The Church Commissioners for England, who handle £8.2 billion of church assets, ban investment in companies that profit from recreational drugs but said for the first time that they would consider investing in companies that work with medicinal marijuana now that it is legal in the UK.
!
ok this is worth replying,
“ An investment operation is one which, upon thorough analysis, promises safety of principal and a satisfactory return. Operations not meeting these requirements are speculative.”
In the above lines thorough analysis implies analyses based on logic and facts rather than the psychology, hunches or intuitions. It involves studying facts in light of established standards of safety and value.
The safety promised in such an operation does not need to be absolute, but should provide adequate protection against loss of principal in reasonably normal conditions or variations in the economic scenario.
Church of England may even be outsourcing her finances, she has portfolios of investment and shares across many COMPANY public equity. She may raised bond for the project, or even borrowed to financed the project. It does not neccasrily mean she has to empty her cover. Stick to your literatures Buda. Go and read some Shakespeare. Science and buisness is not for you.
You talk too much pooping on unneccasry and gibberish side talk. Broadcast your message to verbose poster like you cus the more you try this act of feminine with me, i will made the audience see the gulibility of your input. I am a respecter of no stupidity .......
budaatum: Sounds like you don't know much about Kings of England or of United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth, as our Queen Elizabeth is known. She has no such power "to do almost anything" as you claim. Neither was democracy welcomed by any monarch. It was wrested from the King by Parliament.
United Kingdom monarchs haven't had the authority you claim she has after we beheaded King Charles I for treason on January 30, 1649 and replaced him with James II the King of England and Ireland who was also known as James VII the King of Scotland and whom we deposed in the Glorious Revolution of 1688 and replaced in 1689 by Mary II Queen of England, Scotland, and Ireland who co-reigned with her husband and first cousin, King William III the Prince of Orange, the Stadtholder of Holland, Zeeland, Utrecht, Gelderland and Overijssel in the Dutch Republic until her death.
As for "the Church Commissioners who exist to support the work and mission of the Church of England today and for future generations, helping it to remain a Christian presence in every community", according to ethical guidelines which exclude direct investments "in companies involved in indiscriminate weaponry, conventional weaponry, pornography, tobacco, gambling, non-military rearms, high interest rate lending, human embryonic cloning, extraction of thermal coal and production of oil from oil sands, subject to revenue thresholds", at the request of us members. I can assure you that we can, if we see fit, add marijuana to that list especially as most foreign companies that do engage in the production of marijuana also might produce some for recreational use.
This has cross out of point. We are discussing church investment into what is totally regard as ungodly or unholy to the church of Christ here. Not on the supremacy of church. I only tolerate it for a while when you shift the goal post. I am not tolerating that anymore.
The report i posted says church of England is investing into marijuana and the commissioner of the church did give a go ahead. So who are you to question them? A SITTING church member or the governing council in the synod house?.
I hate it when i am reading wording without any form of peculiarities or reasoning.
budaatum: At the synods that I attend? I'm sure. The CoE is not ever going to invest all its funds of about 10b in one single product to start with, as we just aren't so stupid that we'd put all our money in one single investment, and see the following from the Times:
The Church Commissioners for England, who handle £8.2 billion of church assets, ban investment in companies that profit from recreational drugs but said for the first time that they would consider investing in companies that work with medicinal marijuana now that it is legal in the UK.
See the word "consider"? That consideration means "discuss it at synod", and the "ban" mentioned was as a result of synod agitation, and not because of any yeye holiness (CoE does not do holiness!). Any whiff of the Church Commissioners investing in anything we consider non-medicinal marijuana, we will be back on the w#arpath! And trust me, they listen. We just need to stop paying offerings to make them, and when CoE members agitate, even God in heaven hears.
For your info, "supreme governor" of the CoE and Defender of the Faith is Queen Elizabeth II and if you haven't noticed, she hardly ever speaks!
A very unusual organisation, is the CoE.
You can't be too sure particularly when you don't know. The church of England is investing her MONEY into a profitable venture. The net market value of marijuana as of today stands around 11 billon dollar which is expected to hit 50 billion dollar in 2027. Church of England refuse to be left out of this profitable venture.
After further scrutiny of this subject, the church commissioner actually agree with the project and consider it a medicinal project while still rejecting the idea of using it for recreational purpose ( we got a clue now that the first steps had been broken, what next now is the total legalization of it for whatever purpose has it is done in Netherlands and Canada of late
And regarding the supreme governor, madam Elizabeth the queen holds the power to do almost anything ( and so denies that power to any elected politician or bishop or whatever) but only exercises it on advice. If she wanted to change church doctrine or secular law (or withhold the approval of a change) on her own a account, she can do that easily but not to provoke a major constitutional crisis. She welcome democratic rullings.
The play King Charles 3 explores this in a fictional setting.
budaatum: Excise me!? I wonder why you think we hold synods! I'm CoE and we don't adopt this "no questioning of authority" ideology of yours! We question everything that If you put 2 CoEs in the Garden of Eden and God said "this fruit, don't eat", we'd be asking Why? Why? Why?! And if we don't get a satisfactory answer, we'd ask the fruit by eating it because questioning is precisely our leading ideology.
I think the CoE will have to justify this at the next synod meeting. We forced a pull out in investment in tobacco and I can see objections to investing in dope!
How are you sure this new investment wasn't thoroughly debated in synod before the church finnally settle to inject a whooping 10. 5 billion dollar into something the large Christian majority feel it is against the standard character of holiness and the head of church ( Jesus christ) .
I doubt as much, the supreme governor has the final says on this matter..... The member agitation are for simple democratic rullings.
MuttleyLaff: "Jesus was walking through some wheat fields on a Sabbath. As his disciples walked along with him, they began to pick the heads of wheat." - Mark 2:23
"At that time Jesus passed through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick and eat some heads of grain." - Luke 6:1
Nobi today, yansh don tay for back nau. Do you know about how much unethical products that Wall Street offers, churches are knowingly or unknowingly investing in, hmm?
That, as a matter of fact, is a good thing
Even the disciples of jesus got high, how much vaxx. Is time to blow small grass jare
leokid866: At the moment we can only be happy for our brothers in developed countries who can handle the fallout of legal Weed. Nigeria in its present state despite being one of Africa's largest consumer of weed cannot legalize it any way because we lack the systems to control the fallout. For example since legalization Canada has had an increase in Weed related road accidents. We already have bad roads in nigeria now add legal Weed to it....tell me what you see.
The moral implications. Legalizing it an Africa may pose more damage using Canada weed accident related incident as a case study.
However, a Leafly article by Natán Ponieman suggested otherwise. “Moderation seems to be the key to the enjoyment of non-medical cannabis in the Christian tradition,” he wrote.
In an exclusive conversation, Ponieman explained that, when you look at it from a historical perspective, “there is nothing in the basis of Christianity against medicine. Jesus himself was (and still is for many, today) a healer.
“The default relationship one would normally trace between the big churches and prohibitionism has more to do with their historical role as political agents, than it has to do with any directive derived from their core value system.”
A few months after my conversation with Shavo, and Ponieman’s article came out, I met Joy Smith, a grandmother who went from preaching the Lord’s word as a Christian minister, to preaching the benefits of pure CBD as a hemp .
samorobo: Nah its the capacity that matters.there is a reason why it's called capacity which translate with the yield point of what both ports can contain individually.that way you know which port is bigger. I am glad you closed the case anyway cause I was going to do the same, because you were distracting me from attending to those slum dwellers
Containership capacity is measured in TEU (Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit) which is the same as 1 x 20ft long container. So the worlds largest ship for example in Hong Kong can carry 21,413 TEU (twenty foot containers). And mps Tema can take as much as 18,000 container at once base on the capacity. You can see the minor difference. Lekki seaport ha is too small to do that.
I am of the opinion you are familiar with this subject. I want to believe that.
johnydon22: There is no doubt that on this board, we are majorly separated into two camps when it involves the origin of species or even the universe itself.
1. Evolution Camp (Mostly atheists, a decent number of theists, agnostics and so forth)
2. Design Camp (Mostly Theists, a minority of atheists and agnostics)
The argument for both camps has been raging through the years on this board, to be honest, i quite enjoy them.
Let's say, I've grown to the point where I'd like to give everyone an equal listening ear, try not to start off an argument from a definite position, initially or probably not letting what i think get in the way of what i may discover in what others think.
So, I'm opening this thread to understand why exactly do the proponents of these schools of thought agree with them.
When you agree with a particular idea, this connotes that there are elements of this idea that satisfies your own framework or logical expectation of how that question should and can be answered.
So the question here is Why do you agree with evolution?
Why do you agree with design theory?
And why do you think the other theory you disagree with is wrong?
P.S; No copy and paste of online articles or journals, I am simply asking you what you personally think, or isolated elements in either school of thought that compels you to agree with it
let me add my view as a novice. Evolution does not negate design.
It is valid statement that evolution does not explain all what we need to know about biology, it is also a valid statement that designer proponent does not support all their notion well, why will a biological human needs an inteligent design. No theory to demonstrate it yet.
So my appealing to the proponent of inteligent design is to come up with emperical or well propounded logical analysis to demonstrate that adding a designer concept to the theory of evolution will improves our approximation so that we can add this to our textbook and become a new knowledge of science.
FOLYKAZE: Evolution and Intelligent Design both have no tangible evidence.
Evolution does not contradict inteligent design in my own opinion . What if evolution is the mechanical tool for inteligent design. Inteligent design can include evolution.
Evolution has overwhelmingly evidence that any accurate and legitimate findings against it could rewrite biology textbook and practically change our medical health understanding.
samorobo: Vaxx tbh I don't know why you are trying to deride the obvious.the govt or PPP whoever is sponsoring that must have told the contractors what they want and it is left to the contractor to actualize that dream when properly funded. Did you even listen to your self "IT IS THE AIM OF THE CONTRACTORS AND MANY AT TIMES THEY DON'T MEET THEIR AIM" I ask you vaxx do you know this contractors personally to know if they are competent enough for the job and able to meet the required capacity? Lekki deepseaport has a capacity of 4.7 million while yours has a capacity of 3 million .just because yours is an expansion doesn't mean we cannot build something entirely bigger than your entire expansion, remember we paid extra $1.5m for ours .you should be happy yours will cater for 3 million people while ours on the other hand will cater for 200 million alongside the over 5 port construction that are bigger that each existing ones. For example before they came up with badagry deepseaport lagos state govt did a research on the current port and the ones under construction in africa and made sure that badagry and ibom will remain the biggest and the largest on the continent
Goel: India was never no. 1 poverty striken country. Number of poor people was high because India's population was big. Now, we are turning into an upper middle income country like China and Thailand and at least basic poverty is about to disappear. Sooner you guys realise it, better for you. India was poorer than Africa sometime in 1970s, not now.
India case never impressed me. She is too big to be poor but notwithstanding she is till poor and not much different from Afrika perspective.
Many country in Asia were poorer than africa 60 years ago, Saudi Arabia, Qatar now one of the richest country depends on charity from Africa country to feed their orphanage then. They were once a poor country.
samorobo: Vaxx you see most times everything doesn't have to be a long argument but accepting what's on ground and moving on.I agrees about your mps tema because I watched the video on online and I can relate to the capacity you have stated above. I believe I attached a post that stated it is a 1.5 million capacity and it expected to grow to 2.7 million and 4.7 million when operational (I didnt come up with that post remember)which would make it 1.7 million higher than yours and we are to gain at least $560bn from it in years to come.
That is the potential idea and the aim of the contractor that is handling the lekki project. Many at times they don't meet their aim. Lekki is new, Tema isn't.....
As you can see the acres of land the project is going to cover state it all.no need to further go back and forth.
An in addition, roads are also been build as well along the expanded harbour.
My dude sent me this .... And he said the job so far is very impressive.
samorobo: OMG...My bad I totally mistook the cost of of ibom deepseaport for lekki dear sea port. Although ibom deapseaport has just recently started, it cost $2.5BN not $2bn and is expected to be completed by 2021 while badagry deapseaport will cost $2.6bn . Lekki deapseaport capacity is 1.5 million 20 foot equivalent unit (teus) container capacity and it's is expected to grow to 2.7 million and 4.7 million TEUs when the port begins operation. And as for the cost of lekki deapseaport it's actually $1.65bn not $1.5bn. We will earn $560bn from the port .
By the way what train are you talking about?
nah, you lied again the lekki deep sea port project is 1.5 billion dollar awarded to the Chinese company. It can only boast of 2 million capacity and cover only 90ha of land . Very small. Even to the size of the newly expanded Takoradi harbour ( second largest sea port in Ghana).
Mps, Tema sea port is the largest in West Africa. Covering 238 acres of land and with a potential handling capacity of 3. 5 million TEUs when fully completed. The first phase will open next week. THE POTENTIAL OF THiS PROJECT WILL CHANGE GHANA ECONOMICALLY. It will be able to handle some of the world biggest ship carrying up to 18,000 containers. You can translate that to cash and imagine the amount Ghana is expected to make form it. And beside, The overall economic impact of this project will translate into 400, 000 jobs along the logistics chain. The investment being made would also change the dynamics of the country’s maritime industry over the next 100 years. That is the long time achievement.
Moreover, there is another development going in Volta region of Ghana to extablish a new sea port at keta . Work already begin......
Let's see badagry sea port spec and the acres of land is going to cover and likewise that of akwaibom sea port.
EmperorHarry: Lol..He's got a point tho.Same line of thought I'm currently researching.
he is off point... noting concurrent. Just absolutely verbose. Imagine saying such rubbish to a global audience. Or penning it down for scrutiny. Where will you even begin? No head nor tail.
Billy0naire: That does not sound daft enough, say something more daft than that, son.
Your utterances are more stupid as they come. Only deluded idiot will think been able to sew or fasten grammar together even if it is incoherent is something inteligent.
For those of us who are good at mathematics, a barrel of palm oil is more expensive than barrel of oil. Palm oil can generate more hard currency for the country than oil
Billy0naire: All the arguments seem to spring from the analytical faculties of the mindset while totally ignoring the intuitive aspects of the human system where true answers lie.
Every designed system has a designer. Nothing exists without a Cause. And the Source of the Cause is always 'Conscious Entities'. So, I think the meat of your arguments is not realizing that you are arguing about a singular conscious entity when you have millions if not billions engaging in multiplayer reality experience from outside of it. Are you all really in this world or you are operating the avatar from a different location virtually?
Since I do not like an argument for argument's sake, it is better to say, that I have been, on that spot before, it is tough to escape that egoic phase except and until 'experience' happens. And experience happened to me.
And that is why I always ask: Have you tried stepping outside of your bodies to see the Nature of Reality outside of the so-called Physical Reality?
This world is a Virtual Reality, a very immersive one. It is hosted and rendered from Cosmic Mainframe Computer and our bodies are just avatars being played by our 'Conscious Aspect' (HIgher Self). We are not in our body per sae, our experiences are just feedback loop of the decisions and actions of the Conscious Aspect that exist outside the limited spectrum of the Reality we experience now. The real you, does not look exactly like the you that physically is here.
Well, it is hard for intellectual logical and analytical mind to understand fully, and it is also tough for an intuitive but sleeping avatar to figure this out. The right brain transceives intuitively and the left brain, logically/intellectually, but when both hemisphere syncs, then you stand a greater chance of experiencing the nature of this world from outside of it.
This is NOT the real world, this is a Reality that is hosted and rendered for our experience and there are many other Realities outside this one.
You do not need a God for this world to function the way it does, because the rulesets are computed and the system runs actively and is maintained from outside this reality.
The Universe does not need 'God' as Religions portray to function the way it does, but it needs Consciousness, Conscious Entities, a Computer and a Deep Mind Database of probabilistic possibilities of choices for free will. If there is a God, it is unknowable at this level, because this is just a Simulation within a larger and more advanced Simulation.
I have had an experience of the computer hosting this reality and saw the real me playing this Avatar. New Age people call that other self, the Higher Self. I have no language for it, but I know that is the real me. It is a beautiful world out there where this one is hosted on the other larger consciousness system.
I have seen that world. And this one looks like a bad copy compared to the other Reality that this is computed from.
Guy, quit smoking, it is not good for your health. Friendly advice .
rvp2018: He is out on bail. Our new constitution is very modern with 5th generation rights. Murder suspects are entitled to bail leave alone assault cases .We are also entitled to anticipatory bail.Rashid come from Somali region where misogyny is real. Hopefully with all the evidence he gets the maximum jail term of 2yrs I reckon.
universal declaration of human right also says the same. Kudos to Kenya legal system.
Hopefully that two years will serve as deterrent to other power mongers
samorobo: Nah I dont think so . Maybe for now it will be the biggest but lekki deepseaport will be ready before December and it will be the biggest in west africa.it cost $2bn
You forget tema is expanding not new like lekki. Anyway what is lekki spec? GHANA might have renegotiated a better deal. We saw similar evidence in the train project. .
Lekki deepseaport is 1.5 billion. You just lied. And the capacity is less comparable to tema The acres of land is small as well. I can bet you. When it is fully completed. It might be the biggest port in SUBSAHRAN africa with the exception of Durban which is even contested.
budaatum: You can't close a case vaxx. You always come back and hit me with the same tripe under a different guise and buda shall be patiently waiting.
rvp2018: Yes automation is key. We already do that in Kenya - the problem right now is about 51 gov agencies all want to inspect or check the containers - and that is starting to hurt again. Now we want to reduce that to only 5.
I see Ghana not doing as badly - I am also surprised the laggards of Appa-Lagos port complex have woken up . The container dwell time in West Africa (Tema & Lagos) is crazy - 25 days (1 MONTH) - while in South Africa it's like 4 days - kenya 5 days - and in a place like Singapore it's hours.
Just imagine waiting for 1 month to get your container out - and then maybe another 1-2 week to get to last mile somewhere in Abuja.
