NYSC Passing Out Events for 2018 Batch ‘B’ Corpers.
Tuesday, 25th June, 2019 – Release of Passing – Out Corps Members by Employers;
Wednesday, 26th June, 2019 – Signing of Final Clearance by Zonal Inspectors, as well as Administration of Questionnaire on those Passing – Out;
Thursday, 27th June, 2019 – Distribution of Certificates of National Service to deserving Corps Members at Local Government level.

According to a survey carried out by comscore, as at 2016, consumers make 51% of there purchases online, up from 48% in 2015 and 47% in 2014. Also in 2017, comscore also recorded that ecommerce accounted for 17.5 percent of consumers spending.

Shoppers cite numerous reasons for their online shopping preferences, including that it saves them time, makes comparing prices easy, dosen't require fighting through crowded stores and provides a larger variety of items to purchase.

Now you see why i prefer ecommerce to other online businesses? This is one of the greatest investment you can make, because the internet is taking over the world bit by bit and soon everything will be online. well, we hope so.

How do we get started for an ecommerce online shopping business

1. Ascertaining the product you want to sell. One reason why many people fail in ecommerce is because they sell products that bigger ecommerce companies also offer for sale.

It will be difficult to outrank these higher companies selling similar goods or services you also sell. Its will be cool if you opt in for products that are yet to be sold online or has little competitors.

There are many unique products you can think of. Here are few suggested product you could start with:

Sometimes i post two new different guitar images, asking my them to make their comparison and decide the best out of the two. With these, i increased my audience and boosted the relationship between the company and their followers with the likes comments and shares. Never let them know your aim is to begin an online shopping. I made the followers feel it was just a social handle for guitar lovers.

While doing this, i promoted every image i posted on any social handle. In order to reach more people and get more followers.

#Advertising Your Competitors

This might sound funny. Yes, it does. At a point i had to follow those companies also selling guitars online especially the high ranking ones . I also went further to advertise the products they have in stock for sale on my social handle. At times, i retweet or repost their updates, mention them in some of my posts and also inform my followers of their upcoming events like their promos or products discounts period.

why do all this? By doing so, you increase your popularity and trust your followers will have for you. Customers will never patronize you if you are not popular and trustworthy. Seeing how you advertise these higher companies will make them beleieve you have a partnership with them. You see how it works?

#Creating your own promos

Like i said, never let them know you own or about to start an online shopping platform. Now i started something like a contest, where the winners win free guitars and i made the delivery to their doorsteps, took some pictures with them and posted them on the social handle. you mustn't be the one to make the delivery, you should have few agents to do so. By doing these, you are stylishly telling them your aim and also increasing your trust.

Yes, you might be at a loss at this time. But remember every business is about taking risk and then you reap with huge profits.

#Unleashing Your Aim

I time to convert your audience/followers to your customers. its time to let them no your real aim. Inform them about your online shopping platform, you can decide to preinform them on the launching of the website to see their comments. But i promise, you will get complementary and supportive comments. Simon Wamalwa, a first year student at Sang’alo Institute of Science and
Technology, Kenya, stabbed his girlfriend, Mildred Wanyonyi to death during
a quarrel and attempted to commit suicide on Thursday, 22nd February.


Police in Bungoma are currently investigating the incident, meanwhile, a
witness allegedly said the students were living together outside the school
hostel. Simon had accused his girlfriend of having a sponsor 'sugar daddy'
who was pampering her with gifts, as reported by another witness, this
accusation led to arguments between the two which resulted in a fight.

the rooms followed by screams and rushed to the scene, on arriving at the

unconscious in the room while Simon was whimpering in pain on the floor.


According to information gathered, Simon is currently receiving treatment
at the hospital, while his girlfriend Mildred was pronounced dead on
arrival to the hospital.


Meanwhile, Bungoma South OCPD, David Kirui, said investigations were
ongoing and the suspect will be arraigned in court soon

Queendaline Ekezie, a student of Army Day Secondary School, Imo state, collapsed and died after she was reportedly punished by soldiers to frog jump for coming late to school.

However after whimpering in pain, the 15-year-old Queendaline was rushed to the hospital for treatment by the Principal of the School. Her friend who was present in the scene explained what led to the incident to Punch, she said;

“On that day, we had set out at 7am. We waited for a motorcycle to take us to school till it was 8am. When we became frustrated, we decided to board a commercial cab. But the driver did not leave the motor park until the car was filled with passengers.

When we got to school at 9am, we met three sets of late comers on the ground. Two soldiers were asking each set to do frogmarch to a particular distance after which they picked their bags and entered their classes.

When it was our turn, we were about reaching the finishing line when they said we were not doing it right and we should start again. After we repeated it, we went to pick our school bags, but one of the soldiers said he was still not satisfied.

I completed the punishment the third time and I picked my bag and left. I suddenly discovered that my friend was not with me. When I returned to the place, I saw her crying. She started vomiting the food she ate that morning. She was saying, ‘my back, my chest.’ The soldiers were just staring at us."

She added that when they got to the hospital, the victim was given an injection and was put on a drip, but unfortunately she couldn't survive it.

“After they put on the drip, she started vomiting blood. Blood was spurting out of her nostrils, mouth and ears. I called the teacher to inform her and she alerted a nurse who said her condition had worsened”

The victim’s sister, Immaculate, a student of the school as well, blamed the hospital for inadequate medical attention which contributed to her death. Meanwhile her dad collapsed upon hearing the news and he is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

A legal practitioner and student of the University of Abuja, Anthony Ejumejowo, has dragged the institution to a Federal Capital Territory High Court, over the delay in the supervision of his Master's degree in law project by a lecturer in the institution, Lawrence Chukwu.

According to Ejumejowo, the absence and unavailability of the supervisor did not only stall the progress of his research work, but it also delayed the conclusion of his academic work over 14 months since the conclusion of the 2015/16 academic session, Punch report

Ejumejowo said he attended classes for the two academic semesters that ended in September 2016 and undertook two semester examination, scoring grade B in all the courses that he registered for, as released by the university.
In a suit filed, the plaintiff averred that he is an alumnus of UNIABUJA of the set of 2005 from the faculty of law and was admitted into the post-graduate school in the faculty of law to study for an LLM sometime in October, 2015 for the 2015/16 academic session.
Ejumejowo demanded an order of the court directing UNIABUJA to pay him the sum of N100 million as damages suffered as a result of the action of the university.

According to the lawyer, his legal practice was put on hold in order to concentrate on his studies, adding that he lost several briefs during the period.
He claimed to have researched and submitted three chapters to Chukwu, with the first two chapters submitted to him for final corrections sometime in May, 2017, adding that every attempt to see him since May 2017, was to no avail as the supervisor would always give one excuse or the other.

The legal practitioner also demanded an order of the court directing UNIABUJA to conclude the project supervision within 60 days and in accordance with the terms and conditions of his admission, as well as a declaration that the actions of UNIABUJA was a deliberate act to frustrate him from completing his study for the award of an LLM degree.
Other reliefs sought by Ejumejowo include a declaration that the defendant’s action was in breach of the terms of the admission offered by the institution; and a declaration that he would not be charged any additional sums of money as school fees.

In a related development, it was previously reported that a four hundred level student of political science of Redeemers University of all Nations, John Gift Momoh, expelled by the school over allegations of taking prohibited substances,
dragged the institution before an Ogun state high court in Ota.

In an affidavit sworn to by Momoh and filed before the court by a Lagos lawyer, Barrister Adejumo Omobolaji, the deponent alleged that he was summarily expelled from the university without justification.

Many students nowadays do not bother acquiring a first class even from the day they got admission, they had the mindset that graduating with first class does not translate to success. They believe that it would be better if they could concentrate on having second class upper or lower, rather than waste their time on first class which may not guarantee their immediate employment after their graduation. 3. Early preparation
A popular adage says: “As you lay your bed, so, you shall lie on it” .
Acquiring a first class is not a day job. It is an accumulation of outstanding results from the first semester to the last semester of your sojourn in the university. Before one has a first class, one’s journey to success would have begun from one’s verification of your results -jamb score to your post UTME, your 100 level result till your final year result. So, for those who take studies with levity for the first three years and decide to read all night in the last year, that belief will amount to a mirage or illusion.

4. School challenges
It is not all about saying or making up your mind to graduate with a first class, it is all about following that dream till you graduate. We have a lot of students who have made up their mind to acquire this but their mindset would be changed once they gained admission into the university. Most of them do feel big and forget their dreams; some get distracted by clubbing and cultism.This is one of the greatest challenge students do have and to overcome this, all you need is much devotion to your studies and prayers.

5. School Management
However, all blames should not be put on the students alone. This is because most students try their best to have first class but corruption has also permeated to the academic institutions and many students who have one unresolved issue or the other with the lecturers might be dealt with while their final result are being compiled

To crown it all, one has to work harder for this both in studies and in prayer because a first class graduate has 100% chances of employment than any other graduate even in the same company.

The Orientation Course exercise for 2017 NYSC Batch ‘B’ Stream II will be conducted in Fifteen (15) NYSC Orientation Camps only;
Abia, Bauchi, Benue, Delta, Enugu, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Plateau, Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Rivers and the FCT.

1.The Orientation Course excercise has been scheduled as follows;
(a) Commencement and Registration: Tuesday 16th January, 2018
(b) Cut-off date for Registration: Midnight Wednesday,17th January, 2018
(c) Swearing-In Ceremony: Thursday, 18th January, 2018
(d) Closing: Monday, 5th February, 2018

2. Prospective corps members for the Orientation Course exercise are hereby expected to proceed to their respective Camps as stated on their Call-up letters. Foreign-trained graduates are to report to the Camp with their travelling Passport for Identification as well as their Certificate/Transcript for verification.

3. In the event of any loss of Call-up Letter, the Corps member who collected the Call-up letter from his/her Institution is advised to obtain Police Report and Sworn Court Affidavit and thereafter, report to the Institution of graduation for further necessary action. Those who initially printed their Call-up Letters on-line can re-print the Call-up Letters as many times as they want in the case of loss.

4. Prospective Corps Members are to note that their states of deployment may differ from their orientation camp venue, hence; they must take careful note of their respective orientation camp venue before proceeding to camp.

Requirements For NYSC 2017 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course

(a) Original Call-up Letter or Call-up Letter printed on-line
(b) Statement of Result endorsed by authorized officer with authentic signature.
(c) School Identity Card, including travelling Passport for Foreign-trained graduates.
(d) Medical Doctors, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists and Optometrists are to produce evidence of Registration with their Professional Bodies.
(e) Prospective Corps members should go to Camp with Functional Account Number and Bank Verification Number (BVN) to facilitate online payment of entitlements.
(f) In addition, each prospective corps member MUST present Certificate of Fitness from a Government or Military Hospital showing his/her health status before he/she will be registered and admitted for the orientation course.

A Nigerian man named Dr Salihu Dasuki, has revealed how former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, paid his tuition fee for a program he attended at Harvard Kennedy School when he couldn't get funding.

According to Dasuki, who is a recipient of The Future Awards Africa, Atiku made the payment even without knowing him.

Dr Dasuki's revelation was made via his Twitter page on Sunday, November 26, while the debate on Atiku's resignation from the APC was still a hot topic on social media.

He tweeted
"My friend I have never met or spoken to
@atiku but let me tell you something.He paid my full tuition fee for my program at Harvard Kennedy School when I couldn't get funding. He doesnt know me but I am grateful to him"

Further checks on Dr Dasuki revealed that he is a lecturer in information systems at the Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom, where he is the youngest senior lecturer at the age of 24.
Dr Dasuki got his PhD at the age of 24 and is now a senior lecturer in a UK university

He has a BSc from the Eastern Mediterranean University in Cyprus, and an MSc and PhD from the Brunel University in West London.

He is the son of Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande, a former minister of information and communication.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has disclosed that it has suspended the sales of the 2018 JAMB application forms which was to begin on Wednesday November 22nd, 2017.

This was made known by JAMB's spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.

According to him, the postponement was necessitated by the delay in meeting the agreed deadline by the publisher of the compulsory reading text meant for prospective candidates for the 2018 UTME which was supposed to be delivered on or before November 7th, 2017.

“As at close of work today, the publisher had not provided the 1.8 million copies required and this development painfully forced to the Board to shift the date from Wednesday 22nd November, 2017 to a date to be announced soon.

”JAMB said it regrets all inconvenience occasioned by this postponement as it is working round the clock to announce a new date soon”, the statement said.

Report has it that the students of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi (AUCHIPOLY) have given the Federal government a seven-day ultimatum to remove the acting rector of the institution, Sanusi Jimah.

It was learnt that the students issued the Ultimatum at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja on Monday.

The students accused Jimah of introducing unfriendly policies that threatens the academic progress and peace in the polytechnic.

Their demands include the release of the outcome of the selection interviews held in July 2016 and the immediate appointment of a substantive rector from any of the three successful candidates in the exercise.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB has has disclosed that it will ban the use of wrist watches and pens during the conduct of its 2018 test.

The board’s Registrar, Is’haq Oloyede disclosed this when speaking to newsmen at a one-day sensitisation workshop for Computer Based Test, CBT, centre owners on Wednesday in Lagos.

“What we are doing here today is to appraise the registration and conduct of our past examination and we have taken some lessons from our experience.

“To this end therefore we have introduced some measures that will further add to the integrity of the registration process as well as the conduct of the examination proper.

“For instance, we discovered during the conduct of the last examination that some electronic devices such as pens, wristwatches and other devices were used to perpetrate examination malpractice.

“So, for next year, we have banned the use of wristwatches and pens by candidates and other persons in the examination hall.
“We are also going to introduce some detection devices to ensure that those who plan to cheat in the examination hall are frustrated, as we will also jam (communication network) of the centres,” he said.

University of Medical Sciences, UNIMED, Ondo has obtained an accreditation for its MBBS and BDS programmes.
This accreditation was secured after two years of the establishment of the institution.

The institution was accreditation after inspections conducted by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) in October to verify the facilities and human resources available for the training of medical and dental students. This was contained in a statement by Temitope Oluwatuyi of the institution’s Public Relations Department
.
In a letter dated October 18, 2017, the Acting Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Dr. T. A. B Sanusi, said with the approval, the university can now conduct the first MBBS professional and BDS examinations.

This examination will allow the students’ progress to the next stage of their training programmes. The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Friday Okonofua, described the accreditation as a laudable milestone in the history of UNIMED. Okonofua appreciated the Visitor to the university, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, for his support to the institution.

Staffs of the university commended the VC and described him as a visionary leader who has used his experience to bring great developments to the institution.

The Charles Sturt University (CSU) Vice-Chancellor Scholarship program which is applicable by individuals who are willing to obtain an Undergraduate or Masters degree program at the Institution.

CSU offers a number of $5,000 and $10,000 tuition fee scholarships to new commencing international students enrolled in courses offered on Port Macquarie campus in Session 1, 2018.
