I think Nigeria's current problem is the fact that, there is no unifying figure that everyone can rally around...
actually , it is part of the challenges. That is why the country is clamouring for restructuring. So that the old regional system can be practiced . If that be , the philosophy of Awolowo in south west can be implemented . The free education , emphasis on cash crop product etc which has been the benchmark of development in Yoruba region . Each region want to be self autonomous. The north may continue with their Islamic system.

How are you secretly admired? There's no secret South Africa is the most developed nationin Africa and most Nigerians would rather live there then in Nigeria but our economy is the largest in Africa and South Africa's is the second largest so it's a necessary metric to measure is it not?
no , Egypt is the second largest.even after rebasing South Africa economy , she still failed to Cash up .

How was Awolowo only a hero un his region when he got Nigeria it's first constitutiion, made the currency for Nigeria and was a main voice in Nigeria's independence?
He wasn't Nigeria first man anyway , it was even the northerner who never want Nigeria to be independent. In the name of tafawa balewa and in terms of national contribution, anthony enahoro has done what Awolowo was just doing way back . He first moved the motion for Nigeria independence. And again Awolowo was more popular in south west governance than the national helm.

I said Ransome Kuti not Fela Kuti his mother is ransome kuti she is the hero i'm talking about she thought hard for women's right and even harder against colonialism and imperialism
I even try by mentioning fela, fela is more popular than his mother thru his music as a political language.

Azkiwe fought hard for independence and even created an ideology to save Nigeria post independence called Zikism
Azikwe has no weight in comparable to Awolowo in south or balewa in the north. He is only popular in the east . Infact the latter biafra war leader ""ojukwu"" is more popular than him

And I never said Nigeria only had one hero can a nation not have millions of heroes?
simple, Nigeria does not have a central hero. Nigeria can only be proud of patriotic citizens or vilien in the name of sanni abacha. Nigeria biggest bad boy.

He was a hero and Nigeria has many heroes from Awolowo to Zik to Okpara to Wachuku to Ransome Kuti to say Nigeriia doesn't have heroes or heroines is foolish he was a lot more then a patriot he fought hard for Nigeria's independence or is pushing for independence and increasing consciousness among youths of Nigeria not a heroic thing?
Nigeria does not have a central hero or heroine, the guys you mentioned up there are only limited in their region. Awolowo is much more recognized in south west than the eastern and northern part of Nigeria , kuti hero was tested when he contested for president seat , he failed absmally. Zik does not have much weight in south and northern part of Nigeria.

in most countries of the world, there are names that stand out and are acknowledged as heroes by all, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, region or whatever. Nigeria does not have one . Not even wole soyinka or chinua Achebe will qualify.

Azikiwe wasn't eveen invovled in the fight for Biafra and had nothing to do with witchdoctors and Azikiwe met with and was friends with allm those people you mentioned he was a great man who led the fight for the independence of Nigeria and other African nations and helped in the fight for Nelson Mandela's execution to turn into imprisonment and on top of that his ideology literally influenced Mboya if you ever bothered to read you'd understand this and why do you think he was called Zik of Africa and not Zik of Biafra as you continue to foolishly claim in any case this argument is senseless they're both great men who fought hard for their people and for Africa and to say one doesn't compare to the other is outright foolish
Azikiwe is just a patriotic Nigerian, not a hero. Nigeria does not have a hero or heroine figure.

COMESA has how many countries - Start from Egypt all down to the border of South Africa -

Kenya is currently the largest producer of pharmaceutical products in the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) region, supplying about 50% of the regions’ market.

If you go to most countries in COMESA - you will find kenya made drugs in almost every hospital.

GHANA - please compare yourself with Uganda.

Kenya plays with Egypt, South Africa and maybe Nigeria in almost every sector.
Your total income on pharmaceutical product spells it out. You are a small rat .

Apart from the more efficient drugs chain we have in Ghana , we also have more bigger manufacturing hub which is above what kenya can do .

We import petrol and related oil product - until we get Turkana Oil to production - we will continue.
We import medicine - we have very good medicine manufacturing for generics - outside South Africa and Egypt.
We import lots of palm/cooking oil - this is a problem and we need to grow sunflower to replace palm oil - but we re-export a lot of this regionally
We import lots of cars - this will continue for quite a while
We imports lots of machinery and capital goods - this will continue.

We do not import a lot of finished manufactured goods - we actually export lots of such goods regional - and outside - leading AGOA in apparel.

If you go to any supermarket in kenya - nearly everything on the shelf is made in kenya.
Ghana pharmaceutical industry isn't kenya mate .

You're talking too much yet what we're discussing is just on your finger tips. Just say we've 15 chartered universities and ashame the devil. In Kenya, we have 30. That is nearly double that of Ghana.

Your point about satellite universities does not hold water. Kindly expound your argument on affiliation.
mathematically with the use of average, Ghana has more universities than kenya.

"It does not matter where the battle erupts, be it in Africa, Asia or Latin America, the master-mind and master-hand at work are the same. The oppressed and exploited people are striving for their freedom against exploitation and suppression. Ghana must not, Ghana cannot be neutral in the struggle of the oppressed against the oppressor.”

by average , Ghana has more university than kenya . If we are to go by absolute number , Kenya may have more . Ghana is having close 100 universities including the private one .

A university built by kwame nkrumah, UCC was just rated above UN Kenya and it was adjuged to be among the best top four university in africa by THE.

This is a university that shares border with atlantic ocean, I wonder how your mushroom uni can come close . The only university with such a view in africa

Are you aware some people are pushing for a *City Charter* for East Legon? They want A.M.A to make East Legon a separate city to fastruck development in that enclave .
city charter is a system used in developed world . China , Hongkong and some city of america has city charter. So many rich men are in east legon, they literally can do anything own their own to fixed their neighbourhood without government support.

Look at tressaco, most of the individual there are once living in east legon.

It clearly shows VAT are collected in Rivers, but not Borno and most other northern states. I have been to Adamawa, Yobe, Kebbi, Taraba, Bauchi and host of other northern states.

Lol....Dubai has no oil left, only 2% of its GDP is based on oil. Everything else is trade, trade in tourism, trade on finance, trade on entertainment and nowadays trade on real estate and health care.

I don't know where your source come from?

You're incorrigible.
Why would you want to sell Cocoa to Ivory coast.
You need to collaborate and force the EUs to a wall.
But there are many things you can trade btw yourself.
There are many things East of Ghana can trade with West of Ghana.
Many things North of Ghana can trade with South of Ghana.
Outside Ghana - within Ecowas - you can have thriving trade.
Then you move to AFCTA.
Then the rest of the world.
is it you don't get my explanation or you are just arguing for the fun of it.

I understand the importance of partnership for a weak nation hence the welcoming of the development of AFCTA. The reasons I so much appreciate it.

The only way to force the world to its knees is the same way they have forced africa to its knees. Partnership. For you to get a product of africa to europe, the product must meet European standard.

My contribution to this topic has been based on demand , competition/ comparative advantage and partnership. That is all.

You keep repeating Dubai - the desert outpost - like it's any different from Qatar or Saudis or any of those rich nations.
Those are just oil rich nations trying to divest - remove Oil and they die.
There is a lot of difference regional or sub-continentally for trade to thrive.
We can import cocoa from Ghana - and you can import Tea from kenya.
Now you import Tea from England - and we import Chocolate from Swiss.
Both do not grow any cocoa or tea...the processing required for tea and cocoa is minimal..it mostly packaging.
There is nothing high-tech...we should only import machinery and high tech from them..not tea or chocolate.
Obviously there is scope for international trade - generally Africa should be doing 50-50 intra-africa and external
But most countries do less than 10 percent
Intra-africa trade is non-existent except for few countries like Kenya.

Look at Oil - it goes to India - and come to Kenya and Africa - after processing. And it comes when prices has trippled.
no charlie, dubai is the world business hub, the government there is pro business and therefore create a flow trade for commercial industry to strive side by side and yes, the oil money was used to create the infrastructure for trade. More than half of the gaint conglomerate of the world operate there.

There aren't as conservative to oil like qatar. She is the trading hub of the world.

And to the rest of your question. I have answered it already. Business only thrives based on demand . Even if you have the ability to supply, there must be demand.

It is unproductive to have ivory coast Cocoa in Ghana unless there is a demand for it.

Hilarious posts.
Afcta is about intra-africa trade.
Kenya is good example of a country to emulate; it use to do 50:50; intra africa and external trade
The best trade is trade btw you and your neighborhood.
Countries that developed normally trades within themselves.
That is why regions seem to all developed at the same time.
It's boats floating with ships around them...drifting.
EU develop all at once - South Asians the same - and name them.
It very difficult to develop alone in midst of chaos.
If you focus on international trade - then transport cost alone will kill you.
If you focus on trading with Togo or Ivory coast - then you'll be very competitive.
Africa must trade within itself
And that it can only do by producing goods and services that satisfy local, regional, national, sub-continental, continental and finally international markets.
Even if entire world allowed Africa duty free zero tarrif market to rest of the world.
What will you sell?
what is United Arab selling?

First off, you have ignored economics, when constructing this question.

Nations interact or trade with each other based on economic comparative advantages . You cannot sell oranges nor apples to your neighbors that have it double your quantity. It is like Ghana selling oil to Nigeria or Nigeria selling cocoa to Ghana or is it coconut.

I hate repeating myself, the other statement you made here are hiding in my write up. afcta might be the game changer. But it need to be well planned and prudent .

Who has stopped Africa from trading.
20yrs ago - President Bush signed - The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) - a trade act that allowed Africa countries duty free entry to US for nearly 2,500 types of goods.
Why hasn't Africa taken advantage of it?
It's inability to produce anything - in fact outside Oil - Kenya leads in AGOA.

AGOA provides eligible sub-Saharan African countries with duty-free access to the U.S. market for over 1,800 products, in addition to the more than 5,000 products that are eligible for duty-free access under the Generalized System of Preferences program. ...
it good you have stop repeating the mantra ( industrialization) that can be google on popularised internet as the economic changer . It is trade that does it better not necessarily industrialization.

Africa’s trade flows have very little to do with European and american rule. It is a question of competition and demand. Who is demanding for african goods and who are we competing with . How many country really want it . For example , how much of kenya tea does america/ Germany consume . We need revamping in our trade industry anyway. Hope you know we are competing with China in European market. China is producing almost the same as us( including raw material). Can we compete china for example or india?

China is leapfroging on this because it is a big nation united as one . Maybe when afcta fully come on board, we might see a game changer. Or what negotiation will a weak nation like Ghana have with big nation like USA on trade that will amount to Ghana Gain. A small Ghana will always be at the backward end while a big USA will have the upper hand .A united africa front can solve the issue . We are over 1. 4 billion . That is threat to even china if we are ready to unite .

But again, how many European country are ready to buy our goods.

I hear ruwanda has a phone industry, as she try selling it to the usa ?

Before you trade; you must produce;
Please understand things; Before tie yourself into a knot.
Now how do your produce?
You can use your own hand or machines (Industrialization)
You cannot go to market places - without anything to sell.
Africa must produce - good and services - for internal trade and external trade.
You must produce quality goods cheaply - so you can compete in free market economy.
Mauritius is service-oriented economy - because it's a small island - although they do a lot of sugar production.
Ghana has to produce - beyond primary goods (cocoa) - they need to get into agro-processing - and finally into manufacturing.
They need to go into low hanging fruits - labor intensive manufacturing initially - like textile and apparel manufacturing
Before they acquire capital to import machinery to get into proper manufacturing
Finally they need to build their own machines - R&grin - that final stage of manufacturing - manufacturing your own machines.
shut up , I just gave you example of a nation who does not produce nearly anything spectacular but she is prosperous. DUBAI.

A well industrialized Nairobi without trade will amount to economic bullshit. But imagine a Nairobi with stores and chains of warehouse where everything can be practically purchased . That is economic breakthrough. It is trade in Money, goods and services that translate to wealth not actually industrialization.

We will produce alongside trade. Industry without trading is practically another Burundi.
.
Uk is the biggest financial trading center now , gradually shifting away from industrialization. China understand both business.

Even in the era of industrialization, the trading Nation are the richest .
