abduleez1:You needn't worry that. Her stay in MCU for nearly 8 years has set her for life. Once her contract expires, I'm pretty sure she'll pursue the Daniel Radcliffe approach; choosing roles that interest and challenge her rather than those that pay well. It's both the curse and the gift of these big franchise movies. |
abduleez1:Of course, but let's also be real here for a second. She can dry her tears with millions of dollar bills if she choses to. And that's it. It's a choice. I doubt anybody forced here to do anything beyond her initial MCU contract. Having said that, Olsen has a genuine talent, and if she decides to hang up her Wanda boots, she'll have no trouble shaking off the typecast(?). I'd love to see her in a different role, such as "Martha Marcy May Marlene." Martha Marcy May Marlene was, in my opinion, her best role to date. She was also impressive in the TV drama "Sorry for Your Loss" a few years ago, in which she played a recently widowed woman. |
abduleez1:I reckon she's content with her role as Wanda, and is simply admitting her predicament. There is an understandable conflict between joining the MCU, and having job security, while also being frustrated that you're missing out on auteur projects. You start with what is best for the now and work your way up. She'll be fine. |
**The Northman** The plot is similar to that of The Lion King, but with Vikings instead of lions. Artsy cinematography, emotionally compelling characters, and a lot of violence. However, all of the howling and animal-like posturing made it hard to take seriously, almost as if it were a one-dimensional parody of aggressive masculinity. The plot was predictable, and the love interest felt like an afterthought. Overall, it was visually appealing, and the fight scenes were good, but it was extremely mediocre.

Beorn:There are people in this thread whose only contribution is to spoil movies, the person you quoted is one of them. They have mush for brains, and are generally unconcerned about other people. |
AnfieldFan:We will see. |
abduleez1:Yes, she's a sociopath who controls him by passive aggressive manipulation. I think he should divorce her, but I'm not sure he could afford the asset division and alimony/child support payments she'd demand. Will didn't exactly cover himself in glory when he slapped a comedian who was doing his job, but it's evident that he was going through a lot. I hope he recovers and his career doesn't continue on its downward trajectory, because he's clearly sensitive, and sensitive people often self-destruct. |
blingxx:Intelligent but delusional? Sounds about right. Elon reminds me of a Bond villain. |
Dotng:Will Smith should prioritise his divorce. It will be the most expensive project he has ever worked on. After that, he can return to focusing on his career. |
AnfieldFan:So he has two projects to his name? Big deal. Doesn't inspire confidence, still. |
abduleez1:Hate him or love him, he's a great actor. I've no doubt he killed it in 'Top Gun: Maverick.' |
AnfieldFan:Uncut Gems is solid, and he demonstrated remarkable acting range, however, Uncut Gems was written/directed by seasoned professionals. This, I reckon, will be the key determinant. |
Ellexy:He, ironically, believes in aliens and UFOs, which are the core doctrines of Church of Scientology. |
abduleez1:Tom Cruise is a high-ranking member of a high-profile cult, has strangely positioned teeth, is crazier than a paranoid schizophrenic, and shorter than Anya Taylor-Joy, but I'll be damned if he doesn't command the screen. He has a lot of charisma and the capacity to be dynamic. I've never seen Tom Cruise feature in a film in which he didn't give it his all. I've gotten to the point where I overlook the man's beliefs, politics and lifestyle and simply appreciate his talent. |
AnfieldFan:An actor who has been phoning it in for the majority of his career, a director who has only directed a documentary, a pair of sophomore writers, an unremarkable cast, and LeBron James as producer... It's great that Adam Sandler is trying something different, but I have a feeling this film will be a certified snoozefest. The markers are all there. |

abduleez1:Long live the new flesh. |
abduleez1:I'm ready to gag my way through this and enjoy every second of it. I’ll watch this one at home the right way - with my pants down. ![]() |
**The Cleansing Hour** It was a lot of fun, a little cheesy, a little self-deprecating, and genuinely suspenseful. It had some flaws; some cringey moments, (some) distractingly bad effects, and it dragged a little towards the end, and I wasn't a huge fan of the final twist, but those are minor quibbles considering how entertaining the film was.
|
abduleez1:Lol, I saw that on HBO when I was way too young, I couldn't look away. ![]() |
**Sonic The Hedgehog 2** The action is really cool, the CGI is pretty consistent, the editing and music are adequate, Carrey's performance is great, the dialogue and emotional moments are extremely cheesy and predictable, but in a way that the movie needs. The movie has a lot of heart. This was a delight. I'm looking forward to Sonic 3. |
abduleez1:ScarJo is a MIlF. She wins.
|
abduleez1:Not gonna lie, the Shakespearean dialogue was exhausting. In my opinion, it took away most of the plot's bite. |
abduleez1:WB is reportedly considering replacing Ezra Miller with the actor behind the character. Perhaps this is why the actor declined to reprise his role in the sequel. |
abduleez1:'The Lost City' is a funny so so. I will watch Sonic 2 this evening, Northman this weekend. |
abduleez1:His style isn't particularly original; it's one that's associated with arthouse films. Symbolism, mysticism, and surrealism abound, leaving plenty of room for interpretation and reflection. I liked his "The Lighthouse," but only because it scratched my "claustrophobic horror" itch. The symbolism aspect of it didn't appeal to me at all. If "Northman" had arthouse elements mixed in with the macabre, I'd have "Green Knight" PTSD. I'd be completely bored. I'd skip over scenes to get to the good stuff. Hopefully, there will be enough gore to make the experience... valuable. |
abduleez1:This. Without Stiles, what's the point of a Teen Wolf film? It'd be more appropriate to call it a spinoff and call it a day. |
abduleez1:I dunno, some moviegoers have compared it to 'The Green Knight,' and have said it's more arthouse than blockbuster. This isn't a compliment. Basically, if you were hoping for a revenge epic along the lines of 'Gladiator,' you'll be disappointed. Nonetheless, I'm still excited, but I've toned down by expectations some. To quote MJ, “If you expect disappointment, then you can never really be disappointed.” |
Baddestguyp:It won't be released until December. I have no idea what the individual you quoted is talking about. It's possible she's on drugs. |
**The French Dispatch** Another one of the master's masterpieces. I love Wes Anderson's work. His style is so pleasing to the eye that you could stop at any frame, print, frame, and hang it in your living room. The dialogue and characters are always unpredictable and hilarious. This one had a lot of story lines, and it felt like I was reading a collection of short stories. A very enjoyable film. |
abduleez1:In this case, I'm not going to argue with you. ![]() |
