..........says PDP reform on course. The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus says that the successful conduct of hitch free and transparent gubernatorial primaries in Ekiti state on Tuesday is a consequence of the party rebranding and repositioning project that has proved to be on course. Prince Secondus said that the real winner from the exercise is democracy and not any individual as the PDP family in Ekiti would be healthier from the primary. In a congratulatory message he sent to Governor Ayodele Fayose and other leaders and members of PDP in Ekiti state soon after the primary, the National Chairman appreciated them for conducting themselves well. He charged them to note the pre- primary understanding that there will be no winner or loser but contestants all. In a statement from his media office signed by Ike Abonyi, the National Chairman commended all those whose made huge sacrifice that helped to make the primary a success particularly Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and his team who conducted the primary. He also commended in particular Senator Dayo Adeyeye for not only accepting the result but commending the process as free, fair and credible. Prince Secondus assured members and supporters of the party in the state and indeed nationally, that his campaign promises that the era of impunity and imposition of candidates in the party is gone remains and Ekiti is the first test case for us. He charged any member of the party desiring to fly the flag of the party at any level to return to the grassroots and market themselves because in a rebranded PDP ticket is not given in party offices but by the people at the field. The PDP leader warned the APC in Ekiti state not to create any nuisance in their frustration ahead of the July election as available intelligence shows that the opposition in the state is trying to launch havoc just to disrupt the peaceful election. Prince Secondus finally urged PDP members in the state to remain vigilant and not relent until the final success is achieved in July. Signed. Ike Abonyi SA media to the National Chairman.

........says APC desire is to return 1984 law in 2018 The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus says that he or other members of his party being maligned and harassed by despotic APC administration are not afraid of Nigeria law because they believe in the rule of law. Prince Secondus said that the desire of this administration is to drag Nigeria back to dark period where they could jail people including foreigners indiscriminately without going through the process of the law but noted that such era cannot work again in a democracy. Secondus through a statement from his media office signed by Ike Abonyi wondered why the Presidency is stressed up on an innocuous letter to the United Nation UN that merely stated the obvious happenings in the country regarding democratic developments. "Instead of debunking the issues raised in the letter with empirical facts they now resort to blackmail and intimidation of arresting and docking PDP members. "Let the Presidency tell the World what they have done in the past three years to deepen our democracy, is it the inconclusive elections rampant under their watch; is it the evasion of Judges Homes at midnight with deadly weapons or the evasion of parliament and abduction of the mace? “PDP members are not afraid of facing the law because they believe in the rule of law, what they are resisting and wants the international community to note is the gradual return of 1984 draconian system in 2018. “Anybody who watched a serving Senator being taken to court in an ambulance in a distance of over 200 kilometers in a frame up charges, would know that our democracy is in danger. The PDP boss wondered why they did not list those things the administration is doing or has done to deepen our democracy instead of bemoaning about a harmless letter that just explained situations as it is. "Can democracy flourish in an atmosphere where the Senate of a country is being vandalized and mace symbol of authority removed by hired hoodlums as security operatives that reports to the Presidency watch? "Is democracy not threatened in a situation where serving legislators are being framed up and humiliated publicly by agents of the state just for having dissenting voice on issues? Prince Secondus said that the PDP under took to alert the democratic community world over about the emerging signs because the party nurtured this democracy for 16 years and cannot afford a relapse too soon under a dictatorship. "The history of our party is a history of democratic struggle, we know our contributions, we know the price we paid to be here, we cannot just seat and watch it destroyed in the name of fighting corruption while the same government is harbouring and giving cover to known corrupt people in the order room. Prince Secondus finally charged Nigerians to stand up against the evolving signs against democracy by refusing to be intimidated. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=239376756612271&id=185400175343263

PDP will retain Ekiti – Secondus The National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Uche Secondus, has expressed optimism that the party would retain Ekiti State in the July 14 governorship election. Secondus told newsmen on Monday in Abuja that Ekiti remained a PDP state and that the party was following the right path to elect its flag-bearer in a primary election scheduled for Tuesday. The processes have begun; we have done the three-member committee and elected ward delegates. On Tuesday there will be state Congress to elect our candidate. “Thereafter, campaign will start and you know the governor has done very well in that state. So, we are sure that the state will still remain PDP state,’’ he said. The chairman, however, decried the “arrest, harassment and intimidation of people, especially the opposition members by the ruling party in the country. “We are not in the military era. Look at how Sen. Dino Malaye was also treated. A senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should be treated with all amount of civility. “We believe that if he has done anything wrong, let him be taken to court in a good manner and not like a common criminal. “So, you can see that more of things like this will be coming to the opposition; if they could treat their own person like this. “Remember when we raised alarm of the conspiracy theory of the All Progressives Congress (APC)? You know what is happening to distinguish Sen. Shehu Sani. “He has been framed up and quite a number of people, they just pick them and label them. “That is not going to resolve the problem; don’t turn Nigeria into a police state, everybody is living in fear as if we are in military regime,” he said. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/05/pdp-will-retain-ekiti-secondus/

.....insists he did not collect money directly or indirectly from Dasuki The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has sent a letter to the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Alhaji Ibrahim Magu complaining bitterly on the continued linking him with money collection from the former NSA Col Sambo Dasuki rtd when nothing of such ever happened. Prince Secondus through his lawyer Emeka Etiaba SAN in a letter REF NO: EESE&C/02/03/05/1 and dated 3rd May, 2018 titled "Re: Mention of Prince Uche Secondus on the list of Looters of Nigeria Economy" and copied to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation as well some Foreign Missions in Nigeria insisted that he never collected or sent anybody to collect on his behalf money at any time from the former National Security Adviser. In a statement from his media Adviser, Ike Abonyi, Prince Secondus feared that the continued listing of his name might be a deliberate ploy by the Commission to implicate him, scandalize his name in a desperate attempt by the ruling APC to suppress him, dent the credibility of our great party which is being rebranded by him. The letter also reminded the EFCC that the issue concerning Secondus is already in court and wondered why the commission should not approach the court with its evidence if any than continuously indulging in the media trial. The attention of EFCC was drawn to the suit before the Chief Judge of Rivers state in Port Harcourt where an interlocutory order was granted against the defendants and same restrained them from further publishing the name of Secondus. The letter also drew the attention of the commission to the injunction order published in the dailies as ordered by the court a copy of which was attached to the letter to the commission. "The said publication by the Minister has become a subjectmatter of Suit No: PHC/1013/2018 in Prince Uche Secondus Vs. Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Federal Government of Nigeria and Vintage Press Limited (publishers of The Nation Newspapers). The above Suit is pending at Court 1, High Court of Rivers State, Holden in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and same has been adjourned to the 28th May, 2018 for hearing" "Having regard to the fact that the subject matter has become subjudice and having drawn the attention of the Commission to the facts contained in this letter, it is our hope that the subsisting Order of Court should be obeyed and if the Commission has evidence of collection of money from the office of the National Security Adviser by Our Client, (as an Agency of the Federal Government which is the 2nd Defendant in Suit No: PHC/1013/2018), the Commission should avail such information to the Federal Government for its defence of the Suit." "Our Client wishes for the umpteenth time to state that he neither collected money from the office of the National Security Adviser nor instructed anybody to collect money on his behalf. He also wishes to state that he never had a Special Assistant by name Chukwurah who is being touted as the one that collected the sum of ₦200,000,000.00 (Two Hundred Million Naira) on his behalf. Finally, the letter said, "Our Client hopes that the ongoing scandalization of his name is not a ploy by the Commission to give effect to the desperate attempt by the federal government to intimidate him and destroy his credibility and that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as well as other opposition leaders as the general elections approach in the pretext of war against corruption" Signed Ike Abonyi SA Media to the National Chairman" |

List of members of the Contact and Integration Committee inaugurated by the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party... "We must save this democracy" Secondus charges PDP members. The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has charged members of the party to do all within their powers to save this democracy and rescue Nigeria from the ruling All Progressives Congress APC. Prince Secondus who spoke at the inauguration of the party's contact committee at the party's National Secretariat in Abuja on friday said that what is happening in the country now calls for all hands to be on the deck. He said that APC administration is so desperate and has chosen to deploy all anti democratic forces to intimidate, harass and cow opposition to submission. According to a statement from his media office signed by, Ike Abonyi, Secondus drew the attention of the international community to the brazing human rights abuses going on in the country under the watch of the APC administration. The PDP boss charged members of the Contact committee to reach out to all men and women of goodwill desirous to save our hard earned democracy for a more robust and all embracing struggle. "It is now abundantly clear to all discerning minds that the conspiracy of 2014 to grab power by all means hatched and executed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, succeeded in foisting a most disastrous government on our country. The APC has turned out to be a colossal failure as the lies and propaganda that aided them into office has failed to sustain them in governance. "They have not given up their treacherous habit of evil lies and propaganda but fortunately the vast majority of our people at home and around the world have all now seen through them. After more than three years in government it is futile to be blaming a previous government for their massive failures. "We are all aware of the prevailing situation in our country today, a nation where human lives have been grossly devalued with daily reports of mindless bloodletting and yet there is supposed to be a responsible government whose primary duty is to protect the lives and property of the citizens. Mass burials occur every day now in the country and it is amazing the blame is now being placed on the shoulders of late President Maummar Ghadaffi who passed on six years ago. The Chairman of the 22 member committee that includes serving and former governors, former Ministers, former Governor of Cross River State Senator Liyel Imoke, assured the party leadership that the committee will do everything to achieve the goals of the party in regaining power in 2019. cc; Lalasticlala https://web.facebook.com/princeuchesecondus/posts/238121883404425

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to the United Nations, the European Union and other foreign countries, to urgently intervene in curbing the excesses of President Muhammadu Buhari-led government. Other foreign bodies copied in the petition include the American Ambassador to Nigeria, H. E. W. Stuart Symington; Ambassador of France, France Embassy, H. E. Denys Gayer; Ambassador of China, Embassy of China, H. E. Dr Zhou Pingjiang; Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Nigeria, Nikolay Udovichenko. Ivy League 300 x 250 The 12-paged petition obtained by TheNewsGuru.com, was signed by the PDP National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, who alleged that President Buhari and his administration are desperate to retain power against the wishes of the Nigerian people who are groaning under the yoke of the misrule of the government in the last three years. 2019: I will return PDP to Aso Rock if elected chairman – SecondusPDP chair, Secondus Secondus who took office as PDP chair on the 9th of December 2017, lamented that Buhari led APC government is doing all it can to frustrate the legitimate opposition and to intimidate and persecute our leaders and ultimately destroy the fragile fabrics of our burgeoning democracy. The petition titled ‘Threats to Democracy, rule of law, basic freedoms and gross human rights violations by the federal government of Nigeria’ reads in part: “On the 9th of December 2017, I was elected as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), by virtue of which I became the official leader of the opposition in Nigeria. Prior to this, in 2015, our party’s government led by President Goodluck Jonathan conducted a globally acclaimed free and fair presidential election and for the first time in our nation’s history superintended a peaceful, democratic transition of power from a party in government to an opposition party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) – led by General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd). “Our expectations had been that this government would work to strengthen or at least, sustain the gains of this democratic milestone. “Regrettably, the President Buhari led APC government is doing all it can to frustrate the legitimate opposition and to intimidate and persecute our leaders and ultimately destroy the fragile fabrics of our burgeoning democracy. “Our nation has become heavily polarized along dangerous fault lines where citizens now live in fear and mutual suspicion; where citizens are slaughtered by the day by marauders; where hunger and strange diseases ravage the people due to the insensitive and incoherent policies of this government. I am constrained to bring to the attention of the United Nations what appears to be a predetermined and orchestrated plan by President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government of Nigeria through various agencies including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigerian Police and other security organisations to truncate Nigeria’s democracy. “The President and his administration are desperate to retain power against the wishes of the Nigerian people who are groaning under the yoke of the misrule of the government in the last three years. “It is imperative to bring to the attention of the world, the various constitutional violations and the unrelenting persecution, arrest, detention and harried trial of opposition members as well as perceived opponents of government, including innocent business concerns, apparently in pursuit of the grand plot to discredit and stifle the opposition in Nigeria. “There is also, the increasing unwarranted attacks by government-controlled security forces on journalists, media houses and other well-meaning Nigerians carrying out their legitimate duties simply because they hold different opinions from those of APC led government. https://www.thenewsguru.com/exclusive-pdp-petitions-un-eu-others-calls-buhari-led-govt-oppressive-anti-democratic/?utm_campaign=shareaholic&utm_medium=whatsapp&utm_source=im

...... Decries growing intolerance. The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has left his country in a Police state as he travels to US on image laundry. Prince Secondus who decried the increasing intolerance and clamp down on those with opposing views from that of the President and the ruling party warns that the situation is capable of truncating democracy. Reviewing the activities in the nation's polity lately as it pertains to the harassment of persons with dissenting voice on issues, Prince Secondus said that the ruling government aware of their underwhelming performance in governance and the accompanying consequences has resorted to some anti democratic antics. Prince Secondus said in a statement from his media office signed by ike Abonyi that it is now dangerous and risky to hold views that are at variance with ruling establishment. He said that the on-going clampdown on persons not in agreement with their views either in the opposition party òr within their APC fold is a clear evidence of the desperation of this government to suppress free speech and association which are indispensable requirements for democracy to flourish. "Legislators are not safe, Judges are living and working in fear, media are being harassed, security agencies have all become tools of oppression for government, dictatorial signs are all over the place threatening our democracy. " Their intention is clear, to intimidate and frighten people from saying the truth, but they will never succeed because the huge sacrifice made to bring this democracy to this level by Nigerians is not for it to be destroyed cheaply. "If governance in a democracy is associated with delivery of dividends and after three years you have nothing to show, no amount of aggressive pressure and bullying will save such government in the hands of the voters. " Democracy provides for a day of reckoning when we leaders must return to the people to renew our mandate, that hour has come and only a government that has nothing to show that resorts to intimidation and harassment of those telling them the truth. Finally, the PDP National Chairman calls on the international community particularly the United States and all agents of democracy to note all these anti democratic indices and be on alert because the motive is clear to truncate democracy if the people rejects them at the poll.

....... Say its height of insensitivity and lack of empathy The National Chairman of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has described as the height of insensitivity on the part of President Muhammadu Buhari, for not visiting troubled Benue state to commiserate with the people and the Catholic Church that lost two high priest of God and 17 other worshippers in a senseless killing by herdsmen before embarking on a two day visit to Bauchi state on Thursday. Prince Secondus said that while the nation and the Christendom globally mourn the brutal murder of the two highly placed priests of God, the President jumping into an aircraft to Bauchi state on a two day visit without going to the venue of the gruesome murder in Benue state to commiserate and see things for himself as Commander in Chief leaves everyone to wonder at the lack of emotion on the side of the President on the plight of the citizens. The PDP boss said in a statement from his media office on Thursday signed by his media adviser, Ike Abonyi that what the President is doing is clear show of arrogance, and lack of empathy, wondering why the needless bloodletting in that state should not attract his feelings enough for him to at least do a Presidential stopover to the embattled state. There is no time a people need show of empathy and concern more than when they are in mourning mood as is the case with the people of Benue state" "It's this sought of show of insensitivity and bluff by the President and the Commander in Chief that perhaps have influenced the behavour of the military operatives and other security agencies who have not made any appreciable impact in trying to stem the ugly situation in the state as they may have continued to interpret the President's indifference as lack of seriousness in the callous bloodletting in the state" "This type of indifference and lack of concern from the President on the plight of its citizens perhaps explains why there has been no arrest and persecution of these hoodlums since January, 2018 when the latest onslaught on the people of Benue began. Prince Secondus reminded the President that as a Leader he should try to be above board and see himself as father of all by giving equal treatment and concern to all matters affecting the people irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political inclinations. The PDP leader finally charged the President to open his heart and mind to all Nigerians and eschew nepotism. https://www.facebook.com/princeuchesecondus/posts/235734626976484 |
