One of four drugs being tested in experiments overseen by the World Health Organization is remdesivir. Two-thirds of 53 patients given the drug in a US clinical trial showed signs of improvement.

The trial began when scientists looked at drugs that had shown promise against the Sars or Mers coronaviruses, which killed hundreds of people in 2003 and 2012, the WHO’s chief scientist, Dr Soumya Swaminathan told the BBC.

But she warned that the remdesivir trial had no control group, meaning there were no patients in the experiment who did not take the drug, and therefore no way of comparing the results.

Although scientists hope the initial signs will prove to be correct, Dr Swaminathan explained, there was no way of knowing currently if and by how much the drug benefited patients.

“We're doing everything we can to speed up enrolment [in the trial] but I think this epidemic is going to be with us some time,” she warned.

It's not news that Africans can be so stupid most times especially our leaders but I do wonder everytime how some obvious things that will be detrimental to us in the long run are happening right before our eyes and no one is paying attention to it. I used to believe in the Bible a bit and used to read it to know if there was a curse placed on any African country that's affecting us generally till today.


Let me start with this. In Nigeria almost everyone has a DSTV decoder. That's our major source of entertainment on TV. Some states don't have a functional TV station so if you don't have cable TV like DSTV, Startimes and the likes your Television will be practically useless. You'll agree with me that sometimes average Nigerians are not able to pay for subscriptions sometimes so we're faced with watching the free stations. What are these free stations? They are:
-CGTN( Chinese Global Television Network) for Chinese news and discussions.
-CGTN Documentary ( Chinese Global Television Network for documentaries)
-CGTN French( Chinese Global Television Network in French language).
-CNC ( Chinese news stations).

We don't get to watch our Nigerian TV stations like NTA, AIT, Silverbird and the likes but we're stuck with Chinese propaganda stations!! And this has been going on since I can remember. How the hell has this been going on and nothing has been done about it.

Trust me I've watched these stations really well and I can tell you they are filled with nothing but Chinese propaganda.
-They attack the US and the west with their news and interviews. If you watched that station for a month you'll have a distorted view of the world view.
-They portray Africa like a barren land with need of help from China to survive.
- They influence their viewers to view things whichever way the Chinese government wants them to. If they believe today that any African leader is not acting in the interest of China. They portray that leader in such a bad light. They do this in such a subtle way. This is very dangerous.

The most scary thing is that 95% of Nigerians don't subscribe regularly on their DSTV. So at one time or the other they have to watch these stations. This is very dangerous!!!

How is it that in Nigeria you can't watch local TV stations on DSTV for free but can only watch Chinese propaganda stations? How are Nigerians not enraged by this?

91 recovered patients test positive for COVID-19 again – KCDC

More than 90 people who fully recovered from the novel coronavirus have tested positive for COVID-19 again, health authorities Seoul said on Friday.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said a total of 91 people had tested positive for the new coronavirus after they were released from quarantine.
