A lot of factors contributed to the failures of these clubs to succeed and remain afloat. One is the corrupt and badly run Nigeria Professional League Management. Another is insecurity: on many occasions you would hear news about a referee being attacked, players getting beat up or the team but getting robbed on their way to matches.

The club side management is another headache. Players are either paid poorly or they aren't paid at all because the club is cash strapped. Running a football club is very expensive and doesn't yield profits immediately. Our playground are not well grassed and maintain. Often you will see spots of empty grounds on the pitch. Ultimately, the failure of our government is majorly why our league is in a deplorable state.

If players are paid well and protected with good contracts , and the league management is doing their jobs soccer lovers will troop out in numbers to watch our league games and this will ignite inflow of money into the pockets of the clubs, which they will in turn use to manage the clubs better.

Using Enyimba FC as a case study when Governor Orji Uzor Kalu was the governor, the club was transformed in a short period of time and quickly became the most successful club in Nigeria.

too inconsistent to be our talisman. His performance for us so far has been so underwhelming that we don't even feel his absence whenever he does not play for us. You can read when people lament when players like aina, osimhen, iwobi, ndidi etc miss matches for us but not a single soul loses sleep when chukwueze is the player missing our match. Lack of quality competitors for a long time made him complacent and I hope he starts playing well for us.

Though Okala was born in Onitsha but I don't think he is an Anambarian. The surname Okala is prominent in Ohafia, and most of the Okalas I know are from Akanu Ohafia and a few from Owerri. In my opinion and based on peculiar qualities of the towns, Onitsha remains the commercial hub of Igbo land, Enugu the administrative center, Owerri for hospitality, Aba for industries, Abakaliki for Agriculture. This doesn't mean that Nnewi should close or that Owerri can't be used as administrative center. Grow up people. Our people have investment all over Nigeria so what is wrong if we develop Aba for industries or go to Onitsha for commerce? Let's mock the rogue governors for not using our resources to work for us and not our fellow Igbos because we not from an imaginary place called state.

Let every state develop themselves. This habit of using Anambra to chase clout then turnaround to insult us must end soon. The Igbo are very jealous of Ndi Anambra but we kept acting like we don't know this due to our penchant to push for Igbo unity.

Secondly, the SE have no creative midfielder. Who is that player that could hold the ball and soak up the pressure from the Malians.

One thing I have realized about the SE since Gernot Rohr took over the team until now is that the team has lost confidence, especially when it comes to ball possession. The team just doesn't have that confidence on the ball the Nigerian team is famous for. It's actually embarrassing to see the Malians holding the ball with more confidence than the Eagles.
