I have this funny story. Two years ago I bought a 2008 Toyota highlander online on www.iaai.com. I don't know what happened, but I didn't see the part that stated clearly that it was hybrid. The car was delivered straight to my mechanic who called me immediately asking me why I used my money to buy trouble. He made me feel bad. I have enjoyed the car these past 2 years. Haven't had any problem with the hybrid system and the fuel economy is something else. I could stay in the car for hours playing music and enjoying the AC with the fuel level remaining unchanged. My only problem is that I know it has little or no second hand value, and also that I can't easily find a ready buyer in Nigeria. I will not advise anyone to buy a hybrid guy. |
Great irony! They are doing everything possible not to be in the same country with you, while you are doing everything possible to be in the same country with them. Who should be saddened? flokii: |
It flew air peace from owerri to lagos last Friday with this guy. He just stood there at the tarmac as we boarded. No funfair. I fell in love with him right there. I think it is his nature. |
Dear commissioner, take your boys to the site and clear the said vegetation. Don't wait for accident to occur first. |
I think the problem is that a lot of people are so ignorant of how these things work. The amount quoted are not fake. Look at how it works. The banks are bidding on behalf of customers who have already fulfilled certain requirements. This include filling proforma involve and all the rest. The need for the foreign currency must also be for items included in the foreign exchange regimen. Since you haven't gone through that process, the banks are giving you black market rates. My problem is with the disparity between this rate and the black market rate. We know our immediate problem started with the exclusion of those 14 items from the foreign exchange regimen. They still haven't been included. They still will put undue pressure on the black narket. ifyalways: |
Man inhumanity to man. How can the whole world watch as Nigeria hold the Igbos hostage in this country. Nigeria should please let the Igbos go. They don't want to be part of Nigeria, and should not be forced to be. This is the only way the two parties involved can make progress. |
Why do you want it not to come? Is it because you love the Igbos so much and want to be part of the same country with them, or because you want people you can insult online to conceal the sadness you feel in your miserable life. Face your problem and leave the Igbos alone. They don't care about you. They don't want to have anything to do with you. You and your like make them sick. irunooboo: |
Why are some people so desperate to have this country as one. The same people would not mind divorcing their spouses over irreconcilable differences. We have irreconcilable deference in this country and we should not be afraid to divorce this union. Shame on anybody supporting forced marriage at this time and age. |
In as much as I support complete deregulation of the downstream oil sector, I disagree with the op's logic. First, there is no fixed petrol price in the US. It varies from state to state, and day to day depending on the global oil price. It is selling at about $190 per gallon as at today. A gallon is 4 liters. In January till early april, it fell to about $130 per gallon in Texas You have to also remember that the minimum wage in Texas is $9 per hour. So working regular 8 hours for 5 days in a week gives you 40 hours a week. So in a month, the least paid worker, without overtime gets $1440. At 340 naira per $1, that is almost N500,000. So we should always be careful when comparing. |
Funny enough I have a different opinion. The poster obviously has not lived outside Nigeria. It is the same in most countries. The only difference is the term used. In the United States if you have been there, you will find out you can hardly get any job unless someone recommends you. I can't think of any job I have gotten here in the states without strong recommendation. In most cases, it might just be a staff in the organization, not necessarily a very highly placed person. If you just put in your application online without anyone following up for you, nobody will pull up your application. Funny enough, all the jobs I had in Nigeria before I left the country some years back, nobody recommended me. Maybe it had to do with my field. |
tensazangetsu:It's not exactly true that trolleys are free in every airport outside the country. In UK, I paid at Birmingham airport while departing. I think I paid £1 to unluck the trolley. In US, at Bush Intercontinental Houston, I paid $5 to unluck it while departing. At both of these airports, trolleys were free during arrival. |
Wow. Can't believe so many people here do not know who Etim Esin is. Etim at a time was Nigeria ' most promising football player. He was though very stubborn. Remember when Nigeria was preparing for a major tournament then and all eyes were on him but few days to the tournament, he went out at night partying and was shot by armed robbers then. The whole nation followed his recovery. He was playing for Iwuanyanwu Nationale then. He later went pro in Belgium but had to run back to Nigeria following a rape allegation. Many see him as a wasted talent as he had the potential then of becoming the greatest Nigerian footballer ever. |
He is not a PDP member so the government as usual will be in a dilemma. So much for fighting corruption. |
Funny thing is that seeing these pictures instead of scaring any true Igbo will rather increase his resolve. It increases his hate and makes him to desperately want to leave Nigeria. |
Ijebulogic:Still wondering why it concerns you so much. You need to be Igbo to know how we feel. You can't understand it be mere reasoning. I understand why it is so confusing to you. |
My problem is always why some few guys on this forum hate the Igbos so much, yet so desperately want them to remain in Nigeria. There must be something so so great about the Igbos that some feel Nigeria cannot do without them. |
The writer has little information yet decided to write a long essay on something he knows nothing about. UPTH is University of Portharcourt Teaching Hospital. It is not a university medical center. They have so many doctors on call at any particular time. It is not the duty of a nurse to triage patients in a teaching hospital. The casualty officer ought to have seen the young lady first.. bed space or no bed space. Like someone pointed out earlier , in cases of road traffic accidents and other emergencies hospitals often admit patients on the floor. A tertiary health center cannot send a patient away . The other tertiary center in Portharcourt is BMH which is very far from UNIPORT. |
Exactly my thought. Fuel price in the United States has fallen from $400 a gallon to less than $200 a gallon between May 2014 and now. Why should it still be N97 in Nigeria. |
Thanks OP for the information. I felt it yesterday and was so scared. |
Wow. Remember her as a consultant dermatologist at University of Portharcourt teaching hospital back then. A great woman. |
Pathetic story. Just wondering if there were no staff or patient in the said clinic that night. |
Pcos is a very common condition among young women. It is a condition that can be managed so you don't need to worry so much. The management depends on what you want and there is no treatment. Since your problem now is mainly your ammenorrhea, cycle control with either combined contraceptive pills or progesterone will solve the problem. If you decide to get pregnant, ovulation induction with clomid or other drugs will help you. Removing your womb is not a treatment option for you. It seems your doctor has little knowledge on this or you didn't understand exactly what he said. See a gynecologist for more clarification. |
I believe Sahara reporters as usual sat in their office and made up the story. Assuming they didn't,were the doctors expecting the 1.9 billion naira to be carried to them in a Ghana must go bag. We love to criticize but we must know when to appreciate genuine efforts from our governmemt. The Lagos state government and the federal government have done so well and should both be commended on their collaboration to fight this scourge. They have shown that certain issues are bigger than politics. The press especially the online press should learn the same. The poorly trained press should know that the fund is not to be handed over to the doctors. The doctors can only complain if they lack things they need to work or if the working condition is not conducive. From the little i learnt, they are well taken care of. A young doctor working under me was contacted to work at the Ebola center. He told me the offer is 70,000 naira daily for a 6 hour shift. I haven't confirmed this from someone else but if it is true, then the doctors are well motivated to do the job and we should all commend the government for this. |
Resident doctors in Nigeria tend to forget that they are in for short training program. They are not indispensable. The consultants can run any hospital with house officers and medical officers. There are thousands of young doctors with primaries waiting and looking for places to do residency. Lift this suspension after six months, throw application process open to everybody and see if resident doctors will go on strike again. |
The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, General secretary, Barrister Musa and the Federation’s First Vice President, Chief Mike Umeh were engaged in a public show of shame in Abu Dhabi Friday when they exchanged blows right inside the stadium. It was gathered that problem ensued early evening when Chief Umeh accused members of League Management Committee of using “ better cars” than NFF chieftains. It was learnt that he then told a colleague that Musa was incompetent and was not fit to handle NFF matters. According to source, on getting to the stadium, Chief Umeh was given a Category 1 ticket and again he complained saying that every country was given 20 VIP tickets and wondered why he could not have one as NFF Vice President. During the final match between Nigeria and Mexico, Chief Umeh became angry again when he saw members of the LMC in the VIP Box and challenged the GS who said he knew nothing about it “Oga two of us are seating here, I don’t know anything about tickets, besides I just arrived yesterday “ the General Secretary replied. He was shocked when Chief Umeh said “you are a useless man . I have to trek five minutes to ease myself in a competition that belongs to us?” His statement angered Barrister Ahmadu and he ordered him to withdraw the statement. Instead Chief Umeh repeated it and the General Secretary said he was a “ hopeless man”. As they were sitting together they rose to their feet and went for each other’s jugular saying a lot of unprintable things. It took some time to get Musa to leave the seat for another one. A board member has called for a probe of the incidence when they get back home. “It was shameful to say the least. Chief Umeh did not behave maturely but there is need to find out where all our VIP tickets went to,” he said. http://dailypost.com.ng/2013/11/10/show-of-shame-nff-officials-exchange-blows-in-abu-dhabi/ |
I always disagree with doctors on this issue. Most doctors are bad administrators and are not trained as one. I am a consultant Obstetrician with about 15 years experience. I have worked with so many hospitals. My best experience was working in a catholic hospital managed by reverend sisters. Those ladies were perfect administrators. A doctor should be the head of clinical services in a hospital just like a nurse is the chief nursing officer and a pharmacist the chief pharmacist. The post of chief medical director should be open to seasoned administrators.A doctor with a course in management can vie for the post like any other person. |
Mayor_of_Lagos: It amazes me that Igbos are not outraged at this call by Kwankwaso and even no one at the political leadership in SE has given any response, formal or informal, in defense of Odimegwu. It is non of those my dear. We know that nobody is removing him. All gang up against Igbos will fail.Remember Ms Oteh is still at the security and exchange commission after a budget freeze. Remember Princess Uduah is busy renovating our airports despite all noise. Mrs Iweala is managing our finance despite all. What of Mrs Madueke? Last time I checked she is still in charge of the oil sector. Some Nigerians just yet don't get it. We wanted out but you people refused yet you are so scared of us. |
Thank you OP. I watched that debate and have been surpriced with the intepretation by both the sensational Nigerian press and the gulible youths. That section of the constitution is not about AGE of marriage. It is rather about age of consent. As a health professional I know that world wide including the USA that for the purpose of consenting for treatment that 18 is the acceptable age. But there is an exception. An emancipated youth can give legally binding consent. Emancipated youth is defined as a person under the legal consenting age who is either married, a parent or has left home and is taking care of himself. I am no Yerima fan but his point is that a married youth is an emancipated youth. He did not try to fix or change the age of marriage. We should always know the point before joining the sensational press to shout. |
I visited a friend that stays in Canal Estate Okata. The Ago Palace way is 20 times better than the Canal Estate road. I wonder why Fashola has negleted Okota this much. |
Will anybody still say that Igbos don't go to school? |
