Job requirements are a wishlist. 3 years of experience should be interpreted we are absolutely okay with six months to one year experience. Those job requirements should not stop you from applying provided you can show that you are capable.

wishlist you say but when 200 developer apply for a role you think the recruiters go through your CV? they use a software that automatically screen those without the specifications out, I know for sure of foreign companies and top league company in Nigeria.

Bros I am also from the maritime field and it's not something in demand. You will suffer to get a job there. Mechanics can easily get a job but the salary is rubbish. Dealerships pay like max 150k. That's a very useless salary. I am talking about real skills needed in today's world. The jobs are there and are advertised. Betking is currently looking for a data analyst. The salary is above 800k. How many people have the skills to fill the jobs. You will be surprised to go to the interview and see just 5 people.

Angel list alone has over 32000 tech related jobs listed. People are swapping good jobs like mad. It depends on the industry o and the skills you have if it's in demand or not. The whole world is changing now.

The great thing about jobs in demand fields or that require specialised skills is that they can't use connections to fill them. Betking can't employ a data engineer on connections. It would break their business. They need someone who would hit the ground running immediately. The jobs are there but the question is do you have the skills to do the job?

Don't forget those jobs comes with requirements for outrageous years of experience,I am a programmer and I know how many rejection I have received from those companies, I need to build up at least 3years experience before I can be considered for such role, but currently I am working in a company the pay is not bad but those higher end jobs don't come easy even if you have the required skill

If you are like me either male or female, just state your reason. Mine is not low self-esteem or being broke but I don't see a need for such yet, I don't have time or energy to be chasing women around. (All beautiful girls all around the world, I could be chasing but my time would be wasting)

Nice thread, C# is the way forward, I never regretted learning C# , you can virtual do anything with it. C# is less verbose and helps productivity with Linq queries for in memory data manipulation and communication with database

Many programmers in Nigeria love to talk the big talk like they can program heaven and earth but funny I know a guy who is a well paid "software" developer but on the low he just searches for readily available code online and boom nigga dey cash out from those who believe programing is for geniuses ... Bros programing no hard but Nigerian code monkeys would rather mystify it to discourage noobs hence discourage overcrowding..

I saw a thread where one dude wanted to teach C# ...I know CSharp as that is the tool that I need to do my work... I followed carefully and it didn't take too long to see the dude as with most programing tutors ...was just giving them GIGO level training for noobs ...if I didn't know that shi already , hearing those terms alone will just discourage me once.

Then again Its good because if not they will not respect us and fear us when they see horse hay-gain.

while some of those stuff are true, know that software engineering is more than code copying, those code copiers might be making money but they can't compete in big leagues of true programmers, they are flukes who can't solve problems on their own
