I am so much interested with the atheist website for weeks now. the websites(withheld) are full of brilliant views and logic analysis to debunk the believe of Christian and Muslim god. I try as much as possible to look for an atheist website that has anything to do with African traditional faith, but it seems non exist. .......... I will like to have a friendly discussion with any willing nairaland atheist. most of you guys here on nairaland are brilliant. the subject of the discussion can be on anything interesting. Christian and Muslim are all welcome. and likewise my African traditionalist can contribute. babalawo .you are invited. |
Nigeria has a population of roughly 180 million. she has over 100 universities with new ones springing up daily. There's nothing wrong with our higher education and the earlier admission process that produce the likes of wole Soyinka and chinua Achebe without jamb. The only downfall is the current higher education and the new admission process that require student to pass another additional exams after the major exams waec. it makes a lot of students become more over burden or even fraudulent in nature since they are so much eager to by pass the proliferation market. the current higher education cant get them an actual job, especially if it is below their degree. A lot of educated Nigerians sit at home because there are no vacancies that attach with their degree. sir a developed country is measure with educated citizens with stable income and you can realize that by sending them to vocational school. Nigeria has more doctor and lawyer than electricians or even software developer. All these kind of professions are relevant to the industrial, commercial and economic needs of Nigeria and sadly they're done by foreigners. We have multiple universities but we don't have a school were you can learn how to become an electrician, construction worker or even a plumber. Nigeria is unique in its own way, so lets make our own master plan. These professions should make their way into Nigeria-IT-plumbers electricians-Construction workers-cabinetmakers-upholsterer-Mechanics-FARMING- All kind of crafts should be included in our university curriculum .there should be a campaign to motivate Nigerians to work with their own hands and start contributing to the economy. one of the best way to achieved this is to upgrade our polytechnic to university standard so that student can see the beauty of polytechnic. it can be renamed as technical university. hands dey pain me. any good contributor |
emmanuelzi:bible isn't a yardstick to measure truthfulness. |
greatnaija01:can you comprehend yourself. your bible god does not make sense. it simply wisdom. oduma |
Being a practitioner of an African tradition it’s inevitable to be asked for proof that that my belief system is valid. As if anybody’s spirituality can be, or even has to be, proven. And without doubt the people who ask for proof are Christians and that will ask for some biblical proof that my African tradition is indeed a legitimate spirituality.Recently I was asked to list scripture and verse that would prove Ifa is legitimate. I was taught that to question the Christian doctrine is to show a lack of faith which is a sin in god’s judgment. And the slightest trace of fickleness is enough to condemn a person, especially an impressionable young kid trying to take his spiritual development seriously. So it stands to reason that I’d have great difficulty finding the bible verse that says Ifa is the true faith and Christianity is not the way.Instead of wasting time trying to find such a bible verse, I asked for biblical proof that requires a non Christian to provide the Christian believer proof and I asked for nonbiblical proof that the bible is truly the word of god.My Christian questioner admitted that there is no biblical requirement that the non Christian believer prove their beliefs. Everyone is entitled to believe whatever they see fit. But my second query, the one asking about non biblical proof that the bible is the word of god, received a numberof bible verses as a response that would have made any Christian proud. The only problem is that a Christian already believesin the bible so it would be a moot point. I was asking for non-biblical proof that the bible is the word of god. If one already believes that the bible is the true word of god then it isn’t a problem to believe that everything written in it is the word of god. But on the other hand, if you are trying to convince someone who may be skeptical about the authenticity of the bible as god’sword then someone quoting scripture maynot actually be the best way to convince the nonbeliever. The way I understand it, the bible is a history book filled with excerpts from a number of writers. I would expect a historybook to be accurate. If its not then it is a work of fiction and we must ask ourselves why are we bothering to study it so much? There are other writers of ancient verses who have not been added to this list of bible authors. For example, the scripture according to Judas is not included in the bible. The same is true for the scripture according to Mary Magdalene. While it is a common belief that Judas betrayed Jesus and then ran off to kill him self as depictedin Matthew 27:5, the scripture according toJudas appears to be evidence that Judas not only survived the crucifixion of Jesus but wrote about the event from his own perspective. The fact that Judas had time to put pen to paper and spread his own verses should be one example of some of the human influence to manipulate scripture. To add insult to injury the bible has gone through translations and through many interpretations and reinterpretations so that the accuracy of the original scripture may not be as correct and free of translators prejudice as it should be . find if difficult to be inspired by a book written three thousand years ago about things that happened two thousand years ago. I would be much more impressed if the bible was making more timely prophesies. And if the ability to predict prophesy is a factor for inclusion then why not added the gospel according to Nostradamus? Many people claim that Nostradamus predicted many events such as the collapse of the World Trade Center. But nobody is saying that Nostradamus is man of god and his writings should be added to the Christian bible. Therefore, I can only conclude that there is a specific and narrowly defined set of criteria of what's acceptable for inclusion. for me, the bottom line is that there are many more authors with spiritually inspired writings that are not included in the bible than those who are included. I believe I would be severely limiting myself if I only accepted the writings of the bible as the only source for spiritual inspiration. Back in Sunday school, I learned that the Christian god knows all. He is omniscient. But for some reason the bible is full of examples where god has to test the devotion of various bible characters. Genesis 22 tells the story of Abraham and Isaac where god wants to test Abraham’s devotion by telling him to sacrifice his son. Coming from a god that is supposed to know all and a god that is supposed to love people and provide for people, this sounds seriously cruel. Imagine what you would feel, how you would feel, if god came to you and told you to murder your only son. Imagine how heavy that burden would feel. And then you discover god, who already knows your heart, wants to put you through unnecessary grief. If god knows all why does he have to subject people to such cruel testing? Why is god so insecure that he requires such confirmation and assurances? In my own talks with god, I have found him to be anything but the insecure Supreme Being that I learned of in Sunday school so many years ago. The god that I have had the pleasure of communing with is quite comfortable in the knowledge of who he is and what he is. The god I know isn’t addicted to praise and prayer, especially not from anything as fickle and deceptive as the average human being. God isn’t about proving his sovereignty over anyone. That would be like somebody going around trying to prove to ants how sovereign he or she is. It’s truly not important for anybody to rule ants that are just trying to go about their day. By the same token it’s not important for the Supreme Being to rule over us.If someone believes in the Christian bible and that truly works for them then they are truly fortunate. However, the conversation with god didn’t stop when that last period was made in the book of Revelations. I believe that spirituality continues to inspire us on a constant basis if we would just take the time to remove all distractions, sit still, and open our minds to it. i find it difficult to develop spirituality when I allow myself to be relegated to the spirituality of the words in the bible written three thousand years ago and translated over the years into various languages by various mindsets. Those words are proof of somebody else’s spirituality put to paper in a totally different time. What does spirituality have to day about it |

ReubenE:yes there is 1/65 probability the witter is mad and likewise you if you are Nigerian |
MurderEnglish:we all are trying to mad at the same time. hilarious statement from your quote. |
MurderEnglish:in other word. you agree with the ratio .65 percent Nigerians are mad . |
MurderEnglish:if I can get you. do you mean the madness is Democratically justify |
No be me write dis one oh, nah copy I copy am... A friend wrote this: If you've been following what has been happening in Nigeria since 1960, you don't need to be told that 65% of Nigerians are MAD. The cause I don't know but here are some evidence: 1. Will a normal Nigerian be supporting a former president even with the overwhelming evidence of corruption levelled against him? MADNESS. 2. Can a normal Senate President be going to the same court with the same case repeatedly in order to delay a corruption case levelled against him? MADNESS. 3. Will a normal human being set his landlady and others ablaze simply because she prevented her daughter from dating him? MADNESS. 4. Will a normal marketer mix kerosene with aviation fuel in order to make huge profit not minding the repercussions? MADNESS. 5. How can a former Head of State embezzle over N500 billion and at the age of over 60? Where's he taking the money to? MADNESS. 6. How can someone say he want his people to secede from Nigeria and install a radio transmitter on an MTN mast and call it Biafra radio? MADNESS. 7. How can a Military General, that swore to uphold the unity of his Country, start a secession war but later ran away from the battle front, still come back to the country he once said he want his people to secede from and contest for President? MADNESS. 8. Can a normal person go to the fuel station unclad just because he wants to buy fuel and some mad people still stand behind him at the filling station instead of running for their lives. I wonder what the story could have been if the guy had a lighter with him. MADNESS. 9. Can a normal father rape his daughter? MADNESS. 10. Can a normal Minister of finance approve bail out fund without asking for some austerity measures and hoping the states won't ask for more? MADNESS. 11. Can a normal State Governor conduct an irrelevant LG election at the cost of over N6 billion but the same Governor can't pay workers over 4 months salary? MADNESS. 12. Can a normal President of a country say stealing is not corruption? MADNESS. 13. A certain State Governor couldn't pay workers' salaries for over 5 months but was quick to award a N6 billion contract for the building of a fly over where there's no traffic jam. MADNESS. 14. How can a normal religious group attempt to stop a convoy of an army Chief with ordinary stick? MADNESS. 15. How can a dreaded group say Western education is a sin and still use camera to shoot their videos and use AK 47 riffles as their weapon of choice? MADNESS. 16. Can a normal group of people say they're fighting for their people because oil Companies degrade their environment, by blowing up pipelines to degrade the same environment? MADNESS. 17. Where on earth will a Policeman use live bullets on peaceful protesters and still say 'police is your friend'? MADNESS. 18. Where on earth will a normal driver overtake on a sharp bend/corner and while probably making calls on his phone? MADNESS. 19. How can over 100 lawyers and 24 SAN accompany their colleague who is charged to Court with bribery allegation? MADNESS. 20. How can over 80 SAN storm a Court in defence of a Senate President accused of stealing, abuse and mismanagement of office? MADNESS. 21. Can a normal Customs Authority destroy seized rice, turkey, cooking oil, clothing whereas our IDPS , motherless babies, poor and hungry Nigerians are in abundance? MADNESS. 22. jamb cut off point reduce to 120 from 180 without logical justification NB Beware, many around you are mad but few roam the streets. Be careful when relating with people. Add yours to keep the fun going. |
who should we blame ?our intellectual or the so called politicians? some of our scholars do not pass through the hands of ijamba of jamb. whatever it is the name. wole Soyinka and chinua Achebe do not partake in ijamba(wahala)before they become whom they are today. a student had been tested in about 9 subject with three different examination body. which I even called over burden and proliferation. this same student will still need to write and pass another four subject he already pass earlier. what a crazy system. either 120 or 180. it is total useless. universities should be given autonomy to set their standard. students should be given free will to choose as much university they like so far they can buy the form. if not, Ghana,Malaysia and benin republic will be best alternative from this collapsed syetem |
It was reminiscent of the exploits and bravery of ibadan warrior in 1850, efunsetan Aniwura a native of ibadan, Oyo state last Saturday in Togo, when a 37-year-old woman single-handedly arrested a soldier in a demonstration at Sokode in the central part of the country. This happened when some Togolese soldiers opened fire at demonstrators who had taken to the street to protest the dynasty of Gnassingbe family in the country. Seven people died as a result of the protest, while several others sustained various degrees of injuries. but this woman, who was part of the demonstration, showed bravery like efunsetan when she arrested one of the soldiers who fired tear gas and live bullets at the protesters to disperse them. The woman was seen dragging the s oldier on the ground, while the demonstrators and passersby looked at her in amazement. The demonstrators were against the perpetual stay of President Faure Gnassingbe who has been in power in the West African country since the death 2005 of his father, Gnassingbe Eyadema, who also ruled Togo for 38years.The protesters, clad in the colours of the largest opposition Parti National Pan-Africain (PNP) party, called on the president to step down, saying “50 years is too much.”They also called for the reinstatement of some provisions in the country’s constitution which will limit the president to have more powers. According to them, the 1992 Constitution of the country brought in a national multi-party democracy after decades of dictatorship and limited presidential terms to two, but ten years later, lawmakers amended it to enable Eyadema to run for another term. They alleged that after the death of Eyadema the military effectively manipulated the constitution by installing his [Eyadema’s] son, as interim President instead of the head of the national assembly as was legally required by the law.

pinkylovely:Ghana education system is a top notch when compared to her Nigeria counterpart. although not yet excellent to be term as the best. much need to be done. private universities in Ghana are regulated by public universities. per the law, a private university must be under a public university for a period of 10 years and must seek Parliament approval before she can award her own degree. this mean you will be graduating with a degree awarded by public university though you attend private uni. so the difference are not much. you can study in Ghana as Low as hundred thousand naira and as high as 2 million naira depending on the school you choose. public school are likely to be very expensive including some private uni that has a strong link with foreign uni. if finance is your constraint, I will advice you to choose local affiliated private uni. Ghana and Nigeria both practise British model of education. the duration of a non professional degree is four years while professional degree ranges from five to six years. remember your first year is non score. that is it has little to do with your remaining three years cumulative point. i doubt any private uni offer biological education as a degree except public ones. the private uni tend to major on modern discipline. so the the public uni is your best option. I will recommend university of education winneba and university of cape coast to you if you have the ability.since you want to major in biological education. they are the two main teacher training university in Ghana . scholarship option is very slim except you are extra ordinary student. |
Protein0:I mean it again. it is still very hard to believe .Ghanaian's student will not pick Nigeria university for any reason unless the student in question has a Nigeria background. waec is still only means to test the performance of both country. taking the lead in three times consecutively in waec result is a very a good standard. Ghana is s hub of education in west Africa sub region. the foreign exchange program among Americans, British and Ghanian student speak a whole lot of the standard. education is a source of national income to Ghana economy and that should tell you a lot of the standard the government has put in place for it. Ghana is currently a serving as an education tourist for west Africa French countries likewise Cameroon, Gabon and Kenya. |
Protein0:you are bias in your comment. a scholarship for a Ghanian student in Nigeria university. this is very hard to believe . Nigeria universities are not an option for average Ghanian planning to study abroad . And the stereotypes of corruption in Nigeria universities is a well known case over there . the best way to judge Ghanian and Nigeria education system will be through WAEC. Ghana school outperform her Nigeria counterpart. at least for a record of three years consecutive. |
Pidgin2:Do you do statistics in your colledge. I guess no. if a country of 25 million population with 14 public universities has a representative among best 25. what is wrong with a country with over 100 universities not to have 10 uni taking the top 25. statistically Ghana has best university than Nigeria given her ratio. also note that Ghana has been a home of foreign exchange among student from university of new York and so many schools from the USA and UK. no doubt Ghana is an education hub in west Africa sub region. a place of recommendation among the French of west Africa. Kenya Gabon and Cameroonian student are in Ghana. Ghana itself is earning more on education far ahead than the giant Nigeria .it might be the fourth largest source of income to Ghana economy after cocoa , Gold and oil .Ghana is even a home of franchise to some UK and USA university. contact me I will guide you. you don't need to go to UK or USA before you get their degree. |
NigerianScholar:yes you can with you grade. but private uni will be a better option like Franklin uni or Webster uni. you don't even need to go to america to obtain an American degree, you can obtain it here in Ghana . Webster uni has a branch in Ghana to grant you the same degree. it is less expensive and closer to home. you can decide to graduate in the USA. mail me if you want to know more. |
freshest4live:no calabar is located in south southern part of Nigeria not eastern part. though the word south south to described geographical location only exist in Nigeria. |
Lancyboy:No serious university will accept an HND for a master program not even our local university. be careful of bogus university .This is my advice to you . convert your HND into degree first then apply with it. they are some cheap UK university that can do it for you as quick as possible. Greenwich and London metropolitan uni are there for you to check . base on European credit transfer system. an HND credit point is not up to 210 credit point which is the total credit point of a degree in the Europe. this is even the reason while some uni are refusing to accept Nigeria local degree. at times, Nigeria candidate with bachelor are made to undergo another 6 month program to bridge up the credit point before they can start their master. |
Deadprez:wait dangote posses a university degree from Cairo university in business administration. I will start with this. education is important. education can be both formal or informal. university education is formal . meaning it has a regulate standard. well university degree is overrated as you right point it. success in life does not directly link to a university degree. however university education also play a long role in nation development especially if it is well managed. |
shervydman:yeah, but you guys are still keeping this thread alive. |
obojememe:To be a good manager it required continuous learning since the word is dynamic. so one week management course will be a bad idea . sure there is different between talent and skills. talent Is an inborn while skills is earn through learning and training. to be good manager you should have both the inborn elements and the required skills. there is a different between talented player and a skillful player when it comes to football. |
obojememe:no you will lack the managerial skills. CNN interview mark Facebook founder. And he said the only reason he could attribute his success to are his friends who help him in the managerial field. not even the high level programing computer language. you as a human even need good management if not you will collapsed . |
obojememe:lol. but on a serious note I prefer business administration to medicine. a business man will build a hospital and employed a medical doctor. and this doctor will earn salary not even up the business man monthly expenses. the best course in the world is B A. every thing in this world is selling and buying |
genieluv:i disagree with you. if you understand the trend of his business you will realise he is higly favored than the rest. Do you think adenuga is not smart or has s good barganing skills. Do you know what is non tarrif barrier? This policy is seriously favouring dangote cement. It is impossible for any country to import similar product of dangote to nigeria. Do you know how many telicommunication network in nigeria. Infact nigeria govt is giving 30 percent subsidy to encourage exportation which, dangote is currently enjoying |
genieluv:he is not smarter than adenuga nor brillant than otedola. he is just furtunate to move with elite nigerians. Nigeria goverment contribute to his success largely. imagine geting a goverment land at apapa lagos. a very vibrant enviroment . he himself will forever hold gratitude to the federal govt |
iblawi:they are not growing but developing. a new development in africa will likely take place in south africa before any part of africa. |
shervydman:YES. it is vice versa . student always complain |
shervydman:i know waec do have two options. objective and theory aspect. The objective is the same while the theory are diffrent. Ghana own is not cheaper comparing to nigeria. It only meet the standard requirement for that year. They are at times ghanian wish nigerian questions were for them. |
shervydman:yes at a very minimum extent.using ghana and nigeria as an example. but in seniour high school. The program is design to to meet waec standard for those countries sitting for it. |

but what is paining me very well that is we all are trying to mad at the same time. It is highest time we will stopped all these.
