jonraid2:The idiot is weak minded. he is afraid of anything anti Nigeria. see it as personal attack rather than critique. read is rebutta( faulty thinking)clearly, you will study he is doing this out of pains. |
theenchanter:I will not stop educating you. you slow-poke and weak minded element. believing is an act of ignorance knowing is an act of knolwedge .i know you moderate this thread. I don't believe so idiot. |
theenchanter:oga, it isn't just by web presence, it is analysis based on links, it takes the details of the so-called uni into account, its activities and outputs and their relevance and impact. take note of that. THE and QS can be biased because biographies don't some times favour science research institute and most especially institute with diffrent language of instruction apart from English. a good reason Senegal and cote devoire uni are mostly not included. in this digital age, web presence analysis is the best tool to ascertain the full credibility and quality of a university. because the"" Web is key for the future of all university missions,"" as it is already the most important scholarly communication tool now"". And there's no reputable ranking body that does its ranking for d purpose of making profit. THE is a profit based ranking. take note of that. i told u ur screenshot is pointless, not because Legon doesn't appear but because u.i is above it in that same ranking.[/quote]You did a poor job don't you? I gave you a 2018 research based screen shoot . only you knows what you looking for. Anyway that is the screenshot below showing university of ibadan is not feature in 2018. this is the link to how you can search for it. just type the year and location in the fitter box. http://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university-rankings/2012
|
theenchanter:Your issues is with the cons and that is fine, have you ever try to investigate the other so called ranking methodology and how it is flawable? Anyway, your rebuttal doesn't fit.Webometrics uses link analysis . In the first case, citation paper only counts formal recognition between peers, while links not only includes bibliographic citations but also third parties making it more involving with university activities. And a good warning, Any ranking organisation meant for profit is highly subjected to bias(No matter the kind of ranking method used). webometric is simply free base ranking. And lastly, the screenshot indicate the presence of UG in the ranking and it's position. I expect you to use the same to search for any reputable uni in Nigeria if you will find one. |
theenchanter:Every ranking institution with their own methodology. Webometric uses online presence as her own yardstick therefore pulling more than 20, thousand unis. QS restricted her research to only 1000 while using peer review base. that of THE is restricted to 1250 or so using cited academic publish paper. All this are suitable methodology that has their own pros and cons. saying one is not academic enough is a complete hogwash. . Anyway this is Qs ranking 2018. no westsrn African uni feature apart from legon
|
theenchanter:Not all country from sub Saharan fall into such category. Mauritania is a typical example. |
theenchanter:You just cited what webometric takes into account for ranking . saying such is not academic is an ignorance. The presence of a uni on web page today can be categorized academic. the digital presence shows popularity of such uni both by local and foreing. Things cincsider here are Academic Opinion, Employer Opinion, Citations per paper . etc. it is ignorance to call this basic unacademic. Qs ranking of 2018 is registered on various web page online. it been stress finding out on QS website. but you can do the findings checking from legon web page.. |
samorobo:Hello, THE is simply not the only ranking organization out there. it depends on the kind of ranks that you do prefer. and most importantly, the value of such a school which is certainly determine by student from such an institute . |
theenchanter:Then if you argue about location , the definition is also wrong. if location is the purpose of labelling an area or location of africa a sub Saharan. then such logic is defeated citing example of country that do not geographically fall into such category . it is more of race rather than class anyway. the examples have shown. |
theenchanter:lol..... check on the webpage....
|
theenchanter:yes just like saying sub class, sub human , sub race ..... etc.... |
samorobo:Then by Qs standard . only south africa and Egypt are deem fit to represent africa. |
theenchanter:2019 and 2020 never feature west and east Africa. the report you should check is based on the date I gave you. 2018 and 2016. QS ranking is an American based ranking institute as THE is based in UK. Americans are more likely to trust QS becuse it is from US. their methodology is simply based on quality and research cited paper. webometric that uses online web presence and cited paper recently out legon ahead of any uni in west africa. and two other Ghanaian uni are well ranked ahead of any Nigeria uni apart from UI. |
theenchanter:I mean QS. and again no west Africa also feature in 2018 ranking apart from legon. |
theenchanter:Geographical, the word don't event represent africa very well, take for instance , Djibouti by UNO is not a sub Saharan African but Eritrea a nearby country is by UNO clarification. world bank correct that abnormalities. even if we go further to question the rigours flawed geographical location of sub Saharan africa , Mauritania should be out. but it is well feature and recognised both by world bank and UNO as sub Saharan. grammatically, it is wrong, geographically, it is also wrong. A good reason Africa union refuses to use this stereotype word. |
theenchanter:what are you saying chatter? no Nigeria university ever feature in Qs ranking of 2016. in fact no western African uni except Legon. UI has always remain behind legon for more than a decade. |
Amujale:A flawless submission i must say. eurocentric contribution of diminishing what africa really stand for. it a pity we all have learn this bad habit. but thankfully , the African union doesn't use this downgrading word in their engagement. I highly accept your view and learn toward this correction next time. big up bro. |
the largest westafrica greenhouse farm born in Ghana......
|
samorobo:You see the article you quoted says the joint exercise took place in kofi annah peace keeping institute. while that of the trainning took place at jungle welfare trainnng institute ( the only institute for that in west africa) . you should be able to separate the obvious mistake you keep committing. And regards to the 20 million buying of security space. it is another misconception from you. America wanted to expand his millitary mission in Ghana( the money is for buying of equipment and setting up in Ghana, not giving Ghana Goverment as a kickback ) just like he had been doing. but the opposition kick against it( for obvious reasons) . since Ghana is democratic country . it is easy to mobilised people of like mind . people matched in the street and demand the Goverment to stop the arrangement. I bet such a voluntary demonstration hardly exist in west africa. for such a critical information to get to ordinary ghanian shows how democratic Ghana is. such information is always hidden from the public until it is done. it is security issue . currently , America is setting up a 100 million dollar drone base in Niger republic. yet it still dosnt mean they are buying up Niger. |
samorobo:Even the blind knows uni of Ghana is no ones mate in west africa. the only uni with quaternary care in the whole of west Africa. Nigeria bogus changes begin only in 2017. just check below that perioud and see for yourself. |
samorobo:check out golden age result . the young university ranking 2019 from the same ranking institution. one thing to be notice is, this ranking progress can be influence and buy. Saudi Arabia uni is well known for that. sooner or later . the truth shall be open. And you should understand, how serious thing are changing now. Germany have move up from 3 university to 23 uni. Uk refuse to progressed. down from 32 represented colledge to 28. A bigger gain for Germany this year. China and Japan are also well represented. things are changing. |
samorobo:maybe you need a month rest in ajah . you are so used to noise. |
samorobo:How can you love noise? what is romantic about it? |
HellVictorinho:That is your opinion. it is baseless. |
Astronomers have for the first time discovered water in the atmosphere of a planet orbiting within the habitable zone of a distant star. The finding makes the world - which is called K2-18b - a plausible candidate in the search for alien life. Within 10 years, new space telescopes might be able to determine whether K2-18b's atmosphere contains gases that could be produced by living organisms. Details were published in the scientific journal Nature Astronomy. The lead scientist, Prof Giovanna Tinetti of University College London (UCL) described the discovery as "mind blowing". "This is the first time that we have detected water on a planet in the habitable zone around a star where the temperature is potentially compatible with the presence of life," she said. The habitable zone is the region around a star where temperatures are sufficiently benign for water to exist in liquid form on the surface of a planet. K2-18b is 111 light-years - about 650 million million miles - from Earth, too far to send a probe. So the only option is to wait for the next generation of space telescopes to be launched in the 2020s and to look for gasses in the planet's atmosphere that could only be produced by living organisms, according to UCL's Dr Ingo Waldmann. "This is one of the biggest questions in science and we have always wondered if we are alone in the Universe," Dr Waldmann said. "Within the next 10 years, we will know whether there are chemicals that are due to life in those atmospheres." What is an exoplanet? Planets beyond our Solar System are called exoplanets The first exoplanet was discovered in 1992, orbiting a pulsar (a neutron star that emits electromagnetic radiation) More than 4,000 have been detected to date using several techniques Many of these worlds are large planets believed to resemble Jupiter or Neptune Many giant planets have been found orbiting very close to their stars The team behind the discovery looked through the planets discovered by the Hubble Space Telescope between 2016 and 2017. The researchers determined some of the chemicals in their atmosphere by studying the changes to the starlight as the planets orbited their suns. The light filtered through the planets' atmospheres was subtly altered by the composition of the atmosphere. Only K2-18b revealed the molecular signature of water, which is a vital ingredient for life on Earth. Computer modelling of the data suggested that up to 50% of its atmosphere could be water. The new planet is just over twice the size of Earth and has a temperature cool enough to have liquid water, between zero and 40C. Dr Angelos Tsiaras, a member of the UCL team, said that finding water in the atmosphere of a potentially habitable exoplanet was "incredibly exciting". He said: "It brings us closer to answering the fundamental question: Is the Earth unique?" Long haul One difficulty with this approach, though, is that astronomers can't agree on which gases would constitute evidence of life. That might be more of a longer haul. It is likely to require a survey of the chemical composition of, perhaps, hundreds of worlds and an understanding of how they are created and evolve, according to Prof Tinetti. "The Earth really stands out in our own Solar System. It has oxygen, water and ozone. But if we find all that around a planet around a distant star we have to be cautious about saying that it supports life," she said. "This is why we need to understand not just a handful of planets in the galaxy but hundreds of them. And what we hope is that the habitable planets will stand out, that we will see a big difference between the planets that are habitable and the ones that are not." Dr Beth Biller at Edinburgh University's Institute of Astronomy said she believed that evidence of life on a planet around a distant star would eventually be discovered. "That would be a paradigm shift for all of humanity," she told BBC News. "It's not going to be ET phoning home, necessarily - more likely microbes or some other simple life. Even so (when it happens) it's going to be huge". The prospective launch of Nasa's much delayed James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) in 2021, and the European Space Agency's Ariel mission seven years later, will enable astronomers to study in detail the atmospheres of the varied worlds that have been detected so far. Water has been detected on other planets but they have been either too big or too hot to support life. Cooler smaller planets are much harder to detect. The team at UCL was able to do this by developing algorithms capable of teasing out the chemical composition of the atmospheres of potentially habitable worlds K2-18b was discovered in 2015 and is one of hundreds of super-Earths - planets with a mass between Earth and Neptune - found by Nasa's Kepler spacecraft. Nasa's Tess mission is expected to detect hundreds more in coming years. The research was funded by the European Research Council and the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council, which is part of the UK Research and Innovation agency (UKRI). Source: bbc.com |
samorobo:You just accept the defeat. A calmer and cooler place will surely be better than a noisy enviroment. |
mtisTheQubit:so after south Africa finished sending all blacks home and the unemployment persist. the next option will be to attack themselves. xhosa may even be blaming Zulu for job lost and vice versa. they will have to kill themselves all. the ideology is very absurd. they will by their own hand destroy south africa and her economy. |
samorobo:what are you saying? you can easily learn from the online report . 2017 was when the USA were trainned in the jungle welfare . every other arrangements are simply joint exercise. |
samorobo:the video dated back to two years report. it doesn't matter when it was uploaded . be informed. |
Just30:The last year was a joint millitary exercises based on the report. |
