Ikenna351: smh!

So to you, Politcs section is all about Igbo vs Youruba tribes? Why not suggest to Admin to change the section name to Igbo vs Yoruba section? Again, smh!

Ikenna
I miss you! You had this vision of a more healthy politics section. Don't know what finally transpired but if your blueprint was implemented, we would have had a better section; or, it may not have. gotten this bad.

nitrogen: I pray your recommendations aren't adopted/taken, will be very happy, cos this is just starting, I do visit career section and at times family, when I visit politics section, I ignore those shitties, but, it is getting outta hand, nobody has got a monopoly of violence and tribalism, we have started fighting back, I will get handlers, lure them to this section so they can see, and that will lead to the bombardment of this section with real bigotry. So help me God.
When you finally destroy this section, you will return to the family section and enjoy good rapport with saner minds; is that fair? Pray, tell, of what use will it be if all we get here is wars and raw venom? All I'm calling for is a more healthy environment, devoid of bigotry and nepotism; is this hard to get?

Words loose their actual meaning if viewed through the stethoscope of tribalism.

I rest my case.

See as vultures dey hover around the thread; seeking whom to devour.

Soon, the mods will push this wan to frontpage so that the actual war will start. We will soon see a 13 paged thread with no reasonable comment; just insult and counter-insults.
PoliticsRe: Let's Have Your Complaints, Suggestions & Enquiries Here by ujchief(m): 8:44am On Aug 03, 2013
Chief Tapioca: Exactly...

NL without tribalism is like eating a salt-less food..

cool cool
I just wish you could grow bigger than this! Nowadays, its difficult for neutral observers to air their personal observation and opinion without being tagged a tribalist. The level of paranoia is that bad. Someone can't condemn an act from a leader without being tagged a 'yoruba' hater; while someone can't upheld a decision made by a leader without being tagged an 'igbo' hater. What happened to our own personal opinions? Can't we make comments devoid of sentiments; irrespective of whose ox is being gored? Must we support/oppose a move just because of tribal sentiments? We all are guilty in this, we need a redress ASAP!

Like I said in my previous post, this section is becoming unhealthy for a lot of us. Its easier to destroy than to build. Let us try and remedy this situation.

Enough of my whining; time for recommendations;
I will suggest that ;

1. since this present issue of deportation has been over-flogged, let the mods cease to move topics of such to the frontpage again.

2. Its possible that people are trying hard to air their views but are being misunderstood; I will suggest a chat-central thread be started here in the politics section. When issues such as this comes up, we can all gather at the chat thread and 'kill' ourselves cheesy instead of washing our 'dirty' linens in every thread that has related issue.

3. We can try and resurrect the debate we used to have in this section. Instead of fighting over cases as this, the topic can be presented as a debate and people can come in a civilized manner and discourse it.

These are the few remedies I could think of for now.

Sincere 9gerian: Aren't you a confused hypocrite? You'r whining about the tribal war of the last few days, yet you'r pleading that another thread, in the category of the ones you listed above, be moved to the front page?

.
Please, re-read my post again before you start displaying your ignorance in this place. Dayo called for the thread to be moved to front page and I stood against it, reminding him that the said thread carried news that happened way back in 2011 and shouldn't be placed on the homepage.

dayokanu: Mods Front page please

This was my reply. . .

ujchief: Why should it be on front page? Its a 2011 news that was resurrected by a mischievous guy just to sway the minds of the naïve.

Frontpage is for news of the moment!
Stop embarrassing yourself, you've done enough already. I will see what your attacks will lead to; even if it means viewing your threads as a guest.
PoliticsRe: Let's Have Your Complaints, Suggestions & Enquiries Here by ujchief(m): 2:45pm On Aug 02, 2013
The level of raw hatred, angst and venom being propagated in this section is terrible; and, in most recent times, reached an alarming peak. If internet is the only means of getting informed, then Nairaland will end up getting millions deformed. I'm totally unaware of any 'real' ruffle between igbos and yorubas in real life until I started partaking in discussions inside this section.

Something needs to be done, and urgently too. Those of us that can't really find any reason to indulge in tribal bashing are beginning to resent this forum. I'm aware that our leaders may have erred in one way or the other, but the level of hatred we fume against each other isn't something to smile about. Worst still, each comment we make here will remain in data base of search engines and will be reproduce verbatim even in decades to come.

Tell me how someone can remain unscathed after going thru the threads I listed below.

Its possible that recent events acted as catalyst to bring out the worst in us, but; mehn! There's heavy venom going on in the hearts of many here. It affects some of us negatively in the real life.

Something needs to be done.

Are u guys just dumb? You see a thread, you jump into it without reading its content properly. Didn't u see the source? This is 2011 news; but, as usual, mischievous handles in Nl will want to score cheap points, they will try to manipulate blind folks like you.

The level of hatred in this site is just too alarming.

Sincere 9gerian: Now, for the FIRST TIME in the history of this country, we have a president that marched words with actions in terms of COMPLETELY reforming the electoral process. No matter how hard you try, you cannot and can NEVER dismiss this great feat.
Hahahahahaha!!! So we had free and fair election in 2011? Where all the south-east states gave him over a million votes? Out of 1.3 million registered voters in my state, the dundee got over 1.1 votes: indicating over 80% turn-out! No lemmie vex oh!

I thought they said its a 'Reality' Tv show and the contestants got to be real and show their true selves! Why disqualify someone that showed his true 'gangsterism' and didn't try masking it like all those bunch with fake smileshuh

For me, the guy is the real winner and he represents the attitude of 75% of male youths out there.

We already know; we also know he's incapable of fighting corruption which is the canker worm that is eating up this country. This is why we're searching for a better alternative come 2015. The mistake has already been made, we will undo it come 2015.

#Team ctrl + Z; time to undo the mistake of 2011#
PoliticsRe: FRESH AIR Bumper Harvest And Timelines!! by ujchief(m): 6:38am On Jul 29, 2013
Numbers 1 and 2 are quite funny; sacking someone is actually a great feat. If GEJ was sincere about stopping election malpractice, how come he fought Salami and later succeeded in disposing him? Salami, as the head of the Appeal court ensured that all the states rigged by PDP was returned to the rightful winners and consolidated the victories of other parties against PDP when they came to his tribunal.

Numbers 3 to 19 are all about the same thing; Locomotive train moving at a speed of less than 80km/hr.

20 to 31 could be summarized into one point: Efforts are being made to increase the power output of the country.

Honestly, I don't see why you're making unnecessary duplication of the same point. The rest are just the usual politics of awarding and re-awarding contracts without its execution.

All I see is crap, crap and an unnecessary duplication of crap!

You need to apologize for starting this thread and request the Moderators to delete it ASAP!

christendom2004: must the president consult anyone before he exercises his veto. i think the president wud never deny his influence in the release of Al Mustapha.
Do you really understand what veto power is? Does a presidency, which functions as the head of the executive arm of government use his veto power on the judiciary?
The best he could have done was to grant a presidential pardon like he did for Alams after the judgment. This is accepted everywhere and we will know exactly what transpired and call it by its name. But using his office to influence the judgment of a supreme court is an eye-sore! An impeachable offense.

Our judiciary use to be better than this. But the fear of Salami treatment is becoming real.

Tolexander: not surprised cos he said so but only suprised how he always censor the word.
!
Well, according to him, he doesn't enjoy the censorship either; he's doing it more like an obligation.

Tolexander: Na yoruba dey cultivate am, na igbo dey take am, hence the name!
Nice observation. The NDLEA boss showed statistics to back-up his claim; do you have any to back-up yours? I'm just saying since we are acting on evidence at hand, we can as well do the renaming based on available data.

Don't you think so?
