Congrats. Sent you pm. Timgreat31: Visa approved Date: Tuesday 6th July Location: Lagos 1st Attempt Full Funding Program: Msc Sociology
I give glory to the Almighty God for the grace and favour I received. The questions were few. I believe it God's grace. And I really appreciate everyone who has dropped transcripts as well as one info or the the other that guided my preparation. Thank you all My appointment was for 11:15am. But I got to the embassy by 8am. Many things happened but no time to explain all that now.
My transcript below
VO: Good morning Me: Good morning ma'am VO: Where are you going Me: I'm going to Mississippi State University. (She started typing for about 30seconds or more) VO: What are going to do? Me: I'm going for my masters degree in Sociology. VO: What was your undergraduate course? Me: Sociology and Anthropology at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife. VO: What's your intent? Me: (I became fussy a bit, so I answered poorly) My intent, I want to study sociology at the masters level because I believe it will make a me better sociologist. (I knew that wasn't even to my taste). Then she cut in. VO: Wait, where do you work? Me: I work as a data analyst at xyz. (I thought I'd lost it that point, but I still kept my eye contact firm with much less tensed facial expression) VO: What's your intent? She repeated Me: My intent is to go for my PhD in sociology after this course so that I can pick up teaching appointment at my alma mater. VO: What was your undergraduate degree? She asked again Me: Sociology and Anthropology at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife. VO: Ok, congratulations, I will be issuing your visa. She reached for the white paper, circled the pick up location and passed my documents to me. Your issued visa will be ready in five business days... I didn't hear the remaining part again jare.
I packed my things and left. Meanwhile she mistakenly dropped my passport together with documents, but excitement didn't let it occur to me that I should call her attention to that. I sha packed everything and left. It was the security man I greeted well on my way out that called my attention to the error. He guided me back inside and another guard led me back to the window where I was attended to. Then I explained to the VO that she mistakenly returned my passport, I had to show her my white paper for her to believe. She oh thank you, took my passport and dropped into the trail.
The joy that flooded my heart was like the deep water that surrounds the embassy.
I wish you all well I'm your interviews. |

Sorry for this denial. Don't be discouraged please. I will strongly advice you to reapply prayerfully. Many times the outcome of the interview can't be predicted because the VOs are also human. Tayoade19: As promised, here is the full transcript of my encounter at the Lagos Embassy yesterday. I am sharing this to encourage someone and for the person to believe that with God, nothing is impossible and indeed there is a God who rules in the affairs of men. The key prayer focus should be favour. Fast forward to the experience/encounter. Two years ago, I was refused B1/B2 visa at the Lagos Embassy and when I was in the queue, I saw the same VO who refused me then and within me I was praying silently that God let it not be this VO who would interview me today. Lo and behold, I was told to go to his window and it was as if I had my heart in my mouth, I could feel my heartbeat because of the fear. He gave the lady in my front blue paper, I didn't listen to their conversation because I wasn't paying attention, I was praying within me. After giving the lady the blue slip, he was still speaking with the lady, then I was told to move to the next window which was vacant (instant answered prayer). However, when the VO who eventually interviewed me, asked the first question, I wasn't really stable because I'd thought I would be interviewed by the other guy. Let me not bore you with too much story. The interview did not last more than 3 minutes, here is the transcript;
GA: $18K Deficit: $2.5k VO: Good morning Me: Good morning Sir. VO: Pass me your passport and i20 (VO started typing) Me: I did VO: You are going for a master's program at the University of Nebraska right? Me: Yes Sir VO: Why this program? Me: (trying to become stable). My reason for this program is fueled by my interest in understanding the interactions between diet and human genes, the molecular basis of obesity. (VO was just gazing at the computer screen, I didn't know whether he was hearing me or not) VO: What will this degree do for you? Me: This program will expose me to both theoretical and practical aspects of nutrigenomics such that when I return to Nigeria, I will be able to contribute to the research projects of the metabolic research group of the bleep university where I work and for years I have been assisting them in this lab for their research projects. (VO was just nodding his head) VO: Are you married? Me: Yes VO: Is your wife going with you? Me: No VO: Why? Me: She is currently in school for her graduate program at a Nigerian university. VO: I think I will be giving you this chance, hang on a second (VO started typing) Me: Ok Sir. VO: Who is sponsoring you? Me: I have a graduate assistantship that covers the tuition and monthly stipend while my uncle will take care of the deficit. (I was surprised VO did not ask for SOA) VO: Your visa is approved. Me: Thank you, Sir. VO: Take your i20 along with you, you will need it at the port of entry and take your passport at this circled location, other information is on that slip. Me: Thank you, Sir. Enjoy your day! Na so I just packed my things commot from the VO's window and was just praising God. PS: For you to experience a seamless visa interview, the God factor is very crucial, pray and fast. For it is not of him that willeth nor of him that runneth but of the Lord that showeth mercy. For those who will still be going for visa interview, I pray that God's mercies will speak for you in Jesus name. Amen! AMEN |

tempem: Why would any soldier shoots a person who wants to purchase medicine? To me, I feel a heated argument would have ensued. But hey, I'm not supporting the inhumane act of the military personnel.
I just feel that in Nigeria, it's safe not argue with any of these folks carrying Guns... Personally, I don't argue with anyone holding a gun, even if I am on my right.
Once he shoots and kills you, that's all! You are gone. People can only sympathize and maybe, maybe, compensate your family. In most cases, the culprit might even be freed! So why waste my life?
Sp: Since there isn't law in Nigeria, it's best to be cool headed and just have your way. Yoruba folks will say: "Pe were ni boda, ko je ka rona lo."

Education › Re: My CGPA is giving me depression by uniquehealth: 9:34pm On Feb 04, 2020 |
Are you studying a course you really love? If yes, then like others have said, you might be having distractions or side attractions. Otherwise (that is if No) then don't hesitate to change your course to that which you will like or very close to what you will feel happy with. A course you just find naturally interesting or a character you exhibit without stress may define your channel of strength.
This present age has changed what education is all about. Don't go to any institution of learning to study a course you have no interest in and at the end graduate with such a poor grade. Even if you have studied very well and yet your grade is not the very best in your class, you are still able to transfer the knowledge you have acquired to a larger extent of building an enterprise in your own. Beware, it's better late than never!!! |

If op really wants to help this guy, let him check schools in Australia. Australian universities have fully funded scholarships for undergraduate studies and their accredited agents (check the schools' website) are also in nigeria. This is because one can't submit application on his own due to verification issues. University of Queensland Queensland university of technology University of Adelaide Western sydney university etc
Google this schools and also chech scholarship position.com Why always US if I may ask? Since he has Toefl ( with high score however), there are good schools abroad that will grant him full scholarship |

Op, your story is very funny. I am sorry but don't take my comment as being judgmental. You see, the reason why it's becoming difficult for you to hold on is that you are thinking too much about sex! In as much it lingers in your head, take for instance, always looking lustfully at ladies and trying to take a glimpse of their backside and body structure, you can't afford not to fall very soon at the cheapest sale with that kind of attitude. I think you may soon do it if you don't get busy and think about your fulfilment and purpose in life! Please get busy and forget about sex until when you are ready to be a good father and husband!!! |

neoclassical: I am also in need of answer to this question but nobody has been able to answer OP's question convincingly. What is the difference between 60% and 3.5 in the calculation? Anybody with a good answer should pls help us. 3.5 is the CGPA (cummulative grade point average) while 60% is the weighted average. It depends on the format the school uses to process it's students' result. Though many are accustomed to the CGPA format especially for undergraduate studies however, for graduate studies, the weighted average in percentage usually applies e.g in OAU, undergraduate uses the CGPA while postgraduate college uses the weighted average for results. If you consider some foreign schools, they prefer the CGPA format even for graduate studies e.g Canada and Australia. In summary, it depends on the school. No matter the type of format the final result it expressed with, there is a conversion system that can be applied to express it in either way |

Niageriaunite: I'm having guilty conscience already, how are wish we never dated she is too innocent to be hurt just too innocent You see, sometimes what we want truly is not what we eventually get. But if at that moment we are able to sit down and reflect, allowing our instincts and discretion to guide us and as well seek good counsel from people that matter and mature, older and successful than us, we may be able to accept what we have and build more on it to eventually have our taste. My dear, the attributes you mentioned about this woman are very important. Before you break up with her, why don't you consider taking her to a gym and fitness trainer who may advice on ways to slim down. I have heard of stories that something like this have helped. I wish you all the best! |

writefreely: There's nothing like religion in Nigeria, what we have is just another form of politics.
No one can end churches in Nigeria, the last time I checked, there are at least 2 in every street, and more are being built everyday.
What needs to be looked at however, is the fact that 90% of Nigeria's problems are caused by a few old men... 2 churches where? Maybe in southwest or south-south region. But it is a different story in the core north. |
