They are the Lead co-stars of movie ’76’. Nouah and Dominic were really spectacular as they stepped out in style for the premiere of the latest movie in London, during the BFI Film Festival, at the Cineworld Haymarket cinema.

Ramsey Nouah who used to be regarded as the lover boy of the movie industry has won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2010; He made his first movie debut in Silent Night and went on to act in several nollywood movies, most notables movies of his include: Dangerous Twins, The Figurine, The Figurine, Tempting Fate and 30 Days in Atlanta.

While Rita Dominic who debuted in Children of Terror went on to feature in several movies, Most notable ones were White Waters, Yankee Girls, Suru Lere. In 2012 she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, In 2013 she won two Nollywood Movies award for her roles in The Meeting and Finding Mercy.

The second on the Top 10 list is the Peanuts creator Charles Schultz with $48 million. His estate’s earnings were powered by the release of “The Peanuts Movie” last year. Arnold Palmer a famous golfer came third with $40 million, having passed away last month, he is followed by Elvis Presley ($27 million) and Prince ($25 million).

Others in the top 10 includes Bob Marley ($21 million), Theodor “Dr. Seuss” Geisel ($20 million), John Lennon ($12 million), Albert Einstein ($11 million) and Bettie Page ($11 million). Among the ten of them, Five of them were music singers.

The US presidential debate has come and gone, but what happened is important to know. Suffice to say that happenings in the US indirectly affects the rest of the world. It is only natural we follow what goes on not only in our country.

And so my dear Nairalanders, especially those who watched the debate. Who fared better. Hillary or Trump and was Trump really tricked by Clinton in her first attack on him

Yesterday the two major presidential candidates in the US elections held their first presidential debate debate at Hofstra University in Long Island, New York. It was a highly spirited debate as both candidates came at each other skin.

Hillary Clinton used the first presidential debate to launch a full frontal attack on Donald Trump, baiting him into fights over his personal finances, taxes, sexism, race relations, business dealings and personal honesty. Typical of Donald Trump who had tried to remain calm at the beginning of the debate fell for her bait coming out of his calm disposition to show what he was best known for since he entered the presidential race. Her aggressive tone certainly did draw Trump in. And when she felt she had gotten him into his normal mode she remained during the rest of the debate either smiling at Trump’s remarks on her or responding calmly when it was turn to speak.

So if Clinton was looking for looking for a political fight, she found it as her opponent tried to pull her apart. For most part of the debate Donald trump denied part of the accusations the former secretary of state threw at him during the intense series of exchanges between both candidates.

Perhaps Trump finest moments came when he directed a counter attack at his rival

“You’ve been doing this for 30 years; why are you just thinking about these solutions now?” Trump said while suggesting about ways to create jobs.

“I have thought about this quite a bit,” Clinton countered his remark.

“Yeah, for 30 years,” Trump responded.

On his tax returns which became an issue during the debate. Clinton suggested that Trump’s success was inherited, and that he was hiding his tax returns to avoid embarrassment.

For most of his turn, Trump took Clinton up on her viewpoint on jobs, trade, and national security, while using her as a substitute for politicians in general putting his rival in a relaxed mode.

“I have a feeling that by the end of this evening I’m going to be blamed for everything that ever happened,” Clinton said at one point.

“Why not?” Trump had replied

“Just join the debate by saying more crazy things.” Clinton responded

For Clinton, her finest moment came when she was accused of not paying a visit to some devasted cites while he was paying visit to such places. She sure was ready to respond and she did in the manner she knew best.

“Donald just criticized me for preparing for this debate. And, yes, I did,” she said. “And you know what else I prepared for? I prepared to be president. And I think that’s a good thing.”

On her expereince the billionaire turned politician appreciated his rival’s years of experience towards the debate but ended saying “but it’s bad experience,”.

“This country can’t afford to have another four years of that kind of experience,” Trump said.

Regardless of Donald Trump’s interruption of the moderator, he really did give a good performance as his rival despite the fact that some of the claims and denials made by him were subject to fact finding. They both ended up showing their audience and viewers that they could get under each other’s skin at the end of their first debate.

One thing was certain the NBC anchor did a nice job without showing any political affiliation as opposed to what some had said earlier about him being a partisan democrat.

Also, the New York Post was reported to have ran a story claiming that Brad and his pregnant co-star Marion Cotillard in Allied were having an affair while they were filming last spring and that Angelina had discovered this following the report from a hired private investigator.

In a bid to quench the rumour, the French actress,on Sept. 21, released a statement denying her affair with Brad Pitt, while confirming that her partner not Brad, as reported by some tabloids is the father of her unborn child. No one is certain if this alleged affair was responsible for Jolie and Pitt breakup.

The youths who have been strong supporters of Donald Trump besides when Bernie Sanders was still in the race, are beginning to shift their base to the democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. She is now consolidating the support of the Millennials who had fueled Bernie Sanders’ challenge during the primaries, a new USA TODAY/Rock the Vote Poll finds. Donald Trump may probably been heading toward the worst showing among younger voters in modern American history, Analyst say.
From the survey released last weekend It shows Clinton trouncing Trump 56%-20% among those under 35, though she has failed so far to generate the levels of enthusiasm Sanders did — and the high turn-out that can signal — among Millennials.

In the new survey, half of those under 35 say they identify with or lean toward the Democrats; just 20% identify with or lean toward the Republicans. Seventeen percent are independents, and another 12% either identify with another party or don’t know.

Perhaps Trump’s weakness among younger voters may have resulted from his post-convention, which has been filled with controversies upon controversies,. It is unprecedented, lower even than the 32% of the vote that the Gallup Organisation calculates Richard Nixon received among 18-to-29-year-old voters in 1972, an era of youthful protests against the Vietnam War.
According to Elizabeth Krueger, 31, an actress in New York City who was among those surveyed. “I get worried about the bigoted element of our country, and that they will stick with Trump regardless of his stupidity,” She now supports Clinton. “She is not going to be a perfect president, but who would be?”

Its no longer news that Donald Trump the US Republican Presidential Candidate is facing strong opposition both from within and outside his party especially for some of the wrong things he has said. His penchant for stiring up controversy at any slightest opportunity is unfounded. Perhaps this explains why some people are desperately fighting to see he doesn’t step into the Oval office as the next President of the United State.

She was the second black woman in the history of the Academy Awards to win an acting Oscar. Renowned for her role in the movie Ghost, Sister Act.

3. Samuel L. Jackson
He is an American actor and film producer.He has appeared in over 100 movies till date. He achieved prominence and criticalacclaim in the early 1990s with films such as Jungle Fever (1991), Patriot Games (1992), Amos & Andrew (1993), True Romance(1993), Jurassic Park (1993), Pulp Fiction (1994) and the Star Wars prequel trilogy (1999–2005).

The Actress and producer announced that if Donald Trump is elected president that she plans to move to Canada.

10. George Lopez
He is an American comedian, actor, and talk show host. He is known for starring in his self-produced ABC sitcom

Lopez is certainly no fan of Trump. The comedian recently tweeted an image of notorious drug lord El Chapo clutching Trump’s
severed head atop a mountain of skulls. Shortly after Trump announced he would run for president in June, Lopez told TMZ there are “enough racists in this country for him to get elected, and added: “If he wins, he won’t have to worry about immigration. We’ll all go back.”

The Democratic candidate has finally released her tax returns, as this has been made public, in some form, every year since 1977.
From records released, the U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton paid an effective federal tax rate of 34.2 percent last year and a combined federal, state and local effective tax rate of 43.2 percent, her campaign said on Friday.
Clinton’s running mate, U.S. Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia, along with his wife, Anne Holton, also paid a federal effective tax rate of 20.3 percent in 2015, the campaign said.
Hillary Clinton and her running mate, Tim Kaine, released a new batch of their own income tax returns on Friday, thereby putting pressure on her opponent, Donald J. Trump, who is yet to release his.
Mrs. Clinton has now made available during the campaign her and her husband’s income taxes which dates back to 2007, showing a total adjusted gross income during that period of $150 million. The Clintons over the years have made public details of their income taxes as far back as 1977, the campaign said.

“Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine continue to set the standard for financial transparency,” Clinton campaign aide Jennifer Palmieri said in a statement.
“In stark contrast, Donald Trump is hiding behind fake excuses and backtracking on his previous promises to release his tax returns.”
For U.S. presidential candidates, It is customary to make their tax returns public, although they are not required by law to do so.
Meanwhile her rival, Trump, who until last year was a New York businessman, and his lawyers have cited an audit by the Internal Revenue Service as a reason he has refused to release his returns. Trump also had once said his taxes were no one’s business and that they revealed little. The IRS have however said Trump can release his tax returns even while under audit.

This has been attributed to the appreciation of the rand, South Africa’s currency, and the devaluation of the Nigerian naira following the introduction of a flexible foreign exchange regime.
Bloomberg reported that the size of South Africa’s economy was $301 billion at the rand’s current exchange rate, while Nigeria’s GDP was put at $296 billion using the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at the end of 2015 published by the International Monetary Fund.
It also noted that the rand has gained more than 16 per cent against the US currency since the start of 2016, while in contrast, Nigeria’s naira has lost more than a third of its value.
In afternoon trade wednesday, the rand firmed by more than a per cent against the dollar, to R13.29. Despite this, both countries still face the risk of recession, having contracted in the first quarter of the year, according to Bloomberg.
Nigeria’s economy went down by 0.4 per cent, while South Africa’s GDP contracted by 0.2 per cent. Nigeria fall has been due to the low oil prices, while South Africa is sensitive to shifts in the commodity cycle.
Mr. Sewa Wusu, the Head of Research, SCM Capital Limited, told THISDAY that the challenge of naira devaluation has caused a lot of economic challenges to the country, particularly with respect to the GDP.
“This should give policy makers the drive to rectify the forex challenges. Of course they have done their best by introducing a flexible exchange rate, but the issue is beyond that. The issue currently is about our forex earning potential.
“But I think the government is up to the challenge. I think we need a quick fix on the economy. That would help to support the naira and strengthen the currency,” Wusu added

This is certainly the best of times for Barack Obama who celebrates his 55th birthday today as a poll reveals that Barack Obama’s approval rating rose to 54 percent after the last week’s Democratic National Convention, The poll according to CNN/ORC released Thursday, marked the president’s highest public approval in the same survey in three and a half years.
Since February, the public’s approval of Obama on the job has been hovering around 50 percent in the same survey. In the latest survey, conducted by landlines and cellphones from last Friday through Sunday, 45 percent indicated they did not approve of his performance. Approval for Obama is high among women (59 percent to 40 percent), non-whites (77 percent to 22 percent), college graduates (62 percent to 37 percent), people younger than 45 years old (68 percent to 31 percent) and Democrats (89 percent to 10 percent). while the men are split on Obama (48 percent to 51 percent), while whites are largely in disapproval (43 percent to 56 percent), as are those older than 45 (42 percent to 57 percent).

Its normal for polls to be carried out on a sitting US President’s approval especially as he prepares to handover. From past polls such as this, Former President Bill Clinton had a similarly high 57 percent approval rating at a similar point in 2000, while Ronald Reagan’s ratings were roughly the same as Obama’s at the same time in 1988.
It certainly is not good news for the Republican President Donald Trump who had said in an interview that Barack Obama would go down in history as the worst president in response to the President’s criticism of his rhetoric as a Presidential candidate. It was a tremendous night for the Democrats at the third day of their National convention. The night was made lively with the speeches of Top ranking political figures, VP nominee Tom Kaine, Kristen Kavanaugh, Rear John Hudson (rtd) , Leon Panetta, Micheal Bloomberg (Former New Yrk Mayor), Joe Biden and of course the most anticipated speech ever: President Obama.

The key speeches by top political figures both past and present at the DNC was a clear departure from the RNC whose past leaders like George Bush, other rivals refused attending their convention. More worrisome was the non appearance of the Host John Kasich a former rival of Trump.
It is now left if all the wonderful speeches made by the democrats in support of Hillary’s candidacy will translate to votes on the day of the election. Time will tell who becomes a beneficiary of the peoples votes come November 2016.
Statistics reveal that the DNC viewers and participation has been quite higher than that of the Republicans.

Today a “fired up” President Barack Obama had his first campaign with his former Secretary of state who hopes to succede him as he took the stage in North Carolina today to add his support for his onetime political rival Hillary Clinton, He was greeted by the crowd with thunderous applause. Obama appeared onstage with Clinton in Charlotte after he had lend her a ride from Washington on the Air Force One thereby confering his popularity on his candidate who seems to be struggling to win voters’ trust.
Several times, Obama rallied the crowd using his signature campaign chant from 2008: “Fired up, ready to go!”
The recent news from the FBI that they weren’t going to recommend charges against her for using a private email server for government correspondence when she was secretary of state, gave her a boost. The FBI Boss had made reference to the action of Democrats candidate as careless but not criminal.
According to Hillary, She said she has known Obama in many roles and called him “a friend.” “I was honored to stand with him in the good times and the hard times,” she told the crowd in Charlotte. “Someone who has never forgotten where he came from. And Donald [Trump], if you’re out there tweeting, it’s Hawaii.”
Clinton was the first to speak and then introduced Obama, who spoke for almost twice as long as the presumptive Democratic nominee.
Obama never once mentioned the Republican rival, Donald Trump, by name. But Obama seemed to enjoy his return to the campaign trail as he showed how good he used to be in the past campaign.
“Everybody can tweet. Nobody actually knows what it takes to do the job until you sit behind the desk,” said the president, making a veiled reference to Trump. “Sasha tweets, but she doesn’t think that she thereby should be sitting behind the desk.”
He repeatedly slammed the billionaire for his conduct during th ecampaign. I know the other guy talks about making America great again. America’s really great,” Obama said. “This is a choice between whether we are going to cling to some imaginary past or whether we’re going to reach for the future.”
While making a reference to Trump’s past role as host of the realty TV show, “The Apprentice,” Obama remarked: “This is not a reality show. This is not entertainment.”
Obama called Clinton “steady and true” and said she’s in politics for the same reason he is, to help others. He took a swipe at Republicans who “don’t really know what the guy is talking about,” making yet another reference to Trump.
“You ask them, they’re all like, ‘I don’t know.’ Then they kinda duck the other way. Am I joking? No.” Going a step further, Obama told the crowd in North Carolina, a battleground state, that “this isn’t even a choice because the other side has nothing to offer you.”
When the crowd booed as Obama made reference to the presumptive GOP nominee, the president shot back at the crowd, “Don’t boo, vote.”
During her remarks, Clinton looked back to 2008, when she contested against Obama in the primaries and lost, leading to her playing an active role campaigning for Obama. “When it was over, I was proud to endorse him and campaign for him. And I’ll never forget when he called me the Sunday after the election and invited me to come to Chicago and asked me to become secretary of state,” she said.
Obama took the stage asking the crowd if they were “fired up and ready to go.”. “Fired up? I am. I’m fired up. Hillary got me fired up. She got me ready to do some work.” He said.

CITY POLICE APOLOGIZES TO MAN WHO WAS FALSELY ACCUSED OF PLEDGING

On Wednesday, June 29, the Avon Police Department received a 911 call from the sister of Alexis Silva, who worked as a desk clerk at the Fairfield Inn and Suites. In an audio recording of the 911 call, which was posted by ABC affiliate WEWS-TV in Cleveland, the clerk’s sister was heard saying that a man was “pledging his allegiance or something to ISIS.”
Police then received a second call from the father of the clerk, who asked for help with the matter on behalf of his daughter.
Ahmad Al-Menhali, 41, according to The Associated Press, was detained at gunpoint on Wednesday while he was wearing a traditional white kandura, or ankle-length robe, and headscarf after the female clerk was suspicious that he had link to the terror group. Police camera footage showed officers detaining and searching al-Menhali before determining he was not a threat. He collapsed moments after he was released and was briefly hospitalized.
However, the Avon Mayor Bryan Jensen told ABC News that al-Menhali was “never arrested” as a result of the accusation, but that he was handcuffed and “briefly held” in a local police department
“When you hear someone say he pledged allegiance to ISIS, that changes it. Then you find out that statement was never made and it just kind of angers us,” he said. The city’s police department issued a statement of apology to al-Menhali for the incident. It is only hoped this will not scare other abiding Muslims in the country.

He was one of the survivors of the Holocaust, Elie Wiesel, the prolific Nobel Peace Prize laureate whose memoir about surviving Nazi concentration camps became world class around the globe, has died at the age of 87.
Wiesel’s son, Elisha Wiesel, told NBC News on Saturday that his father had died, and said the family is observing Shabbat and has requested privacy at the moment.

He was born in 1928 in Romania, was forced in May 1944 into Auschwitz during the time the Nazi were controlling Germany, there he watched as his sick, malnourished father Shlomo Wiesel,died he was beaten by a German soldier. He wrote his experience,including the deaths of his mother and younger sister during the Holocaust, in his acclaimed 1955 autobiography, “Night.” The atrocities he witnessed fueled Wiesel to combat inhumanity around the world, including in the former Yugoslavia and in Darfur — efforts that in 1986, earned him a Nobel Peace Prize.
“We must speak, we must take sides, for neutrality helps the oppressor — never the victim,” he said upon receiving the prize”.
His death has brought shock to the world as tributes continue to pour in, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called him a “beacon of light to the humanity of people who believed in the good of everyone.”
Also a statement from the World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder said Wiesel “was more than a revered writer. He was also a teacher for many of us. He taught us about the horrors of Auschwitz. He taught us about Judaism, about Israel, and about not being silent in the face of injustice.
Not too long ago, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, had given Wiesel the medal of Honorary Citizen of Jerusalem, in which he said about the recipient: “Instead of giving in to despair, the face of evil and cruelty that at the time was the darkest of humanity, he carried all the way through the message of tolerance and peace for all peoples of the world. May this strong apostle of hope and peace rest in peace.
