firstly a degree is not a requirement to become a job seeker rather a job employer. Four years degree is enough to equip you solidly to create a job for yourself even if you cant get one.

Iam not aware as the fed. Government implementing students loans but I do know Kaduna state has it a'a one of the options to encourage youths to further their education

yes bursaries is a free stipend giving to university student. the intention is not to cover your fees but to help you along with it.

NHIS is pratically not working in nigeria i repeat . ok do you have one？ i am not yet a tax payer in ghana but i own one which is acceptable by the private hospital

yes, Nigerian govt offers free education up till sec sch, and govt "heavily subsidized" tertiary institution fees to the lowest.even with that, the govt still give u bursary(grant, free money) to pay the subsidized school fees.

now, is that not free education till tertiary institution unlike loans where u have to pay back after some time?

you are twisting the angle again. in ghana public school are also subsidized. no public universities is paying more than 700 cedis in a section. Govt heavily subisidized it. Yet govt still offer loan to student who are not eligible to pay the low fees or student of private uni who pay up to 2000cedis per semester

Some northern states and oil producing states in Nigeria really emburse their students heavily with annual bursaries.***** buh really, how can students pay back loans when they are not working?

goverment has a good database of each induvidual enrol into ghana universities through NAB. and also has complete database of student who enjoy student loan through registration. You pay back base on the agreement you made with the govt. It can be immideatly you get a job or even before you complete your degree. All depends on your capacity. Payment is usally in form of installment plan. Or paying at once if you can. You provide two guarantor who paid regular tax. They will stand for you in case you run away. But if death occur the debt will be wipe off. Your name is likely to be published in the daily if you do not pay on time according to your plan. The body send several warning before doing it anyway.

Bursary is not a clever policy becuse it might not cover all your needs. Imagine a medical student receiving a bursary of 20k. What will he do with it.

there was a time that china had issues with that student loan, I'm not even sure if they've rectified it. u see, a container u use to fill water in a 5L bucket can never be used to fill a 500L tank. if u understand what i'm saying.

i will disagree with you. Usa case make your example unacceptable. If nigeria goverment can offer free education system to secondry level and rochas okorocha is offering it to university level in imo state what stop the federal govt. Even if it should be in form of loan.


Nigeria is a rich country and should be able to do it better than ghana. Usa offer student loan even if it is harvard priv university.


If you are illiterate in ghana. It is not becuse of fees it is becuse of the life you have choosen.. China might not be doing it well.if there is no good layout plan. you learn from those who are successful doing it.

When it come to health insurance policy or student loan usa perform woefully compare to UK. Do you even know despite free german universities. German still offer student loan to her qualify citizens.

sure that is why i said nigeria govt need to implement student loan so that the needy can benefit. am aware average family sends their ward to convenant due to quality and security assurance.

Some states governments even send students abroad and pay every penny even their food and monthly allowance. This runs into millions of naira.

interesting if private uni receive bursaries. that is good direction. Anyway this is my first time to know about it. The state govt sending their ward abroad is scholarship and not bursaries. So it does not apply to all indigene.

like when I was in unilorin.....my school fee in my second year was 15,800 and I collected close to 20k from Lagos state govt.

this is my point. what about a lagos indigene paying up to 500k in convenant uni. What will such student do with 20k busaries. Or dont you think education should be for all.

You are truly not a Nigerian. Some students get bursary of over N250,000. Northerners even get more since they have fewer students.

Many state government send students abroad for post graduate studies and the pay everything including their feeding.

Even at N20,000, that is still enough to pay more than half of the school fees if not all.

ogbeni am not talking about federal govt or state scholarship here. am aware river state ,bayelsa , delta ,kano ,sokoto and jigawa are sending their ward on scholarship to ghana ,malaysia, egypt ,sudan and india on scholarship. Ghana also do it. But ghana ensure it is good country like cuba, russia ,uk and germany.

whao 250k for busaries.that is good if that is true. but those that amount be given to student of private school. do all state pay up to that amount to their ward . for example lasu fees is up to 250k . Its lagos paying up to that. Oau is now around 100k for freshers do osun state pay up to that amount.

i have,already make it,clear in my post that i may be prone to mistake. How much do they pay in those school i will like to know. It is student loan we are talking about here not busaries. I dont undersand how some of you even pass basic exam.even the busaries does it cover private uni.
