•Queries alleged amputation of late hubby before burial

A widow, Mrs. Stella Ogheneovo, who was allegedly forced to drink the water used to wash her dead husband’s corpse by relatives of the deceased to prove her innocence about the death of her husband, Captain Johnbull Ogheneovo, has alerted police authorities over her plight.
The widow who alleged that the incident took place at Emervo in Isoko North Local government area of Delta state after her husband died intestate on 9,May 2017 at Warri, Delta State said she had petitioned the Assistant Inspector -General of Police, Zone 5, Benin, Mr. Muhammed Abubakar, through her counsel, Mr Olayiwola Afolabi.

Her story
In the petition, Mrs Ogheneovo alleged that when her husband died, she was invited by her husband’s relations to their family house at Emevor village and was forced to disclose her husband’s assets, property, bank details including information about the company where her husband worked before his sudden death.
She added that her mobile phone was also seized. Stating that she was legally married to her late husband and the marriage was blessed with five children, the widow narrated that on the day her husband died, she received a call from her husband’s office that he had slumped and had been taken to the hospital.
She disclosed that during the funeral rites which commenced with a service of songs on the 29th June 2017, a member of her husband’s family, a Reverend Father with the Roman Catholic Church (name withheld) came with thugs to harass and intimidate her and her children adding that she was given over 30 strokes of the cane by the thugs. She said that the said Catholic cleric also threatened her that if she did not declare the assets of her late husband to the family, he would deal with her.
Deceased amputated before burial
According to her counsel, “Our client was forced by the same family member in the presence of other family members (names withheld) to drink water from an unknown source claimed to be the water used to wash the corpse of her late husband to prove her innocence about his death. As a result of the substance forcibly taken by our client under duress, she was admitted at the hospital due to poisoning which caused her severe stomach ache. The same family member warned her to desist from further interference in their family matter and never to attend the burial. It is imperative to note that our client’s late husband was buried without his legs as they were allegedly amputated based on the instructions of the same family member.” She told the AIG that it was through the first son of the late Captain Ogheneovo,Master Shedrack Ogheneovo, who saw his father being buried without his legs intact, that she got to know that her late husband was amputated and the gory sight had continued to have a devastating effect on her son till date. However, she said that despite several attempts to curtail the excesses of the said Priest who now posed as the next of kin to her husband, he ( the priest) has sworn to take over all her late husband’s property and assets despite the intervention of a monarch from the area who had pleaded for settlement. She said that appeals were made to the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Warri, the first Lady of Delta State and the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) over the inhuman treatment meted on her and her children.”As of today, our client and her children have been chased out of the solace of their home by the Rev. Father, who is acting in connivance with other family members. Our client has suffered serious molestation and gross maltreatment in the hands of the said Rev Father who is bent on making life miserable to our client and her children and frustrates all her attempts to expose his selfish evil acts.”
Legal action
Mrs. Oghenovo said that several legal actions have been instituted against her by the family members with the aim of shutting her and her children from having a say in the sharing of her husband’s estate. She, therefore, called on the police, all relevant government authorities, Civil Societies and human rights organizations to intervene in the matter to ensure that she and her children get justice.
Counsel to priest replies
In his reply, the Reverend Father who was accused of masterminding the widow’s plight wrote through his counsel, Jonathan Ekperusi to Mrs. Ogheneovo’s counsel, Olayiwola Afolabi that, “Contrary to the malicious and false impressions created in your publications under reference, none of our clients humiliated, intimidated, assaulted, maltreated and/or threatened your client, Mrs. Stella Ogheneovo.
“The incessant attacks by your client on our clients, especially against Very Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Stephen Ogheneovo is motivated and driven by greed geared towards hoodwinking our clients to allow your client appropriate to herself alone all the properties of Captain Johnbull Ogheneovo (deceased), to the exclusion of Mrs. Best Oghale Walter (nee Ogheneovo), the eldest child of the deceased. Mrs. Best Oghale Walter, was not born out of wedlock, but was already a child of the deceased long before he met and subsequently married Mrs. Stella Ogheneovo.
“The allegations of witchcraft and being born out of wedlock are targeted against Mrs. Best Oghale Walter by your client to embarrass, ridicule, humiliate, and intimidate Mrs. Best Oghale Walter from asserting her rights as an heir and lawful beneficiary to the estate of the deceased. In order to legally redress the serial injustice, Mrs Best Oghale Walter has commenced proceedings in court in Suit No. EHC/162/2017: Mrs. Best Oghale Walter & Anor vs. Mrs. Stella Ogheneovo, over the properties comprising the estate of the deceased, which your client has been tampering with and seeking to dissipate to the exclusion of Mrs. Best Oghale Walter. Our Clients are well to do, and have no interest in their late son/brother’s properties, save that the eldest child, Mrs. Best Oghale Walter gets her share.
“Our Clients believe that it is in a desperate attempt to cover the truth about the actual cause of death of the deceased and to distract our clients from seeking investigation of the matter that Mrs. Stella Ogheneovo has resorted to the violent media attack on our clients, especially against Very Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Stephen Ogheneovo. Very Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Stephen Ogheneovo is not the head of the Ogheneovo family of Emevor and did not preside over the burial arrangements of the deceased. “Therefore, he could not have done any of the things alleged against him by his late elder brother’s wife, Mrs. Stella Ogheneovo. Mrs. Stella Ogheneovo has been changing her story from being forced to ‘drink the water used in bathing the corpse of the deceased’ as contained in some media publications.
To further disparage and distract our clients, Mrs. Stella Ogheneovo has gone further to wickedly and maliciously allege against our clients, especially against Very Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Stephen Ogheneovo, that they amputated the legs of the deceased before he was buried. “The Police at Zone 5, Benin City, merely advised Very Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Stephen Ogheneovo, as younger brother of the deceased, to ensure that Mrs. Stella Ogheneovo, as a widow, was not harassed by members of the family. Mrs. Stella Ogheneovo’s complaint against Very Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Stephen Ogheneovo to the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Benin Branch; Catholic Bishop of Warri; the Odion (King) of Emevor; among others, have all been duly responded to by Very Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Stephen Ogheneovo. Whilst openly fighting our clients, Mrs. Stella Ogheneovo has been sending emissaries behind the scene to appeal to our clients.
“For the records, our clients briefed us that they did not give (not to mention force) Mrs. Stella Ogheneovo, the water used in bathing the corpse of the deceased, and that the entire story was a gross misrepresentation of facts, calculated to vilify, embarrass, harass and humiliate our clients as part of a grand plan by Mrs. Stella Ogheneovo and her cohorts to chase away her husband’s family members in order to effectively disinherit her husband’s eldest child, Mrs. Best Oghale Walter.
“Our Clients are not after any of the properties left behind by the deceased. Our Clients’ interest is to ensure that the properties left behind by the deceased are fairly, justly and equitably distributed among the rightful beneficiaries in accordance with the applicable law. Our Clients are pained that Captain Johnbull Ogheneovo, who was doing very well as a businessman and maritime captain died suddenly on 9th May, 2017 barely two (2) days after he visited his sick mother at the Central Hospital, Warri where he even contributed money towards the mother’s treatment.”
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Zone 5 of the Nigeria Police, Benin, Mr. Emeka Iheanacho (DSP) confirmed that the zone has received a petition by Mrs Stella Ogheneovo through her counsel. He disclosed that the Rev. Father in question was invited by the Zonal Investigation Bureau and made his statement adding that the ZIB has commenced investigation into the allegations levelled against the clergyman.

The last time I wrote about Linda Ikeji here, it was when she had a web fight with the guy who set up . It was a fierce one which later died down. Now there's a new saga and I see there's a lot of lessons every blogger can learn from Linda Ikeji's Plagiarism Saga.

Recently the name Linda Ikeji started trending on twitter. For all the wrong reasons. The rumor was that a man with the twitter handle: @MrAyedee was accusing Linda Ikeji of plagiarism/copyright infringement of his works, and was threatening to report to Google (Linda's host) and also to sue. A lot of people thought the was never going to amount to anything but on October 8 2014, big brother Google pulled lindaikeji..com down!
The message was clear, Sorry this blog has been removed... Chikena!

LINDA-IKEJI-Blog-not-found

Google was able to do this to her because her site was running on Google's FREE platform, hence the ..com at the end of her web address (URL). The other option for her is to have a custom domain name e.g: lindaikeji.com or lindaikeji.net. Now the reasonable thing anyone would do in this situation would be to move over to the custom domain. But dear Linda had been running her blog on the free platform and had never secured her custom domain name.
It's painful that this lady's name which is now a brand does not been belong to her anymore but that the world we live in. She snoozed for too long and domain parkers and cyber squatters stole every possible variant of her name off the internet.
Think of any name bearing lindaikeji, it's gone. Here are a few I checked on that had been snatched:
lindaikeji.com, lindaikeji.net, lindaikeji.biz, lindaikeji.ng, lindaikeji.com.ng, lindaikejing.com, ikejilinda.com, linda-ikeji.com.

They are now offering her these names for sale and according to Linda's post on her blog on October 8 before the shutdown,

Last year When she had that small impersonation beef with the owner of , I thought she would take the hint and buy off all variants of her name but apparently Linda carried on with her show like there was no problem at all.
What or Who is Linda Ikeji?

This needs to be answered because, if you don't care about daily gossip in Nigeria then you need the explanation.
Briefly, Linda Ikeji is an ex-beauty queen, turned successful blogger in Nigeria. Her blog is ranked No. 10 on alexa and No. 1925 globally. She acquired a range rover 2014 edition recently and caused a lot of stir, which could have pissed off this dude suing for plagiarism... or not.

Many Nigerian bloggers live for copy and paste style of blogging, so much that they don't know even know it's plagiarism. This guy (Ayedee) just knew who to hit and it would hurt though.


5 Lessons Every Blogger Can Learn From Linda Ikeji's Plagiarism Saga

1. Get a Custom Domain

I think she should have bought a custom domain and kept it aside for times like this.
I used to have a .com for this blog but when I started taking my blog seriously, I bought the domain name fast before someone else did. Linda looks like she didn't realise when her hobby turned into a big business

2. Get professionals to handle your business when it grows.

Your blog has the ability to grow and become big business. Linda probably didn't realize when her hobby turned into a big business so she kept running things by herself. If she had pros around her, they wouldn't have let her roam free without securing a custom domain name.

3. Register your business offline

Register your business offline with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in case of any litigation such as this. That way the company can represent itself. You can save some of your money for yourself while the company can file for bankruptcy depending on your books... And how smart your accountant and lawyer are.

4. Stop plagiarism

Some Nigerian bloggers choose to call it copy and paste as if that makes it a lesser crime. In court, it will be called plagiarism and you will have to pay for doing it. Plagiarism has taken down a lot of creative people even though they rose again, ask Fareed Zakari of CNN.
Linda can rise above this too. Maybe if she apologizes and becomes an activist against plagiarism. Before you know it, she could be celebrated again.

5. WordPress Won't Save You

If you are a copy and paste king or queen, moving your blog to WordPress from Google will not save you especially if you intend to carry on with the copy and paste nature. What happened to Linda can happen to any blogger, no matter what platform you are on. In Linda's case, Google is her host and they pulled her site from their server. If you go over to WordPress and use Hostgator as your host, if you plagiarize, and you are reported, they will suspend your site.

What will save you ultimately is, when you copy and paste, also copy the name of the website you took content from plus their URL, then link back to that site stating that the story is not originally yours. That way when the dog bites, your butt will be in tact.

dwittyc0der: 1. Your startup is a solution to a “WANT” and not a “NEED”. If you can remember your basic economics, you should know what “WANTS” and “NEEDS” are.

Quickly, I would define a “NEED” as something you have to have, something you can’t do without e.g. food, clothing and shelter, while a “WANT” is something you would like to have. It is not absolutely necessary, but it would be a good thing to have. A good example is music.

When developing your startup idea, ask yourself, “is what I am creating a solution to a NEED or a WANT?” According to the Nigerian Bureau of statistics 60.9% of Nigerians in 2010 were living in “absolute poverty” i.e. less than $1 per day.

Do you think that taking a hiatus to create a music startup to enable these people living in abject poverty listen to music amounts to a good use of your time? or “skills”?


2. Your startup is a clone of some popular first world website or application. The current fad in Nigeria is creating clones of Groupon.com. It once used to be Twitter clones, bulk sms and then Facebook clones.

Why coders still do this kind of beats me. Instead of cloning, why don’t you build on these sites and take advantage of things like Facebook’s “Social Graph” etc and develop innovative solutions?

Developing another DROPBOX wont meet the need of the average Nigerian, he has no need for it, and if he does why wont he go for the original? Patriotism? please!

Why would you clone when there are a myriad of problems you could develop solutions for? If you are developing a clone, ask yourself this question “why would anyone use this (***insert the name of your clone***) instead of the main thing (***insert the name of the website you cloned***)?” .

3. Your startup will require loads and loads of traffic i.e. pageviews with gullible people who would be ready to click on Google ads before it can generate income.

In Nigeria, there are no VC’s, no Angels, no startup accelerators, no Government support programs, no infrastructure, regular electricity supply is a pipe dream, Internet access is patchy and expensive, in short, “NO NOTHING”.

So it kind of beats me why anyone would base his startup’s business model on the benevolence of Google? In between the time your startup comes online to the time it can generate enough traffic to keep the lights on and the servers humming, how would you survive?

Do you have some gold bars stashed under your mattress somewhere? If not, why don’t you just develop a product where you can start charging from the very first day?

Despite the fact that 60.9% of Nigerians live under $1 per day and there are 90 million mobile subscribers in the country with at least 1 mobile phone, these phones have to be loaded with “call credit” by these people because communication has become a NEED and not a WANT.

So despite the grinding poverty in the country, the major Telco’s still declare mind boggling profits every year, with Nigeria now having the largest mobile phone market in Africa with 60% penetration.

So in order to be successful, develop a solution to a NEED and not a WANT.

4. Reading too much of TechCrunch et al. These tech blogs are written by elitist white techies who live in Silicon Valley where the difference between over there and here is like light and day. Any advice you can glean from those sites just isn’t applicable here in Nigeria.

While I agree that we need to build our startups around a need not a want, I disagree that when you copy an existing successful business it won't make it. The trick I think is in tweaking what you copy. If I am able to copy Dropbox today, I will try to add a little extra to it. Nairaland may be the biggest Nigerian online forum but it is not the only one.
I know a lot of Nigerians that are blogging are doing so because they hear you can make money from blogging. Then they head off to copy and paste contents on their sites... (We'll now google is not approving such for adsense).
I believe that you can blog or do anything you want to do no matter which big dog has done it before, you will still have your audience if you know what you are doing.
Developing your startup around a need requires a lot of brainstorming and I believe lots of humans run from that. A few exceptional people dare and get it right. But while that is going on underground, the normal continues.

read the last reply I gave u concerning labels. When u are preparing a fresh post, for example if you are writing about psquare, u can give that particular post labels like music, psquare, entertainment (separated by commas)

@wasak, pls go to settings and switch back to simple template, that should take ur blog off perpetual mobile mode that u have put it in. If it doesn't work, still got to templates in settings and scroll all the say down, click on revert to classic template. Then try and blog some more, as long as the content is original from your head.

@vosquare: if you ask me I would star with deleting most of those stuff that you copied and pasted word for word. How to do these kind of posts, even if you want to copy is that you have to copy it into a word document and rephrase it so that it will sound like it is coming from your own head (blog some from your own head too, nothing do you)... Google knows that there is no way in the world you could have generated up to 500+ content in just about 2 months. They wouldn't even need to parse your work to know you dubbed it. Get those things off your site and let's start with original contents or rephrased contents (as well as titles).


Also pls, when you open each of your posts (edit), look to the right and you will see labels, pls add labels that fit each post. Example, if you wrote about love or entertainment, for each post, list out a few labels that best describe that particular post. That way your posts are kinda categorized.

Ok, man. That's classic rejection page from google.
I've been to ur site and I saw what you have. I can't guarantee an approval but I will tell you what I think should be done in the right direction.
1. Change the titles of most of the articles. You got some from that1960chick.com, and when google crawls, it's word for word copy and paste.
Rephrase the articles into ur own words.
2. It's not the just volume of article u have that will do it but original content, ok that's like number one too.
3. Go to your settings and create pages. Home, About us, Contact
4. Create categories for your blog and place each post into a category of its own.
Do these lets see.
Your blog is already launched (online), that phrase was not referring to you. Your content is their problem right now

When you are in Compose mode, hover your mouse on the buttons there, there is one called READ MORE, place your mouse on the area you want to break the post from and click on the read more button. When you save and check your blog post, it should have a read more link. Hope it helps and if it does help, edit your older posts and do the same thing to them

Pls change the color of your blog, the blue is intense to me OO... Then stick to a particular niche/area. It helps to know what exactly you do. Like you blog title is saying you blog about political issues and literature...and the blog posts are like love stories...choose an area that you are strong in, an area you will not struggle to talk about and the sky is your limit. That's my ten cents. All the best

You may need to log into your adsense account and click on My ads - Create ads depending on the size you want. I think you can only display three ads in sites that are not . (not too sure now)...
Anyway create the ads, load the ad codes, copy the ad codes and

Go over to your website dashboard and place the ads where you want it. If you are using wordpress, you can download the Quick Adsense plugin, it helps in placing ads where you want them by pasting the ad codes where you want each one to appear on your site. There are still other plugins for adsense...that's the one I use.
If you would like one on your sidebar, then go to appearance-widgets and drop the Quick adsense widget where you want on the sidebar.
