President GEJ is not popular with most Nigerians and other world leaders but if the truth must be told, Saudi officials' handling of this issue is way above board. Its grossly against international diplmatic relationship haba! Ile lati nko esho rode (charity begins at home). This shows that we have been underestimating the mess PDP has put us in as a Nation. Even the corrupt Babangida administration fared better in diplomatic ties.... This story almost ruined my day mschewwwww.. |
Hello All, When atimes you find injustice and the height of illegality where you do not expect to find one, it becomes so annoying and you just can't but wonder where we are headed. Moreover, when it has to do with the next generation, then you make them loose hope in the Project Nigeria. Sometime in July, ( guess 1st weekend) my niece wrote the first batch of post utme (post JAMB) of the Afe Babalola University having scored 244 in Jamb and a week or so after she was offered admission into Law department (her preferred choice) and we subsequently paid the acceptance fee of #50,000 and picked up the provisional admission letter from the school which I personally picked up on the 24th of July, 2012 while we awaited the resumption date of 17th September 2012. The bank draft for her fee almost hitting the 9 digit mark was made last week and preparations were in top gear for her resumption, on the eve of resumption, my brother, her father, checked the ABUAD website and found her name missing from the list of those admitted. He swung into action and said for me to confirm what was happening @ the school which was just opposite my work place. I couldn't get to the school on Monday but spoke with a few colleagues who work there and I told them I'd be there on Tuesday. On getting there, I met with the registrar, Christine Oluborode who at the initial stage was trying to play on my psyche asking who gave me the admission letter and asking me some awry question that a registrar of private institution of her status should not even dare ask( she did not know I am a lecturer and a Unionist par excellence, winks*). The long and short of it was that she could not be admitted for law again and I asked her why, she said the registration for law closed on Monday, I made her understand that the gal was ready to come to school but it was not wise risking her life down to Ado when on the eve of resumption, the list on their website did not have her name again. The next words that came out of her mouth was, she could offer her another course and that gave the bile in my stomach to rush to my mouth but for the presence of a whole barrack of policemen armed to the teeth present, I would have spat enough venom on her. Granted that the school authorities have the exclusive right to grant or refuse anyone an admission, and cannot be called to question on their decision, a few question arise nonetheless. QUESTIONS FOR REVIEW 1. What is the basis for the removal of her name? Are there lapses in the system that allow such to be done illegally? Was it done officially? 2. Why issue her an admission letter, duly signed by the Registrar in green ink, if there was no intention to admit her? 3. Why collect the acceptance fee, and subsequently remove a name from the list? 4. Having given her the offer upon payment of acceptance fee, was there any condition she failed to meet that led to her name being removed even before September 17? Should the offer be unilaterally withdrawn without recourse to her or the parents, bearing in mind that the form filled contained our contact details? 5. Talking about the offer to take another course 'since the offer lapsed yesterday', is that the next fair thing to do or is it just a situation of 'we hold all the aces and we can deal with anyone's life or future anyhow we like?' Like I highlighted earlier, they have the right to admit or not to admit a student, but has this case been treated right and fairly? At the moment, I am utterly vexed and would want a redress for this illegal act because I feel, they have done a heavy wrong to a young Nigerian and guess ABUAD is just in education business to make money and no more A very vexed uncle |
The placenta of all my children were handed over to me after their births and I keep wondering why. I personally consider it a waste product which should be disposed off by the hospital but I guess there is a superstition surrounding placenta. Kindly share your thoughts. |

I got information from reliable source that former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Sosan allegedly refused to address Mrs. Fashola as 'Her Exceelency' but rather as 'First Lady'. This was reported to have irked the first lady and eventually contributed to her ouster. My question now is who should be addressed as 'Her Excellency' between Mrs. Fashola and Mrs. Adefulire the deputy Governor? Is it constitutional to address Mrs. Fashola as 'Her Excellency'? |
Your article is not applicable to me. I have been using blackberry phone since 2010 but am not addicted to it even though it constitutes 70% of my work gadgets. Addiction is a choice! |
I'll calmly explain to my kids that every loaf of bread has been poisoned by boko haram. Thank God at their age they'll believe. Lol. |

As a versatile property manager, I once predicted that Ikorodu is the next real estate hub of Lagos but critics were quick to say that such prediction is targeted at luring investors. There was this 2 plots of land right besides my house around Ijede that was offered for sale at N1.5m about 2 months ago. We were at the verge of sealing its sales to an investor when news filtered in about the proposed road construction. The owner promptly cancelled further negotiations and insisted he is no longer selling. He is a wise man! Major road network among other things is one of the factors that determines the price of landed properties in most parts of the world. In another instance, for those of you familiar with Ikorodu, 0ak hospital situated at Agric bus stop is a major landmark before entering the core of Ikorodu if you are not entering through Ogolonto. Its car park was earmarked for demolition to pave way for the new road and by all standard thats a major blow to its thriving operation. To remedy this, the Medical Director decided to negotiate the purchase of a plot of land behind the hospital. He was asked to cough out N20m for it. A property begging to be bought for N12m about two months ago! The lesson is that investors are advised to make hay while the sun shines. There are still landed properties whose owners are not yet aware of the implication of the road project. Vicoloni & Percee Ltd. is a registered property management company based in Ikorodu with power of attorney to buy and sell landed properties on behalf of direct owners. Call 08065344562 or send mail request to vicolonipercee@gmail.co.uk for a list of properties we have for sale and deals brokered successfully. |

The old man annoys the shit out of me whenever I see him on the show. What do u think |
Bakare has said these things in a different way but he was castigated as being hypocritical. There is a new platoon of GEJ moles planted within the ranks of Nairaland with the sole assignment of discrediting wise, thought provoking public discuss like Ladi Thompson's and Bakare's. I dont care who says what, as long as what they are saying is obviously true. Am afraid for the nation called NIGERIA. |
Its definitely a propaganda message started by a frustrated muslim who thought orange has become unbearably too costly during the ramadan! Na today? |
Thanks everyone, your contributions have been very helpful. |
@Justwise, her case is a bit complicated. she got a 1 year visa in Oct 2011 which expires in Nov 2012, she was unable to enroll for the course in 2012 due to logistics reason and the school magnanimously defered her admission. Now, this year's session starts by sept 2012 and she intends to travel with her visa which is still valid till November. The pregnancy was unexpected and shes now heavy. Will she be allowed to enter UK. She intends to deliver her baby there if allowed in. Please advise. |
Pls my sister already have her student visa and intends to travel to Uk NEXT WEEK. The problem is that shes heavily pregnant. Would she be allowed to fly? If yes, what documents does she need to arm herself with. Thanks NL friends. |
