Business › Re: 10 Businesses You Can Do To Earn Atleast 50k Per Month As An Undergraduate by uvalued(m): 4:36am On Jun 23, 2016
Tmonex:
Hello to you from makemoneygeek, I hope you have been following my posts keenly, I have been busy this week getting some small SME managers to feature on this blog. My plan is to feature a very successful man in the pop corn business residing in Uyo and another great man in Oyo state to speak to us on how to start the fish farming business. The interviews should be ready for publishing on this blog around mid Nov. So stay in touch with makemoneygeek if you are interested in those two business.

Meanwhile in this post, I shall be introducing tp you 10 businesses even normal undergraduates can do while still in school. Each of them will require some form of capital but each of this business, if practiced in University ,monotechnics and polytechnics are always very successful and usually bring in high yield income.

So Let us go through this 10 great ways you can be making steady income as an undergraduate with having to depend too much on your parents

PHOTOCOPY/PRINTING

These are two services that go together and is very much demanded for in school areas. In a school of more than 30,000 students and different lecturers in many different locations, you are sure to be successful if you set up in a good location a photocopy and printing shop where you can offer help to those who needs this services. Many students and lecturers ] use printing and photocopy services regularly so be sure of making your sales daily. The major capital required for this business will be the procurement of the materials for the photocopy an printing machines.

POP CORN BUSINESS

I have seen people who are successful in this business and that is why I am adding it to the list. You can start packaging pop corns into sealed nylons while putting your labels into it. From there you can liaise with supermarkets and shops around you to be supplying them your pop corns at cheaper prices. You can make research on how you can add special taste and effects to your pop corn to make people patronize it more for quality.

BULK SMS

I have been a player in this business since my year 2 in the University and I have had no regrets ever since I started this business in my school area. When I started, my target was to get as many churches, fellowships, departments organization and sect to signup under my bulk sms website. I made good money from political campaigns during SUG elections in my school and some other fellowship who uses my website for bulk sms. This business is a very lucrative one and you are sure to make steady income if you go into it as and undergraduate

BLOGGING/ARTICLE

I have talked about setting a blog several times on this website, If you are able to monetize your blog with good contents you will surely get paid good money by google. I know of a top blogger in my school who got his ride via blogging returns even before reaching his 4th year in the University.

MERCHANDISE

Every time, people have events regularly in school areas, they usually request the services of a good cloth designer to make merchandise and jerseys for them . If you go into this business as an undergraduate, you will be making not more less than 50k monthly as a costume manager.
BROWSING DATA Sales

Another nice income generating business to do as an undergraduate is to venture into sales of browsing data for fellow students and lecturers especially. You just need to familiarize your self with as many lecturers who you know uses a good amount of data monthly. If you are a data re seller , you can be supplying data to mostly lecturers and students whom you have made contact with and be making your own cool cash daily.

PHONE REPAIR

If you know how to tackle phone problems both hardware and software. Why not setup your self into this n= business by repair phones for people and fixing little issues you can handle. If you set up this business very well, you can be ,making tangible income from phone repairing business

IMPORT EXPORT/sales

Doing the business of selling imported items is one of the most lucrative method of earning stable income as an undergraduate. You can be shipping cheap and fancy items form china and selling them at prices that will make you reasonable profit

Training/tutorials

You can be organizing tutorials and software training for interested students in your schools and make cool cash from it. Just find a good location and a partner that can join you in training people to have the knowledge of useful software in their respective courses of study.

Graphics and draftman

Doing graphics has been one of the sweetest my that happened to me as an undergraduate , even for a small DP picture for birthdays, I will charge nothing less that 1k for the design. You can learn graphics and venture into offering small services like banner designers, dp pictures and making flyers for small organizations in your school

BARBING SALOONS AND MAKE UP

Many guys whom i know as friends knew how to barb but only few up them st up a shop in school for barbing for people. It is a very lucrative income generating business while in school barbecues you will have so many students patronizing you as a student barber. Imagine you had just 30 people who visit your saloon to cut hairs daily.that is over 5k daily…In a month you will be earning twice what a bank marketer earns in a month,, am I lying? You can calculate it yourself too

I hope you have learnt on or two things from this post.

It is now up to you to decide which one of this above listed businesses to do as an undergraduate and start making stable income for yourself. Gather some capital and making some researches on things needed to start each of this business, find a good location in your school or even in your hostel, start small and expand till you finally grow big.

Happy New Month

ThundrCork:
1.you must have three things to start any venture: idea, opportunity and funds. If you lack any, the journey will be tougher.

2. You must be very skilled at what you do as a starter and you must commit time to your business(working for someone and running a business has failed more times than succeeded). Employees are one of the major killers of businesses everywhere and you must be prepared to play their role once in a while to maintain your standard. Swallow your pride and do the teaching or cut customers hair if it's a salon you own.

3. Diversification is good but make sure you are very knowledgeable in what you are diversifying into. Be sure to get the most recent information about it.

4. If you treat your business like it's the air you breathe, your business will never fail

Final tip:

When you are skilled, in what you do as a starter, you may even recruit a WAEC holder and guide them on what to do. This will save you a lot of salary cost.

Business › Re: 10 Beliefs And Financial Decisions That Keep You Broke by uvalued(m): 4:09am On Jun 23, 2016
Sambayour:
Most people have no clear direction on how to manage money. They buy things they don’t need, mortgage their way through a lot, and fail to believe in their personal ability to liberate themselves from afinancial fall. These negative beliefs and attitude towards money keeps over 70% of the population in every country in the lower ranks of the economy, with a heavy dependence on their various governments.Living paycheque to paycheque and clearly not having a plan on how to manage your finances will leave you broke, month-in month-out.Rather than looking out for quick loans, payday loans, or searching for how to make money online or offline, you should realign your focus and place it on first changing your attitude towards money. When you understand how to manage your current income, reshape your beliefs, and make good financial decisions, your personal net worth would befar from broke.

1). I Don’t Have What It Takes:thk
This is probably the greatest reason many people remain broke or never succeed in life. Before they even try, they negate themselves, and go even lower in their ranks. The belief in one’s self and ability is the first step to making your dreams come true. If you cannot visualize yourself in that status, you’d never draw upa plan to get there.Irrespective of whatever you may have been through in life, a superior belief in one’s self than in anything else is crucial to your overall success. If you want to stop being broke and positively shape up your finances, begin to see yourself where you want to be, and do whatever it would take to get you there.

2). Money Can’t Buy Happiness:

The second a broke person joins the band wagon of people saying money can’t buy happiness, you’d know they’ve probably given up trying, and are trying to console their weak attitude towards solving their money problems. Also avoid listening to this same phrase from the rich. They may have it all, be able to spend on vacations, luxury cars, and may have experienced critical problems money can’t solve, but that doesn’t give them the right to stop you from changing your financial mindset.A wealthy person who tells you money can’t buy happiness can still cry in his/her Mercedes. Where would you cry in if you had the same predicament as them? A public bus?No matter how they place it, facing your problems from a wealthy stance trumps any other situation. If you’re serious about changing your financial status from a broke state, you need to start realising that money can make you happier in some ways.Remember,“money can’t buy happiness, but poverty can’t buy anything!”

3). Choosing To Mortgage Rather Than Pay Cash:
When a person who’s capable of buying out a certainitem chooses to pay installmentaly over a long periodof time, a large financial mistake has just been made.Mortgage-like payments are silent financial killers. They’re constant monthly reminders that you’re not the real owner of what you’re paying for (yet). This doesn’t just put your finances in a fix, but also makes it difficult for you to have some savings or investments, especially when your monthly income is low.Knowing that you could take just a little sum of your money to make monthly payments, makes a mortgage seem stress free, but by the third month and comparing the number of your other financial obligations, you realise you having nothing left to yourself.Another common disadvantage of mortgaging (depending on the financial institution providing it) is,the property or item you acquired could be reclaimedfrom you, or the interest rate could be highly increased if you default on your payments for a period of time. For example, if you’ve being paying the mortgage on your house for the past 12 years, and defaulted heavily on several repayment terms (usually on a non-payment for three months and more), all the payments done through the years would go to waste, and you could be left without both a refund and a house. If you’re serious about owning a property, car, or whatever you wish, buy out if you can. But if you can’t, plan a long term acquisition model that would work better for you, than mortgaging your way through it.

4). Increasing Your Standard Of Living With Every Income Rise:
With every income rise of most people, their standardof living follows suite. These individuals live in the moment with their better statuses and forget that they are always one signature away from losing their jobs. When your income rises, the logical step is to use your additional income to increase your asset base, while you maintain your current lifestyle, or make it alittle bit more modest. If your standard of living keeps rising exponentially with every salary raise or higher income earned, youcould be back to square one after many years of financial ignorance.

5). Trying To Keep Up With Your Rich Friends:
Your colleague drives a new car to work, your neighbour buys the SUV everyone has been talking about, and some of you friends post photos of their luxury vacation to Thailand. The fact they are lookinglavish and having all the expensive fun makes you feel entitled to it. But it shouldn’t.The habits of the world’s most successful people before they got to their status, never involved spending most of their savings on trying to impress people. Instead, their lifestyles never drew any attention to them till their wealth could no longer stay hidden, and began to speak for itself.Never follow the crowd. You can cheer them on their luxury cruises, while you create the experience the crowd pays for. Someday, their hard earned money would be going instead, into your own pockets, and you can live your life however you choose without the fear of a financial breakdown.

6). Buying Brand New Vehicles Instead Of Used:
When you’re still a middle-class or lower-class citizen, buying a brand new car is a total waste of money. There are used cars that are priced far lower, and still look almost as good as the brand new model.People who buy brand new cars mostly put up the argument of not having to spend on repairs and several other issues a used car may encounter, but forget the second they paid for the brand new car, it’s value immediately depreciated.Buying a brand new car is equivalent to throwing out $100 from your window every week for the next few years. Eventually, it’s value becomes worthless.Your best bet as a person trying to change your financial situation is to only purchase good-looking used cars, and drive it till your finances have greatly improved, together with some valuable assets attached to your name. Doing this places part of your financial decisions on a positive route to gettingyou out of the rat-race.

7). Spending Your Future Today:
When you spend the profits your business generatesbefore reinvesting it to multiply itself severally, the financial illiteracy exhibited wouldn’t just keep you broke, but would ensure you don’t own a business eventually.Profits are meant to be reinvested over and over again. Where you reap from your investments at the beginning stages should only be from monthly allocated salaries. If you spend your future today before they have a chance to mature and prove their worth, you’d nevermake it to the fast track.

cool. You Don’t Make And Stick To A Budget:
Budgeting is one of the most disciplined approach to ensuring you never exceed your expenditure mark. It’s like a finance 101 course which you must pass before you move on to the next year. Despite it’s importance, most people don’t stick or keep to a budget.By thinking you don’t need a budget and assuming all your expenses can be controlled without one, your financial status wouldn’t eventually experience a meltdown, but would be coupled with some form of financial hardship.Sticking to a properly planned budget will help you know where your money problems are coming from, and how you can improve to positively affect your finances.

9).You Have No Emergency Fund:
An emergency fund can be termed as a sum accumulated over a period of time through part-savings, only to be used on the rainy days. When you need urgent cash to solve emergency problems and realise you have none or don’t have enough, it simply shows you have no emergency fundin place. The wealthy always have something set aside to save them from a financial disaster. They keep those funds separated, so their financial future and status can be maintained. If you cannot make good financial decisions like cultivating the habit of setting up an emergency fund for your unplanned events, then you may neverbreak out of your financial bracket.

10). You Don’t Pay Yourself First:
This is one of the top reasons many people end up broke or poor. By paying yourself first, you put at least 10% of your income in a separate account to beused for future investments, emergencies, and other purposes. Before you make financial decisions on how to spend your income, first take out a portion of it and place it in a savings account that must remain untouched till a viable business opportunity crops up.Paying yourself first before any form of expenditure is one of the smartest financial decisions you will make as a person.

Except you're not targeting the right audience, then you should have made at least one sale.
Hope your checkout process is easy to understand?
Also, your ad is still new. Just less than a week. Your competitors ad would have been around for a while so therefore, they must have tweaked it to get the right audience & thereby reducing their cost. Facebook ad is more of trial & error when launching it for the first time.
Also install a Facebook pixel on your website in order to track people who visited your website from the Facebook ad. With this, you can setup a new ad to target only them & their look alike audience. Since they visited your website after seeing the ad, 60-70% of them must have been interested in the product. Targeting only them & their look alike will make better sense & will convert more than the first ad
Business › Re: Have You Experienced This With Facebook Ads? by uvalued(m): 3:48am On Jun 23, 2016
Lordtrillion:
It depends on so many factors.
As you said, you just launched your site newly. Most customers are been careful on websites they buy from online & make payments on. Knowing the Nigerian factor of high scamming rate online, its only few people who would take such risk by paying for goods or services on a new & not too popular website.
Also, your price might be higher than that of your competitors.
My little advice for you are
1) Try registering as a merchant & listing the products on any of the Popular Ecommerce website like Konga, Jumia, Dealdey, Kaymu. Your Facebook advert should redirect to any of them for checkout. This is because they are more popular & your prospective customer might have used them before
2) If SSL certificate is not installed on your website, try buying one & installing it. That green address bar & certificate image (e.g. this website is 256 bit SSL secured) which your customers see each time they visit your website creates a little trust in them.
3) If your ad is less than a 5 days old, you can still give it sometime. Most times, Facebook conversion doesn't come immediately. If you're getting enough likes & shares on the ad or sign ups on your website, still give it sometime.

Thanks to author of the thread. I followedthe guide and it worked for me.

My contribution.

Before you perform/pay for name search on the registration portal, you can do a public search of the name you intended to register from the CAC official website.

The public name search is free and will save you the headache of choosing a name already registered.
http://.gov.ng:8080/comsearch/test.php
For physical submission at the state office, you need not print the document from the registration portal after registration of the business name. Reason been, the form is quite different from the ones at thier office and the 250 Naira payment is meant for this same form.

Pay a fee of 250 Naira to Corporate affairs TSA at any bank (I did mine at Skye bank) fill the teller with your approved business name, not personal name. Collect the remitta receipt and proceed to the state office you chose along with other documents the op mentioned.

Tender the 250 Naira remitta receipt at account office and you will be given " Application for Registration of business name" form. The form must be typed not filled by hand (you will need manual typewriter for this). After filling the form, you will need attestation from a court (Stamp and signature of commissioner of oaths) I paid 250 Naira for this at a state high court.

You will need 3 copies of the 10000 receipts. 1 photocopy of the application for registration form in addition to documents metioned above.

Submit and wait for approval. You can always check your approval status from the registration portal.
what do you mean by the bolded thanks
