talent1: Bros I don't want to respond to your comments before but I think I av to now so as to clarify some unknown things.
Actually I agree with you that total pay 90k for their trainee, infact Mobil pay less than that but did u know how much dis people receive as salary (basic + allowance) after dere OJT and dey confirm dem, I doubt u know because if you know you wouldn't be saying all dis as dis guys can be paying ur 400k for u monthly. Besides, the certificate dey will give u after the training is a greatest asset that even those that are not employed after the training use the certificate to get better offer in Nigeria and abroad(I know some people dat are not employed by Mobil after the OJT and now dey av gotten an offer in middle east with the certificate dey gave them after the OJT and dey are earning better than dere colleague working with Mobil here in Nigeria.
U said famfa is a small producing company that it is not even among the first four largest indigenous oil producing company in Nigeria... I laughed when I was reading this...i doubt u know much about the production capacity of indigenous producing company in Nigeria...im saying dis categorically because im working with one of the indigenous E&P as an employee. ...pls can u list the first four largest indigenous oil producing company in Nigeria with their daily production capacity in terms of barrels?
I also agreed with you that NNPC have a share (60%) in any production field but with exception to marginal fields but famfa own is a different case which I will explain to u d reason. Did u know dat NNPC will take 60% in any field before development not after development (what I mean is dat if a field is to be developed after confirmation that the hydrocarbon in d reservoir is in commercial quantity, then the licence holder and NNPC will finance the project together according to their qouta 60/40, so its not that the license holder we finance all the project then NNPC will just be collecting 60% like that, which is what happened between famfa and NNPC which lead famfa taking federal government of nigeria to court). After famfa partner with chevron and developed the agbami field then federal government take 60% by force which lead famfa taking federal government to court and in 2012 famfa won the case and the 60% was returned back to famfa. so famfa hold 60% in agbami...60% of 250k barrels in a day u know what dat means...dats what famfa is taking home everyday since 2012 till date.
About famfa salary. ..if you have any chevron staff working in agbami ask him about famfa salary and d person will tell u...im sure u will be very shocked when d person tell you.
You think most of us dont know what we are doing for about to leave our companies for the training. .. I av about 5yrs of experience in oil and gas and im currently working as an employee (staff not contract staff) in one of d indigenous exploration and production company and im ready to join famfa even with a pay less dan 100k during training. Mind you this is experience position not trainee, so anybody dat participated in d training is already famfa staff not dat dey are dropping anybody after the training.
Still waiting for the list of first four indigenous e&p.
Babacha pls don't be angry with me in case you find anywhere in my explanation where u feel I addressed u wrongly...we are all here on this thread to enlighten each other...nobody is highland of knowledge. ..nobody is Mr know all. My explanation is still open for correction.
Thank u all Well Said...who no come nor go know.... |

I saw this shoe display picture and it reminded me of a funny experience. Sometime in the 90's. Not sure of the year. I was preparing to go back to the boarding school and needed to buy a school bag and some other stuff.
I left my family house at festac town (My F.T.T peeps, I hail una) for the 23road/42road market. As I was busy buying stuffs, I saw this very very fine bag, with the traditional Tommy Hilfiger Blue, White and Red colours.
Typical of 'Festac Boys', I was particular about designers. As I approached the shop, I realized to my disappointment that the designer name was written as TONNY HILFIGER, instead of TOMMY HILFIGER...my ibo brothers don come again..why spoil this kind fine bag, wey I for use go do guy for school...
As if the pain wasn't enough, the owner of the shop, a charming ibo businessman called out to me, in my mother tongue..'They always assume every light skinned person is Ibo'..Well, this time he was right..What do you want? I mentioned I wanted the bag, but wouldn't buy it anymore because the Tommy hilfiger wasn't spelt right.
He looked at me, with a confident smile like that of our very own 'Jidenna'..and said..in Ibo...Ahhhh, small boy, so you haven't heard, TOMMY HILFIGER is not feeling fine, infact he's at the hospital now, this bag was made by TONNY, his twin brother....Omo! I pick race, before the guy Jazz me, cos na december period...Someone who can confidently lie like that, can as well use me for money rituals....
Years later, my elder brother told me of his own experience..He was passing a electronics shop in the notorious Onitsha market, and saw a guy using black marker to add the letter S to some already branded 'HARP' Television sets...to convert it to SHARP TV...
A friend of mine, back then in Uniben (My Unibenghazi peeps I hail una), did not find it too funny, after using his savings to purchase a supposed 'YAMAHA' I better pass my neighbour generator to oppress neighbour's and impress the ladies...the Gen started to malfunction within a week...Typical of Engine boys, we attempted fixing it ourselves..As he was going through the manual, it occured to me to peel off the name YAMAHA pasted on the Gen, underneath, we saw the inscription Jinseng, Jianching, Jinxaling or some Chinese name like that...Na so my guy start to swear for ibo people...
Share your experience...

@babacha, I don't think a company will pay you N400k for chilling in classroom for some months, that will rather be too generous. Although the training will be cut shorter that what was planned originally. That is for production, mechanical and electrical/instr., who will constitute majority of the new employees.

SolutionsGuy: Where I dey? I dey around, I know you'll be going for interview in the coming days. Congrats to the invitees, you did exceptionally well in the test especially. It's funny to expect I will come to enumerate what the interview will entail.
However, get yourself prepared on behavioural-based interview method and what you can bring to the table as a "your position". What makes you different from others, is it your training, design, soft skills, etc?
DDE and HSE candidates should expect a more rigorous interview because they are not going to undergo structured training like others but a crash induction. Also there are a few guys from "nowhere" that have joined the competition. So, be at your best!
The only situation that will warrant calling more people is that significant number of those invited didn't show up for the interview or do perform very poorly. Best wishes! My Guy confirmed that He saw two strange faces during the HSE Engineer interview...that he never noticed them during the test...I guess they are the few guys from no where highlighted by Solutions guy above... |

SolutionsGuy: Calm down guys. Anxiety will not draw nearer the next stage, neither will it push that further. You will see, you will know.
However, as expected marking is over, approx 200 scripts of mainly multiple choice wouldn't be tough task though. Candidates are being ranked based primarily but not only on test scores. There's a compilation ( don't know if brought to test venue) containing qualifications, bosiet, exp/affiliate, etc. These are weighted with weak bias such that for example Mr A could score 5 points higher than Mr B, but B might be ranked higher for having BOSIET/MSc (for HSE/DDE) or HND for operators/technicians. A couple of guys had PhD though. This method wasn't designed to fail anyone. This exercise was cut out to be highly organized and professionally conducted. Merit is the watchword.
Meanwhile, as indications of the indigenous company in question emerged, people who know people have besieged the company directors pushing for their candidates, even those who didn't take test. Hopefully this will not scuttle the process, at least to a significant level.
As soon as the parties involved conclude arrangements, highest ranking ones would be scheduled for interview/further examinations. Different days for different categories. Successful ones are expected to start Dec/Jan.
I am only privileged to access some information. I do not work for any of the companies and at the same time, I have limitation as to the specifics that I can reveal.
These are current standings and one woman/man can stand and turn around the scenarios at will. So they are not cast on stone.
Good luck everyone. People will be contacted just soon. Solutions Guy...where you dey na? Wetin make we expect for interview..Any Tips? Your tips have been really helpful...Biko give us Solutions...Cheers Bro |

http://zikoko.com/list/the-hilarious-life-of-a-nigerian-medical-student/?utm_source=fb Hilarious Life of A Nigerian Medical Student When I was born, the plan was to be a baby girl for life and literally too. First day I heard... "you suck breast too much, I can't wait for you to grow up". But you see, life's not fair, I started walking and people started throwing around words like "responsible", "house chore" etc. School started and everything was smooth until I got to senior secondary class. Science class or art class or commercial class? Decided science class and then my mother decided to tell mummy Biola that always has an opinion about everything. Mummy Biola went.. And then, "this girl that likes to talk a lot, she should be a lawyer". Meanwhile, I was like.. So time for JAMB, I studied the brochure. I concluded on Medicine and Surgery. So first year in school, I was ready. New baffs, who this? Year 1 was a breeze! Year 2, Anatomy lecturer said "look beside you, that's your competition". Big texts, human bones, people started calling me " Doctorrrrrrr", I started.. First test and our scores were pasted on the notice board, when I saw my score.. Year 2 to year 3 break, went home and dad introduced me as a doctor to his friends, I was like.. Year 3. Restrategized and was ready. I wasn't going to fail anymore because.. First professional exam. Meanwhile, family and friends were very expectant. Results were released and yay! I passed. Time for wardcoat and actually dealing with real humans. Things took a different turn. Each Consultant* had their rule. When you resume in the morning, then you get to the clinic and there are no patients. And the Consultant announces an impromptu wardround "to keep you busy". Consultant then asks "Whose patient is this?!" and you have not clerked. But you signed for your clerking* partner in exchange for him to clerk your patient but he still didn't clerk. Consultant starts insulting you and your ancestors and a Registrar* now puts mouth. After you finish chopping that insult from your Consultant. Then, the person that was meant to clerk comes to say sorry to you. When you get to the hospital early the following day to clerk the patient and are feeling quite confident.. You finish presenting and the Consultant asks if you've seen a stupid person before and you reply.. And then, he asks you when last you checked the mirror. When you forgot to ask a question from your patient but you lied to your Consultant you did. And the consultant now asks the patient to confirm if you really did. And the patient answers "no". Then he asks the patient "have you seen this medical student before?" And the patient is hesitant. Meanwhile your classmates are behind you like.. After wardround, they come to pay their condolences. But you still believe tomorrow will be better. Exam time and everybody is like.. You and your study partner sit in the exam hall like.. First question- which of these is not unlikely to be true? "How was your paper?" And that guy that always passes comes to tell you yet again that the paper was bad. When you're the first person to finish oral exams. Then you start permutating your scores to see if you will have up to 50%. And finally, you passed. Then your finally have the time to go to those weddings your friends always invite you for. But through everything, you're still D Doctorrrrr Written by Zikoko contributor, Adeola Adedeji. Pidggin: Federal government job is good, but if you want to really grow in life, you should be open to taking risk and not just accepting things because of security. A contract job that allows you to have six months of free time is quite rare to come by. Yes, they can sack you at any time, but who says they would? Besides this, take a look at some Federal government retirees, they got so used to the security of their jobs that they did little for their own personal development and soon time passed them by. Remember the power of association? You will slowly start living a mediocre lifestyle because of the type of people within the civil service, Goodluck. Pidggin...Nice one, Wahali if to say I never marry, I for propose to you just for this singular advice..Association, personal development and free time matters in life too.... OP...That's a tight one...Job security matters though. However, I would weigh the other benefits of the contract job, especially talking from an Oil and gas perspective where some people are paid your monthly salary in one week yet they call them contract staff..where people are seen to work rotations of 2weeks on and 2weeks off or 1month on and off and end up working for 6months in a year ....As an Ibo Boy, money First...you can achieve a lot within a short time like getting your house built etc.....you could plan your life properly, start your masters, vacations, more time with your kids, side business etc during the 6 months time off......choose wisely, and remember, the riskiest thing in this life is not taking risks...

beatzone: A 16-year-old girl who was declared missing by her father in January this year in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the FCT was found at the weekend at her hometown in Benue State.
The teenager, simply identified as Maria, was said to have been found by her relations in her village who contacted the father who had almost given up hope of seeing his daughter again.
City News learnt that the girl was allegedly lured away from their Kubwa residence to Gwarinpa by a 21-year-old man suspected to be her lover. A source told our reporter that the girl spent the first two months of her disappearance with the man until he later got a job for her in a hotel where she was receiving a monthly salary of N20,000.
According to the source, trouble however started when the girl stopped receiving salary which she later discovered was being collected on her behalf by the suspect, without her consent.
“She became even more annoyed when she further discovered that her salary was being lavished on other girls by the suspect even when her own immediate needs were not being met,” it added.
City News further gathered that the girl who could no longer condone the excesses of her lover, decided to relocate to her village, rather than going back to their Kubwa residence for fear of the father’s reprimand.
“The girl had already spent three days in the village when her relations realised that she was there without the father’s knowledge of her whereabouts and therefore informed him immediately.
When contacted, the Kubwa Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent Nurrudeen Sabo, said the girl has been brought to Abuja from the village and is currently at the police station following a report by the father on her disappearance from home.
Sabo, who also confirmed that the lover, one Emmanuel John, had been arrested through information provided by the girl, said the matter is being investigated.

Jobs/Vacancies › Fake Nigerian Shell Recruitment Team..Beware! by Unibentested(op): 9:12am On Nov 06, 2015 |
Shell - A certain breed of conmen are picking their potential rich victims. They prey on people looking for work, often posing as recruitment managers in genuine companies.
A certain breed of conmen is using the oppourtunity of the collapse of the steel industry to prey on people looking for work who often pose as recruitment managers in genuine companies. Their trick is to use job offers to lure victims into paying upfront fees to cover supposed costs such as admin expenses and criminal records. The most likely victims are younger job hunters because they’re more likely to search online and the long-term unemployed who want a job so badly that fraudsters find them an easy target. A charity organization, Crimestoppers, revealed that victims of online job scams lose an average of £4,000. "Some victims have even turned up to workplaces expecting to start their new job - only to find out that the employer has never heard of them," the charity warns. An out-of-work oil industry logistics expert, Alan Winks was overjoyed that his years of experience in the North Sea had paid off when he was offered a job with Shell in Nigeria on more than £10,000 a month.
"Congratulations, you have been found suitable for the position," emailed the supposed head of human resources, Charles Gbandi. Gbandi also wrote to Alan on Shell letterhead and had a LinkedIn page apparently confirming his position at the company. But it was a sham designed to get Alan to pay for fictional costs such as immigration and insurance fees. "The letters are quite convincing. But fortunately I have a contact in Nigeria who warned me that the email address and phone number were fake, as was the official-looking stamp at the bottom of the letter.
When I got this job offer I was so glad. I thought it was genuine and that we would have a Christmas this year after all." Alan’s near-miss is not an isolated incident. Shell says it is inundated with queries about bogus job offers. The company warns on its website: "It has come to our attention that scam artists are impersonating senior Shell officials using fake Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts.
Members of the public are hereby strongly advised to note that any communication or correspondence via social media offering business contracts, scholarships, interviews or immediate employment, requesting payment at any point, is fraudulent and does not originate from Shell.
Anyone who receives these false solicitations is strongly advised to either disregard them in their own best interest or report them to the nearest law enforcement agency."
