Lol! Ogaga leaves me scratching my head most times. I haven't seen Safe House and I think I won't. I saw J. Edgar. Pretty much like The Iron Lady in the obvious sense. Unfortunately, I'm very familiar with Hoover unlike Margaret Thatcher, but it was a very. good movie. Leonardo didn't manage to capture the older version quite enough for me but he was absolutely sublime as the younger Hoover. Worth an Oscar nomination, truly.

OMFG!, just saw that film 2hrs ago, i bow for that woman, MERYL was simply oustanding, she is hands down the best actress last yr,i still can't get over how blown away i was, phew!
Tho before i saw it heard alot of buzz bout her performance and i wasn't suprised coz i knew she's Meryl freaking Streep, buh watching it just nailed it.
Amen! She's just gotta win this time, The Help or no The Help.

I've always thought there was a difference between a beautiful story and a beautifully told story. The Iron Lady is mostly the latter. And MERYL STREEP is tour de force. If she doesn't win the Oscar, I'll kill someone.

Super 8.

Cool film. I can't say it's really for adults. You gotta be really young at heart to enjoy it and I did. If anything, it started out really nicely.

Easter is not bad at all . . . I just got kick of approval smiley. You sef, how bodi now? Your light dying? . . . hmmmm, can water never be wet?
I'm fine oh. I think. Yes na, water seizes to be wet when it turns to ice, something called dry ice especially tongue

Lol. Shush. Christmas, hah! Christmas. Maybe Easter then?

George is not a great actor. He's a safe one. But he's always in movies I like. Can't really think of many I don't like. But let's not derail the thread. Nice to see you in the section though. My light is almost dying here
TV/Movies › Re: Movies You Don't Ever Want To See Again And Why? by vescucci(m): 6:01pm On Feb 14, 2012
Haha. August visitor. How's the other august visitor?

It's mysterious cuz I used to dislike him too and I thought him smug. But I stopped when I couldn't find a reasonable reason cheesy and he keeps on being a part of very good films.

Nicole Kidman earned my respect with that film. She's another mysteriously much maligned person.
TV/Movies › Re: Movies You Don't Ever Want To See Again And Why? by vescucci(m): 4:18pm On Feb 14, 2012
Phew! It was very dark and philosophical. Maybe only fans of the comics will appreciate how strict the adaptation was. But the blasphemy of calling it a bad film? Kai!

And I didn't even bother with Daredevil cuz I hate seeing Ben Affleck's face. He should stick to directing and maybe writing. There's only one George Clooney, even though mysteriously much maligned.
TV/Movies › Re: US And UK Box Office. New Releases. News And Rumours by vescucci(op): 3:24pm On Feb 14, 2012
Lol. Which means you weren't holding your breath before either. We'll see how it turns out. You can't judge a movie by it's cast nowadays but this would be pushing it. I'd have loved to see Liev Schreiber in this film somewhere. Love that dude

Did it occur to you that the guy probably meant Watchmen was crap? Jeez. I tire for this section oh. Watchmen is a film human being will not wanna watch again? I've seen it thrice now and that is an unbelievable thing for me to do.
TV/Movies › Re: What Was The Last Movie You Watched - Part 2 by vescucci(m): 2:30pm On Feb 14, 2012
Almost forgot I wanted to talk about War Horse. The cinematography in War Horse is incredible. There musta been like 300 wallpaper worthy shots in the film. Plus there were like half a dozen lovable characters in there too. The film showed that the goodness in humans can seep through in all sorta places and situations. Very good film. Fresh. The cons are easy to ignore.

Sorry about that. But I didn't get the same kinda emails I got the last time. So this means you either didn't click the report to mod button or something went wrong when you did. Secondly, I don't read every post on every thread. Just right now, I'm trying to spread myself out a bit. I don't venture out of a very few threads. Thirdly, do not say I ignored anything. That's preposterous and I don't like the accusation.

Well, since Ghadaffi and Bin Laden died, maybe he should score again and someone in Nigeria should 'kick' the bucket.

vescussi, I shouldnt have to contact seun or mukina for something you should be doing.

anyway, saw Safe House. It was ok., Denzel is lucky I love him else i would never purposely watch a Ryan Rynolds movie.

They knew how much money he lost with his horrible Green Lantern and knew a big name like Denzel would help him get his money back. Talentless hack.
Who's vescussi? What is it you wanted done?

Which kind The Bodyguard movie sucked? I loved the thing jare. And the ending! Whitney seemed to have become something else and I have detached about her. It somehow feels like she had died a long time ago. RIP.

I'm beginning to get out of my pessimistic fog about The Bourne Legacy. I'm getting excited now. That cast looks superb

I'm glad for Adele but I'd have staked all my belongings if I could have found a dumb enough bookie. So, I'm not surprised. Same for Bon Iver. Loved their album. The rest went either the way I expected or I don't care about the categtory. The only beef I have is Lupe not winning for best album. That Kanye album have some great songs but I tired of the album after a while jare. Watch The Throne is better to me sef.

Lupe, another time mate.

Education › Re: Sex Education: Should It Be Taught In Nigerian Secondary Schools? by vescucci(m): 5:55pm On Feb 13, 2012
Deja vu feeling. I'd have sworn I posted here just now. Anyways, I think sex education is not good or bad. It's good in the sense that it demystifies sex and makes it less intriguing and thus less appealing (less, but it'd still be pretty darn intriguing and appealing). It's not so great cuz it makes it less intriguing and thus less appealing.

I hope the humour is not lost undecided

I cannot say I remember this with nostalgia cuz I pretty much hated university. But I remember thinking 'oh man, all the cool stuff I'm gonna learn' but nah, I didn't learn anything like in Discovery channel like I thought I would

War Horse.

Awesome film. I'll review it later. But I loved it and the music and this is not just cuz I'm a Spielberg fan though it might have something to do with it.

Lol. Spirit is total nonsense. I thought it'd be like Sin City. It's not just shit compared to Sin City, it's shit all by itself.

But Unbreakable? Well, to each his/her own sha. M. Night is a director and writer. Totally lost his mojo though. I didn't totally hate Devil which he made recently but it was just ok.

nostalgia alert!, i agree E.T was f*ucking great, def on my list of best movies ever made, even when i watch it on Tcm i still feel it, and i hate roger ebert, such a precipitate sometimes, there's only one spielberg buh i prefer marty scorsese*in my opinion*
E.T = vintage hollywood
Wow. Thank God people like you still exist. You watch TCM too. Cool. Scorsese appeals to my adult side. Steven Spielberg can make me a child again.

Unbreakable - wasted one hour fourty minutes of my precius study time. i will never get that back. smh
Are you freaking serious? I saw Sixth Sense last week. M. Night has certainly lost his touch but boy, did he have it before!
TV/Movies › Re: Nigerians Are Cowards (Half Of A Yellow Sun Casting) by vescucci(m): 5:53pm On Feb 09, 2012
Wow. The thread has totally been derailed sha.

Flashback: Some people decided to make a movie based on one Naija woman's book. They consulted her (as they must have) and she gave her blessings and washed her hands off any involvement (probably after having been paid a lot or just being content with having her book adapted) in the movie. The movie makers (including a supposed Nigerian director who I believe is there for a reason) decide to cast Thandie Newton to play one Olanna. This decision has caused an uproar and kneejerk accusations. And THIS is the bone of contention.

My position is that we're well within our rights to be dismayed. But there's a limit to our consternation because we have no say at all in what is a business strategy. The movie is not being made solely for the Nigerian audience. In fact, I'm sure the director was chosen as some sort of a placating move and he himself probably does no have as much say as we all assume he does. He probably had nothing to do with the casting.

I have not read this book and I dunno how much Olanna's physique has to do with the Biafran war or the story but I'm sure this is not the first time an adaptation is tweaked for commercial reasons. Bottom line, this is all not worth foaming at the mouth. Period.
TV/Movies › Re: What Was The Last Movie You Watched - Part 2 by vescucci(m): 10:18pm On Feb 08, 2012
E. T.

There must be something called Nostalgia overdose. I finished the film (with my serious cynicism in check) and felt the magic I used to feel (that's now completely lost) for movies again. I don't like Mr. Roger Ebert much but I just started to tinker with facts about the film and I read a review he wrote which was spot on.

There's only one Spielberg.
TV/Movies › Re: Ejike Asiegbu Plans Feature Film On The Life Of Ojukwu by vescucci(m): 7:53pm On Feb 07, 2012
Lol. Ojukwu is a lotta things to a lotta people but certainly is a movie worthy person. Now we can cast who we want, can't we? Good initiative. I might watch something like this.

And Muki. You're more Nigerian than me now oh. What gives?

The Help.

The acting was great. I'm not so taken with the movie though. Good enough. But why is it supposed to be the best thing since pasteurization?

The Pianist. Beautiful. I had forgotten about the film. I need to watch The English Patient again.

We need to talk about Kevin. Disturbing mayne.

The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest. I wanna watch that next.
