Though you have remained unusually taciturn since after the PDP presidential primary election which you fought gallantly but narrowly lost, it could not be hidden that you were not happy with the outcome of that election.

A pointer to that was your address to Rivers people on your arrival from Abuja after the ill-fated primary election.

Chief Ubah, who hails from Nnewi, Anambra State but resident in Oyo State, made the appeal when he was spotted sleeping in a coffin made for sale, a video of which is currently trending online.

When asked why he sleeps inside coffin, Chief Ubah alleged that he was scammed by the Oyo State Judiciary, as they fraudulently sold his house with fifteen documents — a scam, he said, was principally masterminded by a lady who claimed to be the girl friend of the Chief Judge of Oyo State.

He said his plight now is not only that his house was sold, but that his life is also being threatened by some of the people involved in the scam, as he had so far received no fewer than 47 death threats, which he said was the reason he had been sleeping from one coffin to another, for some days now.

Before post-colonial Nigeria lapsed into its current unitary state, while still passing off as a federation, regional security was largely within the purview of the respective regions, not the federal government. And it worked pretty well.

This basic arrangement was not by chance but by well-considered design. Despite their many failings, Nigeria’s indigenous founding fathers and the departing British colonists knew too well that you cannot secure a people within their region without their participation. Even the mighty British empire knew that it couldn’t secure colonial Nigeria without the participation of Nigerians in vast numbers.

In a diverse federation of equals (or even near-equals or unequals), Northern Nigerians shouldn’t be the ones exclusively or dominantly securing Western or Eastern Nigeria, and vice versa. When you do that, it becomes counter-intuitive to security and begins to look like belligerent occupation or conquest. It also destroys the neutrality of the security personnel, engenders ethnic profiling and extrajudicial killings.

Family members of Chinonso Omeh have cried out for justice over the alleged killing of Chinonso while under police custody at the defunct Awkuzu SARS now renamed State CID Annex.

Onyebuchi Omeh elder brother to Chinonso, who raised the alarm while addressing journalists in Onitsha yesterday said his younger brother Chinonso , 30, who operates a car wash centre at Ogbunike former Toll gate, was arrested on 4th February 2022 at the instance of one Austin Izunnwanne on trumped up charges of threat to life.

He said Chinonso was detained at Ogidi Police Station before his transfer to Awkuzu but police at Awkuzu denied them access to see him in the cell and even initially denied ever having him in their custody.

It was gathered that the gang, over the weekend, attacked and kidnapped four persons (two each) in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area and in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area respectively.

According to reports, the gunmen had entered Oko through Nanka for the kidnap operation and almost succeeded but for the prompt intervention of the police special force acting on a tip-off which engaged them in gunfire battle.
