By Stanley Onyekwere Some Nigerians working with Sunti Golden Sugar Estate Limited, located in Mokwa, a community in Niger state, just few hours away from Abuja, the nation’s capital city have cried out for rescue from forced casualistion and maltreatment in the hands of its high-handed foreign managers. The concerned staff alleged that Nigerian employees of the company have been reduced to slaves, making life unbearable for them, hence their desperate for relief to them. From written petitions addressed to the Chairman, Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc and and Manager, Human Resource, Sunti Golden Sugar Estate Ltd, and made available to newsmen, several complaints have been lodged to appropriate quarters, including the Chairman, Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc, Lagos, under which the Estate is a subsidiary. They disclosed that, in order to continue to constantly intimidate, insult and harass the Nigerian workers, the foreigners at the helms of affairs changed the status of their permanent employment to casual engagement, which is renewable every six months, decrying that the new casualization status has made many of them to loose their employments, as every slightest perceived wrong doing attracts outright sacking. One of the petitions read in part: “You will recall the several episodes of interference in patient management as well as the open confrontation on professionalism of medical team at the clinic by the General Manager’s wife. “As much as possible, we have tried to comply with the needs/requests of the, at least within the belief that these requests are to improve efficiency in our operations and for the general benefits of all patients in the community. “Following the last incident of the morning of January 30th, 2019, in which the wife of the General Manager came to the clinic, assembled all the clinic staff and uttered unprintable words against them. The petition it continued: “Enormous pressure to breach the confidentiality of patient’s records in which case the GM is demanding for every patient’s medical details”, revealing that they swore to “Hippocratic Oath, to protect patients’ medical information.” In another petition, written by the host community and addressed to the Chairman, Flour Mills Nigeria Ltd, Lagos, Mr. Du-Pisani, along with the firm’s community liason officer, simply referred to as Mr. Samuel, has been showing total disrespect to the community leaders. It reads: “We the entire host communities has no any source of income for our livelihood because of the activities the company. “The Company Liason Officer has not been having a good and friendly relationship with our communities as he is always against the welfare and social responsibilities of the company to our communities. “The Chairman Sir, with these types of autocratic leadership adopted by company General Manager has led to termination of so many appointments and resignation of skilled, experienced and qualified personnel. “It is on this note that we the entire host communities of Sunti Golden Sugar Estate Limited demand for Mr. Anio Du-Pisani as General Manager and Mr. Samuel who is Company Liason Officer removed for the peace and progress of the entire community of Sunti Golden Sugar Estate Limited.” https://peoplesdailyng.com/workers-cry-out-over-alleged-forced-casualisation-by-foreigners/ And this too |

This is coming from a friend of mine working there. He says they treat workers like shit. This is just a media propaganda to cover up all their shinanigans. |
[quote author=CokeBar post=88331482]Criminal activities on the rise in Niger state... This lockdown is however necessary. Quite strange that Suleja doesn't have a confirmed case yet considering the proximity to Abuja. Thank God for safety.[/quote How r u sure about that, some pple will norlt come out and tell the authorities now, I'm sure u have heard about the story of the man that died in ilorin. Its only God that can rescue and save us from this deadly virus. I hope and pray it becomes a thing of the past soon. |
Nbote:U r so correct. We have terrible leaders in this country. They r not proactive at all. U that share a common border with Abuja and u knw the situation in Abuja u still went ahead to relax curfew and tell workers to resume work. We r just cursed with terrible leaders in this country. Now they have a case then they will take it seriously. Bunch of nincompoops |

MrBrownJay1:About the money I'm asking, when I told them they never objected or even asked y I want to earn such so I guess they r OK with it or they will just send me their offer and see if I will accept it or not and number two when I told them March they didn't ask my reason for giving them such a long time cos they I currently work somewhere and I'll need time to properly resign. I'm just waiting to hear from them and make my decision. |
CrazyMan:Your comment is really encouraging which shows u r very positive minded person. The location where I think I will be working is either adamawa or nasarawa states any of which I will be OK with so long they pay what I'm asking, anything short of what I'm asking I won't accept seriously cos it's a very demanding/challenging job and also they know the company I currently work for and they r actually in competition with that company so hopefully all things being equal I'll get a call soon. |
Orlaoluwayimika:Thanks for ur comment. Regarding the pay, from the advert is says the pay will be quite attractive and from where I currently work I feel I'm being underpaid something I would have told them if they had asked me or bargained. And regarding the time I gave, I don't want to start work and start taking excuses that's y I gave them that time so I can concentrate fully. I spoke to one of my former bosses on the issue a d he said I shi9not bother about the time I gave them that if I am meant to get the job they will call me. |
I went for an interview last week and in the course of the interview I was asked when I could resume to which I replied March 1 which will make it 6 weeks from the day of the interview. When I got home and was discussing with someone about it he said the time I gave was too far that I should have given say two weeks or 1 month at most now I'm a bit worried about getting called for the job. Also I told them I would like to take double of what I am currently earning when they asked how much I wish to earn and they never bargained nor objected against what I said. It's a dream job that I hope I land cos the pay if they accept is really mouth watering and could be the beginning of a good life for me. And again to the question of if I could work anywhere, I told I could work anywhere in the country. Please guys do u think I have a good chance of landing this job. Your candid opinion is needed and can I call them to confirm the status of the job if I don't get a call from them soon. Thank you guys. |
PatrickOkunima:Nice write up op. I recently went for an interview and I was asked when I could resume to which I replied 1st March which is 6 weeks from the day I did the interview. After I returned home and I was speaking to someone about it the person told me it's too far that I should have given a shorter time and I have been a bit worried over my chances of still getting the job and again when it came to the money aspect I told them I wanted to earn double of what I am currently earning something they never objected against. Also, when I was asked if I could work anywhere in the country I said yes. Pls what's ur view on all these points and what r my chances of landing the job cos it's my dream job and I will be very happy if I can land it. |
HarkymTheOracle:I support u on this. There is no rule to life. Just live your live as it pleases u and don't try to please ppl |
Realtalk20:Invested in a business and lost about half a million, still recovering Sha but I believe it's a learning process and I'll get over it very soon. In Sha Allah. |
Ambi23:guy u r right, no one prays to work with state government forever. And for the person say after 3 yrs they will lay off non indegenes for indegenes; 3 yrs work exprro8no b beans oooo. Even if they lay off u should be in a better position to acquire another cos u now have experience a d perhaps before that time some people would even leave to a better place. My opinion anyway |
tropaz:U hit the nail on the head. I'm presently in that kind of work environment and hopefully I'll leave soon cos I can cope with it. |
Oluvan:I think u should. That's one of the good things about government job as it offers u ample time to develop yourself but you have to study ur environment and the kind of pple u will be working with, this will help u determine how to go about ur masters program |
K08:Yeah |
Blackstone01:Most likely email |
Ramanto:Yeah, interview with the agancy which could translate into you eventually getting the job |
okemzy:From what I was told I think wsme should be expecting posting letter to where they think we will fit in best |
muhyideenabdul:I think u r right. Spoke to someone yesterday and he told me they r sorting and compiling the names of successful candidates and that we should start receiving emails regarding our posting for end of November to early December. |
alexxiswrites:That's very important. |
Ramanto:Me too. I didn't have interest in the recruitment process initially but when I observed that it's actually well organized I can't wait for the next stage cos I see myself getting employed eventually. |
nairalanderfan:Yes what? |
nairalanderfan:I've sent them a mail regarding that. I hope it's done as soon as possible |
nairalanderfan:Can't access the email I registered with. |
