I signed a contract
If you signed a contract that you'll pay for leaving before the end of 5 years then that might count against you.

I hope it all works out though

Not the terms of dismissal that is the issue because I have gotten my visa is the money to pay
Your previous post isn't clear.

Isn't your visa tied to the employer?

Also did you sign that you are going to pay £10,000 before starting the job?

Hello guys, please I urgently need your advice on this:

I am a cybersecurity specialist, currently working in a cybersecurity company here in the uk for about 8 months now. I just landed an offer with an NHS trust for a cybersecurity role band 7. I was surprised not to see anything regarding sponsorship on my offer letter. I tried reaching out to the HR guy in charge of my recruitment to seek confirmation regarding the sponsorship but he won’t respond to my emails. However, I sought a few guys’ opinions and I was told NHS always gives sponsorship for tech roles and that it’s almost cast in stone.

My current employer is actually willing to sponsor me towards my visa expiry which is in 6 months, but it’s just that I prefer the NHS role as it’s more senior and strategic.

I need to tender my resignation in 24 hrs to fulfill my 1 month notice period. I don’t know if I should maintain the assumption that the NHS trust will sponsor me or I should just stay put where I am sure of CoS.
This is a good problem. I hope others help with significant solutions

People can even be doing care and still keeping active in other professions while chasing ILR...

A friend is three years into support but still writing his CFA... ILR would soon come, CFA would be ready by then too.

He go come become biggest man... ILR and CFA. Sodiki.
Correct!

My suggestion to anyone I know who cares to listen is to let your clock for ILR be counting and keep working towards what you really want.

This means you failed to read my initial premise undecided

The guy in question left school after 1 year to switch to care worker COS. He did not finish or even attempt to apply for jobs in the chosen career area before switching. If it were a course like Intl Business and the like, its very understandable

No one said not to switch to healthcare sponsorship if time is running out; not even attempting is what baffled me

His life, his choices at the end of the day

People will choose what they want depending on their risk appetite and how they perceive their strengths, ability to hold out / delayed gratification etc
But why should it baffle you?

What if he realized that cybersecurity is not his passion?
Or he genuinely wants to use care work visa as a stepping stone. I know someone who started with care work and transitioned into occupational therapy working for the NHS now and doesn't do bedside care anymore. Infact she got the OP role in the NHS just one year into her tier 2.

And for many, survival first especially when you have a spouse and children. Being a parent means you make sacrifices for the good of all.

He won't be doing it forever.

He can change career 100 times if he wants.

The grass is greener on the other side.

I've heard a couple of unpalatable first & second-hand stories from immigrants in Canada and Australia. Most sound grimmer than the UK experience.

Since COVID hit, the world has been in turmoil and the UK as with other first-world countries are not immune to the realities of that turmoil. Perhaps each country is facing it differently.

Do you know the unemployment rate in Canada and the state of social services and lifestyle? Same with Australia coupled with its tax system.

Agreed, the UK delights in tossing the migration coin at every opportunity but humans are evolutionary and policies are not just switched on and off at will. There are usually time to discuss and decide on them. Immigrants can also be jumping ahead of the unfavourable migration policies and curves or sit back in trepidation of the next migration news or policy.

Immigrants can chose to be reactive to every news piece on migration or just get on with their lives to the fullest whilst they're here. Guess how many immigrants have naturalised in the last ten years? Have the ruling class not been making "bold" migration statements since then?

From where I stand, this is a win-win game for both UK and immigrants. They need us, we need them. Nobody dey force anybody. Either party can flip the coin when they see an alternative. The UK will still be migrant-dependdnt in the next five years - which is a long time for immigrants to establish themselves or re-migrate.

Everyone's end-goal differs and that should ultimately be the motivating factor rather than floating with every news and hinted policy direction. Two of my friends left the UK for the USA this year because na their intent be that. Spoke with one recently and she's complaining about medical insurance. I literally asked her what exactly she wants.

In the long run, na goals matter.

As always, there are no perfect systems/countries there are just better ones. Choice the one you can cope with.
I agree

Let each person decide what they want and for it. I know people in Canada who have said they are moving back to the UK once they get their citizenship.

Seniors in the building, I greet una.

I recently got an interview invite for a civil service role (EO, Finance officer).

For those who have had the experience, what should I expect? What areas am I going to be accessed on? What are the likely questions?

I will appreciate your inputs please.

Thanks

What’s the name you call rent again?

Guys let’s come together and talk about this rent thing. I have paid over 10k on rent for a single room and each time I think about it it gets me very mad.

How do we break free cos I can’t continue paying this money monthly.
But you're paying for shelter. That's not a bad thing

Hi guys, please help out with your perspective on this:

I interviewed for a customer support role and two teaching assistant roles last week. Yesterday I got a positive feedback from one of the teaching assistant roles and I accepted their offer. (I’m stating the roles so I can get an informed perspective)

But this morning, the other teaching assistant role (this one pays the most of the three), and the customer support one also sent an email that I passed the interview.

My dilema: The guys that called yesterday specifically asked if I had commitments elsewhere or if I need to put in a notice elsewhere to know whether to commence onboarding documentation. And I said no.

Wouldn’t it be somehow now calling them to inform them I’ll be taking an offer elsewhere? 🫠
Look out for yourself o and go for what suits you best.
Employers only care about themselves at the end of the day. So do you

Another thing I realized recently is that many Nigerians actually qualify for the global talent visa stream. Many were just going for the student visa and care worker route simply because it is popular.
It's not only tech people that can apply for global talent visa.

Fashion designers, event managers, visual artists, even make-up artists also qualify.

hello people,

I am desperately in need of your help. My student visa expires monday. My Nigerian Passport renewal biometrics was done a month ago (collection date according to them is 31/nov/23) I am trying to apply for my PSW now and it would'nt go through with my expired passport. has anyone been in this situation before? how did you deal with it or do I need to contact a lawyer. I do have proof of passport renewal application though.
Let's wait for others to contribute but I think you should go ahead and apply for the visa with the expired passport than going out of status. Worse case scenario, they write back and ask you to send your new passport
