Just30:we need to forge ahead to resolved this crisis. |
Ibrahimanis:That is fair of you. |
Ibrahimanis:let me test your analytical skills. Ghana with a population of about 25 million has about. 81 plus university and Nigeria with population of about 180 million has about 300 plus university. which country has more university going by the percentage with the population of these nations? i think the answer here should give you a fair understanding of the present argument. |
Ibrahimanis:This is big problem. but anyway it is ok. what is your academic qualification? |
bantudra:lol. do you lack queen language. read what i wrote there again and get back to me. |
Ibrahimanis:oh my godth, who is talking about trade volume here, it is common sensical that business operated in Nigeria will likely generate much more trade surplus than that of ghana due to population, but the question is how many of such buisness are willing to stay and have branches. from the link you posted yourself, you can see the decline statistics and percentage of the volume trade. when you begin to divide that percentage per the individual; you will realise the reverse is the case. |
Just30:not at all bro. bank is doing productive business, ponzi schemes is not.The different between rate of lending and rate of deposits are called interest spread and that is the bank’s Income. For example, your deposit 1000 cedis in your bank and in return bank will give you cedis . 40 as interest at the end of one year (4% per annum ) For simple calculation and understanding i have taken only saving bank deposit here. These 1000 cedis bank will give to other customers as a Loan and will charge 120 (12% Per annum). Here cedis . 40 is the cost of bank and cedis 120 is revenue and the difference which is ghc 80 is the Income or you can say operating profit for the bank. they are many ways bank make productive business thru service. i honestly do not think the guy is rich enough, what he does was psychological brain washing. he created the idea that he is very rich and that sink well to the people. many business also do that as well, there was a time oceanic bank in Nigeria created such idea, it surprised everybody that the bank can be bought by eco bank which is having a few customer base comparing to her. not knowing despite being small, tbe few base customer are very productive. |
Ibrahimanis:Do you read the Articule you posted yourself. this is the screenshot below.
|
Jonraid:That is welcome development. hope we can also emulate this fantastic idea. |
tylann:country with a single industry. example. angola and oil. |
Ibrahimanis:https://www.forbesafrica.com/investment-guide/2017/10/30/west-africa-less-attractive-investors/ That links shouild give a clear overveiw |
NairobiWalker:in actuality, trends have beeng showing mineral resources is not dependable and cannot skyrocket a weak economy. what to do is to to apply brain work. human as individual are the most prestigious asset. |
Jonraid:when it comes to foreign direct investment, east africa in general is doing far better than west africa. we need to borrow inteligence from you guys. it is commendable. west africa and central africa is doing poor in the area comparing to you guys. |
NairobiWalker:These country are mono focus economy apart from south africa and partially Botswana. A single mono focus nation still have a lot to do. |
Just30:Any business that lures investors and pays profits to earlier investors by using funds obtained from more recent investors without a actual product and service is a pomzi schemes . businesses can not be sustained simply by referring or relying upon people recent investment. A sustainable buisness works with product or service . A meaningful one for that matter. is NASDAQ a ponzi?nah, tt deals with stocks exchange. there is movement of services. |
Just30:menzgold is simply a ponzi schemes. No goverment should tolerate such industry. they end up liquidating. Nigerian once have their own version in 2017. it is called MMM. |
Just30:Not so bad, this country are diversifying their economy, moving away from one focus industry like oil or simple gold. Any mono focus industry, no matter how big the indusrty may be , it will be slower to development. we are in the era of technology aand md service production.. thinking forward nations are moving toward this area. |
Just30:Then if this must come quicker, then i advise government shouild be serious in sanitizing the buisness enviroment, not when it is too late. menzgold create a lot of mess in the country, there alot of ponzi schemes growing everyday which need immediate crack down. in my, opinion, Npp government is sleeping, and there is the recent news of kidnapping, what is going on? |
NairobiWalker:so going by this Imf GDP economical projection, which country is likely to be called a developed african county soon. |
NairobiWalker:For better assessment of standard of living in a country, GDP is not a sufficient measure. Human Development Index, Gini coefficient, are some of other measures to do that. Each index constitutes different information. One single index is never advised. and in this category, Ghana is ahead of both Nigeria and Kenya. GDP assumes too much, it assumes all growth is good growth.for example, the pollution of the water in Nigeria due to oil exploration, the clean up will be added to GDP, as is the health care cost. But clearly that is a negative for society, even as it is a positive for GDP. i agree that no one number could possibly serve as a good measure of an economic system. Any statistic involves choices about what to measure, what to include, how to weight those inputs, and what to exclude. For a Nigeria system of 180 million people and billions of dollars, no number could possibly capture the variety of experiences and vagaries of output and growth. GDP is a usual measure, but we rely on it far too much, that it to tell us things it cannot. |
NairobiWalker:i am aware of this, and mind you not Kuwait, i mean UAE. i just said the gdp per capital does not factor in equality and inequality. therefore putting us in limbo. While GDP might not give the exact living standards of a country it gives the size of its economy. You should note though even inequality withstanding, there is a level beyond which a country can have better standards of living than it's counterpart with higher GDP per capita. South Africa is for instance more unequal than Nigeria but still, it has way better standards of living than Nigeria.it gives a value neutral of the size of the economy. if today, i decide to change my eating habit as a Nigerian ( meaning, if i stop cooking my own meal and decide to eat from restaurant, it will immideatly contribute to the commercial activity of Nigeria. it is not a practical demonstration of an economic welfare. South africa has one of the highest in HDI in africa and has a very well developed industrial base. It also ranked highest on the prosperity index for 4 of the last 5 years (and second for 2016). (Meanwhile Nigeria is very low in this category. |
NairobiWalker:i am even combining the two nations. Qatar and UAE. The per capita GDP is simply the total GDP divided by the number of persons. It mentions nothing about the levels of equality and inequality. Chances are, that in a small country, per capita GDP might still be quite high even if the average standard of living is not. but in qatar and UAE . The standard of living is also high. |
Ibrahimanis:it's only an account of the growth in the number of commercial transactions in the economy. It's not a very good measure to understand development of a society. It is also highly value-neutral, which can be a bad thing. i actually dont subscribed to it. the commercial activity of china is 20 times bigger than that of qatar and United arab Emirates in combine. yet, this tiny nations(citizen's )are living larger than life. |
edon21:i am aware of it. recently two foreign bank just closed down in Nigeria ( hsfc and ubs ) causing both job and capital loss. while in Ghana, foreign bank are waxing stronger. At the beginning of this year, CNN published the list of 19 place to vist in 2019. and ghana was placed on fourth position. this is a commendable development from the government. they 're seriously promoting and branding Ghana positively abroad. if this trend continue, Ghana may soon take the contested position from Nigeria completely. |
The pioneer of warless world are the youth that reject millitary service. Albert Einstein. |
Just30:Ghana inward foreign direct investment is growing and May soon become west Africa sub region power house. particularly the service sector. many investors are begining to find interest in Ghana, the peaceful and buisness friendly environment is the contributing factor. |
NairobiWalker:Yes, it is one of the hostel in UniversIty of Ghana |
tylann:The reasons Ghana is attractive to buisness investors might rightly have to do with Nigeria fear of competition and insecurities. though Ghana is also democratically stable and buisness friendly. few paper work are involve. it is the next big deal in west africa sub region behind Nigeria. Ghana is currently housing another phase of usa and UK university (Lancaster and Webster). initially the schools target Nigeria but they were turn down due to the fear that it may collapsed the local private university since much more intellectual parent will prefer usa/uk university to the local ones when the fees are almost the same. Ghana is taking this as an opportunity. and that is bringing in lot of hard currency from neigbouring west african stundent who opted for the schools in Ghana. |
Just30:Pentagon @ legon |
Biodun556:Ghana , ivory coast all have a working refinery when oil was yet to be detected in their region. it doesn't matter where the oil is out sourced. dangote will.be much interested in logistics and cheap labour. lagos has all that qualities. the refined product can easily find its way out of Nigeria quicker and cheaper than refinary located in kaduna. |
TheArranger:This is where we run into problems between science and God. Replicating evidence that God may exist or not exist is only possible if we can share it. Is there any objective measures we can use? |
plaetton:hoopps...A very biased and subjective conclusion. The fact is that there is no logically acceptable arguments for the existence of god, except Faith. Faith is what God rests upon. That's why religions are built upon the acceptance and preservation of FAITH.Logic is limited, evidence is best acceptable. In the presence of evidence, logic humble. The scientific method does not provide "absolute truth", it only provides a heuristic that is guaranteed to converge on the simplest understanding of reality at the level of accuracy you're interested in that doesn't obviously fail. The first step in the scientific method is decidedly not “ask a question”. The first step is coming up to speed with the current knowledge base in a discipline. Then, after observing the workings of the world based on that state of knowledge, you can take the next step and conceive then hypothesize something new. But notice what it takes to get there: you have to have a set of evidence and demonstrably reliable knowledge to start the process of proposing something new that’s testable. Science demonstrates through evidence. Evidence is always incomplete, thus it can never provide proof. Ever. There is always a possibility that we're missing something. Science can, however, disprove. In reality, disproving things is what science is all about. Yet evidence is always subject to interpretation (and manipulation), so we must be diligent in demanding that any result can be replicated under different conditions. If multiple lines of evidence were well and repeatedly tested with a strong effect size, not everyone would accept the best explanation is a god. So the conclusion is more complicated as you may think. |
