Latest reports say a deadly clash between two
rival cult groups, Degbam and Dewell, has
claimed the lives of four people in Obiakpu
Egbema in Ohaji/Egbema local council area of
Imo State, south-eastern Nigeria.
According to Vanguard report, residents have
completely deserted the community following
the deadly clash.
It was gathered that apart from the four
people reportedly killed, including Chief
Emmanuel Opara, property worth millions of
Naira have been destroyed during the clash.
Newsmen were able to reach Obiakpu.
However, they were advised by some
concerned escapees from the deserted
community to abort the trip.
“We are indigenes of Obiakpu. We are only
taking refuge in Nmahu. Please don’t attempt
going to Obiakpu. The community is very hot
and dangerous for you to visit now”, the
residents advised.
One of the residents, who simply identified
herself as Nkechi, said: “Obiakpu is now a
ghost town. The clash has left sorrow, tears
and blood on its trail. The cultists are very
deadly and they unleash mindless mayhem on
innocent people."

Three persons were on Monday killed in a
fresh outbreak of violence between rival
cult groups in Enugu , South east , Nigeria .
The cultists who struck at different
locations in Enugu on Monday night ,
gunned down the three victims, suspected
to be members of rival cult in an alleged
reprisal .
A source that pleaded anonymity named
the vikings confraternity and 22 s as the
masterminds of the latest cult violence.
Daily Independent gathered that one of the
victims was trailed to his family residence
at Ugbene 2 Abakpa and shot dead before
his parents . The victim was until his
death a student of Enugu State University
of Science and Technology ( ESUT) .
Two other victims were reportedely shot
dead at other locations in Enugu the same
Monday night .
To stop the situation from escalating on
Tuesday, joint teams of soldiers and
mobile policemen were deployed on patrol
of the campuses of ESUT and Institute of
Management and Technology ( IMT) .
Some of the staff and students who spoke
to Daily Independent said they came to
school and saw heavily armed soldiers and
policemen patrolling everywhere.

Four persons where feared dead yesterday in Ibaa
community, Emohua Local Government Area of
Rivers State as rampaging cultists took over the
community, shooting sporadically.
Community sources said the shooting started in
the early hours and lasted for about five hours.
At press time, Vanguard gathered that scores of
residents had fled the community. Nobody could
say what provoked the action of the cultists but
some community folks said it could be a reprisal
from the hoodlums.
Meantime, when contacted, the state Police Public
Relations Officer, DSP Ahmed Muhamaad,
confirmed the incident, saying security men had
moved in to restore nomalcy.
“The command is aware of the incident. Our men
are already there while normalcy has since been
restored. Three suspects are in Police custody in
connection with the incident,” he said.
A community source, who said he saw at least
four corpses being conveyed in a Police patrol
vehicle corroborated the position of the Police
image maker that peace had returned to the area.
