So for this road test, will you guys advice I get a trainer to show me rules or I should use my discretion and practice more on road test via knowledge test. Just note I've been driving for over 6 yrs now. I'm good at driving grin
vcole blackbuddy
Well, I've been driving for longer than 6yrs and I can say I'm a good driver not naija crazy type. Then i drove here for almost 90 days before my road test. If you read the book, watch youtube vids for clarification on rules you aren't sure of you'll be fine. However, I'll advice you get ab instructor for one session before your road test. I had one session for an hour just before my road test so he could point out any errors but I realized later that some instructors know the possibke route the road test examiner would take you through so it's worth paying for.

Thank you Sir,

I guess I'm gonna do as you suggested. It is just so frustrating that I had to pay through my ears to get the Swiss licence and I'm gonna have to pay again to for Canadian licence.

By the way, thanks for the good work. I have benefitted immensely form your (and other senior colleagues) insights.
You'll take the basic road test and when you have up to 24 months you'll go back and take the advanced road test. So if you land at 18 months, then after 60 days uou would have 20 months. You exchange it for a Gdl or G2 license and after 4 months go back and take d advanced test and get a full G license. Confirm with the registry on arrival first that you can do this.

Hi Adeza,

Congrats on your bundle of joy cheesy

Please what was the process of applying for child benefits? I thought one is only eligible after filing tax returns. Did you file tax returns immediately you landed.

I'll appreciate if you can give a little more detail on this.

Thanks.

Tax returns for the current year are filed between jan1 and april 30th of the following year. So tax returns for 2017 should be filed on or before april 30th 2018. If a pr landed in 2017 then s/he would file taxes next year. For child benefit, you don't need to have filed taxes if you are a newly landed immigrant, the form would explain to you how to declare your income prior to landing in Canada.

Guys,

My fiance just got an ADR for proof of funds, he only submitted a single Tbillz certificate for all the money.

What documents would be appropriate to send them to clarify?
6 months statement of his bank account(s) alongside reference letter from the issuing bank(s). If he had bulk sum deposits over the past 6 months, letters of explanation from him with details of bulk deposits amd why they occured and where the funds came from (and from the depositor[s] if possible) would be a very good idea.

Ordered GCMS notes. Got it in 30 days.

The issue now is that it is confusing me. Why do they repeat one thing like 1 billion times?

Please any tips on how to fully digest these notes?
Lol!!!! Read the first 1-2 pages. It usually has a summary. Scroll all d way to the bottom and read the section for notes and avtivity. Read from bottom up as though you are reading twitter.
Search canadavisaforum there's a write up on how to understand it. Can't remember the link.
If you won't mind someone looking through for you, you can redact your personal info and PM to me.

I already booked a flight. Are you suggesting I should leave naija in February? Can't I be in Canny and request still request for it?
No i meant that you shouldn't commence the process for obtaining a canadian license until end of february next year. It is the date you apply for n pass the knowledge test that your foreign license would be collected for the purpose of assessing you for an exemption from the 2yrs gdl prog you are allowed to drive witj your foreign license as a pr for 90 days after landing.

Date of 1st issue is 02/2016. I remember the woman that helped my process it told me I had to do new one from scratch since the license I had was the old type. I was told it cannot be renewed.
Chaii. What can be done?
Have you landed? You should simply wait till 02.18. It's barely 3 months away. By then you'll have the 2yrs experience to qualify you for gdl exemption.

Hi everyone. Biko I have a qwesion. We did our knowledge tests and passed, then submitted our licenses. Now we got a car off kijiji and before we can get a plate number and have the car registered, we need insurance. Been talking to a lot of third party insurance coys but they keep insisting on the fact that they need our Nigerian licenses, because what we have now is just the Class 7 (even though temporarily, still waiting to do road test for the Class 5).

Please how did you guys go about this? I'm in Calgary. Thanks a lot for your replies
Hmmmm. PM me. I may have a solution for you.

Even if I learn in naija here and don't have a naija license, would that be wise.
Cheapest driving lessons i have heard of in Calgary are circa $60/hr. In Nigeria you could probably get registered in driving school for N30-50k. So do the math. After learning then you can go for your frsc test and obtain your license. That's for those of us that took frsc tests back in the day when you'll be made to parallel park and drive through those drums they set as obstacles at awkward angles lol!
Anyway arriving Canada with a Nigerian drivers license would allow you drive for 90 days at first within that time you could read and practice for your road test and if you pass the basic class 5 test or its equivalent in other provinces then you become eligible for a class 5 gdl license which means you can drive but not between midnight and 5am and not with any level of alcohol in your system and not carry more passengers than the number of seat belts in your car.

Good morning all. Please, is UK PCC still valid after 6 months? I did it upfront hoping that my ITA will come soon but with the way the last draw shocked the world, me and my 434 have been greatly humbled. smiley
Sorry i couldn't help but laugh. As long as you got the pcc after you left the country and you haven't returned since then, it remains valid.

Here's how it works. It varies by province.
In Alberta, the full license is called Class 5 license. So everyone takes the knowledge test. With two years letter of experience you get an exemption from Class 5 GDL ( graduate driver's license) and take the test for a full license straight. However in the absence of the letter, you will hold the class 5 GDL for 2 full years before being able to take the advanced road test to get the full class 5 license.

I am not sure if any driving experience under two years will be deducted from the 2 years of holding class 5 GDL.

A number of other provinces have theirs similar to Alberta's.
In Alberta you do not need the frsc letter. Same for Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Thus far I've only heard of thefrsc letter for people resident in Ontario. In Alberta you only need your current or expired drivers license. The issue date is enough to enable them calculate if you have up to 2yrs driving experience. That would waive the wait time and you can then opt to go for the advanced road test.

@vcole, is your nysc NOC the same with your other work experience NOC or they are different? I just want to know if one can only combine experience that falls under the same NOC or one can combine from different NOCs.

Thanks and happy Sunday to you.

Same NOC as my other work experience. I really don't know if you can combine NOCs but I would presume that if they are within class O, A or B you should be able to. Maybe others with more experience can shed more light on this.

Lol! My nysc employer was quite flexible. However you had other experience to make up right? I needed my nysc experience because I didn't wanna use a particular employer for the ee process and that now dropped my experience below 3yrs so nysc made up for the short fall.

Hi guys. Please my wife is due is April and we have begun our application process.

However, my question is, how do we book accommodation for the delivery. Most hotels online don't give provision for 2 to 3 months reservation.

How best can we convince the VO as regards accommodation.

Cheers
Just book the maximum length of stay the hotel or apartment can take. Usually it's 30 days. However in your budget sheet include the total cost of accommodation for your entire length of stay.

Dear vcole, the Lord bless you.

I don't believe our application ended up in London because anything was wrong with it.

They already told us a maximum of 6 months abi? So anything within that time frame is honestly fine.

Yea. It's usually because of workload re-distribution that apps from west Africa move to London VO or other VOs apart from the Accra.

Hi vcole I saw an old comment of yours on the Canada skilled workers express entry. You mentioned you used your NYSC work experience, however since. NYSC is less than a year, how does that work for someone who has only that as their work experience? Thank you.

Please Ignore. Question has been answered
Hi immanuella3. Nysc is for 12 months. So you'll need to get a reference letter from your employer to that effect. My employer wrote the reference letter as "vcole worked as xyz at our faculty under the national youth service corps scheme.........." the dates of employment were the dates for nysc. That is the date camp started and the date of passing out as it appears on your discharge certificate.

London VO! I just tire.In the early days, I used to hate Boss13's guts, felt he was overbearing, shoving his opinions down people's throats. Hmm,however, these days, I agree almost 100% wt him even though he goes overboard once in a while. The wait is no joke! 5months post AOR and LVO is still saying file awaiting review! They haven't even touched it at all since it was transfered to them. One is just in limbo. And to add salt to the existing injury you keep seeing applications that took roughly 16-22 days from AOR to PPR! Anyways in God we trust, would soon sing my victory song. I just dey console myself say its 6months average processing time they told us ab initio. Fingers crossed and calmly waiting. Phew!
Babes don't be dismayed. It'll happen soon.
