I don't know the job and it's job description but if it pays 68k, it's probably not an indispensable position. Sorry

Nobody is indispensable, nobody.

But all roads lead to the new job, that's for sure.

Have a swell time.
the reason I said I'm indispensable is because I will undergo training for close to a year and I will working with expatriates and they assured me that they could not find anyone in Nigeria with such experience and that they wouldn't not be ready to let go of someone they have invested so much in and that the expatriates r just going to be here for a while to set up the structure after which they will leave and consequently we will take up their positions.

If that 40k was steady, I'll ask you to stay with the 40k.

But it's not, so go but save like crazy.

You only have a job for the six months.
Another reason I think I should go for the new one is that the position I will be fill doesn't really exist much in this part of the world and at some point on the job I may become indispensable

Hello everyone. I finished my NYSC in may this year and in July this Year I landed a part time job with a state polytechnic. The salary is just 40k and it is not regular. As I type this we r being owed two months salary but the job is not so stressful as I go to work once or twice a week, with the way the salary is being paid I can plan properly because u don't have an idea when u r getting the next salary also thing r not done properly in the school everybody's behaviour to work is very discouraging just because it's a government job. Lately, there have been rumours flying around that we will be converted to permanent staff by next year but we r not sure cos there r people in that school that have been working on part time basis for close to 10 years.

Yesterday I got a call from one of the companies I had applied to since may this year and the company is offering me 68k net pay although I don't know what my gross pay will be cos that r yet to send the offer letter with free and completely furnished accommodation, no transportation is involved but the job is a bit challenging based on the discussion I had with the expatriates I will be working with. It's a field work with a lot of challenges like I said but there is a lot to learn as it an opportunity for me to get all the experience I need to become a professional in my field of study. Also the job is fixed time which means it's on contract basis which will be renewed yearly or every six months.

Now the question is should I go for this new job or stay with the government job which I don't know if I will be confirmed soon or not.

Ur advice is greatly needed. Thanks

Alhamdullilah! I give gratitude two Almighty Allah for this immensely great favour he bestowed on me.
I actually started applying for jobs a month before my POP which I did on May 4th and as Allah will have it, one of the places I applied for a lecturing job (my state polytechnic) called me to come for my appointment letter on 20th of july , just 2months and some days after service. Although its a part time lecturing job, I believe its a good place to lunch my career and I also believe the appointment will be made fulltime by the end of the year In Shaa Allah.

U knw I just discovered the lecturing job is not a full time one and the pay is not encouraging at all not even up to 45k but at least I've got something to keep my self busy for the mean time. A lot of people are out there without any.

the income is almost the same but u know I'm just starting my life and I need a regular source of income for sometime which I am not sure the govt job guarantees but if comfortable for me. CareerGovernment Job Or Private Job: Which Should I Go For? by usman3688(op): 10:16am On Jul 19, 2017
Hello nairalanders. I'm a bit at a crossroad as to which job I should pick.
I have an offer in my state polytechnic to work as a lecture but I'm considering the fact that most state jobs don't pay as much and as at when due and we all know the situation in most states now regarding owing of salaries. lecturing is one job I cherish a lot as it gives u time to engage in other things that could make you productive and it also gives u job security.
The other offer I have is from a private company and this offers me an opportunity to actually practice what I studied in the university and gain more practical experience. The company pays on time with some add-on at the end of the month, I have the chance of working with expatriates which would help boost my skill and experience but the bone of contention here is that the company employs on contract basis: it could take up to two years before you are confirmed as a permanent staff which means there is no job security.
Please advice me on which to go for as I'm confused on which to pick.
Thanks and God Bless.

TravelTinapa: Nigeria’s $450 Million White Elephant by usman3688(op): 9:34am On May 17, 2017
With its futuristic film studios, luxury shops and elevated light railway, Tinapa should be a showcase of Nigerian dynamism, a commercial hub for West Africa raking in millions of dollars.

Aerial view of the reception area of Tinapa Resort.

But 10 years after it opened, the resort in southeast Nigeria is a ghost town and has become a symbol of monumental waste.

Its majestic contours and avant-garde domes rise defiantly out of the bush and palm trees. At the entrance, a giant signboard proclaims: “Tinapa back on track!”

But the few visitors who venture inside are quickly disillusioned.

Apart from a few idle employees, not a soul stirs in the endless aisles of shops and warehouses that should have made the capital of Cross River state, Calabar, famous across Nigeria’s south.

“It’s empty there, we have no clients, it’s like a cemetery,” said one shop assistant in Da Viva, which sells the popular brand of wrapper skirts.

“Many have left already,” he added, pointing to shuttered premises.

A huge supermarket still displays clothes, furniture and foreign-made knick-knacks but in virtual darkness: the electricity was cut off some time ago.

Inside, an old man snoozes in the suffocating heat.

Tinapa, with its 80,000 square metres (861,000 square feet) of warehouses and shops, cost $450 million (413 million euros) to build.

But it has become a financial black hole for its backers.

– Economic development –

At the turn of the century, Nigeria was on the point of becoming Africa’s biggest economy and leading oil producer. Newly returned to civilian rule, everything seemed possible.

A handful of businessmen and architects got together and imagined an international centre of commerce and tourism in a free-trade zone.

Nigeria’s biggest banks fell over themselves to finance the project, which was opened in 2007.

“At that time, everyone was excited. Tinapa was going to boost economic development of the whole region and create thousands of jobs,” said Bassey Ndem, who was in charge of the project.

It aimed to attract Nigerian millionaires, who ordinarily jetted off to Dubai or London to go shopping, as well as make Cross River a commercial crossroads on the Atlantic coast.

A plush 242-room hotel with a view over the lagoon and a water park with slides were built to cater for the cream of high society and their families.

Alongside luxury tourism, imported goods would provide for Nigeria and its neighbours such as Cameroon, Chad and Niger, competing with the country’s commercial capital, Lagos.

“Everything was going well at first,” said Ndem. “At the peak, in 2009, we generated $30 million of revenue. But we faced a lot of resistance from the customs.

“They really didn’t want the tax-free zone to work.”

Goods were supposed to be exempt from import duties in the free-trade zone.

But from the beginning, the customs — which has a reputation for rampant corruption — blocked containers destined for Tinapa in the ports, paralysing business.

– Top down, trickle up –

Ndem left in 2012. None of his successors has managed to get Tinapa off the ground.

“There was clearly a lack of political will” to make the project succeed, he said, describing himself as angry and frustrated at a “wasted opportunity”.

For the economist and blogger Nonso Obikili, Tinapa’s downfall was largely because of a lack of existing infrastructure to transport goods: bad roads and an average-sized port.

“It was a wide project conceived with the deep sea port, which was supposed to enable big ships to come to Calabar,” said Obikili.

“It was the responsibility of the federal government but finally it wasn’t done,” he told AFP.

In the end, no big name jeweller or pret-a-porter line wanted to invest in the paradise promised by its promoters and the hotel remains desperately empty.

The cinema studios have likewise been unable to attract Nollywood’s stars, who have largely preferred to stay in Lagos.

In “Looking for Transwonderland: Travels in Nigeria”, the British-Nigerian author Noo Saro-Wiwa castigates the leaders in the country of her birth.

Few of Nigeria’s nearly 190 million inhabitants have benefited from the riches brought by oil; most still live in extreme poverty.

“This top-down approach to boosting Calabar’s economy seemed hollow,” she wrote.

“I’d heard Nigerian politicians’ endless talk about theme parks, tourist resorts, shopping malls and their ‘trickle down’ effects on the economy.

“But there’s no such thing as ‘trickle down’ in Nigeria — money trickles upwards or evaporates on contact with air,” Saro-Wiwa wrote in 2012.

From all you're saying, it's obvious she has a particular deadline to being single, and she sees being married as the next thing to achieve (some ladies are wired that way...if not parental or peer pressure).

So, her questioning your plan for your life was to know when you would be ready to take her to that next level, or if she's even a part of your plan for the future...so, based on all you say, she sizes you up to know if you're worth waiting for, and if you can provide the kind of financial security she needs in a home

Her love for you is conditional, and even if you've done a whole lot for her in the past, what matters is now and the future

Usually, students within the same age bracket currently dating in school marry based on different scenarios:
1. Either you get a job/start a business asap and the pay is good enough to raise a home
2. If she's the trustworthy type that sees potential in you and wouldn't mind being committed to when you'd be ready
3. If you both focus on career goals while dating now and plan to get married later on

Either way, it seems you might lose her to a guy (your mate or someone older) who's an already made man or on his way up

Usually, you hear the talk...date a younger lady (it's not a guarantee, but then you're given time to hustle up before you take the next step or she plays the marriage card)

MY ADVICE:
Communicate about what's necessary:
*get to understand her feelings, emotions, mindset and plan for her life.

*since you both drifted apart, you need to begin again and try to reconnect...cz you just can't continue where you left off and start talking about marriage

*on your plan for the future, get her to explain what she meant by "scattered"...maybe she has a better idea on something she feels you might be doing wrong

*never be pressured into marriage cz you feel she's the best thing that ever happened to you

In the end, only you can decide if you fight for her, or just let her go
thanks , u r appreciated

Hello nairalanders. just to seek your opinion on this issue that has been bothering me for weeks now. I used to date this girl and we grew apart after I got admission in to the university, we never broke up but we just stopped dating. but before we stopped dating I once asked her if there is a chancenof us getting married and her response was always not encouraging; always giving me excuses like we are of the same age and it might not work our and so on. she is presently serving in zamfara and I am serving in Niger and we have been communicating a lot lately.
it happened that we were charting some days back and I she asked me what my plans were after service to which I replied; I have scattered plans, the next thing she asked was if I had her in my plans and I was like what do u mean to which she replied I should forget about it.
After some days I asked her about it again and she wasn't forth coming then I asked her if she was still in love with me and she said she never stopped loving me.
Now the issue is I am not ready for marriage, we r age mates and we r both close to 30, she's some one I still like so much cos we connect very well and the chemistry between us is great. My fear is that if we should get back together she might want to pressure me into marriage, I see her as someone with great potential and of good character.
pls I need ur candid advice on this. Thanks

Apart from sex, the only other thing the entire world loves is soccer. While we admire our stars for their superbly brilliant legs (leg skills, we mean), there are some who take their style and attitude beyond the goal post, too. Well apart from wash-board six-packed abs and totally toned legs; some of these footballers actually do possess some great styles.
So often, a footballer comes along so immaculately presented that it makes up for the sartorial misfires of the wider community of soccer pros. For several years running there have been a number of top class millionaire footballers who not only perform excellently on the field of play for their club sides and national teams, but are well-dressed and stylish.
They also do exceptionally well when it comes to fashion and there’s a range of various outfits that most men can pull off. It’s pretty obvious why men and boys all over the world try to emulate these great footballers in their style of game and fashion! And it’s also quite obvious why they call football “the beautiful game.” Below is a story on the most stylish footballers ever in international football. These guys are very hot.
Thierry Henry :
Henry has and will always be an Arsenal legend and also happens to be the club’s all-time record goal scorer! Apart from this, he’s also featured in GQ UK and can pull-off a suit so well! Although he’s retired from footy, his wardrobe game is still tight AF – something he proved the other day at Didier Drogba’s charity ball at the Dorchester Hotel in London. Not to mention he has the most charming smile! And man he’s got street style as well! He’s bringing back the high school look in New York with a navy and white wool Letterman jacket, jeans and shades!
Claudio Marchisio :
Claudio is genuinely a dapper dude. Claudio has no qualms in dressing up in his best. His sense of Western formals and his ability to carry suits perfectly has made him an eye candy for fashion followers across the globe. The blueeyed star has also shot for several innerwear brands.
We are sure, you’d want to see him on magazine covers soon. A best dressed list can never be complete without an Italian God and here, it’s the Juventus main man Marchisio! With piercing blue eyes and a navy blue suit, Claudio could kill with his looks and perfect stubble. He’s even accessorised his suit with a navy blue scarf! And he’s definitely into formals as you won’t see him without a well-fitted suit jacket.
Neymar Jr.
Neymar is everyone’s favourite and he’s the King of Brazil! And his fashion style doesn’t disappoint either! For the Ballon d’Or 2015 ceremony, he hit the red carpet in an Armani suit with a velvet waistcoat and a glittery blue bow tie. Some might call it queer and hell, he pulled off the look and even had an adorable bowler hat! Otherwise, you’ll always find Neymar in comfy clothes and always a snapback! He even has his own line of snapbacks and he’s got the heartbreakingly cute bad boy look!
Paul Pogba:
When all eyes were on Leo Messi during the Ballon d’Or 2015 ceremony, Paul Pogba turned heads on the red carpet with his velvet, gold embroidered suit with a pair of nerdy glasses! He looked spot on and pulled off the suit with ease! He’s also known for funky hairdos and looks like he just walked out a hip-hop music video with a Givenchy shirt, black basketball shorts and black leggings! His style is the epitome of “thug life”!
Xabi Alonso:
Spaniards always make their way into our hearts and here it’s through style icon and midfield maestro of Bayen Munich- Xabi Alonso. With his manly ginger stubble and cheeky smile, he looks so classy in a well-fitted white collared shirt and blue tie. Also notice how well his watch goes with the outfit and that’s probably why he presented Emidio Tucci’s Black Collection! And he casually pull off and Andy Warhol inspired round neck tie with a picture of tomato soup on it like it’s no big deal, with a pair of tennis shoes and aviators!
Pep Guardiola:
The former Barcelona and current Manchester City coach has had an impeccable taste in fashion! From Barcelona to Munich and lately Manchester, you’ll see Pep pacing the side-lines with a tailored suit and his signature V-neck sweater inside! And even on the roadside, he’ll be in a hoodie and pants, but his knee length trench coat just makes him look so sophisticated!
Mats Hummels:
World Cup 2014 winner, Mats Hummels, is a treat to our eyes with his puppy dog eyes and manly facial hair! Hence it comes as no surprise that he has a partnership with Hugo Boss! He looks absolutely fierce in his Boss suit, it’s like his eyes are piercing through your soul (and it’s not a bad thing). When he’s not suiting up, he’s casually clad in a black on ensemble with a brown leather jacket and black scarf.
Zinedine Zidane:
The third Frenchman on this list, it makes sense as they do know their way around fashion! Cur- r e n t Real Madrid coach a n d legend Zidane is known worldwide for his infamous red card after head-butting Marco Materazzi, but his dressing sense is also making a statement!
You can’t help but admire Zidane’s theatrics on the side-lines in a bold suit! One such look was his blue and white large chequered suit. Apart from this he’s also the brand ambassador for Mango Man and you can’t but admire how he looks striking he looks in winter wear! Be it a woolly turtleneck or a hoodie with jeans, he’s always got fresh fashion!
Cristiano Ronaldo:
Arguably the best footballer in the history of the game, the Portuguese sensation is no less than a style icon. Apart from his deadly looks and superb body, the Real Madrid sensation has an immaculate sense of styling. He stays abreast of the latest trends and is never shy to experiment.
Denims seem to be his favourite and he wears them with tees, shirts and stylish blazers. CR also loves the layering trend and has an army of trendy and stylish jackets. He has a fashion label called CR7 and has also shot extensively for Armani. Fashion is the one place where he has beaten rival Leo Messi.
Lionel Messi:
Although Messi cannot be called a style icon, his eccentric sense of dressing and confidence is worth admiring. The Argentinian great rubs shoulders with Cristiano. Not only with his game but also with his style, although he is totally different. Messi has a love for colours and is never shy to wear them.
His fashion sense is individualistic and that gets him a place in this list. Leo has not been applauded much for his looks off the field as let’s just say we like him best sporting the Argentina or Barcelona jerseys. But nonetheless, he deserves some appreciation for his extreme bold yet unique suit choices! He definitely likes dangerous outfit choice! Moreover, he knows how to cool off in the summer in a pair of denim shorts with a round-neck tee and sunnies!
Samuel Eto’o:
Not only does he know how to own the field, but he knows how to dress fabulously. An on trend fashionisto, Eto’o divulges in his love for other things including fashion and fast cars. His jacket collection especially is to die for.
David Beckham:
Surely the most stylish man and dad in the entire world, Becks owns the hearts of all the women! He was given “The Most Stylish” man of the year award by none other than GQ, and he continues to uphold that title with his style! He can wear anything and still look super-hot! Like beige tailored suit with a light blue collared shirt, without a tie and he still looks absolutely dapper!
I mean, how can he look so classy in a hoodie with a pair of sweatpants and a beanie?! David, in a tank top with his plethora of tattoos and a backward snapback along with club-masters can literally stop your heart and you realize he looks better than half the men and boys in your age group!
He’s always going be a style icon and his fashion can never let you down and all the ladies still sit and wait for their own David Beckham! Beckham is always immaculately dressed, takes a lot of risks and has something which the others in this list don’t, he has actually influenced modern day culture and started mass trends in the same way a pop star might, when he shaves his hair off or grows a beard a few mi l l i on people around the world copy.

Hello everyone. I'm an upcoming entrepreneur and I have this product I'm working on. Although other people have been producing the same product but I plan to make mine different and big. I was able to carry out a test run of the product and I'd say the response has not been bad so far. As you all know one of the major challenge of startups is finance and I'm no exception to that.
I'd like to hear from u guys if I should in form my supervisor about it on not cos he's a very supportive man and he's ready to provide all the finances I'd need to take off full time but my fear is that on the long run if the business becomes successful I hope he would not lay claim to it and would begin to demand some percentage from the proceeds of the business or should I just continue to do my thing gradually and grow as time passes.

ur opinions would be greatly appreciated. thanks to u all
