Bobbi Kristina Brown was the daughter of pop singers Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. The late singer who died in July 26, 2015 was an American reality television and media personality, singer, and actress. Her parents fame continuously kept her in the eyes of the press. Her mum the late celebrated whitney houston dies in 2012. Bobbi was the beneficiary of her late mum’s entire estate including clothing, jewelry, cars, personal effects, and furniture.

Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in a bathtub in late January 2015. she was later kept in a medically induced coma for several months, unfortuately she couldn’t make it as she died in hospice care on July 26, 2015 at the age of 22.

A year after her death, The official cause of her death has been revealed. Drug intoxication and immersion in a bathtub of water had led to her death months later from pneumonia and brain damage. This was disclosed by a Georgia medical examiner on Friday after a judge allowed him to release the findings. He however could not say whether her death was an accident or not.

This changed today for the infamous king who in 2005 was arrested after the Supreme Court upheld his’s death sentence by hanging. Until his arrest Rev King was the General Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly, Lagos.Known as Chukwuemeka Ezeugo.

A seven-man panel of Justices ‎of the Supreme Court led by Justice Walter Onnoghen, in a unanimous judgment delivered on Friday afternoon, affirmed the death sentence that was earlier handed to Ezeugo by the Lagos State High Court. He was arraigned on September 26, 2006 on a six-count charge of attempted murder and murder. The charge was brought against him at the instance of the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

On January 11, 2007, he was convicted and sentenced to death by hanging for the alleged murder of his church member, Ann Uzoh. The prosecution had argued during the trial that the convict poured petrol on the diseased, Uzor and five others. Uzoh died on August 2, 2006, exactly 11 days after the incident.

It will be the end of one of the most notorious pastors ever seen in the country.

In an effort to foster the new ties between Cuba and the United states, President Barack Obama plans to close the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba may likely suffer a setback following the announcement by the House Speaker Paul Ryan that the Republicans are all out to stop the President from closing Guantanamo Bay at Cuba.
Ryan said Obama’s intended plan flouts a longstanding ban which was passed by Congress that blocks the president from transferring Guantanamo detainees to U.S. soil

The House Speaker Paul Ryan said on Wednesday Republicans are taking legal steps to stop President Barack Obama from closing the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, a day after the president unveiled his plan to shutter the facility and move the detainees to the United States.

He told reporters that lawmakers have the votes to block Obama's plan in Congress and enough votes to override any veto. Separately, the Wisconsin Republican said the GOP is "preparing our legal challenge" to ensure the prison remains open and detainees aren't moved to the U.S.

Earlier this month, House Republicans awarded the Jones Day law firm a $150,000 contract to perform the legal work in case Obama tries to move Guantanamo detainees to federal prisons.

"These detainees cannot come to American soil," Ryan said.

Obama has pushed to fulfil a 2008 campaign promise and close Guantanamo, arguing that the facility is a recruitment tool for terrorism worldwide and opposed by some allies. The president has faced strong opposition in Congress, where Republicans and some Democrats maintain there is no alternative and argue they don't want these detainees transferred to U.S. prisons, even maximum security facilities.

He was asked by a reporter about Donald Trump recent remarks while on the papal airliner as he returned to Rome. He remarked “A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian,” The Pope said, challenging Donald Trump’s pledge to deport undocumented immigrants and build a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico.

As the crowd applauded, Trump doubled down on his pledge to build a wall and curb illegal immigration into the U.S. as he read from a statement suggesting the pope would come to regret his remarks. Commenting that the Pope remarks were ‘disgraceful’ after he questioned his faith.

“If and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which as everyone knows is ISIS’ ultimate trophy, I can promise you that the pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been president because this would not have happened,” Trump said, reading from the statement. “ISIS would have been eradicated unlike what is happening now with our all talk, no action politicians.”

Not all Catholic feast are gotten from Pagan worship or rituals. With the exception of a few like Christmas (Previously worship of the sun god) and valentine day (Lupercalia by the ancient pagans) The others are derived from the lives of individuals who lived good lives while on earth. The exact birth of this extraordinary saint is historically unknown but we known from available records was that he was a Catholic priest during the reign of the Roman Emperor Claudius II during the 3rd century.
The Roman Emperor Claudius II was involved in many bloody and unpopular war campaigns to get more men to join his army. He believed at the time that the reason why he was finding it difficult to get men to join the military was that the Roman men were very dedicated to their wives and family. As a result, Claudius forbid the rites of marriages and engagements in Rome.

St Valentine was a priest in Rome during his reign. He and St Marius ignored the official order and performed secret marriages of some loving couples for this deed. He was arrested and dragged before the Prefect of Rome who condemned him to a Three part execution of beating, stoning and to be beaten to death with his head cut off.

He is reputed to have suffered martyrdom having been beaten to death on the 14th of February about the year AD270 during the papacy of Pope Felix I. February 14th, the day he was martyed became his feast day in accordance with the ancient Catholic tradition of making a Saints death his feast day. Legend had it that on the day before his execution, he left a farewell note for the jailer’s daughter whom had become his friend and signed it “From your valentine”.

At that time in Rome, an ancient custom which dates back to the 3rd century was been celebrated in the month of February. The festival which was called “Lupercalia” in honour of Juno, queen of the Roman gods and goddess, was also known as the goddess of women, love and marriage.

On this occasion, pagan ceremonies were been held in which young men would choose names of maidens to be their partners during the celebration. This was usually sealed with a gift exchange.

The early church which transforms pagan festivals by giving them Christian meaning, decided to do away with the pagan element which was eroding the faith of the early Christians by substituting the names of saints for those pagan gods and goddess.

In 496AD, Pope Gelasius (An African Pope and the last Arican Pope) set aside Feb 14th to honour St Valentine who was beheaded because of his love for the Lord and his people.

Through the centuries the Christian holiday became a time to exchange love messages and St. Valentine became the patron saint of lovers. He is the patron saint of engaged couples and of anyone wishing to marry. Valentine are sent as signs of devotion of true lovers, friendship between friends and gestures towards the poor and one’s loved ones.

In our Modern era, The question facing us is are we really practising the true love as exhibited by St Valentine the man behind the festival we now celebrate or are we just celebrating another form of what some may call NEO-PAGANISM, a return back to the early pagans.

There is no doubt that the effects of global warming and Climate change on our planet have been talked about for long and its effects are already visible even in our country Nigeria. In the last century the average temperature has risen around 1 degree Fahrenheit (0.6 Celsius) – but the greatest single danger, scientists warn, is that global warming will cause a dramatic rise in sea levels, flooding the world’s most powerful cities under a catastrophic level, something that can only be imagined.

The real question facing us all is: Can all the international talks and conferences have a positive impact on climate change? But before we get to that question, let’s look more closely at this three most talked environmental issues facing us globally: Global warming, Climate change and Green House effect and how it affects us all.

Global warming is the gradual heating of Earth’s surface, oceans and atmosphere, while Wikipedia defines it as the rising average temperature of Earth’s atmosphere and oceans and its related effects. In the last 100 years, Earth’s average surface temperature increased by about 0.8 °C (1.4 °F) with about two thirds of the increase occurring over just the last three decades, and scientists are more than 90% certain most of it is caused by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases produced by human activities such as deforestation and burning fossil fuel.

Part of the sunlight from the sun to the earth atmosphere is absorbed, others are reflected back, a small part of the reflected radiation is sent back to the earth. The amount of pollution is causing most of the radiated heat not to escape thereby causing temperature to rise in our planet leading to Global warming.

While Climate change, refers to the rise in average surface temperatures on Earth. An scientists have generally maintained that climate change is caused primarily by the human use of fossil fuels, which releases carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the air. The gases trap heat within the atmosphere, which has a range of effects on ecosystems, including rising sea levels, severe weather events, and droughts that render most landscapes vulnerable to wildfires.

And lastly, Greenhouse gas effect (sometimes abbreviated GHG) is the trapping of the long wave radiation from entering space by the atmosphere. This exchange of long wave radiation between earth and atmosphere produces a warmer effect on earth. The primary greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere include water vapor, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, methane and ozone which forms a layer around the earth.

Effects of climate change (ECOSYSTEM) include:

– Precipitation rising over the earth

– Sea level increasing above its threshold,

– Ice is melting in the north and south poles,

– Occurrences of Drought, Hurricanes and Tornados

– Ozone layer is being destroyed gradually



How can we stop and perhaps reduce it to the barest minimum

– Replace a regular incandescent light build with a compact fluorescent light bulb

– Cover your pot while cooking

– Use energy/electric/fuel-free vehicles

– Use less hot water

– Buy car that will use less fuel or better still electric cars if within your reach.

– Trekking or take a bike instead of driving.

– Plant a flower or tree in your home rather than destroy existing ones

– Use energy efficient appliances

– Use programmable thermometer

– The use of solar power and wind generation capabilities should also be encouraged.

The time we have to cut global emissions, to avoid the worst consequences of climate change is running short. It’s time for world leaders, negotiators and companies to increase their intensity, to develop better strategies in delivering more emission reductions. But above all, we the general public also has a key role to play to reduce global warming with its attendant effects.

We need more Environmental activists, the likes of Pope Francis, Al Gore, Robert Redford, Leonardo Di Caprio, Jennifer Morgan, Nigerian born Nnimmo Bassey and other Environmentalist, who in their unique ways and professions are working relentlessly with governments, business corporations and other Global figures to sustain our environment and also promote a low-carbon future for us.

The ECOWAS parliament has just elected anew speaker alongside 115 new members for the regional parliament.
The Senegalese born Moustapha Cisse-Lo who emerged unopposed, was unanimously elected by the Anglophone and Francophone member states to steer the affairs of the parliament for the next four years.
This was at the inaugural session of the 4th legislature of the ECOWAS parliament.
He takes over the reins of the parliament from Nigeria's outgoing Speaker, Ike Ekweremadu, who has already set a major task for his incumbent. Mr Cisse-Lo is expected to take charge of the parliament, ensuring that the supplementary act is adopted to enhance the powers of the regional parliament.

The Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum has just released a statement that he will be dropping out of the race for the White House. According to his tweet.

“So thankful & grateful for your support. Just not our year. So today please join me in supporting @marcorubio,” he posted on Twitter on Wednesday evening.

His poor performance in the Iowa caucus in which he received only 1 percent of the vote, which resulted in zero delegates — may have led his withdrawal of his candidacy for the Republican ticket.
His support for Rubio who has built up his credentials among the conservatives, having won a third-place finish in Iowa with a 23 percent of the vote, just one percentage point behind Trump will go a long way in solidfying Rubio's bid.

Ted Cruz of the Republican party (GOP) has just won their Iowa caucus election defeating Donald Trump who had been the Frontliner for their party by 3%, Ted Cruz won by 28% while Donald Trump won by 24%. It was a close one for the candidates who contested.

On the other hand, The Democrats also had theirs in which Hillary Clinton ties with her close rival Sanders by 50.1% to 49.4 %.
One question is does the Press really have a role on who wins US elections considering the poll results which had always shown Donald Trump leading in most cases.
