Business › Re: 7 Strong Reasons You Should Start A Business In Your Twenties. by uvalued(m): 1:17pm On May 20, 2016 |
Abatsam111: At 22 I was working as a staff in a multinational bank, and having the time of my life. Two years later, I quit my job and started my own business. And yes, I was still in my twenties.
I was a young man who had good prospects in the banking industry, but I was willing to throw all that away. Lots of my colleagues in the bank thought I was out of my mind.
I kept on hearing statements like: “It’s a big risk”. “You could fail”. “It is very demanding”. “You will never have time again”. “You might go into debt”. And my favourite: “It is not easy”.
Presently, some of them have lost their jobs due to the recent dwindling price of oil which affected a lot of businesses. Many of them are now willing to start their own businesses, as getting new jobs has not been very easy.
I am grateful that I opted for entrepreneurship when I did. Was it a very easy decision for me? Absolutely not! I just had very strong reasons which pushed me to take that leap.
If you are still in your twenties and you have a business idea, launch out now. Below are 9 strong reasons to start a business in your twenties:
You still have the much needed drive Starting a business is easy; building it into a successful enterprise is the hard part. It requires a lot of enthusiasm and drive.
There are times when the business will demand a whole lot, or all of your time. These are times when you may be so busy that you hardly sleep for some days, and you could break down unless you take these steps. These are days when you may not have enough money, so you are forced to do a lot of things by yourself so no delegation of dutiesfor you. Your drive may be all you have to keep you going on such days.
Since you are still in your twenties, chances are that you still have a lot of that much needed drive. Maximize it by starting a business now that you are still in your twenties.
2. You don’t have a lot to lose if you fail The first business I started folded up a few months later. I was a college student back then and the demands of school were too much for me. I couldn’t just afford to give enough attention to my new business. I was not surprised when it failed.
The business was a telecom airtime voucher selling business that I started with about $120 dollars. When it folded, I quickly shifted all my attention to my studies. I had something else going on for me, and didn’t really have a lot to lose.
3. You can afford to take the risk. If you are still in your early twenties, there are chances that you are not responsible for anybody else except yourself. You are probably not yet married; neither do you have a kid yet. That means that no matter what happens to you, you have just yourself to worry about.
This knowledge was what gave me the courage to quit my banking job and launch my own start-upsuccessfully.
4. There is no age restriction to business success. Young and successful I saw a story recently about how Tucker Hughes was able to build a business and become a millionaire at 22. His outstanding success proves yet again that when it comes to being successful, age is just a number.
5. You are still easily impressionable One of the key factors that determine how successful you will be as an entrepreneur is how much you know with respect to your business. This factor will work to your favor if you start a business in your twenties.
This is because you can easily develop new skills, and learn a lot of things pertaining to your business. Doing this means you will succeed a lot faster than most of your counter parts. 6. You probably spend too much time on the internet. There are a lot of online businesses that you can start by the way. But even if your business is not an online business in a sense, it will definitely need an online presence, at least because your business needs e-commerce to thrive.
A lot of people within your age bracket spend most of their time on the internet. If you do, rather than cut your online presence or social media activity, channel it towards your business.
7. Getting a job will be easier if you decide to switch than if you are older. Everybody must not be an entrepreneur. If you try your hands on starting a business and you find out that you are not cut out for entrepreneurship, then you should return to the labour market. It will be a lot easier for you to get another job if you are still below 30.
Your Turn How old were you when you started your first business? Is there any advantage you feel you had when you were younger? Please share your experience in the comment section.

Business › Re: The 10 Most Innovative Sources For Getting Good Business Ideas by uvalued(m): 11:41am On May 20, 2016 |
importexpert: At some point in your life, you may have considered starting up your own business. If this is the way you have been thinking, then you are definitely onto something. But first, you have to know where to start, right? And to do that, you must know where to look. Outlined below is a list of the 10 best resources for finding good business ideas:
1. Online Job Forums - Many of the work-at-home-mom forum websites give out hundreds of good business ideas. They give information and provide ideas on everything from medical coding to selling cleaning supplies. Most of them also provide links to various websites that provide even more information about the topic you are interested in. Nairaland business section is an important place to go to for business ideas.
2. Classifieds - Never underestimate the power of classified ads. Chances are that if you look hard enough, you'll find a great opportunity. Just be on the lookout for scams and you should do just fine. Online classifieds are also good resources. try to see the kind of things people are selling on the site and develop your ideas from their.
3. Friends and Family - If you have any friends or family who currently work out of their house, they could help you out with some ideas, especially if they are already very familiar with various work from home opportunities.
4. Billboards - Believe it or not, some billboards can actually provide a good bit of information about certain work at home opportunities. Try glancing at them every once in a while, you never know, you might find what you are looking for.
5. Job Fairs - What you may not realize is that job fairs not only focus on hiring employees, but they also provide good business ideas and prospects for entrepreneurs. The next time that there is a job fair where you live, take the opportunity to stop and check it out! You may end up very surprised!
6. Your Own Ideas - Is there something that you have been considering trying, but just haven't put it into action? Some of the most successful business people have thought up their own original ideas and have made a full-time living off of them.
7. The News - Yes, even your local news station talks of good business ideas every so often. I recently discovered a couple of new ways to make money myself, all by watching the news. Remember that television is not only entertaining, but also very informative.
8. Magazines - Have you ever noticed those little ads in fashion and health magazines that tout the perfect business opportunity? Well, I am here to let you know that some of those business opportunities are really for real. Don't just look over them, look into them.
9. Your Local Unemployment Office - Even though you may not be interested in working for someone else, the point is that you are looking for good business ideas, and what better place to find them than in a place that is all about work? around wuse2 in abuja i know 2 of such very popular notice boards where different jobs are placed. if you go in search of business ideas you will get a handful in no time
10. Look at What You Currently Do - If you are currently a business owner, think in terms of branching out. For example, if all you currently do is sell candles, think about what else you can sell that is similar to that so you can become even more successful.
So you see, good business ideas are literally everywhere. Obviously, the best ideas begin with you. Just keep in mind that you must maintain a positive attitude, and you will in no doubt, go very far and excel above and beyond what you had originally planned. |

derecho: In 1892 at Stanford University, an 18-year-old student was struggling to pay his fees. He was an orphan, and not knowing where to turn for money, he came up with a bright idea. He and a friend decided to host a musical concert on campus to raise money for their education.
They reached out to the great pianist Ignacy J. Paderewski. His manager demanded a guaranteed fee of $2000 for the piano recital. A deal was struck and the boys began to work to make the concert a success. The big day arrived. But unfortunately, they had not managed to sell enough tickets. The total collection was only $1600. Disappointed, they went to Paderewski and explained their plight. They gave him the entire $1600, plus a cheque for the balance $400. They promised to honour the cheque at the soonest possible.
“No,” said Paderewski. “This is not acceptable.” He tore up the cheque, returned the $1600 and told the two boys: “Here’s the $1600. Please deduct whatever expenses you have incurred. Keep the money you need for your fees. And just give me whatever is left”. The boys were surprised, and thanked him profusely. It was a small act of kindness. But it clearly marked out Paderewski as a great human being. Why should he help two people he did not even know? We all come across situations like these in our lives. And most of us only think “If I help them, what would happen to me?” The truly great people think, “If I don’t help them, what will happen to them?” They don’t do it expecting something in return. They do it because they feel it’s the right thing to do.
Paderewski later went on to become the Prime Minister of Poland. He was a great leader, but unfortunately when the World War began, Poland was ravaged. There were more than 1.5 million people starving in his country, and no money to feed them. Paderewski did not know where to turn for help. He reached out to the US Food and Relief Administration for help.He heard there was a man called Herbert Hoover — who later went on to become the US President. Hoover agreed to help and quickly shipped tons of food grains to feed the starving Polish people.A calamity was averted. Paderewski was relieved.
He decided to go across to meet Hoover and personally thank him. When Paderewski began to thank Hoover for his noble gesture, Hoover quickly interjected and said, “You shouldn’t be thanking me Mr. Prime Minister. You may not remember this, but several years ago, you helped two young students go through college. I was one of them.”
The world is a wonderful place. What goes around comes around. Please help others to the best of your ability. In the long run you may be helping yourself. God never forgets anyone who sows a good seed in other people, never.
Nothing in nature lives for itself. Rivers don't drink their own water. Trees don't eat their own fruit. Sun doesn't give heat for itself. Flowers don't spread fragrance for themselves. Living for others is the rule of nature. And therein lies the secret of living.
If you find this useful please pass it on. amen |

Government intents to introduce N350 billion into the economy each quarter through investment in infrastructure. It means there'll be road construction, railways and other capital projects. The construction worker will get a job. He will buy more food, beer, buy meat, pay house rent. He will be able to dash you something from his income. No matter what he spends on, the beneficiaries will have more money to buy other things, including the garri seller, the beer seller, the prostitute, etc. Spending on electricity means that the artisan; welder, barber, hairdresser will spend less on petrol and have more money to spend on other things. That your friend who who would normally not bring out food in your presence will be more generous. What I suggest is that you read the 33 point economic policy direction earlier revealed by the government as well as the 34 priority focus projects recently announced through the Finance Minister; you'll find where to key-in and benefit from. Phones › Android Phone Lost! What You Should Do NOW! by uvalued(op): 2:50pm On May 07, 2016 |
Your Android Phone is Lost? Here’s What You Should Do
I lost my Android phone to a thief last year. I lost not only the device but a lot of the important data I had stored in it, which caused me a lot of problems. But through it all, I also got to learn many important things about what to do once I have lost my phone and how to prevent or minimize the possibility of losing any device I may own in the future.
This post will cover two parts A & B.
(A)The first is what you should do immediately after discovering that your device is missing or stolen. The steps will include ways to find your device, and to safeguard any vulnerable data that is contained in that device. Then, we will move on to
(B)preventive measures you can adopt (in the future, and now) to safeguard your device.
Let’s check it out. A. Help, I’ve Lost My Phone!
There are four things you can do immediately after finding out that your Android device is nowhere to be found:
1.Track your Android 2. Secure your Accounts 3. Block SIM Card 4. Unlink your accounts on Android
1. Track Your Android
There is a free and easy way to locate your Android device, and that is by using the Android Device Manager. You don’t need to have this installed in your phone first for it to work. Just go to the page and sign in with the Google account that you used to sign in to your Android device.
The last location of your device will be shown to you down to an accuracy of about 20 meters. You will also get how far the device is from you, and its last online time.
On this page you can also lock the device, make it ring (to make it easier for you to locate it if it is nearby) or as a last resort, erase the data you have on the device to prevent identity theft or loss of any important info.
2. Secure Your Accounts
You probably have your emails, social networks, messaging groups all on your (lost) device. It is imperative that you secure all our accounts by logging in via another device and changing their passwords. This includes your main Google account.
By changing your main Google password, any unauthorized person handling your phone will not receive access to your personal accounts, contacts, apps and other info.
Know that changing your Google password will not affect your efforts to locate your device via Android Device Manager (in Step 1). You can still track your Android, lock or remotely erase your phone data after a password change.
3. Block Your SIM Card
It is recommended that you block your SIM card not only to prevent the misuse of your call privileges, but also because messaging apps like Whatsapp and Line use your phone number to verify your account.
If you signed up for two-step verification for access to accounts like your email, you will need to regain ownership of your phone number. Your telco provider will assist you in getting your number back, on a new SIM card, after blocking the card that is in your lost phone.
4. Unlink Your Accounts on Android
This is less urgent but a step you must do all the same. Unlink your accounts from your lost device in order to stop the sync process on your Android.
For example, if you use Dropbox on your Android, unlink this device from your account via the website by going to the account’s security page, then finding your device on the list and clicking the ‘x‘ button. You will have to do this for all the services that you have linked to your device, one by one.
B. How To keep Your Device Safe
If your device is now a lost cause, and you are looking for a replacement device, it’s time to arm yourself with cautionary measures that can help reduce the risk of losing your new phone.
1. Always Enable Tracking Location
For tracking apps like Android Device Manager to work, your device has to have its location info turned on. Android Device Manager will report the most recent position of your mobile phone, when it was last online. And by the way…
2. Always Enable Your Mobile Internet Data
Not only do you need your location info turned on, your phone has to be connected to the Internet for you to be able to locate it with a tracking app. If you have the habit of latching on to WiFi connection at home or the office, do keep your mobile data on whenever you leave to meet a client or a friend.
This may affect your battery life a bit but it’s worth keeping your mobile data on just in case you need to locate your phone, because without the mobile data on, your phone is as good as gone.
3. Use A Lock Screen
To prevent unauthorized use of your phone, you should activate your lock screen. There are several types of Android lock screen with different security levels. The Pattern lock screen is the lowest level, then comes the camera lock, PIN lock, and finally the password lock.
You can then adjust how long you want your device to wait before asking for you to unlock the screen. If you are on Android 5.0 (Lolipop), there is a feature called on-body detection, which allows you to keep your phone unlocked while you’re carrying it, then automatically locks it when you set the phone down.
4. Disable the Physical Power Button
One of the first thing someone who steals any device will do is to turn off the phone to prevent the owner from locating the phone by calls or tracking apps. You can stop them from doing this to your phone by disabling the physical Power button altogether.
To do this, you need to use Xposed Framework (download here). Once installed, go to the download tab to install a module called GrafityBox (search for it to find it faster). There are several versions available, get the one that is right for your Android version. Go to the versions tab and tap download button on the version you want. To enable this module, restart your phone.
In the GrafityBox app, go to Power Tweaks, then enable the option Disable power menu on lock screen. Anyone who wants to turn off your phone will have to get past your lock screen first.
5. Use Android Phones with Non-Removable Batteries
This one is a tie-in to Tip 4 (above) since once the thief cannot switch off your phone, the next best thing is to remove the battery on your Android. A couple of phones that has non-removable batteries include the Xiaomi Mi4i and Moto G.
At this point, the only way your phone can be shut down is if the battery dies. But tip 4 and 5 still gives you plenty of time to remotely locate your phone to take further action.
6. Backup your Data
For many people who have lost their phones, the biggest loss they faced was the loss of data such as work schedules, important meetings, project deadlines, fitness progress, photos, etc. Rather than copy out these data time and time again to your PC or some other storage device, it is probably easier to backup the data via cloud storage.
With your data all safely tucked away in the cloud (if you need highly secure storage for company secrets, follow this link), you won’t have to worry about the loss of your important documents and keepsakes everytime you lose your device.
Some vendors Android also provide free Cloud storage facilities, such as Asus with its WebStorage feature and Xiaomi with Mi Cloud.
Conclusion No matter how careful we are with our devices, sometimes out of pure luck, we might lose or leave behind our phone and cannot successfully retrieve it.
In my case, I tried calling my phone but it has been switched off. So I logged into Android Device Manager via another phone, and delivered instructions to delete all my data remotely the moment the phone gets switched on and connected to the Internet. The only thing I could do was to cut my losses and be more careful with my next device, and of course put in all these preventive measures to secure my next device from theft. http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/lost-android-phone-what-to-do/ |

Career › Re: Now That You Have Gotten The Job. by uvalued(m): 9:16am On May 07, 2016 |
ademega: There are millions of unemployed youths in Nigeria, and another set of millions that are under employed. So, when you get a job with a reasonable pay my brother na Godwin. It’s a miracle in this country. Only very few ones are the lucky ones the reason why testimonies of how people get job in the church becomes a very rear occurrence.
I knew a guy that got a job. He started misbehaving immediately he resumed. At the peak of his misbehaviour he was found with the key of the vault in the bursary department of his company. He was sacked immediately despite the fact he was well connected to the boss of the company. Some months later I saw him in another town, he was looking like a mad man. The worst of being unemployed is to be employed and lose that job.
Another was a guy that went for his IT in a bank and later he was retained. He started leaving lager than what he was earning. This led him to be involved in a bank fraud which later led to his sack. Right now he is regretting his actions.
So, when you get a job, consider the following and other things as you proceed in the course of your carrier.
1. Don’t forget your God It’s amazing how we become less religious after getting a job. Before some people got this job, they were always in church, working in his vine yard. Some turned mosque into their house. Let them get the job, you will hardly find them in church on Sundays let alone week days or vigil or Jumat service. It’s said, something that is good needs prayer, the same way our expectations. Don’t forget your God, first thing most.
2. Be grateful always When you have this mind of gratitude in your heart about what God has done for you as per giving you a job, you are on your way to getting better things. Your gratitude is not only to God but to men that facilitate the job in one way or the other. Your parents, siblings etc. some people will always complain, comparing themselves with friends or relatives working in a better place or earing a better salary. This may not help your situation in anyway. Always thank God.
3. Know your company Familiarize yourself with the condition of service of your new company. Master the organogram and the channel of communications. Ignorance it’s not an excuse. Know the company; know something about your boss, about other co-workers. Don’t be too big or afraid to ask questions. Master your work schedule.
4. Give your best always Be punctual, dress smartly and neatly, be polite and honest; be dedicated; give total loyalty to your boss. Leave pride out of your life. Work on your weak points. One thing we fail to know is that, people are actually watching us .and the fact is, they know what we are doing. What happens in most cases is this, when decisions are being taking on our job; by the management either positive or negative we are not always present. What will speak for us it’s the record of our past work. In my place of work, I use my personal resources sometimes to get result on a particular task . My boss knows me, I never complain. What they always see is result, and this has helped me a lot.
5. Think of others When I got my job, each time I always remember my friends and family members that we were in the struggle before. I always imagine what they might be passing through. It actually helped me to secure job for two of my friends. When I got my job, I discovered there was a challenge in that environment. Immediately I called a friend that I knew could fit in, he looked for money and started his business in the premises after I helped with the process of starting a business. He started this business the same month I got there. The fact is this; there is nothing I have acquired so far that he has not gotten. In fact, sometimes he helped me out with cash when salary is delayed. Some months later, I thought of another business around, I called another family friend, who his family members will not stop thanking me up till now. Right now I am thinking of how to still help somebody. These are my greatest joy in my place of work.
6. Be kind – Similar to the above is, be kind to people at your work place, at home everywhere. If you are dealing with the public try as much as possible to be kind in a legal way. It will go a long way in giving you joy on daily bases and you earn respect from everybody. Some people are kind to people because of what they are expecting from them at the end of the day. The fact is, people are naturally ungrateful, if they get what they want from you, you don’t see them again until they are in need of another help. So, when helping people out don’t expect anything from them. Most times, some give you something as bait. Be careful. 7. Think of saving Don’t eat with your two hands. Save and spend the rest. If you take your full salary home every month and spend, it won’t be enough. If you divide it to half and you manage it, you will still achieve alot with it. I joined cooperative society the very month I got my job. Latter when I discovered I was doing a lot of father xmas, I increased my savings. When I discovered I was even misbehaving in my spendings I opened a savings account with a bank that I know is very far from my environment. I made sure I didn’t subscribe to ATM to avoid temptations so, immediately I received alert of my salary, I transfer first to that account before doing justice to the rest. You won’t imagine the project I did with that money after two years. Be financially discipline.
8. Think of marriage – When you are young and handsome, even if you are ugly, in as much ladies are aware that you get regular source of money girls will follow you like bees. There is always this big temptation to start flocking around girls or vis a vis . If care is not taking, you may be spending your monthly salary on different girls. It won’t be long you are finish. Not only that, guys will always expect you to go clubbing every weekend. Thinking and working towards marriage will help you a lot. It will make you think like a responsible man .There is need to add this , if you are not careful enough and you get trapped and marry a lady that love you because of your money ,you are seriously finished . if also , you marry ,a lady that doesn’t share in your dream , plans and doesn’t know how to manage with you ,I am sorry for you .
9. Enjoy yourself Take time out, enjoy yourself. Go spend weekends with friends and relatives at least ones in a while. Go swimming, visit amusement park with your loved ones. You need it seriously. Some people will work and even dash their company their annual leave. If you die today, your colleagues at work will fight for your post. So, take time out and enjoy yourself when you can.
10. Plan to get a life Plan on how to get a life outside your job. Think of investment, car, and house etc . How to start your own business inclusive. How to acquire more certificate and trainings. Think big. Let your present place of work be a stepping stone. Let it be the spring board to your greatness and personal development.
11. Think of retirement Think of retirement right from the very first day. A day spent at work is minus the total number of days in service. Think of life after retirement. Don’t think of depending on your children after retirement.
