If you wanna compare, it should be between Shazam & Supes, (Shazam has the speed of Mercury, a Roman god of speed) or between the Flashes(Barry & Wally).

And the Flash in the Justice league movie seems like a kid who just got his abilities newly & still trying to figure things out.

The 5th dimension he is talking about does not change the fact that there was time travel, from our own perspective.

The reddit scientist argues that a 5th dimension being could travel anywhere in spacetime (any alternate reality)- which means that there was no time travel in the movie but a movement in space and time.

But the scientist forgets the most important message in the movie- time is relative. The scientist also forgets that Both Cooper and the humans on earth are 3 dimensional beings...THEREFORE, IT WAS A SIMPLE TIME TRAVEL WITH A MESSAGE SENT FROM THE FUTURE BACK TO THE PAST.

Let me point out a lesson in linear vs non linear narratives.


It is very difficult to tell a good story that is purely linear or purely non linear.

Just think about it. A purely non linear plot will keep jumping around at every page. For instance, I'd a book or a story went in flashback at every second page, no reader would know whether the story is in the past or present. This is very evident in the series Westworld in its second season.

A purely linear story will never include things like a forgotten memory that has been remembered. For instance, a karate student flashing back to the lesson his master taught him so as to defeat the last boss at the end. Or even a villain explaining the true reason why he killed the main characters friend.


So what matters is the degree of linearity or non-linearity.

Now someone arguing that interstellar has a non linear plot when point A to B in the movie is clear. The progression between the beginning and the end is easily charted. From a retired NASA astronaut living on a farm to going on space adventure to save the species and then sending a message to his daughter, who then uses the information to save the species at the end.
