I know Cameroon isn't an ECOWAS member, I only listed the countries that would be mostly affected just like crying and beggarly Ghana.

Kasapreko and other companies would soon leave Ghana to relocate to Nigeria because of this single move.
Guy shout up, Ghana goods was allowed into Nigeria successfully yesterday and another meeting is expected to take up tomorrow where Nigeria customs and Ghana officials will work on the modalities of operation.

So you are even daft as I expect. I only repeat what you wrote by quoting them. if you are aren't an iliiterate yourself, don't you see the quote as a reference as to what you yourself type down.

you are the fool because you keep making senseless arguments because you have already made up your mind where you are going and so did not take time to read what i wrote.

where did i say a country can move forward with poor electricity infrastructure? you either show the post or apologise.

What I said if you care to read again is lack of electricity is NOT A DEAL BREAKER for ALL manufacturing industries. Some yes, some no. Go back and learn English comprehension again!!!
And i said you are stupid with such reasoning? electricity is the major infrastructure for any industry. the demand at which it is used may vary . be it minimal or optimal from basic computer to advance warehouse, all need the presence of electricity for smooth buisness running, so foolishly saying a lack of electricity is not a ""deal broker"" shows you are stupid yourself.
PoliticsRe: Border Closure: Northern Textile Traders Say They Stand To Lose Over N3 Trillion by vaxx2: 12:18pm On Nov 03, 2019
isthatso:
so how do you explain the industries producing today?

get a brain. if you can run your plants on diesel and still make a profit, lack of electricity will not halt your business, have you ever heard that cola or guiness or Unilever are leaving Nigeria because there is no electricity? There are some industries that cannot survive on Generators, e.g those requiring furnaces but not every industry is the same.
The only problem with you is your porous thinking. Do you know how many workers will have been working with Guinness, Coca-Cola and the others you mentioned . Do you know how many they will have employed assuming there is no additional money going for diesel and petrol? the extra cost will have been used to empower more staffs and bring in more employment therefore contributing to the nation pulse thru tax and other incentives.

You stupidly think any country can develop with poor electricity infrastructure ? unilever product are mostly from Ghana

my friend stop talking out of ignorance, power is only a factor if fuel is a significant portion of your input costs. Not every industry is heavily geared to power as an input cost. No doubt power is a factor for some industries but interest rates, poor bank lending, smuggled goods are bigger impediments to the majority of industries than power. So stop making blanket statements
once you can reason let me know?

without electricity infrastructure, your industrialization agenda is in jeopardy.

is it power bank Dangote or innoson or Glo or MTNare using power their industries? if you want to make a way you will make a way, if your objectives are to blame and find excuses, you will not lack for scapegoats. If you stop the people spoiling your market(smugglers) you will have incentives to go back to manufacturing/ farming.
Do you know what will have been those company revenue if there is constant supply of electricity to their company? Do you know how many Nigerians will be working there if more revenue is forth coming? The failure to power Nigeria is the reason unemployment is skyrocketing. how can I employed more when i run lots of cash fuelling my industrial generator with monthly maintenance.

BUSINESSARENAA:
I once said that the closure of these borders is not a properly thought idea, but some ignorant entities were ranting up and down.

Rice is not the only commodity that passes through a border. There are a lot of genuine business that passes through the land border.

If you are importing or exporting to some of the west African countries, it's easier and more cost effective to use the land boarders than the sea port.

Imagine a man exporting textiles to Ghana from Kano, how possibly will he do that through the sea port in APAPA?

I am totally against rice smuggling but the government should have come up with smarter ideas to deal with this issue, and not shutting down the whole boarder.

Presently I have about two trailers of hides and skin from Mali parked at the boarder incurring bills, with high possibility of spoiling within the shortest period of time because of its present condition.

How do I import from Mali to Nigeria through the seaport?

It is only those that does not understand what happens at the land boarders that are jumping up and down.

Once again I reiterate my stance against smuggling rice through the boarders, but we have to be more tactical in handling certain issues as regards to our economy.

This boarder issue in Nigeria is like a fly perching on a man's scrotal sack, you have to apply wisdom in dealing with it, if not you may end up hurting yourself terribly bad if you hit it with great force.
The best opinion on This case so far on this thread.

maasoap:
You are neither here nor there. You talked about how Nigeria depends massively on importation of things, from rice to bananas, smartphones to university education (lol). I took you up on that, out of nowhere, you suddenly remembered "comparative advantage", SSS class topic in Economics. You didn't remember that when you brought up the issue of Nigeria being a consuming nation rather a producing nation with a population of 200 million people.
Now, back to the issue of comparative advantage. Nigeria is a blessed nation with fertile soil, adequate rainfall, more than enough human resources. We have comparative advantage in production of many items, from agriculture to manufacturing. It is just that we're just not serious individuals that made up this nation. An average Nigerian businessman believes in importation and quick profits instead of investing in production and wait few years after that before reaping the benefits. Don't we have land and resources to produce enough rice, bananas, palm oil, chicken, turkey, meat? Of course, we do. We're the ones supplying your country gas to power your country's energy sector. Don't we have comparative advantage over you in that aspect if not that we're not serious. And I meant it.
Talking about university education, we read how "Containers Universities" are springing up in your country as a result of Nigerians incessant appetite for foreign degrees. Does that mean that your higher educational centers with containers as classrooms are better than what we have here?
So you really want to engaged me and you come up So cheap this way?. .

YOUR lack of comprehension made you think I am talking about Nigeria dependence on importation alone , my theorem is simply about Nigeria economy largely centralized on importation and exportation...

now the knolwedge you some how failed in your sssce; as it show. let me make it a bit flexible for you? comparative advantage is not about what you are doing more than other per se or what others can't really do.. Comparative advantage is the idea that countries can have an advantage over others with respect to the production of a particular good *in relation to* their production of other goods, even if it is costlier for them to produce. Nigeria produce oil, but it is more costlier to refined it, so the advantage here shows Nigeria had to import more of refined oil to a country capable of producing it in exchange of Nigeria crude oil. that is the simple basic. it is not that Nigeria is not serious about developing, the mechanism to develop in Nigeria is not available right from basic technology down to advance infrastructure like common water , electricity, literacy and health care access. developed country has a low population rate against its GDP. Now to correct you further, Ghana had stop tapping Nigeria gas , it has developed its own Gas plant since Nigeria failed to honour its quest. that is aberration of contract. a failure form Nigeria.

regarding your last statement about container university? it is either Nigeria education system is whack or the parent and guardians of those sending those kids to container uni in Ghana as you put it are sick upstairs, one will surely be the case but whatsoever that is not Ghana problem, it is Nigeria headache. London metropolitan university in the UK is not up to my secondary school in size and land but it will be unintelligent to called it a container university. university isn't. about structure but about access to quality education.
