The Ministry of the Interior wants to limit the opportunities for foreigners and short-term workers studying in Estonia to bring their children to Estonia. The ministry would also ban foreign students from working more than 16 hours a week.

More than 2200 third-country nationals study in Estonia. About half of the foreign students go to work outside the school. The Home Office estimates that students from outside the European Union should not work more than 16 hours a week. Otherwise, the Ministry fears that the residence permit issued for study purposes may be used as a cover for labor migration.

According to Aune Valgu, Vice Rector for Studies at the University of Tartu, working is important for students. About 80 per cent of the local students at the University of Tartu and 40 per cent of the foreign students are employed.

"Third-country students definitely need this job opportunity to make a living. I think it would be a very stupid decision to limit it," Valk said, noting that there are certainly some cases of abuse. "But it is not possible to be at university just being on the list but actually working. I don't see what problem we're going to solve if we limit our work to 16 hours, which is still a very small weekly load."

The ministry wants the foreign students who have enough money to study to come to Estonia after the law change. The second point would also help to secure this draft. Namely, the need-based study allowance is being withdrawn from foreigners with a temporary residence permit.

Aune Valk said she did not oppose the withdrawal of the need-based study grant, but that does not mean that students do not need support. Just a form of support could be another. The needs-based study allowance is granted according to the tax administration.

"Obviously, we can't guarantee the accuracy of the parents' data from all the tax authorities around the world, and we can't guarantee their credibility. On the other hand, if we don't support foreign students, we can get those who are able to pay but not always smart. we should turn need-based study grants into performance-based scholarships, "Valk explained.

In addition to students' finances, the ministry's plans also affect their families. According to the explanatory memorandum to the bill, the alien can live in his home country. Currently, a student with a temporary residence permit can bring children with him. The ministry wants to put a stop to this kind of family migration, which would mean that the student's children would be able to visit with a standard visa, but would not be in Estonia for the duration of their studies.

"I think we're not talking about big families in terms of students. But we see that so many students from somewhere in the Third World want to bring their entire family," Interior Minister Mart Helme said. "Look at the fastest-growing communities in Estonia - Nigerians, Bangladeshi people. And they are not all highly educated IT professionals or students, but they are exactly the way to come and use the so-called legalized students. will be brought here, but will not go after university. "

Aune Valk said that most students at the University of Tartu would not be affected by the change.

"It is primarily about doctoral students, but if I understand correctly, the draft directive excludes doctoral students. This is certainly a problem for individual students, but I am not afraid to say at the moment how much of a concern it is."

The bill's explanatory memorandum also complains that children temporarily staying in Estonia need a place to go to school and this burden falls on local governments. That is why it is wanted to limit the possibilities of short-term workers, ie people who work in Estonia for up to a year should leave their children at home.

Instead, a separate change plan concerns foreign students who wish to stay in Estonia for a longer period of time. The policy of the state so far is that if an alien receives higher or vocational education in Estonia, he or she could stay in Estonia. Such people are used in Estonia and the state needs educated people. However, new graduates may not be able to get a job immediately and will therefore be given the opportunity to apply for a short-term residence permit. But unlike other foreigners, he should not be paid the average Estonian wage. The ministry wants to eliminate this intermediate stage of job search, which means that graduates in Estonia would have to earn an average salary as well to stay here. An exception would be made for those who have received a doctorate in Estonia. Namely, academic staff often earn below average salary.

With the amendment, the ministry wants to prevent radicalization. The bill's explanatory memorandum states that lower-skilled employment can lead to insult to the internal ministry and escalate into a threat to public order and national security.

Commenting on the draft, Minister Helme remained brief. "Until all the coordination has come in and things have been locked in, I think I don't want to comment further," the Interior Minister said.

ufotty2001:
Bet9ja one of Nigeria’s leading bet companies had its online business hit rock bottom on Tuesday when its domain reportedly got expired.

A smart web designer who is reported to have found the domain for sale on GoDaddy purchased it instantly and this led to a shutdown on the highly visited website.

A Facebook user Mikhael Nice however posted on his timeline screenshots of what has been the landing page of the website with caption “Bet9ja expired and they didn’t know. Domain went straight to the market, the dude purchased it and instead bet9ja went and registered bet9ja2.”

“To cut the long story short, they have now repurchased the domain from the dude, redirecting it to bet9ja2.”

“The dude is now a millionaire and the management may be sacked”.

However, at the time of filing this report, the website is still down, with a GoDaddy ads on its landing page. News Bet9ja official website is now bet9ja2.com

The site doesn't in anyway belong to me. I run a franchise with Bet9ja, just in case you know what that means.

I can't tend to my customers since. And it was so pleasing when I got this info from a friend.

Also being a bit skeptical, I didn't save my password here and I have contacted Bet9ja asking if the sites are truly theirs.

I am not sure you can withdraw the entire amount. From what I understand with block account, the 5m would be divided by 12, the number of months in a year, and will be paid or given back to you in monthly bits.

The rate on I-invest app is juicy.

I just saw maturity period at 30/01/2020

1.5m would pay 1.597m at 12.35 % I'd have gone for this one, but I don already collect 29k from Fidelity maturity at 17-oct-2019

Hello,

I have read this thread a bit, I have also been following study in France education fair since 2013.

I have attended 2 editions of the Fair, unfortunately, I had zero account balance but a determined spirit.

I attended the fair last year in Abuja.

Part of the requirements was: getting a B2 in a certain french exams which has been a hindrance to me, aside the money required.

Last two months or thereabout, I saw a post from campus France on Facebook, I commented, asking if French language proficiency is needed for one who intend to study in English Medium, and the moderator replied that, I'd only be needing an English language proficiency test since I want to study in English medium, he/she also added that since my native language is English (as per Nigerian) and since I completed my high school in English medium, the test won't be required.

I would like to know from those of you who have profound knowledge of the French language proficiency test is a must for one who want to study in English.

Also, what should be my budget?

At the last year fair, we were told to budget 3.5million naira, but then, I want to know if it's possible with a budget of let say, 2.5m?

Can someone look into this and answer me, please?

As you prepare to travel to Estonia, some helpful tips.

Education is your primary aim. Other things are secondary. University will expel you if you do not pay tuition fee by deadline and your residence permit will be cancelled. You cannot abandon school for work.

You cannot save your first semester tuition fee in Estonia. Make sure to travel with it plus living cost for up to 3 months at least.

Residence permit takes up to 2 months to be ready. Without it you cannot work.

Treat malaria in Nigeria and also carry anti-malaria medicine with you to Estonia just in case you still have the infection. No malaria and hence no anti-malaria drug in Estonia.

Carry other essential medications. You cannot buy antibiotics, including Flagyl over the counter in Estonia. You need a prescription from doctor. No medicine for deworming in Estonia. Have a valid health insurance.

Having a visa is not a guarantee that you will be given entry into Estonia. Be polite to airport security staff. Prepare for the worst. They could search every grain of sand in your luggage. They could also request that you show them proof of fund from your ( or sponsor's) internet banking portal (not bank paper statement). It happened last year!

Starting price for taxis in Estonia including at airport are around 2.5 to 4 euro and every 1 km ride is around 50 cent to 1 euro. The price list is posted on the door of the taxi. Don't fall mugu for some drivers especially in Tallinn airport.

You can buy bus ticket to Tartu, Parnu and other cities from airport bus stop from 6.35 to 23.00 departure time (cost around 12 euro to Tartu).

EUAS students are required to inform their school before travelling out of Estonia.

I recommend you get your residence permit first before thinking of visiting your friends in other European countries.

Helpful to carry some grinded melon, ogbono, pepper (to my Yoruba friends, pepper no dey Estonia oo) etc. They are available but expensive.

Respect the culture and laws of your new country.

I do know much, but I think, traveling with Malaria drugs may raise alarms. Before them say, you wan come infect them. Or them begin suspect you say na hard drugs.

Better to treat Malaria properly here.

Honestly I don't really know much about this issue, but you can send a mail and explain to them that the result checker card is no longer available that the examination body said they can use the token to access your results. And from what Good luck said I believe they should be able to accept it.

Thank Goodness, I never knew they accepts NECO too.

My WAEC is pretty messed up and i rely heavily on my NECO. I am in my HND Finals now. Next year, I am taking this Estonian Opportunity.
