The National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus has said president Buhari is making the 2019 presidential race easy for the opposition with his actions and policies. Speaking to newsmen on Sunday, Secondus was confident that Nigerians have woken up to reality that they made a mistake by voting Buhari in 2015. According to the PDP National Chiarman, Buhari is by his actions and statements taking Nigerians for a ride and has been busy testing their collective patience. His words “you see that Nigerians have realized that they made a mistake in electing President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015” While maintaining that the president has abandoned Nigerians and those who voted for him, Secondus stressed that it was wrong for the president to have described Nigerians as being impatient. http://wdn.com.ng/voting-buhari-2015-mistake-secondus/

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has promised to be fair to all stakeholders of the party notwithstanding the area of the country they come from or period spent in the party in all decision making. The National Chairman of the party, Chief Uche Secondus, who made the pledge, also promised that the party in the run up to the 2019 general election, would avoid impunity and imposition of candidates. Secondus was speaking last Saturday at a ‘Unity rally’ organised by its Agaie/ Lapai Local Government Area branch of the party in Niger State where nearly 600 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the PDP. Represented by the National Financial Secretary of the party, Abdullahi Maibasira, Secondus said the new leadership of the party would ensure transparency and accountability in all that it would do, adding that “every stakeholder will be carried along in decision making. “My leadership will be fair to all so that we will win the 2019 general election at all levels.” The party leader assured Nigerians that a PDP government at the state and federal levels would fight hunger, poverty and insecurity which he described as major problems facing Nigerians today. Former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, addressing the party supporters, said PDP was prepared to tackle the APC for 2019 elections in the state and the country at large. According to him, “We will resist any form of intimidation put on our way to reclaiming power at all levels of governance in the country.” Aliyu said already, a committee had been put in place to ensure victory for the PDP in 2019 general election, saying the membership of the party would soon be unveiled before charging PDP members to be united so as to be able to confront the ruling APC with one voice. The former governor warned the party faithful against cross-carpeting after primaries, saying those who remained, despite pains and humiliation, would be applauded and compensated. He reminded the people that his eight-year administration in the state had respect for the traditional institutions because of their crucial roles in the society, disclosing also that he never left salary debts for the new APC government to pay. The state chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Tanko Beji, who received the nearly 600 defectors from the APC, apologised for the past mistakes of the party which foisted the APC on the people of the state, saying: “We have learnt our lessons.” Beji therefore urged the party supporters to obtain their voter cards to enable them vote in the 2019 elections. https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2018/01/15/secondus-pdp-will-be-fair-to-all-2/

Former National Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prof. Wale Oladipo on Wednesday said the new chairman, Prince Uche Secondus was capable and competent to lead the party to victory in 2019. Oladipo served as secretary alongside the former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sherif, who held sway as chairman, until the Supreme Court verdict of July 12, 2017, which declared the former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi, the authentic leader of the party. Oladipo opined that the emergence of Secondus has brought stability and peace, noting that the party is working assiduously to take over power in 2019. Oladipo, who was fielding questions from newsmen at the venue of 8-day Fidau prayer for father of the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adejare Bello at Ede, averred that the party remained more cohesive and robust than ever. The former varsity teacher added that the stability of the party at the national level would naturally put all state chapters on the right footing to win election in their respective states. He, however, frowned at the arrangement of the timetable for the 2019 general election recently released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Oladipo condemned INEC for “lumping National Assembly election with the Presidential election”, but commended the commission for rolling out modality for the general election on time to ensure credible process. http://dailypost.ng/2018/01/11/pdp-ex-secretary-oladipo-speaks-secondus-inec-timetable%E2%80%8B/

Press Statement PDP Bemoans Benue, Kaduna, Rivers Killings,…Charges Presidency, APC To Search Their Conscience The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday described the recent massacre of defenseless Nigerians in Benue, Rivers, Kaduna and other states by marauders as extremely wicked, iniquitous and horrifying. The party also flayed as inexcusable, the failure of President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC Federal Government to act upon early danger signs and threats by taking cautionary measures that could have averted the killings, particularly in Benue state. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement on Thursday further lamented the insensitivity of the APC Presidency which reacted to the ugly incidents only after the PDP and well-meaning Nigerians called them to task. The party said the height of insensitivity of the APC Presidency became glaring in its reaction, wherein a media aide issued some apathetic and indifferent lines without any precise commitment towards bringing the perpetrators to book and assurances of adequate security to forestall a reoccurrence. The PDP also called on the Presidency to have some soul-searching with regard to its silence and loud indifference whenever citizens fall under such horrifying attacks. “What a way to start the new year? The sheer insensitivity of the APC Government have continued to cause our nation a lot of pain and sorrow. Is it not only a careless and inept leadership like the APC government that will ignore the danger signs in any part of the country and leave its citizens defenseless, just to be massacred by marauders? If the APC Federal Government had effectively acted upon the danger signs and had provided adequate security in flash points across the country, particularly in Benue state, north central and Southern Kaduna area, this massacre of Nigerians, who were already impoverished by the APC's misrule, could have been prevented. “Is it not a tragic trajectory of governance that while the APC Presidency was busy basking on its orchestrated New Year self-praise and empty promises, bandits were having a field day mowing down citizens in cold blood? Is it not also an irony that when the government was prompted to react to the spate of killings, all its officials could do was to respond in a most indifferent, nearly unconcerned and almost without compassion manner? “Indeed, PDP aligns with Nigerians that the APC and the Presidency should have a serious soul searching on their clear indifference towards the persistent killings and maiming of citizens by bandits who constantly invade communities, slaughter the people and walk away with blood of our compatriots in their hands. We insist that for the nation to be reassured, the Federal Government must show commitment by ensuring that the perpetrators of these killings are immediately brought to book and made to face the full wrath of the law. We therefore charge our military and other security agencies to leave no stone unturned in this direction. Nigeria belongs to all of us; every citizen has a right to life and no man should take the life of another for any reason or under any guise whatsoever, the statement said. The PDP commiserated with the families of the victims, even as it directed its members across board to assist and continue to pray for them.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said on Tuesday it would capture Lagos in the 2019 governorship election. The PDP Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr Taofeek Gani made the assertion in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos. “We will shock the All Progressives Congress (APC) by winning the governorship election in Lagos in 2019,’’ Gani said. According to him, 2019 will be the beginning of the end of the APC-led government in the state. Gani said the party had mapped out strategies to unseat the ruling party, adding “with the new spirit in PDP in Lagos, we are sure of winning in 2019’’. He described the performance of Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode as “dismal’’, claiming that “Lagosians are eagerly waiting for the PDP to take over and deliver purposeful leadership’’. The party’s spokesman added: “We will shock the APC in 2019, take my words, we already have lots of novel ideas to wrestle them from power. “For now, we will keep our strategies sealed, when the game starts, we will unleash them. “Ambode has failed in purposeful governance, what we see is propaganda and project planet, the people desire change, which is PDP.” According to him, the party has successfully resolved its internal crisis and is working assiduously to ensure a successful primary in the state. Gani described recent media report on the defection of 1500 PDP members to the APC in the state as mere propaganda. “It is laughable to hear that 1500 PDP members decamped to APC in Oshodi, this is outrageous propaganda. “I am from Oshodi-Isolo, the area remains the strongest nest of PDP, we won all elective offices in the 2015 general elections, in spite the presence of the APC state chairman in the area,’’ he said. http://punchng.com/we-will-capture-lagos-in-2019-says-pdp/

In a statement marking the 2018 New Year day, Secondus identified significant contributions made by IBB to develop democracy in Nigeria in general and the PDP in particular. ” Your commitment and dedication to the Peoples Democratic Party, our great party which you and other patriotic leaders founded and nurtured has continued to bring joy to the entire members of the party” “Sir over the years you stood by the PDP even at the most difficult period which we experienced in the year 2017″ He said ” We are grateful to you Sir and wish you unlimited happiness and good health in the new year and many more years ahead”. “Your Excellency we salute your sense of statesmanship and firm faith in the PDP agenda. Secondus stressed. The entire members of our great party wish you unlimited happiness and good health in the year 2018. Happy New Year Your Excellency, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.” http://sunnewsonline.com/new-year-secondus-salutes-babangida-jonathan/

On behalf of all members of Peoples Democratic Party and all our teeming supporters worldwide, I congratulate Senator George Oppong Weah on his victory as the President-elect of the Republic of Liberia. His victory did not come to me as a surprise as he has distinguished himself to be a patriotic, dogged and passionate Liberian who has consistently offered himself to the service of the Liberian people over the years even at the most difficult times. The peaceful conduct of the election has shown that Africa has come of age in conducting free and credible election devoid of government interference. I am optimistic that he will live up to the expectation of the Liberian people by working hard to justify the mandate that has been given to him when he assume his presidential duty. I urge all those who contested in the election to demonstrate great sportsmanship by working with the president-elect to move Liberia forward. Signed Prince Uche Secondus National Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

By Dirisu Yakubu ABUJA The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday advised the federal government and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) not to issue any New Year message to Nigerians, saying earlier promises made were not fulfilled. The party said Nigerians have been left dispirited by the litany of woes visited on them in the past two years by the APC government, stressing that it would be the height of irresponsibility on the part of government to spew another round of propaganda and false hope in the name of New Year messages. In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, the party queried: “What else would they tell Nigerians apart from inventing new lies and propaganda as they had always done, particularly at the turn of each New Year? “Every New Year, since 2016, the APC and its federal government have been reeling out heaps of promises which they had no intentions to fulfill. Now they are warming up to reel out fresh ones in January 2018. “What is the need of a New Year message from APC government when it would be replete with propaganda? What is the need of their yearly assurances when the only thing we see is an arrogant and incompetent government plunging the nation into economic recession and visiting the citizens with the worst forms of untold hardship. “What seriousness should any Nigerian attach to a government that takes governance for granted, puts off its federal executive meeting at the slightest whims and blame imaginary invasion of its offices by rats for the inability to meet required statutory functions? “What else should Nigerians expect from a government that promised massive employments only to render 7.74 million Nigerians jobless between 2016 and September 2017; with combined unemployment and underemployment rate hitting 40.0% as declared by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS)?” The party further mocked government monetary policy, adding that it failed to keep faith with pledges made to the Nigerian people. “This is the same APC that promised to deliver naira exchange at N1 to 1USD but ended up wrecking the currency from N160-N170 to a scandalous N350-N400; the same party and its government promised to reduce the price of fuel only for it to rise from where the PDP left it at N86.50 to N300-N400 per litre. “What do we expect from a government that so devastated the economy in 2017 that Nigerians were forced to turn to Ponzi schemes like the Mavrodi Mundial Movement (MMM) for survival only for an estimated three million of them to lose about N18 billion in the process. “The APC misrule literarily turned 2017 into a harvest of woes; hunger, disease, violence and deaths while the nation is now being pummelled by ethnic and religious agitations and attendant violence in all parts of the country,” it noted. The statement stressed that “Measured against all key performance indicators, the APC controlled federal government has fallen below the expectations of Nigerians “Painfully, instead of channeling the nation’s resources for the good of the citizens, the “zero corruption” federal government is busy providing cover for APC interests who are diverting public funds through padded budgets, multi-billion dollars secret oil subsidy regimes, illegal lifting of crude using unregistered APC fronts, pillaging of Nigeria’s foreign reserves, diverting of funds meant for fight against insurgency and rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the northeast; and attempts to steal $1bn from the Excess Crude Account (ECA).” Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/12/keep-new-year-promises-pdp-tells-fg/

Christmas Greeting From PDP Chairman Prince Uche Secondus

The National Chairman of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has charged Nigerians to use the occasion of this year’s Christmas to offer special prayers for an end to the government of the All Progressive Congress APC as its obvious that they are not moving the country forward. Prince Secondus said in a Christmas message to Nigerians that the hardship Nigerians are going through in the last 30 months of APC administration shows clearly that it was a mistake voting them in the first place. " The fact that Nigerians cannot see fuel to travel home to see their loved ones during this Christmas even after fuel prize jumped from N87 per liter under PDP administration to N145 under APC shows clearly that they have nothing to offer. " As Christmas is the marking of the coming of the messiah by christendom, this is the best time to seek God's intervention to send a leader who would save this country as APC administration has failed the people woefully. Secondus said that never in the history of Nigeria has there been this level of disaffection among the people with the government clearly unable to offer solution "This Yuletide time is therefore ripe for Nigerians to bury their political, ethnic and religious differences and go on their knees to ask God to save this country from the hands of APC misrule and clear lack of direction. "This is the third Christmas Nigerians are marking under APC government and the indignation in their faces across board shows it all that the people are sad and disappointed" Notwithstanding the frustrations however, the PDP boss admonishes all Nigerians to use this period of Christmas to reflect deeply on the future of democracy in this country and try and use this season to show love to one another and build on those things that unite than divide us. The National Chairman, on behalf of the PDP National Executive Committee of our great party, wishes all Nigerians joyful Christmas celebrations. promises transparent primaries for all polls National Chairman of the Peoples Democractic Party, (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus Thursday boasted that members of the opposition party are no longer intimidated by alleged arrests and muscling by the ruing party, adding that it was battle ready to take over power in 2019. “We want to reiterate that we won’t be intimidated by incessant arrests and muscling by the ruling government. History of Nigeria has shown that everyone who is persecuted and jailed ended up becoming the next President, because many of our past leaders have been jailed. So go ahead and arrest and jail all of us. We can’t anymore be intimidated by such arrests, ” he said. Secondus also declared that open primaries will be conducted prior to every stage of elections in Nigeria, especially in Ekiti state. The newly installed PDP chairman who spoke in Ado Ekitii, the Ekiti state capital during his first official visit while presenting party flags to chairmanship and councillorship candidates of the party ahead of Saturday’s local government election in the state, said the party under his watch would not allow imposition of any aspirant. Secondus urged party members in Ekiti to remain resolute in supporting the party adding that members at the grassroot would be allowed to determine their fate and elect or choose their representatives without undue interference from the national body. The opposition leader said primaries preceding every election,, including those of Governorship, Senate and House of Representatives, among others shall henceforth be well monitored by credible party officials to be deployed from the national headquarters. He, however added a caveat that once such a well televised and open primary had been held, and members freely choose who to fly the flag of the party, the national Secretariat of the party shall not be liable into entertaining complaints or protests from aggrieved persons. Secondus who commended Fayose for dotting every landscape of the state with developmental projects urged Ekiti people to compensate him and his administration with votes at both the Saturday’s council election and the gubernatorial coming up in July next year. He urged all those still interested in one elective office or the other in the state not to lose hope, but come out to participate in such primaries, if they are sure of their popularity and ability to deliver. Governor, Ayo Fayose expressed gratitude to Secondus and his team for making Ekiti state local government election their first public assignment after their emergence as new party leaders. He promised the party national leadership that going by the volume of his administration’s development agenda, all the 16 local government councils as well as the 177 wards would be delivered to the party this Saturday as well as next governorship election in July next year. The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has said that those parading themselves as ‘Fresh PDP’ should be arrested and prosecuted for disrupting the peace of the country. He made the call while receiving the newly elected national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, in his office in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital on Wednesday. Mr. Secondus, along with other members of the party’s National Working Committee ( NWC) are in Ekiti for the local government election rally coming up in Ado Ekiti on Thursday. Mr. Secondus, in his earlier remarks, said the Fresh PDP were mere detractors, who should be ignored. But Mr. Fayose said they were miscreants meant for the prison. “We are not distracted by elements of distractions. We are focused we know the enemies are at work. We know several things have been going on with some wanting to prevent our convention,” said Mr. Secondus. “But since we have had a peaceful convention they are not happy. We know these people, even those from outside and we will name them when the time comes.” Mr. Fayose, however, noted that those parading themselves as ‘Fresh PDP’ should have been clamped into prison. “They are simply charlatans. I won’t be surprised and we are doing investigations to know those who are behind them,” said Mr. Fayose. “In a society like Nigeria, where we need a virile opposition, we need to continually put the government of the day on its toes for them to know that Nigeria is greater than all of us. Some miscreants would just make press statement and say they are splinter group or whatever they call themselves. “In a proper democracy, they are supposed to have been arrested and detained for breaching the peace of the society as their action is unwarranted and uncalled for. “But we are not going to celebrate such by making an issue out of it. Nigeria needs peace at all times. We are not going to go back to the days of Sherif and co, by giving attention to those persons making noise all over the place. This party will remain focused and move on. “I urge Nigerians to ignore them. When I saw them on the Internet, they were faceless people I cannot recognise so they remain a set of jobless miscreants.” Also reacting to aggrieved members who were defeated and pulled out of the last PDP convention, Mr. Fayose said: ” What is important about the convention is for the party to be transparent and we have done that. “And the moment the party has put in place the necessary level playing ground, everybody defeated at that election should be honourable enough to accept it. There would be another opportunity tomorrow. I am a consistent man and don’t live a spoilers life. ” Let me tell Nigerians that the PDP has done our convention and we have our leadership and we are now more focused than ever and forging ahead and will reclaim the Villa and give Nigeria a befitting leadership.” On those who have dragged the PDP to court demanding the cancellation of the convention, the governor said: “I don’t mind if you go to court, it is different from some people going to the television and parading themselves as fresh whatever, are they dirty before. “If you feel aggrieved, ideally they have all signed undertaken to accept the outcome of the convention. How can you who didn’t get a single vote now go to court over what? “The apex body of the country’s judiciary has warned judges to be wary of politicians in the build-up to the general elections in 2019. And I am sure no judge would want to put his job on the line by allowing jobber politicians who are looking desperately for money. We will not join issues with those from the latrine.” https://newsflash247.com.ng/2017/12/fayose-secondus-speak-fresh-pdp/

The attention of the media office of the National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party PDP Prince Uche Secondus has been drawn to a laughable fabrication in the social media quoting the National Chairman as saying to nameless reporters that the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who recently returned to the party is working as agent for both President Muhammedu Buhari and the ruling APC. This is the kind of thing that should not merit a response but because of record and harmless social media followers who may fall victim of such dangerous distortions, we want to say that Prince Secondus got his mandate riding on his experience in party management. Such experience includes but not limited to knowing what to say, how to say it and when. Prince Secondus knows as National Chairman that after December 10, 2017 mandate he has become the leader of all members of this party including all its Presidential hopefuls and cannot for any reason position himself in Favour or disfavor of any of the aspirants and this applies to all levels of the party. Aware of the enormous challenges before him of rebuilding, repositioning and regaining power come 2019, the PDP National Chairman is presently preoccupied with huge task ahead of him. National Chairman's media office therefore wants to alert Nigerians that in coming days and months more of such baseless publications would be seen ostensibly to distract us and create division among us but they have failed because with the new spirit in Pdp we we would not be distracted from our set goal of chasing APC out of Aso Rock. We therefore want to advice all Nigerians particularly our beloved members to disregard any of such publications not from our office or from credible media houses.
