what moves the market is demand and supply. The reason unity bank is gaining all these while is just because the supply is out of stock. The shares available are in the hands of market movers and institutional investors.Unity is not going up becos of fundamentals nor market sentiments.people continued selling their shares even up to 0.65k while smart investors were mopping them.what do you think will happen when it finally bottoms out?Oando has the same magic to do.just keep your eyes on it or watch.wapic is down already and has just started receiving big patronage. That is to show that something is cooking there.just be watchful.hehehe! surprising packages will continue to be observed on daily basis at NSE.
.. you are totally right I agree with you but I am still seeing unity bank going down to 0.60k again to hit the former lowest but we need to be careful because unity bank mat likely restructure or merge at first quarter.. now is for jij0 masters and short term investors

Oil fell more than 3 percent on Monday, with global benchmark Brent back near 11-year lows as last week's short-covering dried up and players worried that crude prices had more room to swoon in the new year.

Brent settled down $1.27 at $36.62 a barrel, after falling to a session low of $36.52. It hit $35.98 on Tuesday, its lowest since 2004.

Brent also settled below U.S. crude's West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures for a fourth straight day, showing its waning influence over WTI after this month's decision by the United States to lift a 40-year ban on U.S. crude exports.

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ufotty2001: 7:55am On Dec 29, 2015
In our opinion, equities
market had technically
moved closer to a point
where everybody had or
have almost exhausted
their supplies as ASI is
firming up above
26,000bpts, which
further points to likely
reversal in trends despite sustained broad weakness in
economic fundamentals- though, there are strong indications
that adverse effect of falling fundamentals may hit market
harder in the coming year 2016. Nevertheless, the tone of
economic policy as capped in proposed budget for 2016
fiscal year may spring up surprises in key sub-sectors.
As Santa Claus rally begins to gain momentum on
the Nigerian bourse, we consider it very important
to present more insight into trends and prospects
across board as bears had put investors into
cautious mode for long- This write-up is expected to
guide you towards informed decision and intelligent
investing ahead 2016
From trading pattern in the recent months, we have
highlighted high level of investors’ apathy and
sideline-trading postures, particularly in the last
6months, which had contributed immensely to
unimpressive performance recorded so far in the
year 2015.
However, we are of opinion that market had
technically moved closer to a point where
everybody had already exhausted their supplies,
which further points to likely reversal in trends
despite sustained falling fundamentals across
aboard, which was driven by high interest rates and
unfavourably FX rates, particularly in Banking and
Consumer Goods sub-sectors. Consequently, this has
led to unimpressive Profit-lines, considerable
decline in revenue base in the current year.
From all indications, the adverse effect of weak
fundamentals may hit market harder in the coming
year 2016. Dividend payout ratio may shrink across
board significantly- this may push companies to
consider unimpressive bonus reward for the
financial year 2015.
Nevertheless, taking clues from the proposed
budget for year 2016 that is characterised with
heavy spending and tax concessions policy towards
key economic sectors to drive diversification of
economy. Agriculture and Mineral Resources
sectors of the economy have been singled-out to
benefit tremendously from this policy- this in our
opinion would have rub-off effect on fundamentals
of some quoted firms as business environment
poised for positive change.
Government has displayed significant commitment
towards infrastructural upgrade and bridging the
infrastructural deficits across nation by committing
huge capital expenditure towards road networks,
housing and power generation.
In view of the tone of economic policy as capped in
proposed budget for 2016 fiscal year here are key
sub-sectors of the economy that may spring up
some surprises as their business fundamentals may
receive unprecedented boost. Agriculture
( OKOMUOIL, PRESCO and FTNCOCOA), Mortgage
( ASOSAVINGS, RESORTSAL ), Cement (DANGCEM,
ASHAKACEM, WAPCO, CCNN), Energy (FO,
OandoTRANSCORP ), Building, Construction/Real
Estate (JBERGER, COSTAIN ), Mining& Natural
Resources ( MULTIVERSE).
On the other hand, as uncertainty continues to grow
in the face of possibility of economic recession in
near term, we expect corporate firms to spend
more on Insurance as a way of reducing their
exposures and increase cover for earning assets- we
encourage investors to buy into leading insurance
stocks with healthy operating efficiency as we
foresee moderate growth in this sub-sector.
Nevertheless, in the light of increased possibility of
reversal in global oil prices from new low, coupled
with tax concessions and low interest rate
environment, we anticipate an improved business
environment and a better management of foreign
exchange, which may translate to improved
economic fundamentals by quarter two in 2016.
On this note, we are of the opinion that investors
may also consider blue chips and big capped stocks,
particularly in Banking , Consumer Goods and
Industrial Goods sub-sectors, which have shed
weight considerably due to broad sell activities
witnessed across sectors during the year 2015- these
classes of assets tend to benefit tremendously as
economy begin to improve. www.proshareng.com/news/Investors%20NewsBeat/Where-to-invest-in-2016/29643

Currently, Nigeria economy is in a very serious problem because of uncertainty surrounding world oil price.

Transcorp is deeply involved in this oil conundrum ,remember they have an oil rig which is yet to be developed. They have debt with some bank and depends on foreign exchange to finance some of their imports which is used for raw materials for their finished products ie fruit concentrate, tourism industries will perform very poor in 2016 because of customers weak purchasing power hence the revenue in their hotel industry will drop drastically.
Nevertheless, follow the best strategy that works for you.

My target for transcorp in 2016 is less than 1 naira. It sounds funny but that is the bitter truth.

It is well.....
thanks but which penny shares do u think will be OK at 1st quarter..

Direct Cash Settlement Kicks-off in Nigeria's Capital Market
Wednesday, December 23, 2015

As part of the ongoing initiatives to protect investors and eliminate fraudulent activities in the Nigerian Capital Market, stakeholders in the market under the leadership of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and The Nigerian Stock Exchange will, with effect from January 4 2016, commence the Direct Cash Settlement initiative, which is the direct payment of proceed of sale of securities into an investor’s nominated bank account.

This was contained in a statement released by the Steering Committee on Direct Cash Settlement. The committee maintained that with the effective take-off of Direct Cash Settlement, investors in the Nigerian Capital Market would be credited directly with the net proceeds of stock market transactions which would address the illegal sale of investors’ securities.

Direct cash settlement is a process where cash proceeds from trades executed by brokers on the Exchange settles directly into investors’ bank account. It starts when a client gives his broker the mandate to sell his or her shares. Once those shares are sold, payment is made directly into the client’s account. This is in contrast to the current practice where proceed from sale of securities is paid directly into the stockbroker’s account and stockbrokers then deduct transaction fees and remit the balance to the client’s account. Historically, issues have arisen on occasions when the proceed of sale were not remitted into the clients’ accounts, thereby necessitating the need for the initiative.

According to the DG of SEC, Mounir Gwarzo, he stated that “with the Direct Cash Settlement initiative, the moment securities are sold, the consideration will be paid into the client’s account. I am happy to report that at the last CMC, our members unanimously agreed that the Direct Cash Settlement initiative will commence on 4th of January 2016. So, we believe this will also improve investor confidence in the market”.

As against the current general practice where the proceed of sale for investors’ transactions go into the bank accounts of the brokers for onward disbursement to their clients, the practice under the ‘Direct Cash Settlement’ would be to send the net proceeds directly from the clearing and settlement system to investors’ accounts while the existing practice of payment through brokers would only happen where clients opt not to participate in the initiative.

Under the proposed framework for Direct Cash Settlement, brokers were mandated to forward their clients’ bank account details to the CSCS, the agent of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) for the clearing and settlement of securities traded on the Automated Trading System (ATS) of the NSE for clients opting to participate in the Direct Cash Settlement initiative. Settlement of subsequent trades carried out on the ATS would then be effected by direct payment into the client’s account as provided to the CSCS.

Investors are encouraged to contact their stockbrokers for more information on how to opt in to the Direct Cash Settlement initiative. gooood development all those delay from stockbrokers will not occur again but what if you want to buy will they withdraw the money direct from your bank again!!

Sir, i hope the bold answer the question grin

CareerRe: Should I Continue With ICAN Or Travel Abroad For My MASTER DEGREE. by ufotty2001(op): 12:49pm On Nov 29, 2015
Gerrard59:
It depends on the school and the course you intend doing. What you should you know is that Nigerian degrees are not easily considered abroad, I'm saying this as you indicated that you plan staying in Switzerland.

Moreover, Switzerland is not an immigration friendly nation, so you must be very exceptional and highly skilled. This is as a result of the law in Switzerland that states "That a Non -EU citizen would be employed IF there's Swiss national that can't do the job".

Finally, in correspondence with SaiBuhari, I suggest you finish the ICAN. Thankfully, you're within the age of employment. Better still, you can add ACCA to it. What's the major you intend doing in Switzerland? If it's in the financial industry, add an ACCA as Zurich is Europe's 2nd financial city.

Wish you the very best in your career.
thanks a lot... noted

SaiBuharii:
Starting from the Last there is no "guarantee" of getting a good job after writing Ican. But there are "possiblilities" depending on your defination of a good job.

Secondly uncle tells you to start applying for schools does not mean "uncle has gotten visa for you and paid school fees, means you are not sure of the certainty of travelling, so no harm in continuing with ur ican and applying by the side.

In conclusion, continue with ur ican, when time to travel reach go. And if you stay behind, to get a good job involves getting a 2.1, under 26, ability to pass tests and being confidents at interviews, and then #oluwaMustbeInvolved. That's all.
thanks!!! yes!! fees and everything are all ready!!
