Foreign AffairsAustralia Unveils Major Changes To Citizenship Process by Urukpe(op): 8:46am On Apr 20, 2017
Australia will make it more difficult to gain citizenship in a major overhaul of its migration process.
Aspiring citizens will undergo tougher tests on their English language skills and ability to demonstrate "Australian values", PM Malcolm Turnbull said.
Applicants must also have completed four years as a permanent resident - three years longer than at present.
The move comes two days after Australia unveiled stricter visa requirements for skilled workers from overseas.
Mr Turnbull said the changes would ensure that migrants were better integrated into the community.
"It is important that they understand that they are making a commitment to our Australian values," he said.
What are the changes?
In explaining what constituted "Australian values", Mr Turnbull said migrants must demonstrate support for religious freedom and gender equality.
"Respect for women and children ... that is a key Australian value," he said, adding domestic violence would not be tolerated.
Other changes to the citizenship process include:
A more stringent English language test involving reading, writing, listening and speaking;
Providing evidence of integration into the community, such as employment history, school enrolment or membership of community organisations;
Having already been a permanent resident for at least four years;
Allowing applicants to apply only three times, and automatically failing anyone who cheats on a test.

When asked about reports that applicants would be quizzed on whether they supported forced child marriage or female genital mutilation, Mr Turnbull said it was important to "reinforce our values".
"If we believe that respect for women and children [is an Australian value]... then why should that not be made a key part, a fundamental part, a very prominent part, of our process to be an Australian citizen?"
Tightening rules
The requirements would apply to all new applications for citizenship, the government said.
On Tuesday, the government said it would replace a controversial visa scheme to make it harder for foreign nationals to work in Australia.
Mr Turnbull said both announcements had been made in the national interest.
The opposition Labor Party accused Mr Turnbull of making announcements for political gain.
"It seems a little odd to me that you would actually ask people whether or not they are going to obey the law when they already pledge to obey the law," said Labor senator Penny Wong.

PoliticsHow I Foiled Tinubu Further Trial After Code Of Conduct Tribunal Ruling — Adoke by Urukpe(op): 5:26pm On Apr 18, 2017
A former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu, escaped Federal Government’s appeal of his victory at the Code of Conduct Tribunal due to the benevolence of a former Attorney-General of the Federation, Bello Adoke, the latter has claimed.
Mr. Adoke said in an interview with The Cable that he prevailed on the Nigerian government to step down appeal process against Mr. Tinubu, after the tribunal in 2011quashed the APC chieftain’s trial for alleged operation of foreign accounts.
“Even I am told that the Tinubu people think I was the one responsible for his trial at the Code of Conduct Bureau, but I was not the one.
“In fact, when the government wanted to appeal, I stood my ground that Tinubu should not be disgraced.
“I argued that there are people in Nigeria that we just cannot afford to rubbish over anything,” Mr. Adoke said while responding to questions about why the anti-graft EFCC is trying him for his alleged role in the $1.3 billion Malabu scandal.
The ex-justice minister used the interview to deny any wrongdoing, despite his indictment and investigation by Nigerian and Italian authorities.
Mr. Adoke, who was AGF between April 2010 and May 2015, did not say if he made entreaties to relevant authorities before the government slammed a three-count criminal charge against Mr. Tinubu.

The former Lagos governor was tried before the CCT, led by Danladi Umar, on charges that he was running foreign bank accounts while governor, in violation of Section 7 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act.

But on November 30, 2011, Mr. Umar, who chaired a three-member panel that tried the case, dismissed the Nigerian government’s charges, describing them as a “trial by ambush.”
“There is condition precedent before this court that the accused person ought to have been invited by the CCB before this charge was filed, though the prosecuting counsel tendered the initial one-count charge dated March 22, which it eventually replaced with an amended charge dated September 19 but filed on the 20th, as an exhibit before this court, it, however, failed to adduce evidence of invitation it extended to the accused person prior to the charge.
“Consequently, it will be proper for me at this stage to cease further exercise of jurisdiction since the condition precedent was not met before the charge was filed,” Vanguard Newspapers quoted Mr. Umar as saying at the time.
Yet, Mr. Adoke said the Jonathan administration was planning to appeal the verdict at the time, but he intervened to hush up the case, even at the risk of appearing to be working for the opposition.
“Tinubu knows very well that I did that,” Mr. Adoke said. “There was nothing legally possible that Tinubu wanted that I did not do for him, which made people even accuse me of working for the opposition at that time.”
Mr. Adoke’s comments came nearly a year after Mr. Umar said he came under “serious influence” to discard Mr. Tinubu’s case, but said he ultimately did what was in the best interest of the country.
“I want to say that during the case of Bola Tinubu, we were under serious influence so we did what we had to do,” the CCT chairman said, stressing that the tribunal “did what it had to do”.
Mr. Tinubu’s spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, did not immediately respond to PREMIUM TIMES’ requests for comments about Mr. Adoke’s statement Tuesday afternoon.

Politics$43m Found In Lagos Home Not Mine, Says Amaechi by Urukpe(op): 7:11pm On Apr 15, 2017
Minister of Transportation and immediate past Governor of Rivers State , Mr . Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has denied ownership of the $ 43 m found in a luxury apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos .
The former governor of Rivers State also denied any link with the house as well.
He said he has no business , link or connection to the money or property and that he does not know who owns the money or the apartment.
He also dismissed the claims by his successor , Mr . Nyesom Wike that the money belongs to him (Amaechi) .
Wike had alleged at a press conference on Friday night , that “ the money in question belongs to the former Rivers State Governor , Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. ”
He also insinuated that the “ houses’” in Ikoyi equally belong to the former governor Amaechi.
In a statement released by his Media Office in Abuja on Saturday, Amaechi described the claims as malicious , frivolous and another failed attempt by Wike to divert attention from the mess he has created in Rivers State.
According to the statement , “ Wike has stolen Rivers State dry . Wike and his gang have frittered billions of naira of Rivers people money away .
“ Rivers State is perpetually in crisis , the state in a mess as Wike has made a total mess of governance in the State . That child who sits there as governor is confused, he doesn ’ t know what to do . Wike ’ s only solution is to attack Amaechi.
“ Since he became governor, Wike sleeps and wakes up every day , with a sole , one - point agenda to attack and denigrate Rotimi Amaechi, no matter how ridiculous and silly he sounds .
“ Everyday in Rivers State , there is one frivolous, false story of what Amaechi did or didn ’ t do . Same pattern , the same blatant lies with no proof, same old concocted stories of corruption allegations against Amaechi told with different flavours.
“ At this rate, if Wike is unable to perform his spousal duties , he will blame it on Amaechi. Yes , that ’ s how despicably low he can go in his consuming fixation to throw mud at Amaechi. ”
“ This latest outburst by Wike is typical of him . We are aware that Wike first tried to float the fake news of Amaechi’ s ownership of the recovered $ 43 million and the Ikoyi house in the social media using his minions and lackeys , spending huge sums of Rivers money on the failed project.
“ His minions and lackeys were calling journalists , bloggers and media organisations to run the fake story with promises of almost irresistible mouth- watering compensation for using the fake story.
“ When that failed and the story didn ’ t gain traction that was when Wike decided to hurriedly hold the press conference Friday night , to rant and spew his outright lies , yet again without providing any proof of Amaechi’ s ownership of both the property and the money . ”
“ For clarity and emphasis , Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is not the owner of the $ 43 million and the Ikoyi apartment in which the money was recovered from . Amaechi has no business , link or connection to the money or property . Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi does not know who owns the money or Ikoyi apartment. ”
Amaechi described Wike ’ s malicious allegation of corruption against Amaechi in the sale of the Gas Turbines as not new .
He said that the false claim had been punctured repeatedly with facts and evidence of the transfer payments for the power plants into Rivers State government accounts by Sahara Energy .
He said , “The records of how the funds were spent and what it was spent on are in the records of the State government . Amaechi has absolutely no business or any interest whatsoever in Sahara Energy. The company was already a thriving business concern before Amaechi’ s emergence as governor of Rivers State in 2007 .
“ We urge all right - thinking members of the public to completely disregard all the false , politically motivated no -proof claims by Nyesom Wike and his minions as it concerns Amaechi and the $ 43 million and Ikoyi property .
“ The false accusations by Wike is purely diversionary , a political smear campaign against Amaechi by Wike , while he steals Rivers State blind . The fake claims is a figment of the imagination of Wike , an ignoble fellow who ’ s so reckless , irresponsible , and disgraceful , and has debased the high office he holds in trust for the people.
“ Wike is a rabble - rouser and should not be taken seriously. He has made several false claims like this in the recent past and never went the whole length to prove it because he had no proof.
“ Many would recall how Wike was screaming all over national television stations just before the Rivers State legislative Rerun elections that he had an explosive video , containing earth -shaking revelations and he would show the video on national TV . Till date , no video , just talk and talk, telling more and more lies . ”
He challenged Wike to charge him to court if he has any shred of evidence that the money belongs to Rivers State and was kept in the Ikoyi apartment by him .
“ But like his numerous frivolous accusations in the past, we know he won ’ t go to court . He has nothing to substantiate his blatant lies . This Wike ’ s recent tale like his previous ones is a big sham , a disgraceful political drama , and a campaign of calumny to defame and destroy the sterling reputation of Rotimi Amaechi. This is now Wike ’ s sole life ambition, ” he added.
He urged Nigerians to note that “ Wike ’ s reckless, irresponsible and fictitious tirade against the President Buhari administration at his media briefing of Friday” was a declaration of war against the Federal Government.

PoliticsWike, NIA Fight Over Ownership Of N13bn Seized By EFCC by Urukpe(op): 7:21am On Apr 15, 2017
Eniola Akinkuotu, Friday Olokor, Chukwudi Akasike and Olayele Aluko

The controversy surrounding the ownership of the N13bn ($43.4m, N23m and £27,000) found by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission at the Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, took a dramatic turn on Friday evening when Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and the National Intelligence Agency claimed ownership of the money.

The National Intelligence Agency on Friday said the money belonged to it.

A national daily had earlier reported that the money belonged to the NIA. Sources at the agency confirmed to one our correspondents late Friday that the money belonged to the agency and that it had written a formal letter to President Muhammadu Buhari to claim ownership of the money.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that the NIA, which is Nigeria’s foreign intelligence service, explained that the money, which was found on the seventh floor of the building, was approved by former President Goodluck Jonathan for covert operations and security projects covering a period of years.

The money was said to have been released in bits during the tenure of a former NIA director-general.

A source said that the cash was approved before the advent of the Treasury Single Account.

He stated that the Director-General of the NIA, Amb. Ayo Oke; the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu; and the National Security Adviser, Babagana Moguno, had met over the issue. A Presidency source also confirmed the meeting to one of our correspondents.

The NIA source explained that when EFCC operatives stormed the Ikoyi property on Wednesday, they were informed that the said apartment was a safe house of the NIA from which discreet operations were carried out.

The EFCC boss, however, rejected all entreaties from the NIA and entered the building, breaking the fireproof safes and taking the money.

The source, who wished to remain anonymous because he was not authorised to speak with the media, said, “The money belongs to the NIA. It is for covert operations and security projects covering a period of years. The DG has met with the President, he has explained everything to him. The President asked him to put everything into writing and he has done so.

“The entire chain of events was a big misunderstanding. That place was an NIA safe house and you have to understand that the NIA carries out discreet investigation in conjunction with many agencies across the world.

“On the day the EFCC men gathered around the house, the NIA reached out to Magu to explain to him that the money was the property of the Federal Government and the place was an NIA safe house. Unfortunately, the EFCC still went ahead to break down the doors.”

But Wike, who described the claim that the cash belonged to the NIA as balderdash, alleged that the immediate past governor of the state and the current Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, kept the money in the apartment.

As such, the Rivers State governor gave the Federal Government a seven-day ultimatum to return the money to the state government or be ready to face legal action.

Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Friday night, Wike said the $43m was part of the proceeds from the sale of a gas turbine by the immediate past administration, adding that the gas turbine was initially built by the Peter Odili administration.

The governor further challenged the Federal Government to set up a commission of inquiry to probe the source of the huge money found in the flat, insisting that the funds belonged to Rivers people and should be returned to the owners within seven days.

He said, “All these things they are saying that the $43m belong to the Nigerian Intelligence Agency is balderdash. When did the NIA begin to keep money in houses? As I speak to you now, the Federal Government is so embarrassed.

“I want the President to set up a commission of inquiry. We don’t want to fight anybody; they should set up a commission of inquiry or return our money within seven days. If they don’t, we will take all necessary legal actions and NIA will come and prove where they got the money from.

“The $43m is the proceeds of the sale of the gas turbine sold by the immediate past administration. The gas turbine was built by the (Peter) Odili administration. It (gas turbine) was sold to Sahara Energy.

“The turbine was sold for $319m. But as of May 2015, what was in the account was $204,000. We will avail ourselves and we will be present at the commission of inquiry expected to be set up by the Federal Government. If we are invited, we will come. There is no contradiction in this at all, but I know they (FG) will not agree.”

Wike maintained that he would complete the monorail project if the Federal Government returned the $43m to Rivers State, adding that it would be “projects galore” in the state should the money be returned back to its original owner.

“Part of the money from the sale of the gas turbine was used to fund the All Progressives Congress campaign. We are telling the world that the money belongs to us. If they (FG) give us the money, I will complete the monorail project,” he said.

When contacted, the media aide to Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, Mr. David Iyofor, said he would react to Wike’s claim on Saturday (today).

The money has since been deposited into the account of the Central Bank of Nigeria following an interim forfeiture order granted by a Federal High Court in Lagos.

The court had also ruled that if the owner of the money did not show up within 30 days, it would be forfeited to the federal Government permanently.

EFCC keeps mum

All attempts to speak with the spokesperson for the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, on Friday proved abortive as his phone indicated that it was switched off while a text message sent to his phone was not responded to.

It’s a security issue –Presidency

When contacted, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, directed our correspondent to the security agencies said to have been involved in the matter.

“This is not a matter for the Presidency. It is a security issue and I will advise you to get across to the agencies mentioned,” he said on the telephone.

SERAP, CD, others hit EFCC for hiding owners’ identities

But socio-political groups, including the Socio-Economic Right Accountability Project and the Campaign for Democracy, criticised the EFCC for hiding the identities of the owners of the recently recovered funds in Lagos and Kaduna.

SERAP and the CD, in separate interviews with Saturday PUNCH, said that it was anti-democratic for the EFCC to shield the identities of the owners of recovered money.

The SERAP Director, Adetokunbo Mumuni, said, “Whatever information that the EFCC has about any money abandoned or found in any place deserves to be released to the public. In a democracy, there can’t be opaqueness. This issue affects public interest and it is against the collective interest if the EFCC withholds the identities.

“The EFCC’s action will be contrary to public policy and anti-democratic if the information is not released. What will happen if the EFCC is not open is that it will give room for rumours, which is not good for democracy.”

In his own remarks, the CD President, Usman Abdul, said, “The EFCC of recent has just been playing to the gallery. The APC-led Federal Government should not take citizens for a ride. After the denial of the confirmation of the EFCC Chair, Magu, we have had several seizures in Kaduna and Lagos states, without anybody having being identified as the custodians of these monies.

“It is quite laughable that new notes of money, even hard to get in banks, were found and the EFCC cannot disclose who committed such acts.”

On his part, the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, said that it was unfortunate that Magu’s EFCC out of desperation had thrown caution to the wind in the desperate attempt to be in the news and excite the public.

He stated, “You found such volume of cash without any attempt to find the owners and you start a cinema of exhibit. A sergeant IPO who does that should be fired without benefits.

“You cannot tell me that you cannot trace the title of a property in Ikoyi at Alausa in a matter of hours .But it seems Magu is all about anti-corruption and seduction.

“If Magu fails to disclose the owners of the money, it means that the anti-corruption war has become a ‘night of a thousand laughs.’”

Also, the Executive Secretary, Anti-Corruption Network, Ebenezer Oyetakin, said, “The fight against corruption must be total, unambiguous, true in character and content, transparent in outlook and must not be cloudy in presentation to the public.”

He said that the shielding of the identity of the looters in itself was corruption and detrimental to the success of the fight against graft.

Oyetakin stated, “The fact that this is fuelling speculations that those involved are government officials of the present regime is too bad for the image of the government that is fighting corruption.

“This is why I must vehemently call on the EFCC to do the needful by releasing the names of the looters. The more reason why the names should be made known is to serve deterrence against such practices.

“However, I am more concerned that arresting and making this type of discovery once in a month is not the only way to fight corruption or regained the loots, otherwise fifty years will not be enough to regain looted funds.”

He called for the re-denomination of the naira, adding that owners of looted funds could come out and change their money.

A former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adamu Mu’azu was reported to have said that he knew nothing about funds recovered at a property reported to be his in Ikoyi, Lagos.

An online newspaper, The Cable, reported that Mu’azu, who was the Governor of Bauchi State from 1999 to 2007, said he got a bank loan to acquire the land where the house was built, adding that he sold the house to pay back the loan.

Another online newspaper, Sahara Reporters, reported that the Minister of Transportation, Amaechi, said he had no connection whatsoever with the apartment or the money.

He was reported to have said that he did not own any apartment or house in Lagos, stating that his only property in Nigeria was in Abuja.

Mr. David Iyofor, a media aide to the Minister of Transport and former Governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi has returned a punch thrown at the Transport Minister by Mr. Lere Olayinka, a media aide to the Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose, who accused the minister of being connected with the over N5billion recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC at a Lagos house on Wednesday.

In a statement made on his Facebook page, Fayose’s aide had alleged that the Transport Minister owns the house where the alleged looted money was found by the anti-graft agency.

But in response, Amaechi’s aide said the allegation is false, warning Mr. Olayinka to delete the allegation or face jail term.

According to Olayinka, “The Osborne Towers, a luxury residential complex in Ikoyi, Lagos where EFCC said it found $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23, 218,000 on Wednesday is owned by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.”

“The house was built by Alhaji Adamu Muazu, the former Chairman of PDP
through a loan from GTBank.”

“He could not repay the loan so GTB took over the house and allocated the Pent House to Muazu and two flats.”

“Rotimi Amaechi bought TWO of the flats (7A and 7B). He then gave 7A to MO ABUDU, the TV presenter, who is suspected to be his girl friend.”

“But the flat 7B where the money was found belong to Rotimi Amaechi. The is believed to be cash kept for 2019 elections.”

“Let’s see how the cover up game goes.”

But replying Olayinka, Mr. Iyofor said, “Lere or whatever you call yourself, delete your lies or be ready to face the consequences of stupidity and utter foolishness.”

“You better hear well before your ear sends you to prison. Lying is not playing Politics. You dont play politics by tweeting outright lies.”

“Where is your proof? If you think you can link Amaechi to the House&money by tweeting this rubbish, then you need to have your head examine.”

“Big Liar! Demonic Liar! Listen, you disgusting pig, Rotimi Amaechi is not connected or linked in anyway whatsoever to the house &/or money.”

Recall that operatives of Economic EFCC, had found $38 million, £27,000 and N23 million in a private residence on Gerard Road, Ikoyi, Lagos

RomanceUS Federal Court Rules Females Are Free To Display Their Breasts In Public by Urukpe(op): 3:38pm On Apr 13, 2017
Evolution of the human species started from unclothedness. The concept of indecency didn’t exist. As we developed into complex beings, we found reason to cover ourselves – to protect ourselves from the weather.

But in this so-called modern era, morality and ethics have become a highly contested issue among academics, governments and society as a whole; some people are of the opinion that a person should be granted an unlimited right, including allowing nudity in public places.

For some, this argument is considered profane and injurious to the social fabric of modern society. In conservative societies such as Africa and the Muslim world, certain dresses are considered indecent. Wearing them can be considered offensive, and the culprit, mostly women, can face punishment. There is no room for the debate of nudity in such societies.

This sharply contrasts with the Western world. People in the West are permitted to wear what they like. In Europe, for example, there are selected places where nudity is allowed. There has been a significant surge in places such as beaches and hotels where people can take all their clothes off without the worry of repercussion.

In the United States though, the issue of sex and the body is not that lax. Some municipalities have their own laws on how people should cover their bodies in public. Although there has been rising pressure from activists to get rid of these laws, towns and cities officials are determined to protect them.

The Municipality of Fort Collins in the state of Colorado passed an ordinance (No. 134) in November 2015, banning girls and women older than nine from exposing their breasts in public unless they were breastfeeding. City officials argued that allowing females to publicly expose their breasts would likely cause distraction among drivers and pedestrians. This, they believe, has a tendency to disrupt public order.

The law was quickly challenged in court in May 2016 by the activist group Free the Nipple. Free the Nipple is a movement that started from a 2012 film of the same name. The group staged protests throughout the city in the past, gathering topless in public spots. Commentators even suspect the activities of the group made city officials pass the law that banned them from exposing their breasts in public. Free the Nipple went to court demanding an injunction on the law.

The gender equality group said the ordinance was restrictive and discriminatory against women in the city. The group explained that if the law was fair, it should have banned both genders from exposing their breasts in public. But city officials countered this by saying the law did not discriminate because male and female breasts are different.

When the facts of the case were presented before the court, District Judge R. Brooke Jackson granted a preliminary injunction on ordinance No. 134. Jackson ruled that the law is discriminatory against women, as well as perpetuating stereotypes that sexualized female breasts.

The court stated that the primary difference between male and female breasts is the ability to breastfeed. Although the court noted the physical differences between the two, it stipulated that it was not enough to warrant different treatment from the government.

“I find that the ordinance discriminates against women based on the generalized notion that, regardless of a woman’s intent, the exposure of her breasts in public (or even in her private home if viewable by the public) is necessarily a sexualized act. Thus, it perpetuates a stereotype engrained in our society that female breasts are primarily objects of sexual desire whereas male breasts are not,” Jackson wrote in his ruling.

Although this is not the final ruling of the case, Jackson wrote that he granted the injunction in part because he believes he will ultimately find that the ordinance passed by the city violated the Equal Protection Clause.

He stated: “The Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment bars state governmental entities from discriminating between the sexes unless they have an ‘exceedingly persuasive justification’ for doing so. In this case, Fort Collins has on the books an ordinance that on its face discriminates against women.”

City attorney, Carrie Daggett said in a statement after the ruling that the city will review the judge’s decision and consider the next steps. It now looks as though the city is reluctant to give up on the case.

RomanceBride Disappears On Wedding Day In Ondo by Urukpe(op): 8:05am On Apr 10, 2017
The wedding ceremony between one Miss Taiwo Orimoloye and Abiodun Isaac was stalled on Saturday in Ondo town, Ondo State, as the bride, Taiwo, allegedly failed to show up for the church service.

Although the reason for the action of the bride was unknown as of press time, it was gathered that the development caused confusion in the two families as efforts to know the whereabouts of the bride were unsuccessful.

It was also gathered that the guests that attended the ceremony were disappointed and shocked at the sudden turn of events.

A family source said the couple began their wedding programme in December 2016 at the residence of the bride’s parents as both families met for the traditional wedding.

He said Saturday, April 9, 2017, was then fixed for the church service and consummation of the marriage.

He noted that no one had any premonition that the marriage would not hold.

A friend of the groom, who did not want his name in print, explained that all arrangements had been concluded and the church service was to hold at a Celestial Church of Christ branch in Ondo, when the bride disappeared.

He said, “All was well with the groom and the bride until on Saturday morning when Taiwo disappeared to an undisclosed location. Since then, she has remained incommunicado.”

Another source told PUNCH Metro that the mother of the bride slumped when the news of the disappearance of her daughter was broken to her.

She was said to have been rushed to the Ondo State Specialist Hospital, Ondo, where she was placed on admission.

Taiwo’s number was switched off when our correspondent put a call across to her, while the groom was prevented from speaking with journalists by his friends.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph, said the matter was not reported to the police.

He said, “We have no report of such with us; the matter was not reported to the police.”

OP, The only "brothers" you can truly have today are your biological brothers and celibate brethren. Even daddies screw their daughters up these days.

Other "brothers" are dicey. It's not a strange thing though. A lot of girls out there have misrepresented what a 'sister friend' should be too.

Just handle every case with maturity.

But to be sincere, you need to watch how you present
yourself and The kind of conversation you make with guys. Every guy cannot be asking for the same thing na.....It raises eyebrows on your side.

Pastors (even priests) are human too, and are capable of being carnal when they do not 'watch and pray'. Their behavior does not take away the anointing from them. God knows how and when to handle their misbehaviour.

Anyway, I believe you will find a real male friend someday, just be patient with time.
Please define what u mean by real male friend?

Here's a way to start winning;

Disabuse your mind from the believe that one religions is a terrorist religion, there are people in medical fields that are using the whole world as a laboratory, and experimenting with people's lives as they wish. They created diseases of different kinds and modify their abilities to be cured by simple medication. They've killed millions.

However, our religions need to stand up to their roles, if your followers keep killing without confrontation, then something is wrong with your teachings. Start a deliberate re-orientations and create the atmosphere for change of mind.

Politics3 Dead In Stockholm Sweden As Lorry Rammed Into Crowd by Urukpe(op): 3:58pm On Apr 07, 2017
A lorry has smashed into a store in central Stockholm, killing at least three people, Swedish police say.
Several people were also injured in the incident on Drottninggatan (Queen Street), one of the city's major pedestrian streets.
Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said everything pointed to an act of terrorism and that one person had been arrested. He gave no details.
The firm that owns the lorry said it had been hijacked earlier in the day.
The crash happened at the Ahlens department store just before 15:00 local time (13:00 GMT).
Swedish brewery Spendrups said its lorry had been stolen on its way to a restaurant delivery.

Shots have also reportedly been fired in another part of the city, says BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner, citing security sources.
It is not clear whether the two incidents are connected.

Witnesses say the lorry drove into the front window of the Ahlens store.
"There is total confusion. Many people are totally shocked," eyewitness Leif Arnmar told Swedish national broadcaster SVT.

PoliticsOzekhome Asks FG To Tender Public Apology To Justice Ademola by Urukpe(op): 2:15pm On Apr 06, 2017
Constitutional lawyer and human rights activist, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, has asked the Federal Government to tender a public apology to Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court over the nocturnal raid of his home by operatives of the Department of State Service, DSS, and his subsequent arrest and trial on “false corruption charges” Ozekhome Ozekhome, who reacted to the high court ruling that dismissed all the corruption charges FG preferred against the embattled Judge, maintained that the apology should also be extended to Ademola’s wife, Olabowale, and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Joe Agi, who were equally forced to pass through the rigours of trial. He equally urged the National Judicial Council, NJC, to immediately recall justice Ademola to commence sitting on the Bench, adding that the Lagos state government should equally do the same by recalling Ademola’s wife to her post. Ozekhome, in a statement entitled: ‘The discharge of Justice Niyi Ademola, Wife and Joe Agi, SAN; Matters Arising’, said the discharge of the defendants based on their no-case-submission, was “an obviously laughable and anti-climax after all the “gra gra”, grand standing, posturing, rabble rousing and wanton degradation of the judiciary by their transducers”. He said: “This discharge, after the horrific humiliation of Justice Ademola, whose home was savagely invaded by rampaging, masked and hooded DSS operatives, between the ungodly and unholy hours of 12 mid night to 5am! Windows and doors were bestially broken down and the Judge whisked off like a common criminal inside a pick up van. “We were told to shut up, not to complain, because the government was fighting the monster called corruption. Never mind that the inner corridors and dark recesses of the same government reek and stink of putrid and horrendous corruption, with the very government rising up on each occasion to defend its corrupt officials. “A case of wanting to sweep your neighbour’s house clean when your own house is dirty and stinking. A clear case of attempting to remove the mole from your neighbour’s eye when a log is embedded in yours. “Justice Ademola was forced to abdicate his judicial functions. It was argued by the anti- corruption revisionists and tyrannical dictators led by the never accountable Presidential Anti-Corruption Advisory Committee (that has since usurped the powers of the Attorney General of the Federation under section 174 of the 1999 Constitution and who are using the anti corruption mantra to settle scores and overwhelm and suffocate opposition, dissenting voices and critical segments of the society, that the DSS could never err. “They stood logic on its head, bastardised the Constitution and our corpus juris. They even extended DSS’s internal security functions to include fighting corruption, if need be, in our matrimonial bedrooms and breaking down houses of suspects who did not even resist arrest. “Justice Ademola ‘s wife was promptly sacked as Head of Service of Lagos state government. They were convicted and punished them unheard. Even God Himself, being ever so omniscient and omnipotent, did not do that to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, notwithstanding that He had already seen them committing the offence of eating of the forbidden fruit. “He still gave them a fair hearing before punishing them. Justice Ademola and other judges of the Supreme Court were tried and convicted in the media by the DSS and EFCC and adjudged guilty in the Court of public opinion, even without trial. “The Anglo-Saxon criminal justice system which is accusatorial, ie, presumption of innocence, rather than guilt, was discarded for the French model which is inquisitorial. “We were inundated with outright lies and shameless falsehood that the DSS could never err because it was fighting corruption. The same DSS is now being crudely vilified by the same anti-democratic, anti-rule of law elements for indicting Magu twice in its damning reports. “Suddenly, DSS is corrupt, lacks integrity and such balderdash. EFCC has shown itself to be an expert in procuring cheap ex-parte injunctions against innocent souls whose accounts and properties are brazenly frozen and attached without the owners’ knowledge. “When the real trial commences, their legal hollowness and emptiness stare them in their opaque and vindictive faces. “Ademola’s discharge without even being called upon to defend himself, is a great and bitter lesson to this government that is fast descending into the abyss of fascism, dictatorship, tyranny and absolutism, through the cheap, self-serving, low quality advice of its minders; that the fundamental rights of Nigerians remain inalienable and inviolable; that the judiciary and rule of law remain necessary indispensable concomitants and corollary adjuncts of constitutional democracy which we operate. “That rule of Law, rather than rule of the thumb and brute force, is what determines the success or otherwise of democracy. “To remove the odious and negative tar of shame, odium and obloquy on these respected members of the society, the EFCC and federal government must make restitution by tendering a public apology immediately to Justice Ademola, his wife and Mr Joe Agi,SAN. “The NJC should immediately recall justice Ademola to commence sitting on the Bench. The Lagos state government should immediately recall Ademola’s wife to her post. “We must be careful not to derail this hard won democracy, which some of us used the best part of our youth fighting for and are still fighting for. “Those currently running and ruining the country were nowhere to be found then. They comfortably hid behind their wives’ backs. Like Roman’s Emperor Nero, they enjoyed and pursued triffles while their country’s edifice burnt”.

Foreign AffairsCalifornia Senate Passes 'sanctuary State' Bill by Urukpe(op): 6:12pm On Apr 04, 2017
After heated debate, the California Senate passed a so-called “sanctuary state” bill on Monday. While many Republicans argued that the bill would lead to dangerous criminals being let loose on the streets — warning that the measure would draw the ire of President Donald Trump — Democrats said that California had to take a stand in defense of “hardworking” immigrants that have become part of the country’s cultural and economic backbones.
The bill, formally known as Senate Bill 54, would prohibit state and local law enforcement agencies from using resources to investigate, detain, report or arrest persons for the purposes of immigration enforcement.
The Senate voted 27 to 12 along party lines to pass the measure, which will next be considered by the state Assembly before possibly going to the governor’s desk. California “cannot be intimidated” by threats from Trump to deny sanctuary jurisdictions of federal funds, said state Sen. Kevin de León, the bill’s author. “This is about making our communities safer, not less safe … We don’t grovel and put our hand out so we can get a little money and buy a police car,” he said. “Our role and responsibility is to protect all individuals.”

In an interview for a previous story, León told TIME that the bill will help ensure that all the state’s residents report violent crimes and feel safe enough to interact with government systems such as schools, hospitals and courts. Aggressive immigration enforcement policies have a "chilling effect," he said.
“We don’t have to collaborate and use our local tax dollars to enforce federal immigration laws,” he said in that interview. “If they want to go after the bad guys, the violent felons and drug dealers, we are more than happy to continue to work with them. But if they want to split families up and deport the nanny, that’s not what America’s about and that’s not what California is about.”
Republicans argued on Monday that immigration policy is the domain of the federal government and the bill amounts to the state overstepping its bounds, saying that the measure would also make California a “magnet” for those who commit crimes.

Promising to deport undocumented immigrants was one of Trump's key campaign promises. Since taking office, Trump has issued orders directing that immigration laws be enforced more aggressively and expanding the definition of “criminal aliens” who are targeted for deportation. Before taking office, Trump vowed to create a “deportation force” to carry out such work.
“You’ll be kicking the president right in the groin,” Republican state Sen. Jeff Stone said of the bill, “and I imagine he’s going to strike back.”
The ACLU’s Jennie Pasquarella, director of immigrants’ rights in California, told TIME that the bill is “critical because the only way for the federal government to carry out the kind of mass deportations that they are threatening is through cooperation with local law enforcement.”
While immigrant advocates and some law enforcement officials have expressed support for the measure, arguing that trust between immigrants and local officials is important for public safety, California sheriffs have said it could allow criminals to “slip through the cracks.” In advance of the vote, León amended his bill to allow local law enforcement agents to notify federal authorities about the release of violent criminals.

A new poll conducted by the University of California at Berkeley found that there is bipartisan support in the state when it comes to providing a pathway to citizenship and opposing Trump’s proposed wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, yet there are deep divides about sanctuary status. And those can grow deeper depending on how the notion of being a “sanctuary city” is described.
When asked whether they support cities declaring sanctuary status, meaning that local police and enforcement officials do not “automatically turn undocumented immigrants over to federal immigration officers,” 56% of California voters support that position – including 74% of Democrats but only 20% of Republicans.

California has emerged as one of the most powerful seats of resistance to conservative policies coming out of Washington since the election. Earlier in the day, lawmakers debated another measure that would help fund legal representation for immigrants in deportation proceedings, who can be left without counsel when they are unable to afford it.
While some Republicans lawmakers criticized the measure, saying taxpayers should not foot bills for immigrants who did not come through “the front door," Democrats still found the votes to pass it in the Senate, 28 to 11, arguing that it was basic due process for a population that is crucial to the country.“Immigrants are under attack,” said Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener, expressing support for the bill. “It’s really important for California, for our government, for this legislature, to send a clear signal to our immigrant communities that we have your back.”

RomanceEngineer Marries Robot After Failing To Find A Wife by Urukpe(op): 2:59pm On Apr 04, 2017
Faced with near constant rejection, he took the enterprising approach and built himself a wife instead.

Zheng Jiajia, 31, is an engineer specialising in Artificial Intelligence, so had all the skills to design and programme his partner to his exacting specifications.

He built the ‘female’ robot named Yingying at the end of 2016 and things moved fast, the South China Morning Post reports.

Just a few months later, they tied the knot, in a ceremony which, disappointingly, was not legally binding.

Yingying, who weighs 30kg, is able to speak a few simple words and can identify Chinese characters.

Disappointingly for Zheng, she is lacking in domestic skills as she is not yet able to walk.

However, he plans to upgrade her to do housework at a later date as they slowly grow old together.

On the day of the ceremony on Friday, she wore a red shawl around her head and a black suit for the traditional ritual.

One of Zheng’s friends told the paper that he took the unorthodox approach after he couldn’t find a girlfriend.

His mother and friends witnessed the marriage.
