Education › Re: 6 Tips To Make Studying Abroad More Affordable by untainted: 5:51am On Mar 25, 2016 |
@OP, You may have good intentions but please don't confuse Nigerians here. What you posted specifically targeted American students who might be interested in studying abroad and not Nigerians. For Nigerians, studying abroad whether in the US, Europe or even Asia requires a lot of money unless you get full or partial scholarship. However, scholarships mostly depend on the strength of your application and in some cases your negotiating skills. Cost of living is another matter entirely. Good luck! |

Kangol99: He said there is high level of denial and conspiracy across some states, adding that health managers should not deceive executives by the pretence and silence. The minister described the denial of Ebonyi to report five suspected cases and one death as conspiracy of denial. He said every state should consider itself at risk and put measures to contain and prevent the disease. This blame game got to stop; know when to draw the line. Show leadershipa already FG; this is a freaking emergency!!! I don't remember ministry of health whining during the Ebola outbreak. The states cannot wag the federal government. ...and what is it about the things they will do in the health sector? Tackle this emergency first; campaign later. SMH |

The way that state handles education, I would only say even though an unfortunate incident, the affected students have no reason to fear. School will resume in no time. I have started encouraging my relatives to enroll their children in schools in that state. I envy the education policy there. Kudos to the administrators of education there. |

Kockane: I woke up this morning to an alarming topic on front page about EFCC sealing GTBank's building in Wuse 2 and I have to say both the original post and ensuing comments depicted an alarming level of ignorance.
So every beautiful orange big building you see now is a GTB building GTBank has only three branches in Wuse 2, one by Kiss FM, one at omega plaza and the one by Ap plaza, check the bank's website for a list of all its branches and see for yourself if this building will be listed as one. It's truly unfair to be misinforming the public this way, all in the name of sensationalism. This is the sort of misinformation that sends people to jail in saner climes.
Pls, Seun and other Mods should be careful to verify news first before putting them on front-page. This is so so embarrassing, unprofessional and puts the image of the Bank in bad light. Fast thinking |

@OP, Sophistry and nothing else. Unsuccessful attempt to attack Biafrra under the guise of intellectualism. (Mind you I am no supporter of Biafrra). Very watery piece.
From your logic (actually lack of it), people like Mandela, Luther, Malcom X, Hugo Chavez, Che Guevara, Castro, Sankara, Ghandi and the rest did whatever they did for purely selfish reasons.
By the privilege of their births, some like Mandela (a prince) just chose to be in prison for 'class' and not to free his people? How many attended the same schools with Abiola, Obj and even Fela and didn't make an impact even in their village? Do you have a problem with successful people? You are right to say education is the answer but a carpet condemnation of all successful people reeks of jealousy and envy. |

OP, I seriously beg you to go with this guy's advice. Don't FEAR! pharmroyle: OP... U are in a similar boat as I was in few weeks ago... LET ME TELL U HOW THIS WORKS Boy meets girl Girl likes boy cos he's exciting and fun etc They start dating and relationship becomes routine (doin same thing over and over nd over again) Girl gets bored nd starts wondering what life would be like with another guy (GIG effect) Guy suddenly realizes that his gf is 'changing' and tries to NAG her back into his life by arguing, begging, groveling, stalking etc Girl gets more irritated and asks for SPACE Guy becomes hrtbrken.... OP, ur relationship with this girl as u know it is over if u continue bugging her or pleading with her to go back to how things were ... She has obviously entered the 'i need space' phase so respect her decision and give her an entire 'GALAXY'.... This is the only thing u can do to increase the chances of u guys ever being together again.... If u have always been nice to her nd never offended her nd the relationship fails due to a fault of hers, trust me she would miss u at some point in her life when everything goes south for her. Walk away nd dont contact her, act like u are better off without her (i know ur thinking she's the best girl ever, but nah, there's even better) ... Let her experience other guys nd see what she lost... She may come back (plz experience other girls as well, life is short)... U may not even want her again wen she comes back (I know u would take her back tho, cos u think she's ur 'soul mate'...well she isnt! ). pharmroyle: Introduction?... Then this is not 'young love' and I believe she should be mature enough to realise how much harm this new attention she is enjoying from her male friends is doing to the relationship U have tried to talk things over with her U even brought up the suggestion of the introduction U have been trying to get back to the honeymoon phase of the relationship But i dont see 'Her' in any of these attempts to make the relationship work... She wants u to 'wait till you are balanced' but how would that balance come when the root causes of the imbalance 'her male admirers nd ur trust issues' are not sorted out... She needs to draw the boundary between u nd her other male frnds....nd bro if that boundary is not clear enough for u, i really suggest u give this girl a little break cos its better to have a failed relationship than a failed marriage |

Subject: NIGER WIFE VISA
Hi
Please could you advise how I go about applying for the Niger wife visa, my husband is Nigerian and resides in Lagos.
I am trying to apply as his wife for the indefinite re-entry into Nigeria so that I can visit him more often than I can at the moment with the high visa fees as a visitor, it is preventing us having a right to family life.
Thank you
Karen
So I am seeing positive results from my investigation
I am now awaiting for further clarification from the Nigerian High Commission, this could help so many non Nigerian spouses to be able to travel to Nigeria without having to keep paying visitor visa fees... God bless us all
I will be replying as I am sure the Niger Wife fees are exempt You are a very beautiful woman with a never say die attitude. Your husband is lucky to have you. May God continue to bless your union. I wish you luck in your noble quest! |

Anyway, if you a northerner and jobless or even underemployed, this is an opportunity to enjoy government largesse.

I often wonder what would have happened to not just Berom people but all the Christians in northern Nigeria if biafra had succeeded. These past forty years or thereabout have given northern Christians an opportunity to find their feet (often with a few massacres every now and then). Imagine a northern Nigeria without the NYSC, no access to southern media, no help from the Catholic church and the big pentecostal churches, no intermarriages, no access to public schools with church owned educational institutions nonexistent, discrimination in employment opportunities, forced conversions, denial of access to farmlands and market stalls, I can go on and on the list is endless. I say all these because I have seen it play out in several northern states. Borno for instance; on Christmas days, not a mention is made on the state television that today is Christmas (total blackout). Islamic programmes rule the waves. If you are an Igbo man, I plead that you empathize and know that your presence in Nigeria over the decades since the biafran war has helped in at least giving northern Christians not just a voice but also a foothold. Their professionals are all over the world and I think the London protest is a good start to harnessing their capabilities. The problem however is that the northern Christians are notoriously clannish and unable to face their common enemy. The other tribes on the plateau see it as a berom problem; just give 20 years or less, they will all become sitting ducks. The Enemy will pick them one by one. It may not be wrong to posit that Gowon also had this on mind as he executed the civil war even if you disapprove of his tactics. If you talk to most northern Christians, you will realize they are really grateful for the protection offered by one Nigeria and especially the penetration of their communities by the igbos. The challenge now is what will happen in the future because every Nigerian knows the country is not tenable. Remember, it is the same problem in Takum, Ibbi and some villages all in Taraba. Same in Benue, Nasarawa and Kaduna. Also remember there are sizable numbers of indigenous Christian across all the northern states of this country. What is the way forward? |
