urahara: Unfortunately , horn Africans are not black Humanity began in Africa. Humans have lived in Africa longer than they have lived outside of it. So, logically, there is more diversity within Africa than outside of it. And that is why there is a plethora of “looks” that various African ethnic groups may have. There is still a great deal of ignorance people have about the continent and its history, especially from the people of the west. . You have been reading a lot of western literature which tend to have a stereotypical image of what all Africans must belief, look like, behave, are capable of, and have done in their history. The truth is that the reality is often very different from what they imagine. most people from the horn are part of the Hamitic subrace of the Caucasian race. These include the Oromo in Ethiopia and the Somali peoples. There are also Semitic people in the north of Ethiopia and Eritrea, they are a mix of the aforementioned Hamites and the Semites from Arabia. |

kkins25: The one who won the battle most have had some advantage over the other. Europeans invaded and defeated us in our own land. Even though they were at a disadvantage in terms of terrai, climatic conditions and probably numbers of warriors. Africa did its best to withstand the intruders for some time, the ashanti tribe of ghana is one of those communities that were almost a formidable opponent. Nonetheless, the more cunning and crafty Party took the victory. They may have won because of battle techniques and weaponry.
I am a black man, i do not beat my chest when I say the european man is somewhat an advanced sapien specie. I say this because like us the Europeans or Caucasians once upon a time were infected with the same disease(religion) that infects us today.
They have evolved above it because they make use of their cerebrum. I stand to be corrected but if one African country was suffering from its ignorance then it would be silly to conclude that Africans have a defect or are not evolved as its Caucasian counterpart. But the whole Africa is suffering from the same white or foreign-man invented pathogen(just a factor though) .
Arabians came to take slaves from Africa, Europeans came to take slaves, Americans came to take slaves. They were all coming to Africa because they were the easiest bush meat to catch. Now China is putting chains on us again. It seems the level of intelligence our fore fathers left us with is the same one we use today.
Take a look at ghana with low rate of out of school kids but still development is going slow. They too are so damn religious,"Everything is in God's hands". I've heard were someone says drugs can't work without God's permission or something like that. I was devastated. We Nigerian youths are so lazy and vision less that we are willing to kill ourselves for the same tyrants that sold us as slaves.
Blacks are evolving but at a very slow rate. I know this because, as a teacher I sometimes try to evaluate the faculty of reasoning of my students.
In a class of about 20+ just about 2 students find the Adam and Eve story to be some form of fairytale because it's completely lacks logic. Some of them would doubt for a sec and revert back to the default settings gs of "Adam and Eve are our ancestors". But the reaming 95% do not want to even consider anything.
They provide no room for analysis, critical thinking and i also noticed they are the ones with little or no self control.
We as African were doing so well in medicine like China but we now buy drugs from foreigners whom used African ideas to develop these drugs. We are not developing and it's not that the resources are unavailable, the resources are very much available but we are held down by ignorance. If Japan had the kind of resources and man power we had now im sure Japan would be standing shoulder to shoulder with China. Africa is not poor, it is poorly managed”. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf. This list is endless. There is another Africa that the media never wants to you to see. The positive Africa that is prosperous, progressive and just as developed as the West. Sadly, the NGO industry machine and the western countries never want you to see this side.. So many african state do have state of the art tech . we even use high tech gadgets like the rest of the world, I myself use a PS4 right in Nigeria before. while using LTE internet to stream and download online games at great speeds. In african countries (that i know of like Nigeria, ivory coast, Ghana)had an impressive banking system . wherever I am in the country as long as I have my phone or tablet. I. Can conduct my transaction anywhere.. i also know we have online shops which are similar to Amazon (such as jumia ). There is an impressive call cable tv . We called it. (DSTV) where we can also stream movies etc. we have smart TV’s. Abuja justl recenlty laucnh a high speed train system.. so dont be too carried away with this propaganda news about africa. Though to an extent, we aren't on the same ladder with the west, but i beg to blame religion as the cause of it. The founder of the automobile industry "in Ghana "kantaka motors is an apostle. I will rather shift the blame on responsibility lays with governments, which consistently miss on opportunity to gradually increase expenses on the general educational and continue to throw money into the current consumption abyss. They are good brains in africa regardless of religion connection. What we don't have is good governance as Liberia female President put it. |

Jared Diamond himself did not stop at that stage and went on to build on that fantastic work in 2005 with Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed.

budaatum: Well, whether one calls it smartness or savagery is really a choice of perspective. I would say we weren't smart enough to resist their deception and savagery. Same difference to me and not the point per se.
As to the record regarding agriculture, medicine and economy, and how well we were doing, one could argue that the records show that ancient Egypt was more advanced than most of Europe, but I can't from that infer that Africa was more advanced than the whole of Europe since Egypt hardly extended over the entire Africa. And prior to the arrival of foreigners amongst my own Yoruba tribe, we were already ravaging ourselves through wars, so I can't say we were peaceful. The battle for supremacy between Obatala and Oduduwa afterall does predate the arrival of Europeans, and is a war going on till today.
Arguing such points though, when much more is at stake is just a way of perpetuating our inability to learn and progress, in my opinion. Even if Egypt is excluded, they are still evidence that support Afrrican had a very robust agricultural sytem and a well established economy.Ghana empire which the mordern ghana took her name from for instance is an advance economy state , and same is great Zimbabwe, Ethiopia empire and the rest. Wikipedia has a good article about them. Yes undoubtedly, Yoruba kingdom historically also invade themselves but comparing our types of war to what Europeans were known for is like comparing a toddler with an adult. We were fighting each other, that is not doubted, but we were more willing to adopt peace. Obatala kingdom was very peaceful, historically prior to oduduwa reign, ile ife was a very peaceful enviroment with no any recorded single war. Oduduwa was the first to establish millitary goverment. The replacement oduduwa made was not pure war, but a balance between peace and war. This is why Oduduwa's name means "Olu Dudu Iwa," or "Black Lord of Balanced Character." |

See Africa was the first to expand and conquer regions as far as India so i will not thoroughly accept superior technology though it is a factor to consider Kingdoms from Africa expanded from Egypt to the Near East. The kingdom of Aksum expanded to establish governors in Yemen, that was from the 4th century (Abraha the Qur'anic character). The Almoravid dynasty that occupied almost all southern Europe, and that was very recently (from around the 11th century to around the 14th century) came from Africa. They established themselves in all big European centers of that time and converted lots of Europeans to Islam. Africa and Africans started exploiting other regions of the world first before anybody else. That situation lasted for millennials but this was much more peaceful compare to the way the European did it. |

I will rather called that savagies .( why will you invade a peaceful nations that has nothing to do with you) Africa is by far peaceful compared to the west in antiguity, so there is no need to master the techniques of war to an advanced level that the west had learn. These guys need to read more of history.
I am not sure about blacks been Egyptians but the Kingdom of Kush ( or Nubia ) was a great empire that rivalled Egypt in its day and it was black.
The conqueror has rewritten history and erased much of the black man history. Gradually but surely we are finding out that we are indeed a great people and once ruled empires and kingdoms but are now held back by religious superstitious and blind corrupt leaders. By today's racial standards, the ancient Egyptians from pre-dynastic until the Ptolemy era would be considered "black" or "black African" in as much as modern-day sub-Saharan African countries are considered "black nations." Evidence comes from the first non-African eyewitnesses. All the ancient Greek and Roman scholars described the ancient Egyptians as "black" and compared them to looking exactly like the Ethiopians. From the Greek perspective, Ethiopian equals "black" and/or "black African" or "sub-Saharan Africa." So, to even consider ancient Egyptians to be non-black, one would have to declare the writings of this contemporary historians on Egypt -herodotus, Diodorus Siclus, Aristotle, Apollodorus, Ammianus Marcellinus, Lucian Lycinus null and weak. Since their writting emphasis on the black discription of egypr. I had once posted a Cambridge university museums web link supporting this notion. We do it again, if there is a need. |

No 1. Blacks never ruled the world.
No 2. We weren't the only set of people that accepted Christianity and Islam . I think you should stop blaming religion for our failures. well, he may sound too ridiculous to say that, but it seems there are some evidence to suggest it is true. Mansa Musa, the richest man that has ever lived, gave so much of his wealth to Spain and helped build the Mali Empire and made great trade in Egypt and the Middle East . In actuality, there once was a time Africans enslaved Europeans to gain their wealth. And when Europe was corrupt and filled with famine it was Africa that was prospering. Ancient Africa was the first to come up with a trade system, and was the first to create a library, where all their knowledge that they have collected over the years soon spread to other continents. Without Egypt math and astronomy would have taken longer to exist. Most of today's math is built off the philosophy's of Ancient Egyptians and the Ancient Sudanese (Nubians)even the concept of computation known as abacus was developed in egypt before it expand to china. |

Slavery in Africa http://autocww.colorado.edu/~toldy3/E64ContentFiles/AfricanHistory/SlaveryInAfrica.html
Slavery in Africa - Wiki
On Human Sacrifice in West Africa - wiki Human sacrifice was common in West African states up to and during the 19th century. The Annual customs of Dahomey was the most notorious example, but sacrifices were carried out all along the West African coast and further inland. Sacrifices were particularly common after the death of a King or Queen, and there are many recorded cases of hundreds or even thousands of slaves being sacrificed at such events. Sacrifices were particularly common in Dahomey, in the Benin Empire, in what is now Ghana, and in the small independent states in what is now southern Nigeria. According to Rudolph Rummel, "Just consider the Grand Custom in Dahomey: When a ruler died, hundreds, sometimes even thousands, of prisoners would be slain. In one of these ceremonies in 1727, as many as 4,000 were reported killed. In addition, Dahomey had an Annual Custom during which 500 prisoners were sacrificed."
In the Ashanti Region of modern-day Ghana, human sacrifice was often combined with capital punishment.
In the northern parts of West Africa, human sacrifice had become rare early as Islam became more established in these areas such as the Hausa States. Human sacrifice was officially banned in the remainder of West African states only by coercion, or in some cases annexation, by either the British or French. An important step was the British coercing the powerful Egbo secret society to oppose human sacrifice in 1850. This society was powerful in a large number of states in what is now south-eastern Nigeria. Nonetheless, human sacrifice continued, normally in secret, until West Africa came under firm colonial control.
The Leopard men were a West African secret society active into the mid-1900s that practised cannibalism. In theory, the ritual cannibalism would strengthen both members of the society as well as their entire tribe. In Tanganyika, the Lion men committed an estimated 200 murders in a single three-month period. Human sacrifice, the ritual manipulation and killing of a human in western Nigeria and co for perceived spiritual purposes, is not clear in its purpose. But we can rule out capital punishment, even though it is a highly ritualised process, because of how it lacks the spiritual dimension of sacrifice. Yet we still can argue that the spectacle of a public execution would fulfill many of the functions a human sacrifice would also supply. First we need to ask why are any sacrifices made? I have created about three related thread on this. ( You may give it a read)They are simply symbolic acts, and the way every culture perform its sacrifices will reflect quite a lot about it as a society. There has been a lot of work done on animal sacrifice, far more than on human sacrifice, so we should look at that first. Animal sacrifices are usually a case of an animal being selected to serve as a symbolic mediator between the material and spiritual worlds - usually only domesticated animals are selected as sacrifices, as they are halfway between the “cultural” and “natural” worlds. Even this types of animals valid for selection were also carefully selected based on acceptable and non-acceptable groups. As you can see ogun adherent will prefer dog based on the preconceived notion of dog bravery and strength. |

When we worship Owala and Ogun, and at the Odun Ade Festivals, some Church and Mosque people do turn up, but participation on the whole has significantly reduced as more have embraced Islam and Christianity, and school, for that matter, which has been the main cause of decline, I'm afraid, as people who go to school are less likely to worship the traditional gods in the Kingdom. You're less likely to be employed too, if not schooled, and since farming, the main employment of the uneducated, is dwindling, you could see the disincentives to traditional worship. Most of the highly educated avoid it like the plague. A people without their Ancient ancestors roots and culture is like a tree without it's roots. Both Christianity and islam invade ancient kemet ( Africa ) and rape black womb-man and murdered black men and mentally enslaved the children. Look at what is happening in northern Nigeria every day. budaatum: That's why I wondered if it was those names you were asking for.
I used to live in Obanikoro, in Lagos, when it was a village and they used to hold a huge egungun festival there. The local kids who were my friends would put on their outfits, take on the guttural voice of the dead and go whipping people extorting money. I was like 11-14, small as well, so they'd think they could torment me, but I'd recognise them and call them by name and dare them to whip me and "I'd demask them", so they left this "child of the devil", as they called me, alone. I did not try it with the adults though!
I also encountered them in the Orolu Kingdom, but being experienced from Lagos, they too quickly got to know me, so. We do have them in distant sections of the family, but I can't recollect the names of the two I actually know. It is dying off though since most people in Orolu are now Muslims and Christians. Even the egungun goes to the mosque and church these days. LOL.....ISESE can't die off but we evolved and that is what is happening. The same people going to mosque and church are still the same people you will still find in the shrine. There is nothing fanatic can do about it. With regards to the issue of whipping ,This is the part of the play that comes along with it, not the actual ritual. I actually don't embrace it. |

Geofavor: It depends on the situation, who she is to you and how well you relate with eachother.
Anyway, If a girl slaps you and you smile and walk a away, you're not a gentleman. You're a mor0n, and most girls will piss on you. What's gentlemanly is being patient not to hit her when she insults you heavily.
I think you're talking like this because you haven't found yourself in such a situation yet @johnydon22. E no easy o
When a woman attacks, apart from the physical pain (which is negligible sometimes), you feel emotional pain as well. It is this emotional pain that makes most guys retaliate immediately. Emotions are infectious and instantaneous. If she starts getting aggressive, naturally, you will start feeling aggressive too. If she slaps you and you slap back, don't worry, your gentleman status is still intact. You may disagree, but this is true IMO if we're considering equality.
Emotions are not peculiar to females alone. it's something both men and women feel. And not everyone can caution restraint. In contrast to what the society assumes and forces on men, Men are not always emotionally stronger. Men are just as emotional as women. We always forget that men and women are humans first. ALL humans are subject to selfish greed and narcissism. Humans will force themselves and their will on other humans in order to get their way. The rest of humanity decides when they've had enough abuse. Humans shouldn't need to be violent against one another but we are. Why? Because we're animals. We're not as special as we like to think we are. Learning how to stand up for yourself in the face of bullying and tyranny is a necessary skill that everyone should learn. Unfortunately, that means you might have to punch someone from time to time. I'm pretty sure humans will NEVER evolve beyond this. |

We are quickly losing the idea of "It is unmanly to hit a woman" When a midget attacks a bouncer looking dude, he would most likely get a good hit in return, so it doesnt matter if what he looks or is weaker. If you hit someone you shouldn't have the idiotic expectation to not get hit in retaliation. Doesnt matter if Male female alien or otherwise. |
