When you skip class, it means you do NOT show up for a lecture but when you skip a grade, you do NOT follow the normal progression like first grade, second grade, third grade, etc. Assuming a kid is supposed to be in 2nd grade and if he's well above the grade level intellectually, he can test out and skip a second grade and be in either third or fourth grade, depending on the level he is at. That's how you skip a grade and I hope I do NOT have to answer this question for the umpteenth time. In case you do NOT know, there are high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are taking college courses and can test out of those classes when they get to college. So, it's NOT unusual for kids to graduate earlier in college or graduate high school at the age of 16 or 17. And I'd appreciate it more if you ONLY speak on issues that you're very familiar with rather than making endless arguments.

Yes, MOST states have an age limit to which a child must be before he or she starts kindergarten. However, once you're in the system (meaning after you have started kindergarten), NO school would ever say that a student can NOT take any class because the student is too young. It does NOT happen. Here students test out of some classes and skip grades as well so that they can graduate much quicker.

The above points you made are all valid but as always in Nigeria, the system applies a one-size-fits-all approach. That's definitely wrong. You deal with issues on a case-by-case instead of using a blanket approach. I do NOT know about Nigeria, but there are tests used to assess the IQ of a child especially if the child performs beyond what's expected of the age group. In the US, the assessment is also used to determine students who perform below expectations and those students are offered help to bring them up to the level of their peers. All I'm saying is that the government MUST NOT discourage kids who are academically gifted from following their natural educational trajectory. They must use other means to deal with what they perceive as the downside effects, some of which you stated in your piece.

The issue that brought us here is that the government has decided to ban underage candidates from taking the CEE and my question is why? In case you're NOT aware, there are children that are gifted meaning they can talk, read and perform well above their peers. So, do NOT sit here and try to argue unnecessarily. You still did NOT state whether the underage candidates are flunking the exams. Apparently, that's NOT the case here. After all, I scored a 36 aggregate (highest possible score) when I took the exam in elementary 5 and graduated a year ahead of my classmates who followed the normal route of taking it in elementary 6.
