tylann:i just said the right word is millitary occupation. and noting make it difference from colonization apart from permanacy. one is longer another one is shorter |
tylann:not true, the only diffrence there is permanacy. one is temporal, another one is longer. Ethiopian culture remains intact no influence from they colonial masters like other African countriesAnother lies, many ethipoian street are name after italian names. regarding influence, not so much of Italian colony still maintain the culture. for example , libya and eritheri (not the right word) all have their umique language and cuilture due to religion influence. no african country currently speak italian as its lingual franca. Ethiopia was never colonized it is simple as thatEven after showing you how wrong is that popular statement. ok continue. Ethiopia was colonized by Italy as a result of the Second Italo-Ethiopian War during Mussolini’s regime in Fascist Italy. |
tylann:it is rather military occupations which involve land controlling, running the affairs of goverment, appointing representative and overseeing economical activities. how does that make it difference from colonization? |
tylann:Not true, Ethiopian history is filled with war. Mostly external invasion and Internal conflicts. Ethiopians have to fight the Italians, the British, Egyptians, Ottomans, Sudanese, Somalis, Eritreans and with little left over time with each other. Britain and italy never colonized Ethiopia those were just wars and short occupationsThe eastern region of Ethiopia was colonized by the British. The northern part of the region called Haud and the rest Ogaden, named after the group of people that inhabit it was also colonized Haud was part of British Somaliland. Ogaden was part of Italian Somaliland for a more than four years , when Italian Somaliland which included the eastern portion of present-day Ethiopia . |
tylann:Historical data available suggest otherwise. it was colonised. it has touched of both british and Italian. though not as much as other african state. Civil wars is there own problem they could solve they issues logically without picking up armsit is easeir said than done. The United States has been quite bellicose, and its advanced democracy did not prevent a civil war in 1861 ...sometime the available option needed to forge ahead is war. well it may seems unpopular |
tylann:The belief that Ethiopia was never colonized is a popular one but it is untrue. Kenya economy comes to a standstill everyyearYet you cant still compare a country that face 9 civil war with kenya. it is dishonest to do so.. |
rvp2018:it is an excuse, a typical example of that is what Liberia is currently experiencing, due to the known Liberia civil war, investors are scared of setting up business there due to uncertainty. same thing is happening in Nigeria north East, only few people will be willing to invest there currently. even inter trade among Nigeria states has reduce drastically. Drought too is a also a contributing factor |
rvp2018:political differences deserve the blame |
rvp2018:i am only explaining Ethiopia issue with you, which i know of very well. and as regards to Tanzania economy, you may need an expert on that |
tylann:That can't be taken out of the fact that the civil war contribute to the sluggish development of their economy. Ethiopia government become stable only from the past 26 years now unlike kenya.. |
rvp2018:interesting,, Putting aside the very real human cost, war has serious economic costs – loss of buildings, infrastructure, a decline in the working population, uncertainty, rise in debt and disruption to normal economic activity whoch i think contribute to the sliggish development of Ethiopia. it has potential to have more bigger gdp than ethiopia due to population. |
obaaderemi:Dont you tbink it is dishonest to compare both country. kenya and Ethiopia. Ethiopia has seen more than 9 civil war. The number of wars aside, it has only had a functional Government for 26 years. They don’t seem to be doing a terrible job anyway at present. |
samsobo24:the word big brother in this context is not applicable. china has the biggest GDP in Asia continent but she there not claim a big brother role among asia tiger's. yes is population is intimidating BUT its economy is not superior neither its development. i am a dual citizen'. |
obaaderemi:is Ethiopia the second largest? |
samsobo24:You don't measure a country by his outer appearance alone, you have to look inward to check how the people are fearing. if so we can say dubai is more developed than london. which everyone know it is not true. The true measure of a developed society is to observe the people that live in the country and not the appearance of the country itself. The biggest consumers of luxury products in africa are Nigerian people, not ghanian or kenyans. The more developed you are the less need you have to validate your self worth with materialism. The less desire you have to spend thousands of dollars on your children's schooling just to send them to be educated abroad. The less need to travel to countries like united kingdom or USA for giving birth so that your child becomes a US or british citizen, or to launder your money by buying up real estate in other countries. Developed countries do not need to do things like that. this is what Nigerians are known for. |
theenchanter:sure, i agree with you. GDP per capital also is good indicator, that canot be taken out. |
theenchanter:That is debatable., especially when you factor in inequality and equality. |
obaaderemi:As long as i will defend Nigeria if lies were written against it. i will also criticized it when needed. Nigeria is not king of africa and it is proven in all ramifications. A step outside Nigeria will tell you more. Nigeria is the biggest economy, but it is not the best economy. Nigeria has the largest economy partially because they are the most populated country in Africa. About one in 5 Africans is Nigeria. Nigeria has about 180 million people today. . ...Kenyan on nairaland are contesting the figure. To know the biggest economy, look at their overall GDP. To know the best economy, look at their GDP per capita. |
Bravennice:The only way i know to there is thru education. try middle sex university Mauritius branch. it is UK university. |
rvp2018:this is even enough to answer this, Nigeria is a nation in a very precarious state. it has one of the porous borders in africa and that made it possible for illegal immigrant, undocumented people from neighboring countries to find their ways into the country. This in this case is not an issue in Ghana. Ghana has praga which border it to burkina faso, elubo which border it to Abidjan and aflao which boarder it to lome. and all these boarders are well secured. . can't say much of kenya. Nigeria has so many unregistered boarders. ogun state as a whole has more than five rought to Benin republic. |
Just30:good, this data is taken from statistical service. right. do you know ghana population is currently 29 .5 milliom according to tbe statistics. agency |
Jonraid:The Nigeria bureau of statistics is the responsible agency for that even if it is not realiable. using the past figure which is 140 million in 2006 and a population growth of about 2 percent yearly according to United nation. you should arrive at your figure. even if at all, you doubted the figure, you may decide to subtract an amount of 20 millions from the first data, which i think it is too much, the number you will still get should stull be between 180/182 million |
rvp2018:This is not a rigourous way to determine the amount of people living in non homegenuous society like Nigeria. Nigeria has a country is completely different from Ghana and kenya., and when it comes to moblie phone subscriber. you forgotten to take note of the accont that more than half of Nigeria youth are under 30. ( which means this is a high chance that there still exist an high percentage of Nigerians who are not mobile subscriber and likewise the old ages. you are not factoring all this inclusive the trusted way to conduct census is the one obtained by demographic technique called population projection. countriy with highly non reliable vital registration and immigration and emigration records like Nigeria may even be underestimated. |
Jonraid:A sensible question there... Nigeria fragile political structure and the Federal Government poor budgetary allocation may be some of the reasons. The only credible statistics we have as of now it is the one from Nigeria bureau of statistics. why? because it is the only government official representative on such account. i agree to some extent, there may be some margins of error, but this error can not be over balloon because of economical implication. And if you go by the united nations data, Nigeria population is growing by 2 percent per year , so just do tbe calculations with a lesser gap of 20million from 2006 and see what we get, it should give you nothing less than 180 million people. |
rvp2018:.You need to be educated first before we can argue. i will only argue with you when i sense a presence of inteligence in you , until then, i will be correcting your ignorance by educatiing you. |
rvp2018:You in particular have been pulling a lot of crap and bullshit from your anus and calling it a valid point. i am here to correct that hogwash of yours, your silly attempts to rubbed Nigeria in the mud by telling the Nigerian statistical data is unreliable is unfashionable. because we aren't delluded to be brainwashed. you went in there , insert your hands into your anus and brought out a links without examine it what other credible evidence available. just because the Articule state what pleases your preconsive ignorance. the only reliable data on Nigeria population is Nigeria bureau of statistics. and anything contrary to that is a statement of ignorance. even if at all, there is a margin of error for political benefit, it should be within the minimum acceptance because of economical implication. |
rvp2018:Nothing is self evident here, if you can't provide a reliable figure that state otherwise. you don't make argument on a personal statement. that is consider a child joke. work with proven statistics and lets examine such evidence. CIA can only forcast figure based on the available evidence. if the current populations figure is wrong ttben their projection will be wrong too. |
rvp2018:The list i gave you wasn't dead. you may need to go revisit it again. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/print_ni.html you haven't give a valid reasons as to why the number is fake, you cant just compose a statement and hold it as true. if you have gotten the fact that is opposite of that figure, present it here , and lets examine it. |
rvp2018:You still have no reasons to believe otherwise, CIA is an America inteligent unit which is much interested in Nigeria figure for economical reasons, it makes them plan ahead in the matter of investment or any issues that relate to economical benefit. . there was a time Nigeria was recorded to be a suitable ground to japan for a direct investment . these are part of tbe statistics study to come with such conclusion. Lagos state roughly may even be more than that figure, if uncounted figure like thousands of birth and deaths that still go unrecorded on a daily basis are factored in. |
Kur17:do you really think the west really care about African development, our woes are their succes one just need to listen to news networks and one will seldom see an African country making headline news for anything but its internal strife, war or some rampant plague like Ebola. War is often a cause of “influence”, but obviously for all the wrong reasons. |
rvp2018:There is no reasons to believe otherwise. at leat if Nigeria goverment can not be trusted. this is American agent accepting the data. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ni.html. |
