The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus, has called on Nigerians to caution President Muhammadu Buhari, alleging that his actions are detrimental to the survival of democracy in the country. According to a statement in Abuja on Tuesday from his media office concerning the siege on the leadership of the National Assembly by security agencies, Secondus said it was unfortunate that President Buhari could allow such to happen under his administration. He said it was bad that the President, who he said was a beneficiary of democracy in 2015, has allegedly done nothing ” but destroy every fabric of democracy and the rule of law. ” He alleged that the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government was using the security agencies to overthrow the leadership of the National Assembly in order to make it comatose. He said, “The APC government led by President Muhammadu Buhari is using state security apparatus like the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services and the Nigerian police to attack the National Assembly with the aim of forcibly overthrowing its leadership and rendering the third arm of government comatose. “The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki; his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu and other distinguished senators are have been under severe assault from security agencies. “It now a known fact that democracy have now collapsed in Nigeria and we are now under a totalitarian and fascist government with no appetite for opposition. President Muhammadu Buhari is a beneficiary of democratic election into power and since he took over on May 29th 2015 he has done nothing but destroy every fabric of democracy and the rule of law. “We hereby call on all Nigerians home and abroad to immediately speak up against this act of gross violation of the constitution of Nigerian and the attempt disruption of the democratic process and institutions by President Muhammadu Buhari and privatised members of the Nigerian security agencies.” He also called on all traditional rulers in Nigeria, the international community and all well-meaning Nigerians ” to rise up against the antics of President Muhammadu Buhari to forestall a possible derailment of our democracy. Peoples Democratic Party on the occasion of the 80th National Executive Committee (NEC) Meeting (Emergency) held at the PDP National Headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, 23rd July, 2018. Protocol It is with deep sense of responsibility that I welcome you to this emergency National Executive Committee meeting of our great party. This meeting was called to review recent happenings in the country and to take critical decisions that would help salvage the country’s democracy. Your Excellencies, great leaders of our Party, Nigeria is truly at a crossroad. In our wildest imagination, none of us thought that Nigeria could deteriorate to the level it is today. Life is no longer worth anything with rivers of blood a constant spectacle. “The monkeys and baboons” have been truly soaked in blood. No day passes without innocent Nigerians being slaughtered in their numbers by killer herdsmen, bandits or Boko Haram. Insecurity has so worsened that people are genuinely scared to travel freely. Yet this was a government that promised to wipe out Boko Haram in a matter of weeks. The lack of political will to rein in the killer herdsmen has left Nigerians and the international community in shock. The economy is in shambles as Nigerians yearn for pre-2015 era. Unemployment has not only worsened under this APC government, most Nigerians wonder where the next meal will come from. The government is busy compromising institutions of state, from security agencies and anti-corruption bodies to INEC. They have been turned into tools in the hands of the APC for intimidation and persecution of the opposition. Another example of how the system has decayed under the watch of the APC is the recent Ekiti election. What happened in Ekiti was a sham and mockery of democracy. It was disgraceful. The security agencies threw decency and fairness over board, openly tear gassing, intimidating and arresting PDP supporters. They chased away PDP agents, provided cover for APC thugs to snatch and stuff ballot boxes all in the bid to assist INEC to rig the election in favour of APC. The Government House Ekiti was invaded, the governor was manhandled in spite of his immunity, Ekiti people had a raw deal. Even national and international observers who voiced out their genuine observations were harassed by security agents and their offices ransacked for speaking the truth. This must not be allowed to happen in Osun. I must thank all our Party leaders, PDP Governors, Civil Society and the Ekiti people for coming out en-masse and standing by the PDP, although the APC tried to make sure their votes did not count. Let me assure our teeming supporters that we have all the polling unit results and over- whelming records of electoral infractions by the APC, security agencies and INEC. We will reclaim our mandate in court. The situation we find the country demands that all people of goodwill must join hands to legally see out this incompetent APC government. In the course of this meeting, we will brief you on the efforts being made to build a coalition of democrats to rescue Nigeria. One thing is clear, Nigeria is heading for disaster and Nigerians are looking up to PDP and other democrats to halt the slide. We shall not disappoint them. Welcome, again, to this NEC meeting. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=282274655655814&id=185400175343263

......says PDP is reconsidering 2019 The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has said that the party contested against the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and the Security agencies not All Progressives Congress, APC. Prince Secondus said this when he received a Joint International Election Observation Mission fielded by two main American international civil agencies, the National Democratic Institute, (NDI) and the International Republican Institute (IRI) on Thursday, at the party headquarters in Abuja. The National Chairman said that the party is consulting with its relevant organs in review of Ekiti election to reconsider their position on 2019 general election. In a statement from his media office and signed by the media Adviser, Ike Abonyi, Prince Secondus said that what happened in Ekiti state was not just electoral fraud but robbery in connivance with INEC and security agencies. "In Ekiti state governorship election last Saturday we did not contest with APC we contested with INEC and Security agencies" "Ekiti election is strategic to the general election in 2019 and from what happened we are consulting with our people to see whether we would participate in the election or not. According Prince Secondus, a situation where bodies that should be neutral in a contest are brazenly helping to manipulate the process in favour of one party is antithetical to democracy and is a dangerous signal. He said that there are clear indication for all to see that the ruling APC is scheming to engineer more crisis in the land to enable them manipulate the electorate process in their favour in connivance with security agencies. "For us as an opposition party we have lost confidence onINEC and security agencies" The National Organizing Security NOS of the party Col Austin Akobundu who also briefed the visiting international agencies on Ekiti said the election involved various electoral frauds through intimidation and ballot snatching. Akobundu said that INEC fraud was so transparent that it produced conflicting figures of the result and had to pull it down from their website. The leader of the delegation Dr Pauline .H.Bakaer, President Emeritus, Fund for Peace United States said that they were on the visit to share ideas with the opposition party on their challenges ahead of the 2019 general election. cc; Lalasticlala, Mynd44 https://www.facebook.com/princeuchesecondus/

Secondus: FG Insensitive to Nigerians’ Plight The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Uche Secondus, Wednesday said the federal government is insensitive to the plight of Nigerians and has failed woefully to secure the country. Secondus, who was accompanied by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and four former governors, made the remark during a condolence visit to the Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal over the killing of 40 people in Tabbane village of Rabah Local Government Area of the state. He said the federal government has failed in the area of security which is the primary responsibility of the government. According to Secondus, President Muhammadu Buhari should focus on addressing the security challenges bedevilling the country rather than embarking on foreign trips. “People are dying daily and the president is moving around the world. I believe that his recent trip to The Netherlands is unnecessary. “For how long will they put in place the necessary security architecture to tackle these problems? The federal government is doing nothing and the governors have no control over security in their states,” he said. He maintained that Nigerians were going through pains and tired of wanton killings across the country. The PDP national chairman lamented that the killings were too many while the people live in perpetual fear of the unknown. Nigerians are now living in pains and fear of the unknown because the killings are too many, from Zamfara to Sokoto, Borno, Benue, Plateau, Taraba and Adamawa states. What we see everyday is bloodshed across the nation. “For how long shall the innocent be killed while the government does nothing. Our people are weeping and tired with widows, fatherless and motherless children everywhere. It is so painful and worrisome,” Secondus said. He condoled with the government and people of Sokoto over the killing of 40 people by bandits in the state last week. “We are in Sokoto in solidarity with the people that lost their loved ones and I urge you to take heart in this period of sorrow,” he added. Responding, Governor Tambuwal thanked the PDP leadership for the visit and prayed God to reward them. The PDP leaders later held a close door meeting with Tambuwal which lasted for 30 minutes. The PDP chairman was accompanied by former governors of Kano, Jigawa, Sokoto and Ogun States, Ibrahim Shekarau, Suleiman Lamido, Attahiru Bafarawa and Gbega Daniel. Uche Secondus, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led protesters to the national assembly on Thursday over the alleged brutality of PDP members, including Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti. Accompanied by top PDP leaders, Secondus said he led the delegation to submit a petition to the lawmakers on the alleged action of the police. Fayose broke down in tears at a PDP rally on Wednesday, accusing an unidentified policeman of slapping and kicking him. Secondus who was received by Ike Ekweremadu, deputy senate president, at the entrance of the national assembly, called on the leadership of the national assembly to intervene in the situation in Ekiti. The PDP chairman said if the election is rigged in Ekiti, there would not be any election in 2019. “Just yesterday there was a civilian coup. The Ekiti government house was seized and the governor was brutalised, detained and harmed,” he said. “Ekiti has been militarised and policed. Over 30,000 police men are in Ekiti. The citizens of Ekiti are afraid. They are traumatized. They are harrassed and they are being guided not to come out of their homes. “We call on international community to see and watch what is happening in Ekiti, if this is the type of democracy and election they tend to conduct by the APC and INEC that means the 2019 election is under threat and we believe that if they continue in this manner and if they rig the election in Ekiti, there won’t be an election in 2019. “Your Excellency we have come so you can intervene – your oversight function of the national assembly – you have a right, the mandate is with you by the constitution to query and examine and carry out your oversight function of the executive.” Secondus said the executive and security agencies are not above the law. The chairman said they embarked on the protest because they believe in the rule of law. After receiving a petition from Secondus, Ekweremadu said the lawmakers would ensure the neutrality of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies in the Ekiti election. https://www.thecable.ng/just-in-secondus-leads-protesters-to-nassembly-over-assault-on-fayose/amp?__twitter_impression=true

Being bullet Points of the Address of the PDP National Chairman Prince Uche Secondus at the Signing of Memorandum of Understanding MOU between the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and 38 other Political Parties at the Shehu Yar Adua Center, Abuja on Monday July 9th, 2018. Protocols.- I welcome you all to this historic occasion that is going to be a watershed in the political evolution of our great country. I liken what is happening here today to many landmark events in our political development as a nation starting from the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern Protectorates that became Nigeria in 1914. Other such land mark days in our country includes, the day the colonial masters transited political power to Nigerians on October 1, 1960 after tortuous struggle by our forefathers. That historic day 14th January 1970 when the 30 months brutal civil war in Nigeria ended with the no victor, no vanquished understanding declared by the then Head of state General Yakubu Gowon. Today is also like that day on October 1, 1979 when the military handed over power to a civilian adminstration In a day like this, we cannot forget the struggle that led to the elimination of Abacha regime on June 8, 1998, the struggle and sacrifice that culminated in the May, 29th 1999 final return to democracy in our land. Another landmark day in our polity that we must remember in a day like this is the first ever successful transfer of power from civilian to civilian administration that happened with the PDP surrendering power to APC on May 29th 2015. I have taken us this memory lane for us to properly appreciate the import of what we are gathered here to do today to help rescue our nation that is presently going through hardship with endless killings and blood flow in a country that is not at war with any nation. We have all witnessed all forms of intimidation aimed at suffocating democracy in our land, frame ups, arrests and total break down of law and order in some areas like Zamfara state where a Governor had to relinquish his chief Security officer status. Just last week the APC conquest regime came up with Executive order which all political watchers including civil society groups liken to Decree2 of the military era. We know why they are doing this on the eve of a general election because they know the people have turned their back on them but they want to retain power at all cost including cowing us down. But we cannot be cowed, if our heroes past had been cowed down in these historic events I just highlighted above we would not have democracy or a nation today. We must stand up for the rule of law to prevail or posterity would judge us harshly. Our leaders were fearless and united and they rescued this country from draconian regimes in the past. By what we are doing today, fear has taken flight and spirit of God has taken over, we must stand up to defend our people. I therefore call on all of us to be strong, steadfast and courageous, lets chase out APC in our lives and form a National Government that will bring succor to our people. Let us be firm in our decisions anticipating that our enemies will come up with all form of intrigues and strategies to rig election but we call on the international community to watch happenings in our polity with an eagle eye to save democracy in our country. In conclusion,my dear people, lovers of democracy, report I got last night shows that Nigerians are still being killed in Plateau and some other states. I urge us to stand up for a minute silence for the souls of the innocent Nigerians who died in the these senseless killings. Let's collectively say-#Buhari! Nigeria lives matter, Stop the killings Now. Thanks and God bless. Prince Uche Secondus National Chairman of PDP https://www.facebook.com/princeuchesecondus/posts/270722183477728

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has described the late former Minster of Finance, Mallam Adamu Ciroma as a privileged servant leader. Prince said in a condolence letter he addressed to the former Woman leader of the PDP and wife of the deceased, Hajia Inna Ciroma that his death is a huge loss to the PDP and Nigeria. According to a statement from the National Chairman's media office and signed by his media adviser, Ike Abonyi, Prince Secondus said Mallam Ciroma would be remembered for his unbiased and principled counsel to younger generation of politicians. He was passionate about Nigeria. "Even though he lived to a ripe age of 83 years, whenever death comes its always a painful experience, more so when it happens with a beloved and utility figure as he was in our polity. "Mallam lived an exemplary quality life and left legacies that should be a huge consolation for his biological and political families. The good life Mallam Ciroma lived while on earth may grant him the golden key that opens the palace of eternity. " He represented a perfect example of quality and substance. It's my prayer that the great legacies he left behind especially her generosity and her glorious adventure in politics and service to humanity should be cherished and sustained by you and the other children left behind. Finally, Prince Secondus prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest and the entire Ciroma family the fortitude and grace to accept his will. Prince Secondus had on friday led members of the National Working Committee NWC and other leaders of the party to the Maitama, Abuja home of the late politician where they condoled with the family. https://www.facebook.com/princeuchesecondus/posts/268084493741497
