Events happening in Abia should make all of us sad. Do we have to wait till the next election? I think no. We can do something before then. we can demand performance from our demented governor. The save Nigerian Group no matter what you feel about them helped in changing the equation when the former president died. A similar body in Abia state can change things.

Anybody with a blueprint should come out. I am game.

Don Ewexco: wht makes police escort to be involved?
that means our security agents are not as innocent as they appears
It might not be true. The law in this country is that no doctor should treat a gun shot patient without police report. Each time there is gun shot injury, the victim or relatives will get a report from the police before treatment. In most cases, the police will accompany the patient to the hospital especially if they suspect foul pay. The police in this case was only doing it's job.

PoliticsRe: Senator Hope Uzodinma In Certificate Forgery Scandal by uncleu(m): 3:06am On Jul 24, 2012
I think their is no criminal offense here yet. According to point blank he claimed that on his facebook page and during interviews. The question is: what did he submit at INEC office? The writer should have at least cross checked. He should have also placed a call across to the senator for his side of the story.

Talking about this Hope guy, first time I had about him was as a youth corper in Imo state in 2002/2003. Preparing for the 2003 general election, Imo PDP held an elaborate fundraising ceremony shown then live on the local state TV station. Hope from no where stole the show as the highest donor. Not sure of the amount now but certainly above 100M naira. He became a god father overnight. People said a lot about his character then.

7 years after crash in Lisa: BELLVIEW WAS BOMBED–Red Cross Chief

Seven years after the crash of Bellview Boeing 737 flight 210 plane at Lisa, Ogun State, in which 117 persons died, it has been revealed that the aircraft was bombed. The Abuja-bound aircraft that took off from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, on October 22, 2005, crashed few minutes after it was airborne

A top official of the Red Cross, Professor Charles Ohiku, made the startling revelation in an exclusive interview with Sunday Sun in Lagos. Prof Ohiku, who led the Red Cross rescue team at the crash scene, said that unlike the recent Dana plane crash, no human skull was found at the scene of the Bellview crash because it was blown up.
“I headed the rescue team at the Bellview plane crash site at Lisa, Ogun State. That plane was blown. That is why the probe report can never come out till tomorrow. “That plane didn’t just drop from the sky. By the time we got there the following morning, we could not find even one human head.

“You know, at the Dana plane crash site some incomplete human bodies and heads were recovered from the crash site. But in the case of Bellview crash there was no single head or a skull. Quote me. “I was there as a representative of the Nigerian Red Cross, and I can tell you categorically that no single skull was seen or picked up in a crash of that magnitude and the number of passengers involved.

“How can anyone explain the fact that with 117 passengers and crew members in the plane no single head or skull was found during rescue operation, even though there was no survivor?” Asked why anyone would bomb the plane at that time when there was no Boko Haram or any other serious security threat to the country, Prof Ohiku said some people might have felt that somebody in that plane, who was considered too close to the President at that time, was being groomed to take over from him.

He recalled that Dr Iyabo Obasanjo, who was then Commissioner for Health in Ogun State, gave his team a note to the General Hospital and, “then we packed them (mangled bodies) in a case, the one they use in packing corpses.” The Red Cross chief was emphatic that there was no single head, “even as strong as the skull is,” when his team got to the scene.

“My parents had been at Lisa 10 years before that crash, so immediately the plane crashed I was one of those who got there first in the morning. And many people didn’t know where Lisa was before the crash that brought the quiet village to limelight.”

He continued: “Why have they not released the black box findings? They will not do so even till tomorrow. And you all know the personalities in that plane. One of them was Waziri Mohammed, chairman of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) then. Majority of the people on that plane came from Ota Farm to board the plane. They came from Ota Farm to Lagos to board that plane at Ikeja Airport, and the plane landed at Lisa, Ogun State, imagine that.

“The general rumour at that time, mark my word, was that Obasanjo was preparing that very man, the NRC chairman, for the presidency. We found legs, hands and some other human parts, but no head. I would like somebody to explain how that came about,” Prof Ohiku said.

Among those who died in the crash were Chairman of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), chairman of the defunct People’s Bank, Mrs Maria Sokenu; and the Post Master-General of the Federation, Alhaji Abubakar Argungu.

Also on the list of casualties were the Personal Assistant to the Post Master-General, Mr S. Eneware; chairman of Nigerian States and Local Government SMEs, Mr J. Agharitte; and Mr L. Adele, a South African television producer.

PoliticsRe: Repairs On Third Mainland Bridge Postponed Indefinitely. by uncleu(op): 9:31am On Jul 01, 2012
I think the ACN lead government was trying to take the credit. They should learn to give credit to the federal government when it is deserved.
PoliticsRepairs On Third Mainland Bridge Postponed Indefinitely. by uncleu(op): 8:47am On Jul 01, 2012
• Motorists, Road Users Fear ‘Hard Times’

THE Federal Government may have indefinitely suspended the proposed repair work earlier scheduled to begin on the Third Mainland Bridge today, thus putting the controversy with the Lagos State officials over the matter to an abrupt but temporary end.

Lagos Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Charles Nseobong Akpabio, yesterday disclosed in an interview with The Guardian that the postponement was intended to put more measures in place.

Akpabio said there would be an all-stakeholders’ meeting later in the week to discuss a new take-off date.

But, when The Guardian contacted the Lagos State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, he simply said he would not comment on the matter.

Akpabio urged all motorists in the Lagos metropolis to go about their activities and wait for further information on the bridge repair.

The FRSC had explained that traffic information would be communicated from time to time via Radio, Television, Newspapers and social media network.

The repairs on the all-important Third Mainland Bridge was earlier scheduled to commence today and to end on November 6, 2012.

The commission added that as the lead agency in traffic management in Nigeria, it had concluded plans to coordinate the various traffic agencies involved in the exercise.

He noted that Section 15 of the FRSC Act 2007 clearly stipulated that the operation of the Corps should cover all public roads, adding that the Corps statutory responsibility is to control and enforce traffic regulations on public roads “as we did during the 2008 maintenance work on the Third Mainland Bridge.”

But motorists yesterday decried what they referred to as “impending dreaded bad days for users of the Third Mainland Bridge.” A senior banker, Mr. Sunday Omoyiola said it would be “stress time for motorists and others working on the Island, as “no employer or manager would take any excuse simply because they are repairing the Third Mainland Bridge.”

According to Mr. Omoyiola, those that have businesses on the Island “will come back late and wake up very early to get to work.” Time is money and since you will waste a lot of time on the road, you there is huge economic loss,” he said.

Mr. Eugene Iyamah, Managing Director of Choice Ltd, a Lagos-based consultancy outfit, said although the measures being taken by the FRSC and other traffic agents would mitigate the negative impact motorists could face, they (the motorists) are bound to experience hard times once again.

On how he plans to adapt to the changes, Iyamah said, as a self-employed user of the route, he would simply adjust his time to avoid the “rush hour,” especially as maintaining the regular schedule would see one “ramming” into the “chaotic period.”

The retired banker, however, noted that the repair of the bridge is in the best interest of Nigerians given the strategic and socio-economic relevance of the bridge.

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State had, last week, expressed concerns over unilateral declaration of closure of the bridge by the FRSC, contending that the control of traffic by the FRSC is only restricted to trunk roads.

“A trunk road by definition is a road that connects two states like Lagos Ibadan Expressway, that’s where the FRSC should be not within the territory of the municipality of a state but having said that, it is that encroachment of responsibility that might be responsible for the inadequate information,” Fashola explained.

However, speaking during a joint press conference in Alausa, State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Obafemi Hamzat, his counterpart in Transport, Opeifa and Information and Strategy, Adeyemi Ibirogba, explained that there would be no closure, as earlier feared by residents, but diversion of traffic on the bridge.

Diversion on the bridge was to occur between 12 midnight and 12:00 noon.

In the morning, between 00:00am and 12:00noon, traffic will be diverted for those coming from Lagos Island to the mainland –– at Adeniji Adele, motorists are expected to divert to carter bridge and thereafter proceed to Iddo where the redistribution will take place –– while inward Lagos Island traffic diversion will commence from 12noon from Anthony-Oworonshoki inter change.

hildaa: Hello Doctor, i am 41 years old, do i have any chances of becoming pregnant? cos i have tried for the past 1 year, to no avail. meanwhile i am still ovulating perfectly, please i need your help and any drug prescription that can help me to conceive, thanks.
At 41, the ovarian function might not be optimal like say when you were 25, but if you are still ovulating then you should be able to concieve if every other thing is alright. You must see your gynaecologist immediately. He must confirm if you are ovulating by doing an ovulation test because you might not be ovulating even with a regular menstrual cycle. He will also need to do a tubal patency test and a semen analysis for your partner. Your management need to be aggressive because of yor age. I wish you the best.

ubaida: HI Doc,
Am very impressed with the job u r doing.
Pls i have a major problem and its really disturbing me .The issue is dat my menstral period have not been stable since 2009, but afta some consultation it becam stable, also gone for hormonal profile assay an the result say that i have hyperproctemia and i noticed that milkly liquid come out of my breast.
I have taken bromocriptine and combined OCP (Contraspectives)for 6mths during dis period it was stable but wen i stopped taken it, i have not seen my menstral period. But i alway feel pains in my lower abdomen which used to happen when am expecting my period(wen it was stable).

Pls i need help
Your problem is most likely anovulation due to hyperprolactinaemia like the hormonal assay indicated. The bromocriptine prescribed was to reduce the prolactin level while the combined contraceptive pills were to regularise your cycle. In situations like this, the management plan will depend on what you want. If your problem is to get pregnant, ovulation induction could well solve your problem but if your problem is just need for a regular menstrual flow, the combined pills will give you that. Most management plans in anovulation are aimed at solving your problem or concern and not necessarily tackling the underlying cause. I will also advice you repeat the hormonal assay to know the current prolactin level.

Nellyd: This is an educating forum. Thanx to all d doctors in d house for the numerous directives. My own problem is dat,i'm so worried cos i wz confirmed pregnant yesterdy. I had a cs last yr Dec cos of high bp,i lost d baby and wz told to wait 4 upto a yr b4 taking in again. I really dont want to go thru cs again. Pls,what do i do? Thnks for ur anticipated response.
Vaginal birth after CS {VBAC} is possible and usually promoted by many gynaecologists but there are some conditions that must be met. Most will be sceptical with an inter pregnancy interval of less than 6 months as in your case. Discuss this with your gynaecologist and find out his view.
PoliticsRe: Goodluck Jonathan Exposes The Hypocrisy Of Yoruba Race by uncleu(m): 12:40am On May 30, 2012
Obiagu1: Nawa for this country. If this ugly trend of renaming already established universities after some politicians is not stopped, believe me every university in Nigeria will soon be bearing someone's name; very pathetic. By the way, who gave him the authority to rename the university, even if he is the president and the university a federal university, without consultation with interested parties that include the university management, faculties, students and alumni? This is silly and should be reversed!

There's a new university in Ekiti, if MKO deserves a university after his name, that could be named after him. Leave established universities along!
It's unfortunate but this has come to stay. we all know how Zik resisted all effort to rename UNN after him while he was alife. UNILAG like UNN is a brand name. For the demonstrating students i will advice them not to spoil anything because the school will be closed down and reopened say after 3 months with them paying for all damaged items.
