What are the Igbo elements in their music??! I asked you this question earlier. And what kind of Igbo food did they adopt?? Are you sure that you were not dining with people who are not indigenes but who originally came from Igbo land, to settle there? Or maybe you were dining with those whose wives were from Ala'Igbo.

To the best of my knowledge, Afenmai people descended from Benin, so it is highly unlikely that their music has Igbo elements, o!

Egusi soup (Igbo food) served side by side with Groundnut soup (Afemai food) in the coronation of the Uthairu/Ogie (King) and during "Age group".

They also use "Ogene" drum during their cultural occasion, e.g Age group, marriage etc.

Haba! In what strange way are they heavily influenced by Igbo people?? Which of the Afemai people told you that? Or which of the Esan mentioned this fallacy to you? What aspect of their cultural music sounds 'Igbo', abeg?? Don't even go there. If you call an Esan man or an Afemai person, an Igbo.... you may receive some wicked insults, o! Their names, language and culture are thoroughly Edo!

I grew up there listening to their local/highly respected cultural musicians in Auchi, namely "Ekpe young", "Ogagbi", "Waziri", "Young Bolivia". You'll find igbo elements in their music.
When it comes to food, they adopted most of Igbo food, and are served during any traditional/cultural occasion.


I never mentioned that they speak like igbo or answer igbo names.

they are are not Igbos but i will tell you that they are highly influenced by igbos.
Listen to the elements of their traditional/cultural music, you'll hear some igbo influence in them.
Come to food, you'll still see the influence.
Maybe it's cos of inter-marriage

i've seen the ishans/esan and afemai tying double wrapper during occasions, but the do not tie double wrapper as a casual attire/outfit.

South Eastern Nigerian is wholly owned and inhabited by the Igbo speaking people of Nigeria without any exemption. Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers have been zoned to the South South. i do have mentors but their field of writting is different from mine.
