Enrollees' beneficiary rights

• During registration, individuals have the right to choose any primary health care provider(PHCP) of his/her choice
• A registered enrollee would be empowered with NHIS identity card/patient card for easy access to his/her PHCP
• A subscribed enrollee has the right to present card at the chosen HCP when they fall sick
• A subsribed enrollee has the right to qualitative health care providers without making any payment except 10% co-payment at the point of collection of drugs
• A subscribed enrollee is entitled to referral services from their PHCP and also from a secondary HCP to a Tertiary HCP as contained in th NHIS benefit package
• A subscribed enrollee has the right to change provider to another PHCP of his/her choice after six(6) months
• A subscribed enrollee who is dissatisfied with services rendered to him/her HCP has th right to make formal complaint to his/her HMO/NHIS
• A subcribed enrollee who falls ill outside his station has the right to access care from any NHIS accredited provider in that location upon presentation of NHIS identity card. The HMO covering that subscribed enrollee would later reimburse the HCP.

Emergency case like I'm sick and need to see a doctor? what's d meaning of hmo?
Uricas:

Thanks for the reply. I'm in Obafemi Awolowo University.

kavey10:
Sir, mine is UNIBEN. Thanks.

Yes, like urgent need to see doctor when sick or accident cases.
HMO is Health Maintenance Organisation. They are private or public incorporated company registered by the NHIS solely to manage the provision of healthcare service through NHIS accredited Health Care Providers (hospitals). They are the middle men between NHIS and the Health Care Providers and enrollees.

UNIBEN and Obafemi Awolowo University are both using Wise Health services ltd as their HMO. Their address is Ayantomi house, 1709 Olugbosi cresent off bishop oluwole steet, victoria island, lagos. Or 27, is ababa crescent, wuse, zone 4, abuja. Phone numbs 08023628812 or 08020586169

You are welcome.

When I said private HMO I mean HMO private plan. Am guessing you work with federal government that is why you don't understand the term.

theplanmaker: Thanks for the info,....For the formal, is there an age limit for the children? then for the vcship, will the plan cover me if I'm treated in a private hospital or community health center? do I av to pay any percentage of my bills?

Formal covers employee, spouse and 4 biological children under the age of 18years.
For vcship as well as all other NHIS programmes, as long as you choose an NHIS accredited hospital, you only make 10% co-payment of your drugs, dripes, injections after treatment.
NHIS has private hospitals , general hospitals and community health centers in its accredited list, look out for NHIS posters in any hospital to be sure they are NHIS accredited or go any NhIS office.

Health / Re: Nhis(national Health Insurance Scheme) by upmanagers: 3:44pm On Jul 09, 2014
There are 3 levels of care in NHIS.
1. Primary health care providers- they act as first point of contact and gate keepers. In other words, when choosing a facility, every enrollee has a choice to chose a primary health care provider(hospital). The primary healthcare has about 70% cases yearly.
2. Secondary health care providers- contact with them is through referrals via primary provider.
3. Tertiary health care providers- entry is through referrals via primary and/or seconary providers.

I will go on to discuss enrollee benefit packages, which people are eligible for each programme and how to register

Health / Re: Could You Recommend Hospitals In Lagos To Use? by upmanagers: 4:17pm On Jul 04, 2014
Gdday ma,
My advice as a staff of NHIS. Is that it would be better for you to have first hand knowledge of the hospital you choose rather than have people suggest to you it would be best to go through the hospital list and search for hospitals close to you then personally check them out or ask people that have actually been using them.
