actually that was more of a vector art than photoshop, as for your video tutorials that would be a silhouette brush. if you want to get it go to this site http://bestdesignoptions.com/?p=1666 then download the brush you want by clicking on download brush. after downloading just place it in you brushes folder. go to computer hard disk, click on[b] program files > adobe > adobe photoshop cs4 > presets > brushes [/b]and drop the brush file there. load photoshop and check your brush list, it should be there

Please if you want to post a photo try and limit the resolution to 640x480 for it to be viewable, the huge resolution makes appreciating the photos less interesting. but it awesome works ppl.

If you bought the original max it comes with preinstalled maps. Maps are basically pictures so any picture is a map. Its best to create map as you need them. No need hunting for them online. Eg. If you want a concrete map, go online and search for concrete wall textures which you then place in the diffuse slot of your material

To make skin to be smooth there is a plug in known as portraiture in photoshop, manually you can use the healing brush tool and then use gaussian blur to smooth it out

Its nice to hear you're making progress. Making backgrounds like that is done using floral swirls created in a vector software like illustrator and corel draw. To get it go to google and search for floral vectors, they are plenty and come either in .cdr or .ai or .eps. Also you can search for floral brushes on photoshop too and there are many free ones online.

About the particle coming together effect, that is achieved using a brush called debris brush which you can download through google. Or you can use splatter brushes for a similar effect, you just have to match the colors and use layer masks or eraser tool to blend it. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask
