Hillary Clinton may just be entering the history books of the United states as she is set to become the first ever woman to lead a major party White House bid, The former Secretary of state has faced tremendous challenges since the onset of her campaign but has managed to pull through the last major contest of the primary campaign on Tuesday having already been declared the Democratic presidential nominee, making her the first woman in history to lead a major party bid for the Presidency of the United state Clinton was able to win the support of the 2,383 delegates needed to clinch the nomination came from the Associated Press late on Monday, before voting was due to commence in primaries in California and five other states. The legitimacy of AP’s declaration, which was announced 24 hours earlier than her campaign expected, has been called into question by Clinton’s rival, Bernie Sanders. The campaign team of the Vermont senator issued a defiant statement that condemned the media’s “rush to judgment” and signalled that the Vermont senator was willing, if possible, to contest the nomination at the Democratic National Convention in July. Despite their reservation, the numbers when seen mathematically seems to be in the favour of the former secretary of state as voters heads to the polls in California, New Jersey, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and New Mexico. Also on Tuesday House Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi endorsed Hillary Clinton for president this morning on “Good Morning America” before her home state’s primary today. According to her “I’m a voter in California and I have voted for Hillary Clinton for president of the United States and proud to endorse her for that position,” though adding “it’s not over until it’s over.” And while it’s “exciting” to see the first female nominee for a major party, Pelosi said, Clinton’s historic achievement is “because she is the best, not because she’s a woman.” the Democratic superdelegate said. Meanwhile President Obama who in 2008 defeated Hillary Clinton for the white house has refused to endorse either Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton. Many see his choice to remain on the fence as an attempt to avoid giving Hillary an undue advantage over Sanders. If she has to win, she has to do so on her own merit not on the backing of the Presidency, which eventually will back her nomination when the time is right. Josh Earnest, the White House press secretary, said: “There is at least one superdelegate – the one who works in the Oval Office – who is not prepared to make a public declaration about his endorsement at this point, but stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated.” The US president endorsing Hillary is just a matter of time. Many of her supporters view her candidacy as strong enough to take on Donald Trump. With her unparalleled qualifications for the job having spend a lifetime in public service in which she has served as first lady, New York senator and then as secretary of state. No one could be more qualified than her to lead her party into the general elections coming up by November this year. Would it be out of place to describe Hillary Clinton as a woman of many first. With his new sign on as coach of Manchester United on 27 May 2016. Jose Mourinho who until then was the former coach of Chelsea, is now expected to revive the club which has not been in her winning ways since the retirement of the former coach Alex Ferguson. The job of restoring the status of England’s most prestigious club back to its winning days will certainly be a huge task for the Portuguese coach who has won several awards including the highest honour in European club football, the UEFA Champions League. His success as Manager while managing Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Chelsea has been incredible especially his stint as Chelsea coach where he succeeded in winning the Premier League title in his first year as coach, the club’s first league title in 50 years, and the League Cup in his first season in the 2004/2005 season. With Manchester United, it certainly is going to be a litmus test to prove to the football world that he is indeed the best coach of his generation despite the poor performance of his former club in the 2015/2016 season when they lost nine out of sixteen league games. The club had engaged two coaches after Alex Furguson within Three years; David Moyes and Louis van Gaal. But the club had not seen the best under them leading few to wonder if the vacuum left by Sir Alex Furguson would ever be filled. - See more at: http://www.naijasilvergold.com/#sthash.BWvRtmli.dpuf

President Barack Obama this Friday paid a historic tribute to the "silent cry" of the 140,000 victims of the atomic bomb dropped 71 years ago on Hiroshima,Japan and called on the world to abandon "the logic of fear" that encourages the stockpiling of nuclear weapons. Obama's trip to Hiroshima has made him the first U.S. president to visit the site of the world's first atomic bomb attack, as he sought to honor the dead, while avoiding any sense of apology for an act many Americans see as a justified end to a brutal war that Japan started with their brutal attack at Pearl Harbor. "Death fell from the sky and the world was changed," Obama said, after he layed a wreath, closing his eyes and briefly bowing his head before an arched stone monument in Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park that honors those killed on Aug. 6, 1945. "The flash of light and a wall of fire destroyed a city and demonstrated that mankind possessed the means to destroy itself." "We stand here in the middle of this city and force ourselves to imagine the moment the bomb fell," Obama said. "We force ourselves to feel the dread of children confused by what they see. We listen to a silent cry." "We may not realize this goal in my lifetime but persistent effort can roll back the possibility of catastrophe," he said. "We can chart a course that leads to the destruction of these stockpiles." The visit reminds both nations of the horror that occurred in 1945 when a second atomic bomb, dropped on Nagasaki three days after Hiroshima, killed 70,000 Japanese. The nation of Japan surrendered on Aug. 15, 1945, which ended a war that killed millions. Obama's visit hoped Hiroshima would someday be remembered not as the dawn of the atomic age but as the beginning of a "moral awakening." He renewed his call for a world less threatened by danger of nuclear war. He has received a Nobel Peace Prize in the early years of his presidency for his anti-nuclear agenda. "Among those nations like my own that hold nuclear stockpiles, we must have the courage to escape the logic of fear and pursue a world without them," Obama said. Obama's visit is seen by many Critics especially the United states and the Japanese as an apology for the bombing that was needed to stop a Japanese war machine that had brutalized Asia and killed many Americans. On the other side, many have praised Obama's decision as they see it as a long overdue gesture for the two nations bury the past and move on for the sake of future generations. Obama also reminded the people of the past saying it "grew out of the same base instinct for domination or conquest that had caused conflicts among the simplest tribes" — but did not assign blame. With Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe standing by his side and an iconic bombed-out domed building looming behind him, While Abe, in his speech, called Obama's visit courageous and long-awaited. He said it would help the suffering of survivors and he echoed the anti-nuclear sentiments. They earlier went to the lobby of the peace museum to sign the guest book: "We have known the agony of war. Let us now find the courage, together, to spread peace, and pursue a world without nuclear weapons," Obama wrote, according to the White House. "At any place in world, this tragedy must not be repeated again," Abe said. After his remarks, he met with two survivors. Although he was out of ear shot of reporters, Obama could be seen laughing and smiling with 91-year-old Sunao Tsuboi. He was to embrace Shigeaki Mori, 79, another survivor in a hug. Tsuboi later told reporters he was struck by how Obama held his hand and listened carefully. He told the U.S. president he will be remembered as the one who "listened to the voice of survivors like us." "You should come visit Hiroshima from time to time and meet lots of people. That is what is important," Tsuboi said. Obama touched down in Hiroshima after completing talks with world leaders at an international summit in Shima, Japan. He was accompanied by Caroline Kennedy, the U.S. ambassador to Japan. Hiroshima's peace park is a poignant place with the skeletal remains of the exhibition hall have become an international symbol of peace and a place for prayer. http://www.naijasilvergold.com/blog/2016/05/27/president-barack…tims-of-the-bomb/

No doubt the Hollywood film industry is perhaps the most largest and well organized all over the world but of recent the industry has been plagued with issues bordering on gender discrimination and diversity. The Federal officials are now investigating a perceived gender bias in Hollywood, according to the ACLU of Southern California and the ACLU Women's Rights Project. In a press release that was issued Wednesday, representatives from the organizations thanked the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs for launching a probe into their claims. This comes one year after they asked federal and state governments to investigate what they called "blatant and rampant discrimination against women directors in the film and television industries." This may not come as a surprise as many Actress have spoken out about this bias in the industry. Thanks also to the recent Oscars criticism, the academy will aim to double Women and diverse Members. Geena Davis' Advice for Hollywood Influencers to Get More Women in Movies is still ever green. The ACLU of Southern California and the ACLU Women's Rights Project last May released a public letter to the feds, in which they appealed to them to launch an investigation into hiring practices by major studios in Hollywood. Citing information from 50 female directors, the groups stated that they uncovered discriminatory recruiting and screening practices, stereotypical evaluation of women, and a lack of enforcement of industry agreements to increase the number of women and people of color in various roles. Diversity has become a very hot issue in Hollywood this year especially after the controversial boycott of this year's oscars by Will smith and wife along with popular movie director Spike Lee. In January, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that its membership policy was being overhauled in an attempt to double the number of women and minorities by 2020. Its certainly going to be an interesting times for the women in Hollywood and the minorities which may see to better harmonization of fees paid to them like their male counterparts. http://dambela.com/2016/05/11/federal-officials-to-investigate-whether-gender-discrimination-still-exists-in-hollywood/

The longtime rapper in an interview he granted recently reveals he’ll be retiring from music. “I’m going to put out my last album and devote 100 percent of my time to doing films…I want to stop at a great place,” the 46-year-old tells the magazine. “And a final album is a great place to stop. I want to take a victory lap, to do a world tour and really enjoy it once last time.” So before he takes a bow from the music world, his fans will have one more chance to enjoy his music. His final album will be No Way Out 2, which he announced in November. The album is a follow-up to his 1997 album, No Way Out. Once he exits the music scence he is sure to strengthen his film career, already he has few movies to his name. Some of the movies he has featured in include Training Day, Get Him to the Greek, Muppets Most Wanted, Carlito’s Way: Rise to Power , Monster’s Ball and Rush Hour 4. Diddy will be very excited about his latest album and so would his numerous fans who can’t wait for the release of what should be regarded as his last album. Another reason being that he hasn’t consistently released music over the past few years, but hopes this latest (and last) album will add him to the list of musical legends. “When I’m gone, only the songs will survive. I know I’m making music that will live on. I don’t go into the studio just to be hot or to hear myself on the radio,” Diddy explained. “Michael Jackson, Tupac, Biggie—part of them lives on in their music, even though they’re not here anymore. That’s really deep, man. The only thing like that is religion. Source: http://dambela.com/2016/05/03/sean-diddy-combs-announces-retirement-from-music-to-focus-on-acting/

Today was a sad day for the Russian nation as 62 people, aboard a passenger jet flying from Dubai to southern Russia were killed when their plane crashed on its second attempt to land at Rostov-on-Don airport on Saturday according to Russian officials. Majority of the victims were Russians. “The aircraft hit the ground and broke into pieces,” the Investigative Committee of Russia said in a statement on its website. “There were 55 passengers aboard and seven crew members. They all died.” Both of the plane’s flight recorders have been recovered undamaged. Russia’s emergencies ministry said the aircraft, a Boeing (BA.N) 737-800 operated by Dubai-based budget carrier Flydubai, crashed at 0340 (0040 GMT). Majority of those on board were Russian. “Different versions of what happened are being looked into, including crew error, a technical failure and bad weather conditions,” the committee said. It was said that the plane was in a mid-air holding pattern for more than two hours. The crash occurred more than two hours after the plane, flight number FZ981, was scheduled to land. Russia’s Interfax news agency cited a source in the emergency services as saying the pilot changed his mind about landing on the approach to the airport. “For an unknown reason, several minutes before the landing, the pilot reconsidered and decided to make another circuit, but wasn’t able to,” Interfax quoted the source as saying. Meanwhile the Flydubai’s CEO Ghaith al-Ghaith had told a news conference in the Gulf Arab emirate that it was “too early” to determine the cause of the crash. “We will have information about the circumstances of the incident and the black box in the future, and an investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the Russian authorities and we are waiting to see the results,” Ghaith said. - See more at: http://www.naijasilvergold.com/blog/2016/03/19/plane-crashes-in-russia-kills-62-people-on-board/#sthash.TaKMWsSr.dpuf

Tomorrow the people of Rivers State will hold the re-run election. Already the state is already under intense political tension as there has been cases of violence and killings. Latest of which was the murder of some military personnel deployed to the state to sustain the peace. For the ordinary Rivers people, its simply an election between the two big parties: the ruling party PDP and the APC. But for some its simply a battle between the Former Governor of the state Rotimi Amaechi and the incumbent governor Nyesom Wike. The battle line has already been drawn. And yet again, the two political gladiators in Rivers state will be locked in a battle of supremacy in the election re-run which is slated for Saturday March 19, 2016. Losing the party to the PDP may not have been easy for Amaechi but the victory of the Governor at the Supreme court may have also given the Minister of Transportation a cause to fight back or lose his strong ground in the state he once governed few months back. His presence is already causing discomfort for the ruling party. While the people look towards a peaceful election, the final winners will be decided by the ordinary people of the state and not by the Gladiators regardless of whatever political schemes they come up with. Its not also an election that decides who truly is the Lion of Niger Delta as attributed to Amaechi and Wike by their supporters, but its a matter of the people chosing their leaders by themselves and for themselves. - See more at: http://www.naijasilvergold.com/blog/2016/03/18/rivers-re-run-election-battle-of-the-titans/#sthash.GYWQ7H2H.dpuf

Once upon a time in Nigeria reigned Three brothers who held the country spell bound by their managerial skills and amazing musical talent. One was a fantastic manager bringing them together, the other two amazing singers and dancers. If this narration fits the Trio of Jude Okoye, Peter and Paul okoye alias Psquare, Well then You are absolutely right Since the story of their conflict and eventual split from their Manager and the group became open, The Blogsphere has been held captive with the whole drama surrounding one of Nigeria’s most beloved musical group: Psquare We have heard various versions of how their crises began: some attributing to the various women in their lives, in which case implying their wives, most commonly mentioned is Lola Omotayo Okoye who is married to Peter Okoye who is alleged to be responsible for their breakup, others to their Elder brothers manner of running the affairs of the group and many more stories. Well its no longer news that they have broken from their Manager and also alleged to have broken from the group. For a group that has performed with international artists like Ginuwine and Sean Paul, Akon. Once named the Artist of the Year in 2010. Sold over 8 million copies worldwide and with a huge fan base especially in africa, it really is a sad one for them to just walk away from all this achievement because of a misunderstanding regardless of how bad it is. Their albums which includes Last night, get squared, game over, Danger, The Invasion and Double trouble will however continue to remain a classic for upcoming musical artiste especially group collaboration. The questions on the lips of everyone is: can the two brothers make it without their elder brother, can they make it individually as solo artist or will they ever be a comeback. Time will tell, What we fans can only hope for them is that the brothers unite for the sake of their late Mum whom they cherished and for their numerous fans who have kept faith with them over the years. Would that be too much to ask. Source: http://dambela.com/2016/03/17/there-were-once-three-musical-brothers/

For a man like Bernie Sanders not known for using strong words, it was not unexpected when he accused Trump of lying when he blamed Sanders for the recent protests at his campaign events. Sanders stood to the defence of his supporters from Donald Trump;s accusation. “I think anybody who understands Mr. Trump’s campaign knows that he tells the truth very, very rarely,” Sanders said on ABC’s “This WeekWeek with George Stephanopoulos.” “I’m afraid that on this occasion, he’s lying again.” GOP leading candidate, Donald Trump had to cancel his rally in Chicago on Friday over safety concerns as violent confrontations broke out between his supporters and protesters, some of the protesters were seen holding Sanders campaign signs. Sanders regarded Trump’s accusations as someone “getting very nervous.” “He is catching onto the fact that the American people do not support a candidate like Trump whose verbiage, whose language, whose rhetoric incites violence,” Sanders said when interviewed. On the democratic side, Sanders will be focusing on his race against Hillary Clinton, as he looks forward to contests coming up in Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Illinois and Missouri. - See more at: http://www.naijasilvergold.com/blog/2016/03/13/hes-lying-again-bernie-sanders-tells-donald-trump/#sthash.uL7Wr217.dpuf |

Five-time tennis Grand Slam champion and the world’s highest-paid female athlete, Maria Sharapova has just announced that she had tested positive for the recently banned drug meldonium at the Australian Open this January. The Russia born World Tennis champion made the shocking announcement at a media conference in Los Angeles; Many had assumed she would announce her retirement from the tennis game due to her lingering injuries, but they received the surprise of their life as she revealed she had been under a performance enhancer since 2006. She admitted having taken meldonium, a drug which had only been added to the prohibited list last September and came into effect on 1 January, 2016. She is most likely to face up to four years on the sidelines, even though 12-24 months is most probably the least punishment if her actions are deemed unintentional by the tennis governing body. Subsequently, two of her sponsors; Nike and Porsche have suspended ties with Maria, following her violation of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) use of meldonium as a performance enhancer. For some of her fans and admirers, Could she had been so naïve not to have known that the drug was now banned, and was it simply an oversight on her part. This are questions she alone can answer, while the final judgement lies with the body responsible for punishing offenders of such sport crime. Every nation has suffered the problem of kidnapping especially of teenagers or babies. So it is not surprising for Nigeria being one of the most populated nation in Africa and among the Top ten largest countries in the world to have her own fair share of this ugly anomaly called kidnapping The abduction of young boys and girls especially the girl child has always been a regular problem but the last few years has seen the rise in the abduction of girls, Most prominent of these kidnappings were the case of over 250 Chibok girls who were kidnapped on the night of 14–15 April 2014, from the Government Secondary School in the town of Chibok in Borno State, Nigeria. An act attributed to the dreaded Boko haram sect. Till this very day all the girls are yet to be found with the exception of few who were rescued.
