Also, with the majority of the population being young. Their elders have manipulated them with lies as to why the country is not working without revealing their own culpability in it's demise. If your uncle pay bribe, auntie inflate contract, sister wants to build flats using cheap material, whose fault is it now? When you point a finger, 3 fingers point back at you!

It is a damned shame what goes on in this country. I happened to be working in a Nigerian commercial bank that was one of the lenders that financed these Dana planes. Another friend of mine was part of the lawyers that worked on the documentation of the financing. These Dana planes are 22 years old! The engines are refurbished and we raised these issues during the transaction but nobody listened. Everyone was eager to close the transaction and move on.

On a related note, a friend who lost the mum in the Sosoliso crash informed me that the compensation has not been paid because the airline was not insured!! It is against policy to fly an uninsured aircraft but someone in the NCAA approved that Sosoliso airline to fly without full insurance coverage.

You hit the nail on the head, corrupted vested interests turn a blind eye as their palms have received pecuniary remuneration. However, when the shit hits the fan (like today), because they are all tainted, no one can do/say anything - because their own peccadilloes will be aired...so as their silence continues, the burials gather steam and the masses are complicit by their silence. Merde!

A People's revolution - instead of gun's, like the Indignados in Spain - use pots and pans - bring out the infirm and deposit them in public places, let the open sores of society confront the puppet-masters. Name names, shame - set up a people's court and try people pronto!
Nairaland GeneralMiami Face-muncher Is Nigerian! by UKBobo(op): 9:36pm On Jun 03, 2012
Now, I know the guy who did this was Rudy Eugene (from Haiti). However, what he did and what is happening in Nigeria now is the same thing. Corruption has eaten away the fabric of society, that what Rudy did is nothing in comparison to what is happening on a daily basis in Nigeria. People die every day through a lack of healthcare (plus counterfeit medicine), bad roads, bad planes, no light, no water etc...

At what point will it take Nigeria to have a France '1789' moment and force a new political agenda onto the old guard that have compromised your future and that of your progeny?

After terrorism, the next big threat to Nigerian security from beyond our borders are the drug cartels of Latin America.

Drug cartel product + Nigerian desire for money = Armageddon

In Sierra Leone, couples marry peacefully across religious denominations - however I think like most things in Nigeria, (from weddings, elections to football teams)it is a 'do or die' affair so myopia, intolerance and stubborness reign.

I think the OP needs to...

(1) Close down his laptop and interact with rational, thinking adults (preferably over 45) and non-CIA, Mossad, Shining Path, IRA, Massob, Boko Haram, MEND, Mujahadeen, Reak IRA, Khmer Rouge, MI5, members, ex-members, live operatives or sleeper cells.

(2) DO not read or listen to any political discourse for 12 months.

(3) Take all medication proferred in his direction.
RomanceRe: Very stupid by UKBobo(m): 6:05pm On Mar 30, 2012
Myopic, small-minded people. He knew this at the start most ikely, so he is also to blame. I am a white English guy in a relationship with a Yoruba woman. We had big problems at the start of our courtship due to her family wanting her to settle down with someone from her uncle's village. If he is not willing to back your relationship, then there is no point in fighting family and your boyfriend. Let him go. If he is a strong man (of mental fortitude) not muscular size and he was willing to fight for his love, my opinion would be different. It seems that he is resigned to follow therir wishes...so the writing is on the wall, I'm afraid.

All the best for the future.

For those who understand that 'wahala' is not localised but has a global aspect, currently in the UK there has been a run on fuel and fights at the forecourts just at the hint of there being a possible strike. As you say in local parlance, 'Kai'.

Twitter is now seeing a rush of people reporting scuffles and fights as tempers fray at petrol stations.

3.12pm: Here's a brief update, via PA – talks at Acas will not beging before Monday, the conciliation service has said.

3.03pm: An interesting snippet from the AA. Based on just the figures showing yesterday's 81% rise in petrol sales on the same day a week earlier, with a 43% rise for diesel, the government will have made an extra £32m in fuel duty, it calculates.

2.58pm: A slight update on our earlier posts (here and here) about Acas talks involving Unite and the fuel haulage companies. According to Dan Milmo both sides are close to agreeing the terms for talks, rather than actually agreeing to have talks. We'll keep you posted. Either way, it doesn't appear that an actual strike – the supposed cause for all this fuss – is going to be called immediately.

2.50pm: Inspector Gadget, the anonymous officer who has blogged on police work since 2006, has posted an update on his (equally anymous) force's response to the fuel situation. He's not too impressed:

One more for you. Same applies to the UK guys in Nigeria.

1) Rather than use the legitimate opportunities before them, there is a corrosive, get rich by all means mentality.

2) There seems to be no collective responsibility that their actions will impact on other nationals looking to do legitimate business.

3) What does he expect his children to

She is a product of her environment and expects such. My girlfriend Funmi (she came from Nigeria five years ago) also had similar cultural views but now understands that we have to work as a team. Funmi has two friends who married women back home and they both broke up within the first three years, due to excessive expectation and differing expectations of what a partner should provide and cater for. Money issues are in the top three of relationship breakdown excuses so you need to find out her world view and gauge whether her mind is open to change, reason and discussion. If she is the stubborn type, RUN and don't look back.

I find Yoruba people very warm and accommodating but they like to argue too much and the men are rampant womanisers of anything in a skirt. I know a (Femi) guy (we were at University together) who lives in Leeds who has eight children from four different women. He is very smart but cannot keep his fingers away from a G string.

It is never a surprise to know about thrashing of Nigerians. They are notoriously awful in character and conduct. Many of these Africans who are coming to India for studies are found be drug racketeering or smuggling activities. Govt of India should verify their background before issuing visa

Your people in Brazil jails for drug trafficking. Even a grandmother that should be thinking about her next siesta is willing to carry KG.

http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2011-11-28/ahmedabad/30449613_1_prison-guards-nationals-foreign-prisoners

Food becomes a major issue for the prison officials. Last year, a Nigerian national had tried to hang self using his clothes as noose at Sabarmati central jail. The prison officials however prevented the incident and resolved the issue with rational supply of eggs and fruits.

"Out of the lot, we find Nigerian nationals a bit violent and not ready to adhere to the rules. In this particular incident, a Nigerian national who was caught without documents by Ahmedabad rural police last year, wanted to have chicken. We refused repeatedly. He then started demanding freedom and asked us to open the cell. We told him to wait till the next day. When a guard went near the cell, he assaulted him and nearly choked him," narrates a senior prison official.

See how your brother started World War 4 over simple rooster! LOL. You people are too much.

In Saudi, they behead your brothers like it was an Olympic sport.Qorbi bin Mussa Adam, who was convicted of murdering a Saudi national, was the second Nigerian to be executed in Saudi Arabia this year. The other Nigerian, Jamil ‘Abbas Shu’ayb, was beheaded in May.

In both cases, the Saudi Arabian authorities have disclosed very little information about their trials but Amnesty International said that these are likely to have been held in secret and to have been summary, as in the case of Suliman Olyfemi, another Nigerian who remains at imminent risk of execution in Saudi Arabia. He was sentenced to death in 2004.

Suliman Olyfemi’s trial was held in secret and conducted in Arabic, which he does not understand, without adequate interpretation facilities. He had no legal representation or any legal assistance.

It is feared that he was tortured while held incommunicado in pre-trial detention to force him to “confess”.
