D truth is dat der is no perfect system d use of pvc has more flaws in terms of accountability, card readers ur better where they can't have more than 20percent flaws dat can be corrected with generators and reserve batteries, the use of pvc has 85 percent flaws wher ballot boxes are stolen and ballot papers reprinted and can easily result to confusion and chaos

Hello,please my questions go thus
1.It was being proposed sometimes last year that the nhis was planning to enrol school pupils which would have significantly increased total coverage against the dismal 5percent coverage of the nhis.well,it appears that's not going to be a reality anytime soon.I will like to know why this project failed or if not when the project is going to kick off
2.The current mobile scheme being proposed, when exactly is it going to kick off cos it has been in the pipeline since last year too
3.Is it true that enrollees under nhis scheme with chronic illness like DM and hypertension can only be managed by secondary health providers and not primary health providers.so if paradventure they present in primary health provider centres they are referred to secondary health care providers
4.Earlier on u said enrollees are only requiired to pay 10percent of drug fees, but I know of some hospitals where nothing is being paid,u go in for whatever treatment and leave without paying anything.please how is this possible
Your kind response is being awaited.thanks

1. Its still on the pineline.
2. Mobile health has already kicked off in lagos and will be spread to other states. Dail *616# for MTN subscribers
3. If complication arise then its secondary health provider
4 yes, some health providers choose not to take the 10% to encourage and make things a bit more easier for enrollees

Just to be clear: are you saying NHIS is the regulatory body but also provides its own insurance
plan as well?

What do you mean by a principal in the formal sector?

Sorry if my questions are too many. I found myself in position of recommending health plans to
some families and NGOs. I have only been involved with Hygeia and AVON which cover you and your
spouse including four(4) children. I am trying to gather as much information as possible.

Thanks for your time.

Yes, NHIS is the regulatory body and also provides its own insurance plan as well?

PRINCIPAL is the person from whose salary the premium is been deducted.

Please read previous post and answers given to question for more understanding and so that we won't keep repeating what have been said.

Please I have two questions:
1.What is the difference between NHIS and the health insurance
plans provided by bodies like AVON and Hygeia?

2. Is there a regulatory body for all these health insurance plan?

Thanks.

NHIS is the regulatory body and that's of of the difference between NHIS and the HMO's.
Also NHIS is nationwide, allows a principal in the formal sector chose 2 different hospitals for themself and their family in 2 states.
NHIS enrollees are able to receive treatment in any accredited faciliies that is not their's on emergency cases. Etc

i'm so happy for a thread like this and just want to ask few questions

1.i registered my ex-girlfriend as my dependant on the rumours that if you're not married you won't be eligible for NHIS,now im happily married and want to change her to my dependant. please how can i go about it?

2.it was rumoured in some quaters that NHIS cost administered per annum is #300,000 so once your treatment exceed the said amount you will have to pay for the rest.please how true is that?
3.on the green card that was issued to me on registration,ROSENBURG was written there and i think its the contractor if i'm right?. is there a law stating that i should be paid that said amount above if i didn't fall sick at all throughout the year? (afterall the money is allocated for my treatment as government official) lol!
please let me have your say on these issues........
NHIS registers both married and single people.
You can go to NHIS office to delet your ex and go with the passport photographh of your wife and children for addition which will cost you N500 per person payable to NHIS UBA account that will be given to you when you get to the office.
You do not get any money from not going to your HCP.
NHIS has a benefit package, some threatment require only co-payment, some are part paid for and some are under the exclusion list.

I work with government, already on nhis program. Can I include my parents in my nhis account? (They are both over 60 year).
Yes you can add them as your extra dependants by getting a bank draft of N9,000 for each of them, you will also need their passport photograph, know the HCP they want which may not be thesame as the one you use, it can also be in a different state

I'm just wondering if that address is the headquarters of the NHIS. I also wonder why you didn't choose the Ilorin office instead or the port Harcourt office.

NHIS headquaters is at plot 297, shehu yaradua way, utako district, abuja.
I put lagos zonal office address because am lagos and ikeja state office address because that's my office.

For federal government staff and Organised Private Sector (OPS)
A principal with more than one wife or more than four children can enrollee them under him as his/her extra dependants. Other people that fall under extra dependants are the principals sister(s), brother(s), parent(s), inlaw(s).
To do this, the principal gets a commercial bank draft worth N9000, payable to National Health Insurance Scheme.

Pls I want to know more about dis NHIS; I work with a private organisation, how do I go about the registration; can I register my daughter and myself only? If yes, under what plan will I be going for and what is the cost of the total package?

If your organisation has 10 staff and above You can enrol for NHIS Organised private sector (ops) programme which covers a staff(principal) spouse and 4 kids under 18years.the cost would be 5% of the staff cumulated salary (employer pays 3.25% while employee pays 1.75%). If you are in lagos you can call me.
or go for a the individual plan through the National Mobile health Insurance programme which is N12,000 per year per person. Dial *616# with your mTn line and follow the platform to choose

My HMO is liberty blue by THT( Total Heakth Trust Ltd)..provides health care service that covers all treatment as the case may be..And no co-payment needed at the point of collection of drugs..so it is entirely free!..anyways it actually depend on the company u work!

Reason being that you are using THT's private plan and not any of NHIS programme

What's this private plan of a thing all about pls?

Private plan from any HMO is a programme organised by the said HMO in accordance with the money paid by individual or firm.
It is totally different from NHIS programme

my husband works with a private org. and registered us with united healthcare at his office, i want to know if its same with NHIS, Cos i started my antenatal treament with their card but it got to a stage the hospital stopped attending to me cos the hmo refused to take responsibilty of the past treatment.

United Healthcare is accredited as 1 on NHIS HMO list but also has its own private plan.
I guess your husband is coved under their private plan.
NHIS covers from antinatal, delivery (both cs and womanly delivery) and postnatal upto 12weeks.

Pizzanatty:

There Is Limit To Liability For An Enrollee Under A Particular Plan And Also Maybe The Plan That Covers U Is Nt Comprehensive Enough To Cover Ur Antenatal Charges. E.G A Plan For Say 26k Cannt Cover For Ur Antenatal. Hence A Plan For Say 50k Will Cover For It.
There Are Hmo Dt Are Accredited By Nhis. The Nhis Makes D Cost To Be Affordable And Also They Still Run Their Private Plans.

Please how can one register as a formal worker and what are the requirements? Thanks

If you work with federal government then ask from your collegues that are already registered or your admin dept to find out your HMO, they are the once to register u free with you and ur wife and 4 biological kids under 18years passport and also me for of identification.
If you work with a private firm with atleast 10 staff then your admin/ management would need to send to NHIS a letter of intention to join NHIS OPS programme. You can call me during working hours, mon-fri.

I don't intend keeping silent though. I have plans on what to do. I don't mind loosing the job as I am planning to quite teaching soon . is boring. I just do not want to start pointing fingers, as the girl might not talk again . my colleague told me the girl was taken somewhere and was threatened to be flogged by uncle T 's mum. she is a teacher there too. but I promise I won't let it go off like that.

If u really don't intend keeping silent about it then please speakup sooner, more child molestion may be taking place by this uncle T just cos you are waiting for the perfect plan or time.
Tell the girl to tell her parents cos they wil beat uncle t and his mum and any other person that doesn't want her to talk. Let her see her parents as the best people to protect her from people like uncle t.
Right now she is going tru trauma and her self esteem may never been crushed beyond redemption if u don't act soon plus her life would never be thesame as those of her age mate.
Please take action fast.
Family / Re: When The Bossoms Fail To Produce Milk. by upmanagers: 9:53pm On Nov 22, 2014
OBUKOMENA:
Dear Nairalanders,I am here unbehalf of my brother's wife to seek advice and solution on what she and her baby (my niece) her passing through.
Ever since she gave birth few weeks ago,her bossoms have produced little or no milk for her baby's consumption. It is really affecting the baby and now, she's looking malnourished...Please,what can she do about it?I know I can get the needed advice here..Thanks in advance!

I ve seen two women that had dsame issue.
Wasn't cos they did position well wen feeding baby or didn't take necessary measure. Both had the same problem
1. They delivered over 10days after EDD (may not have been the problem
2. They were both over stressed by work before baby was born. This particularly reduced the fluid in their body (very few women experience this after effect)
And so with the husbands sucking, all the water, plenty pap (ogi) and palmwine drinking, plus all other tins different pple would suggest their was no way out.

If she has been to the hospital and still nothin they baby needs to feed
Solution:
1. Start giving baby baby formular bt mix very light and use spoon instead of bottle.
2. Get a good multi vitamin for baby e.g haliborange or any other one you are sure is good.

Goodluck
