A plane carrying 81 people, including a top Brazilian football team, has crashed on its approach to the city of Medellin in Colombia, officials say. Reports say there are six survivors. The plane reported electrical problems. The chartered aircraft, flying from Bolivia, was carrying members of the Chapecoense football team, airport officials said. The team was due to play in the final of the Copa Sudamericana, against Medellin team Atletico Nacional. The first leg of the final of the cup, South America's second most important club competition, was scheduled for Wednesday, but has now been suspended. Unconfirmed reports suggest that at least two members of the team - Alan Ruschel and Danilo - may have survived. The sports network Telemundo Deportes tweeted (in Spanish) that Ruschel was in shock but conscious and talking, and asked to keep his wedding ring and to see his family. The team, from the southern city of Chapeco, was promoted to Brazil's first division in 2014 and reached the final last week after a victory against Argentina's San Lorenzo. Reports say the British Aerospace 146 short-haul plane, operated by Bolivian charter airline Lamia and carrying 72 passengers and nine crew, crashed in Cerro Gordo in the municipality of La Union shortly before midnight local time (05:00 GMT). According to an airport press release, it was reporting an electrical fault to the control tower. Medellin's Mayor Federico Gutierrez described it as "a tragedy of huge proportions". The Jose Maria Cordova de Rionegro airport, which serves Medellin, posted on its Twitter account: "Confirmed, the aircraft licence number CP2933 was carrying the team @ChapecoenseReal. Apparently there are survivors." It later said in a statement that "all possible aid was being mobilised because six survivors are being reported". Poor weather has meant that the crash site, in a mountainous area, is only accessible by land. However, there was no fire on impact, which has given rescuers hope that more survivors may be found. Conmebol said in a statement that its president, Alejandro Dominguez, was on his way to Medellin. "The Conmebol family greatly regrets what happened. All activities of the confederation are suspended until further notice," it said. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-38140981 |

genali:I Think they use place of origin rather than state of origin which make more sense, if u go thru all the states list u will see northern name in them. I think the catch here is that most educated northerners don't leave the north to settled in the other area that much. for the record I saw northern names in bayelsa state list. |
YourNemesis:True |
There are series of silent protests from people of Northern Nigeria over the recently released list of beneficiaries for the N-Power empowerment programme. The issue is that most of the names released for graduate category of Northern Nigeria are Southern Names. The North is not happy about this. The protest might hit the streets soon. I think the problem we have here is the problem of understanding the difference between place of origin and place of residence. Perhaps, the federal govt used the one that did not favor the North for the N-Power programme which is the place of residence, and it seem to favor the Igbos and Yorubas more. How can a name like Ebuka be appearing on the list for Adamawa state? VP Osinbajo is in trouble! - Copied |

A groom's lover stunned wedding guests when she turned up at the ceremony - wearing the same dress as the bride. The ceremony, which is thought to have taken place in Ghana, was interrupted when the woman burst in wearing a white veil , gloves and gown. A video taken at the wedding shows guests whooping as the love cheat groom stands looking sheepish. Meanwhile, his lover can be seen trying to stand close to the pair as a man attempts to usher her away. Shouting and screaming can be heard and, at one stage, the woman grabs the mic and speaks to the audience in a local dialect, apparently explaining that the groom is a philanderer. It is unclear whether the ceremony went ahead, however GhanaAudioVisiualNews claimed a fight later erupted in the hall. The Ghanaian news service uploaded the video to YouTube and it has been viewed more than 80,000 times. It isn't the first time a lover has tried to upstage the bride. In another similar video revealed in May, a woman shouts during another ceremony, "so this is what you left my house for this morning?" - indicating she has a romantic relationship with the groom . "And the other night?" she exclaims while clapping extremely loudly. Gasps and murmurs can be heard as the groom turns to look into the crowd of guests. A woman in red eventually stands up and appears to walk towards the unseen heckler as another woman can be heard saying: "She's got to go". Shouting and screaming can be heard and one news outlet claimed the ceremony descended into a violent scrap. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwP1HinFfIg http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/cheating-groom-caught-out-secret-9299218?ICID=FB_mirror_main |
