At his home, a group assembled by the Honourable member began thumb printing the ballot papers in favour of the Andy Uba led APC. While the thumbing was going on, the law enforcement officers were tipped off of the activities unfolding at the resident of Ifeanyi Ibezim. His home was immediately surrounded by a joint task force of law enforcement officers. The security forces surrounded the home without the knowledge of the honourable member who was engaged in the thumb printing. Within minutes, the security forces barged into the complex and arrested the lawmaker.

In a press statement issued by Chairman, South East Governors’ Forum Governor Dave Umahi, the Governors assured that the issues will soon be addressed.

“We are aware of the various illegal orders of sit-at-home by different groups of state agitators for our people of South East to sit at home every Monday and from 5th to 10th November 2021.

Andy Uba’s hair-raising activities are unfortunately not confined to the international scene. The home front bristles with many examples. When James Ibori, the convicted former Delta State governor, was revealed to attempt to bribe the leadership of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with an unbelievable fifteen million dollars ($15m) in 2012, it quickly emerged that the slush funds were in the custody of Emmanuel Nnamdi Uba. Chibuike Achigbu, the chief executive of Chimons Ltd, a Lagos-based gas company firm, decided to take a fall for his associate, friend and boss, by claiming that the money was his, and not Andy’s. No one believed him.

Andy Uba submitted a false and forged secondary school certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), even though it is an extremely poor result. According to Uba, he got credit in only one paper, namely, Chemistry.

The school certificate result is forged because of a number of factors. He says he obtained the Senior Secondary School Certificate in 1974 at Union Secondary School at Awkunanaw, Enugu, whereas there was no SSSC system in Nigeria until in 1989. He also claims to have obtained the result from the Enugu State School system, but Enugu State was not created till August 27, 1991. He claims to have sat for Further Mathematics in the exam, but what was offered in 1974 was no Further Maths but Additional Mathematics.

A school dropout with a forged secondary school certificate wants to be the governor of Anambra State, the state with the highest number of educated and successful Nigerians, but also is pontificating on moral and ethical issues. What can he possibly tell youngsters about ethics when he is the symbol of amoral behavior?

The application for extension of time which was filed on 6th October by the office of the Attorney General is being opposed by Barrister Ejimakor. A perusal of the application shows that they are pleading for the discretion of the court to accept their defense despite its lateness.


In opposing the application, Barrister Ejimakor cited statutory and judicial authorities that disallowed inordinate delays in hearing cases of fundamental rights, especially in situations where the applicant is in detention.


Ejimakor argued further that “It beggars belief that it took the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation with presumably thousands of Lawyers almost one month after being served a fundamental rights suit to prepare a counter affidavit”.

As a caveat, Chief Uba who currently represents the south senatorial district in the Senate has been plagued with financial woes owing to large debt incurred by his numerous businesses.

In early 2020, Asset Management Corporation Of Nigeria [AMCON] threatened seizure of his assets owing to unpaid debt of N165.48billion as at January 2020. In Chief Uba’s response, he requested for the loan repayment to be restructured. He pleaded for a renegotiated payment schedule. The AMCON in a responding letter rejected the plea. The AMCON insisted the oil mogul pay up on his debt – less he will be faced with recovery actions. In particular, the AMCON instructed for Chief Uba to “provide a structured plan of how Capital Oil and Gas Industries intends to repay its indebtedness, in terms of source of repayment.” The letter is signed by Albert Nwanozie [Head of Legal Department] and Joshua Ikioda [Group Head, Enforcement].

Reliable sources within the fold of the APC revealed that Andy Uba, Hope Uzodimma and Malami pannicked and have been on each others throat since the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano bust their bubble at State House after meeting with the President.

The source confirmed that Andy Uba called Uzodimma after Malami’s faux pas to express his anger that the Minister has “messed-up their plans by letting the cat out of the bag early. On his part, Governor Uzodimma said that Malami misintepreted his role by making the emergency rule call at the wrong time when Obiano had audience with President Buhari and had the opportunity to make Malami look stupid.
