President Barack Obama this Friday paid a historic tribute to the "silent cry" of the 140,000 victims of the atomic bomb dropped 71 years ago on Hiroshima,Japan and called on the world to abandon "the logic of fear" that encourages the stockpiling of nuclear weapons.

Obama's trip to Hiroshima has made him the first U.S. president to visit the site of the world's first atomic bomb attack, as he sought to honor the dead, while avoiding any sense of apology for an act many Americans see as a justified end to a brutal war that Japan started with their brutal attack at Pearl Harbor.

"Death fell from the sky and the world was changed," Obama said, after he layed a wreath, closing his eyes and briefly bowing his head before an arched stone monument in Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park that honors those killed on Aug. 6, 1945. "The flash of light and a wall of fire destroyed a city and demonstrated that mankind possessed the means to destroy itself."

"We stand here in the middle of this city and force ourselves to imagine the moment the bomb fell," Obama said. "We force ourselves to feel the dread of children confused by what they see. We listen to a silent cry." "We may not realize this goal in my lifetime but persistent effort can roll back the possibility of catastrophe," he said. "We can chart a course that leads to the destruction of these stockpiles."

The visit reminds both nations of the horror that occurred in 1945 when a second atomic bomb, dropped on Nagasaki three days after Hiroshima, killed 70,000 Japanese. The nation of Japan surrendered on Aug. 15, 1945, which ended a war that killed millions.

Obama's visit hoped Hiroshima would someday be remembered not as the dawn of the atomic age but as the beginning of a "moral awakening." He renewed his call for a world less threatened by danger of nuclear war. He has received a Nobel Peace Prize in the early years of his presidency for his anti-nuclear agenda.

With Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe standing by his side and an iconic bombed-out domed building looming behind him, While Abe, in his speech, called Obama's visit courageous and long-awaited. He said it would help the suffering of survivors and he echoed the anti-nuclear sentiments. They earlier went to the lobby of the peace museum to sign the guest book: "We have known the agony of war. Let us now find the courage, together, to spread peace, and pursue a world without nuclear weapons," Obama wrote, according to the White House.

"At any place in world, this tragedy must not be repeated again," Abe said. After his remarks, he met with two survivors. Although he was out of ear shot of reporters, Obama could be seen laughing and smiling with 91-year-old Sunao Tsuboi. He was to embrace Shigeaki Mori, 79, another survivor in a hug.

Tsuboi later told reporters he was struck by how Obama held his hand and listened carefully. He told the U.S. president he will be remembered as the one who "listened to the voice of survivors like us."

"You should come visit Hiroshima from time to time and meet lots of people. That is what is important," Tsuboi said.

Obama touched down in Hiroshima after completing talks with world leaders at an international summit in Shima, Japan. He was accompanied by Caroline Kennedy, the U.S. ambassador to Japan.

Hiroshima's peace park is a poignant place with the skeletal remains of the exhibition hall have become an international symbol of peace and a place for prayer.

A Fifth person has succumbed to the deadly virus scourge in Guinea. The virus many had believed had been eradicated finally reared its head again in the country of Guinea. So far it claiming Four lives and recently a Fifth person. The recent death is already giving concern to neighbouring countries as preparations are on top gear to prevent it from spreading.

The recent case occurred in Macenta prefecture, about 200 kilometres from the village of Korokpara where the four other recent Ebola-related deaths occurred, Fode Sylla Tass, spokesman for National Coordination of the Fight against Ebola in Guinea said.

Since March 2014, West Africa has experienced the largest outbreak of Ebola in history, with multiple countries affected. On March 17, 2016, Sierra Leone marked the end of its recent flare-up of Ebola, after 42 days had passed since the last person confirmed to have Ebola tested negative for a second time.
With this recent deaths from ebola, The West Africa countries will be placed on high alert. Countries like Liberia closed its border with Guinea on Tuesday as a precaution against the latest outbreak.

The man, who died from the virus is yet to identified, was reported to have visited Korokpara recently and had been in direct contact with the first patients, Tass said. He was buried in the village of Makoidou without any sanitary precautions.

Burials for bodies of the deceased are often washed, have been a main cause of transmission of Ebola, which has killed at least 11,300 people in West Africa since 2013 in the worst outbreak on record.

Guinea remains one of the worst hit countries, and was declared Ebola free in December, however World Health Organisation had warned about possible reoccurence.

Guinea’s Ebola coordination unit has traced an estimated 816 people who may have come into contact with the first four recent victims.

Today was a sad day for the Russian nation as 62 people, aboard a passenger jet flying from Dubai to southern Russia were killed when their plane crashed on its second attempt to land at Rostov-on-Don airport on Saturday according to Russian officials. Majority of the victims were Russians.

“The aircraft hit the ground and broke into pieces,” the Investigative Committee of Russia said in a statement on its website. “There were 55 passengers aboard and seven crew members. They all died.” Both of the plane’s flight recorders have been recovered undamaged.

Russia’s emergencies ministry said the aircraft, a Boeing (BA.N) 737-800 operated by Dubai-based budget carrier Flydubai, crashed at 0340 (0040 GMT). Majority of those on board were Russian.

“Different versions of what happened are being looked into, including crew error, a technical failure and bad weather conditions,” the committee said.

It was said that the plane was in a mid-air holding pattern for more than two hours. The crash occurred more than two hours after the plane, flight number FZ981, was scheduled to land.

Russia’s Interfax news agency cited a source in the emergency services as saying the pilot changed his mind about landing on the approach to the airport. “For an unknown reason, several minutes before the landing, the pilot reconsidered and decided to make another circuit, but wasn’t able to,” Interfax quoted the source as saying.

Meanwhile the Flydubai’s CEO Ghaith al-Ghaith had told a news conference in the Gulf Arab emirate that it was “too early” to determine the cause of the crash.

“We will have information about the circumstances of the incident and the black box in the future, and an investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the Russian authorities and we are waiting to see the results,” Ghaith said.

For the ordinary Rivers people, its simply an election between the two big parties: the ruling party PDP and the APC. But for some its simply a battle between the Former Governor of the state Rotimi Amaechi and the incumbent governor Nyesom Wike. The battle line has already been drawn. And yet again, the two political gladiators in Rivers state will be locked in a battle of supremacy in the election re-run which is slated for Saturday March 19, 2016.

Losing the party to the PDP may not have been easy for Amaechi but the victory of the Governor at the Supreme court may have also given the Minister of Transportation a cause to fight back or lose his strong ground in the state he once governed few months back. His presence is already causing discomfort for the ruling party.

While the people look towards a peaceful election, the final winners will be decided by the ordinary people of the state and not by the Gladiators regardless of whatever political schemes they come up with. Every nation has suffered the problem of kidnapping especially of teenagers or babies. So it is not surprising for Nigeria being one of the most populated nation in Africa and among the Top ten largest countries in the world to have her own fair share of this ugly anomaly called kidnapping

The abduction of young boys and girls especially the girl child has always been a regular problem but the last few years has seen the rise in the abduction of girls, Most prominent of these kidnappings were the case of over 250 Chibok girls who were kidnapped on the night of 14–15 April 2014, from the Government Secondary School in the town of Chibok in Borno State, Nigeria. An act attributed to the dreaded Boko haram sect. Till this very day all the girls are yet to be found with the exception of few who were rescued.

The most recent one which made headline news is the case of 14-year-old Ese Rita Oruru, a resident of Bayelsa, who was abducted by Yunusa Dahiru but later rescued by the Police in Kano, She was lated found to be five months pregnant. Though the blame game continues regarding the failure of the police and other individuals in acting pro-actively.

In the news again is that of Lucy Ejeh who was allegedly kidnap in Zamfara state in October 2009 and converted from Christianity to Islam. While yet another girl, Patience Paul, who was allegedly abducted in Sokoto state is about to be reunited with her parents.


This are recent cases of abduction follows a string of reports about underage girls being kidnapped and forcefully converted from Christianity to Islam by their abductors.
