Dear House,
Any information on how to choose a good preschool? or who has used any lately? want to enrol my LO for 2 months.

Do you mean preschool in the US?? If yes what I checked when I wanted to enrol my daughter was proximity to the apartment I was staying, teacher to children ration, and I also checked the teachers if they looked happy doing their jobs and the environment in general. But the main thing is to follow your instincts.

Please my dear experienced mamas, l need advice on this.

I was issued a visa in January for the purpose of vacation and in February l notified the embassy of my change of intent for which I have been given the usual response.

Now, I want to go along with my 2 year old son and I'm presently in the process of making an application for him.

My concern or question is that when we take him for interview (my husband and I have visas) do I need to fully prepare myself as if they would ask about my capability to deliver in the US since they did not have the opportunity to do so during my interview?
Or should only my husband go with him?
Where you pregnant when you got your VISA ??

I no explain again... every man with him own american dream

You n cloe should do more research on the free health care Ooo before you go n sign your child for Medicaid without knowing the full implication. UK has free health care no doubt. But y do you think the republicans are kicking against the Obama care: the reason is simply because The low income earners benefit more from it , so even citizens still get to pay Ooo n everything depends on your income level. Looking at it from that angle, your child is a minor so they are suppose to analysis his health benefit based on his guardian/parents income level and you as the parent don't have any record as per that in the US.And from the comment you posted from that site they said "free or low cost medical" that's to tell you they have what they consider.

greetings to every member in thread. need to know the benefit of given birth in the US as regards to the child, mother and father? all response will highly be appreciated.

Bros if you can afford it it's worth it.... Can be a form of educational insurance for your child. And you are giving that child options in future . Your child can become a US president.

.

Oya take, I don help you, thank me late

Medicaid & CHIP Basics
Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) offer free or low-cost health coverage for eligible children and other family members.
These programs may be called by different names in your state.

Here it's only d child dat can access d medicaid

Babes don't be too sure about the free health care thing Ooo, health care in the US is not " particularly free" for anyone. They consider a lot of things. All other points are valid.... But health care?

Hello House, please for those that have traveled with their mum, what did she have to do; Does she need to hold her cash or show her bank statement. what is expected generally of her. thanks.

Is your mum traveling with you or she is coming in her own?? If she is traveling with you n you are her sponsor she doesn't need to hold cash or any doc what you have will cover her. But if she is coming on her own she will have to carry doc of the person that sponsored the journey( that is if she is not sponsoring herself. My mum much later n my hubby was the sponsor that was filled on her DS160 form. So we gave her the following doc: hubby's work ID, employment letter, pay slip, marriage certificate, a copy of my passport data page n US VISA, a copy of my hubby's data page n US VISA. Houston was her POE n she said they didn't ask her much question. According to her they just asked what she was here for n she said she came to take care of her daughter that is already in to have her baby. N she just gave them all our doc . The officer went through the doc n stamped her in.

Just remembered a friends experience, she traveled at 36weeks n immediately she landed she fell into labour they had to call ambulance to rush her to the hospital. She ended up paying a lot cos ER in the US no dey smile when it comes to cash paying patient. It ended up being penny wise pound foolish for her. So let's apply wisdom pls.

Read through the discussion of the day about Nija health care n US health care. Some of us are not going to US only for the blue Pali. I have also had a terrible experience with the Nija health care, lost a 26weeks baby delivered life after 2 days in one of the best hospitals in lagos n the story I got was 26weeks old babies are not considered as viable n I paid a whioping sum of 2M plus after the loss. Abeg drafrica pack well, I won't pray for my enemy to loss a child.

N for those planning on traveling at 37wrrks una weldone , let's just have it in mind that pregnancy can develop complication at anytime. It's only God that keeps a pregnancy n we should also be careful not to make moves that will hurt us. It is well .

To give a balanced view, I do accept that Dr Fagbohun may not sufficiently spend "patient" time with his patients possibly because of his patient load or out of him seeing no need when there are no issues

I totally agree with those that feel appointment with Dr Fagbohun is like a business appointment. I had a concern concerning my pregnancy n my dr in Nija had the same concern but when I saw dr fabohun I told him my concern n he just waved it as unnecessary n didn't do much effort to throw more light to it as he is always in a rush. Well I changed my dr n on my first appointment after the dr went through my history she pointed out the same tin my dr in Nija said I said I need to confirm somethings from my Nija dr then we know how to proceed.
N About dr Fagbohun knowing how to negotiate bill, the truth is any dr that is used to cash paying patient will always negotiate for his patient or tell you how you can spend less. Someone in this group had her baby recently n used dr la of WHMC she fall into labor during the day n dr la kept her in his office n watched her there till she was 7cm before he now told her to go to the hospital n this helped her to safe cost on using epidural etc.
Any good dr you have discussed your concern about cash with will stand with you as per spending less cash.
This is not to discourage anyone but I think someone needs to share this with dr Fagbohun. He is experienced no doubt but he needs to work more on time.

Dear Good People,
I have gone through the wonderful trends very informative and explanatory. Kudos to everyone for the sincerity and honest info shared on this platform. Please I have made contact with Dr. Fagbohun and would like to use Oakbend as I am July mum and I am 20weeks gone. Dr. Fagbohun shared Precious Cedars Mothers Care with me but the woman has not been forth coming. Please can anyone confirm to me if I really need a proof of accommodation to take along to the embassy. If I yes, please assist with possible accommodation close to Oakbend.

It's better you book hotel for your VISA interview. Don't think Pple at the embassy will recognize precious cedar pls house correct me if am wrong.

Pls does anyone have the contact details for Oakbend (i.e. the email address for the hospital). I have gotten in touch with Dr Z / Dr Fagbohun but i have not been able to get the hospital's email address.

Or does the doctor's letter alone suffice?

From my experience the letter from the dr was sufficient.

@shagaman thanks for the information. I have been going tru the discussions on this forum and it has been very helpful. I will be using el paso and about applying for my Visa. please has how long does it take for one to recover from an American CS using Dr Martell

From my experience I think recovering from CS depends on how much you can cope with pain. For me before its one week am ok. But will still feel pain on the area of the cut for a while.

If asked pls say yes. I m of d opinion that anything less Dan $10k may raise concerns ..5k way too small.plus u will surely be asked how long u stayin over 6 months not possible also says u ve no job or business ties.

Either wait n go when ur preggy has progressed with change of intent letter or u go now come back n go layer.

I don't agree with you that anything less then $10k is low. I came to US with houston as my POE when I was 23weeks pregnant n I had $7500 with me. Had email correspondent from dr Fagbohun with analysis of his bills, had my bank statement, my hubby's bank statement n pay stubs etc . N I showed a medical report of 2 pregnancy I loss in Nigeria due to complications as my reason for coming in early. I didn't have issues at all.
Before I joined this group I used to think traveling with $10k n above was an issue. I actually joined the group after I got to houston. Na make baba God grant us favor be koko.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Vineb: 1:25pm On Feb 16, 2015
@ Idileke1: if you can pay some of your bills before going to the embassy it might help. N you can always give a reason for going to Abuja that's not a big deal. N you don't have to pay for hotel before going, you can get your reservation n all.

To back your case about wanting to come to the U.S. for better medical care when you give birth, you can go with the report of the complication you had when you had your first baby. In pray to baba God for favor.

@ Mamarondo: I total agree with what everyone has said. Tell the truth. You can send a letter of change of intent to the embassy. Get your dr correspondent n if you can make some payment. I have a friend that used WHMC she paid $1,500 from her dr fees n had $4000 with her at houston POE with her bank statement n all n she was not taken to secondary inspection. So you don't have to come in with $10,000 before you will be allowed in. Pray to God for directions
